I am quite sure there is MORE to know about James than just this.
We know that his parents have died, his step-mother has died.
Did he graduate from high school? What jobs has he held? If he didn't graduate.............what was he doing?
He is 23 now..........anyone know the answers to these questions??

James did not graduate from high school. He was working in a forge but he walked out. then when he moved back in the area the only job that I know of was in a sporting goods store??? That didnt last very long.

So.....where is James from orignally? And what ever took him and Erin away from Indiana for the time they were gone?

Is there a local that could call the Clerk's Office ( I don't have my cell and am at work, can't call long distance ) and ask if the Search Warrant RETURN is available to pick up? This is the document that will list the evidence COLLECTED.

James is originally from that area. I cant answer your other questions. My quess would be they thought they could make it on their own but it did not work out???

Just speculation but I believe these are the people James and Erin were staying with for their brief time in Ohio.

He was one of James myspace contacts, who deleted James shortly after the deaths, and look at the girlfriend's pictures. There are two of her with baby Alexis, Erin even commented on one of them. Erin also left her a myspace comment on August 14th that says "Hey Sleep Head".
This is only a guess. I do find it strange that neither of them have even made a comment about the two deaths or James on myspace. But then again it's just myspace.

Has anyone considered/thought that maybe, just maybe, Shipmans' so called "vacation" was a visit to Ohio to interview the people that James and Erin lived with, knew, etc.?? Or even, went to where ever the Coroner's Office had asked for additional help on the COD for Kelly???
Just wondering...............

Looks like James' Defense Attorney just got a HUGE break for him in their finding that Kelly died from a seizure and natural causes. It is now possible to find that NO murder took place. If his Atty. can gather enough evidence to show reasonable doubt due to Kelly's COD by finding instances where this disorder ran in family histories etc....he might just walk out of this a free man. (And it IS entirely possible now...he did not kill Erin!)

Appears that one of