If the moderators agree, I would like to have this thread be a collection of the McCann's (and their family's) public statements regarding what happened to Madeleine, responses to the evidence, etc. I think it would be helpful to have all of these in one place.

I would like to contribute:
The way that Kate knew immediately that Madeleine had been abducted (and therefore, the reason for her "They've taken her" cry) was because "Madeleine's favourite toy, her pink 'Cuddle Cat', was taken from her arms and placed beyond her reach by her kidnapper".

Aunt Phil: They were having dinner nearby.
"Nearby" was 60-70 yards away or more...down a winding path, with their view from the restaurant blocked by walls and shrubs.

Gerry Mc Cann needs to shut up
Kate Mc Cann needs to shut up
Get the point? MORE they talk, more idiotic they sound! Geez!

Must add now the explanation that the DNA in the wheel well of the car was probably from a "soiled diaper or sweaty sandals", yea right, sweat, 25 days later???) I am not "feeling" it....

The explanations for the DNA evidence as provided by the family interest me. I think it is possibly the one area where they may trip themselves up a bit (if guilty of crime), not in a conclusive way but just in a "heads up" sort of way. I don't want to post how that might happen in public because there is the tiny chance they might hear of it and catch on to what I am watching for.
Sorry, don't mean to be overly cryptic but wanted to just post to say I do find this thread interesting.

If what we heard about the dog alerting to the car trunk is true, the DNA was from a DEAD person, so a "soiled diaper" or anything else must be ruled out.

Apparently the resort room did not come with the amenity of taking out the trash, so the McCanns were forced to take their own trash to the dump.
Or perhaps it was an extra charge, like the babysitting at night, so they decided to save a little and take their own trash to the dump. Cause that's what people do either on vacation or when they are searching for an abducted child and traveling all over the place.
Or so they would have you believe.

Taking "trash" to the dump does not leave the elements of spermine and cadaverine in the car for cadaver dogs to hit upon.
Unless the "trash" in question is a dead child.

Here's a new one, in an article about the McCanns' offering to take a Lie-Detector Test (in your dreams):
http://www.yorkshireeveningpost.co.uk/latest-national-news/McCanns-offer-to-take-lie.3220922.jp
"The couple believe its use as a "dumper truck" ferrying rotting meat, chicken carcasses and food scraps to nearby bins during the summer could also explain the excited reaction of specialist sniffer dogs when shown the car last month as part of a review of the case."
Um, I guess they think the dogs were trained to sniff out chicken cadavers, right? :boohoo:
So now we have sandal sweat, soiled nappies, and rotting meat. Whatever next?
I just have to add, that if I were them, I would not be saying I transported lots of garbage bags in my vehicle. That lends itself to alot of different theories about disposing of a body. The song "How Bizarre" is going through my mind right now.

PJ: the “fairy tale” of Daily Mail is false (translation)
The Criminal Investigation Department with already contradicted information advanced by the edition one line of Daily mail (http://66.249.91.104/translate_c?hl=en&u=http://www.dailymail.co.uk/pages/live/articles/news/news.html%3Fin_article_id%3D482811%26in_page_id%3D 1770%26ct%3D5&prev=/search%3Fq%3DSOS%2BMadeleine%26hl%3Den%26sa%3DG) saying that the “Portuguese inspectors it was admitted that Madeleine McCann could have been removed” after not having found enough evidence to question Kate and Gerry McCann again
“They is completely false”, affirms a source of the Criminal Investigation Department, qualifying the article of Daily Mail “of strange fairy tale, because we did not have any contact with this newspaper." As opposed to what is alleged by Daily Mail - as well as of other media British - the only reason called upon by the Prosecutor Shine Bilro Verão so that the Criminal Investigation Department does not advance towards a new interrogation of the couple is waiting of the results of the expertises in progress in Forensic Science Service.
The Prosecutor with decided to keep the statute of “arguido” for Kate and Gerry because the setting in examination of the McCann couple is “correct." “If one had given up this line of investigation”, the same source affirms, “why one would seize evidence in Leicestershire?”. The Ministry Public with necessary that several elements can be seized at Kate and Gerry with Rothley, in a joint action with the British police force.
McCann, which one met today their lawyers Kingsley Napley in London, one already gathered a group of lawyers, advisers and experts, in order to prepare their defense, in particular after the scientistic British of the FSS came to public denouncing the pressures of which are victims[/ (http://66.249.91.104/translate_c?hl=en&u=http://sosmaddie.dhblogs.be/archive/2007/09/19/contre-attaque-du-fss-expertises-adn-sont-correctes.html&prev=/search%3Fq%3DSOS%2BMadeleine%26hl%3Den%26sa%3DG) stressing that the results already obtained with the expertises carried out at the request of the Criminal Investigation Department are correct and worthy of confidence

What bothers me about the rotting meat and chicken in the car is, didnt they eat out every night, why would they have food in their rooms, unless it was takeout. Was there any cooking facilities in the unit they stayed in.
Going to the dump with rotting food does not sit well with me.

This crap they are spinning is ridiculous, especially the stuff about the food and dirty diapers. These dogs are highly trained, the best in the world, mind you... to sniff out HUMAN CADAVERS and CADAVER DNA...would they really mistake rotten food and dirty diapers for those things??
WHY would you transport rotting food and poopy diapers anyway? And in a RENTAL car??? How stupid do the McCanns think everyone is??

sometimes the truth is does seem strange - it is when a story is too perfect that alarm bells sound - anyway this is all based on newspaper reports on things they have alleged to have said about leaked reports on them - it is all very much 3rd hand and with the amount of stuff being printed on a daily basis it is very hard to know what is kosha and what isnt
The thing about the dogs also has me - Cadaver dogs is not an exact science - they are trained but it is not 100% - there has been a case in the US recently where the judge threw out any evidence based on the dogs as it was so unreliable - we dont know what these dogs picked up and it certainly wouldnt be enough to convict either

But it is enough for KM to try to explain it away with spin.

There has been so much stuff in the press - leaks from the police - papers making stuff up ( papers do have the habit of doing that ) that it is hard to give direct quotes to direct people .
This whole media frenzy evidence or not is being discussed in the papaers is very strange -imagine if it ever came to trial - the defence would have a field day - what jury could ever say where they heard things from and not be impartial .
Maybe the Mcaans are saying a bit too much - but I suppose they must have people clsoe to advise them and maybe they are just tired of reading every day that they killed their daughter

But come ON, Gord....transporting bags of household waste from one residence to another??? Chicken carcasses and poopy diapers?? Didn't the resort have large metal trash bins available in which to throw such things before they moved to the villa? Outside the Tapas restaurant at the very least?? Or at the VERY VERY least, one would leave trash bags outside the apartment door for pick-up, rather than transport smelly, nasty garbage with them. This is just about as ridiculous an explanation as Kate taking Cuddle Cat to work with her around dead bodies...:liar: The McCanns, if innocent, need to just shut up b/c they are making themselves look worse and worse.

When the McCanns offer explanations of why there are cadaver odors in the trunk/boot, on her clothes and on Cuddle Cat it completely verifies that they AGREE that those odors DO exist on the items. They do not deny that the odors exist!
Cadaver dogs are trained to detect human cadaver odor and to absolutely ignore anything else. So, the explanation of rotting chicken as the source of the odor is an astoundingly stupid answer. (IMO)
Regarding the explanation of bodily fluids being in the trunk/boot because of dirty/wet diapers/nappies and sweaty sandals is another ridiculous response. My understanding of everything I have read is that the bodily fluids were not urine, sweat, saliva, tears or blood but...and forgive me...the putrified liquid remains of a corpse. This material cannot be explained away by their reply. (IMO)
I just think it is very, very telling that there is no denial that there are rotting odors on everything! Again, IMO.

And one more thing about Cuddle Cat. If I were an abductor and my prey was sleeping with and clinging to her favorite toy, the last thing I would do is remove the toy from her grasp. In fact, I would believe the toy would benefit me in keeping the child quiet.
No, the presence of the Cuddle Cat high up out of reach reminds me of the thesis-sized ransom note on the Ramsey stairs; so-called "proof" that a crime was committed.
Just doesn't wash with me.

What if....again, just speculating....
What if that night Gerry took the body and left it so it would be found, so they would not be accused, they would get lots of sympathy from everyone, AND Maddie would get a proper burial.
BUT....no one found her. They couldn't exactly lead authorities to her, so they waited as long as they could but then something needed to be done. They couldn't just leave her there indefinitely--so somehow they had to move her so that she could get a proper resting place. Again, I say somehow because I don't know how, but I would imagine using the car would not be out of the realm of possibilities. Maybe after Gerry rented the car for his family and friends to use while they were meeting with the Pope, maybe he went to pick up someone at the airport and disposed of Maddie along the way. No one would suspect them of doing this right before they were to leave for Italy, right? Were there still even searches going on? Were they being watched every second. Did they bury her at Fatima, to have Mary watch over her?
My point is, maybe their initial plan did not work and they had to think of a Plan B.
Maybe. Just speculating. Not accusing.

Very interesting thought. I suppose it might depend on whether there would have been anything such as a drug or other substance on or in the body that would point back to the parents in some criminal way. If there was anything like that they would just have disposed of the body in such a way as for it to not ever be found, or as near that goal as they could reasonably get with the resources at hand.

Hi:)
In most of the streets I walked, I recall there were these types of bins (large purple one) but they were green...
http://www.simplywastesolutions.co.uk/default.asp/pr=78/p=89
As I say they were dotted about, I'm not sure what the procedure is for 'rubbish' - but it seems incredulous to me that the 'Tapas Two' would need to go to a dump - I think they know the police have recorded their movements (car tracking) and its just another of the fantasy ridiculous alibis they have manufactured to account for being at the dump (haven't seen any reference to that, but I know I have seen it mentioned.... just how much rubbish do you accumulate?... all I can say is that there are enough of the lixo bins dotted around the streets for them to have disposed of household rubbish....

Thanks, Colomom!
Even if the garbage service was optional...it would be like maid/laundry service, there would be a "self serve" option available--like the washer/dryer units in the villas. You could either have that done for you, or use the units yourself.
I hardly think it would be a "pay extra for garbage pick up or drive it all the way to the dump yourself" range of options.
Also, what would they have done with the trash before they rented the car? They didn't rent the car until after Madeleine had been missing for a few weeks (at least 2), right?
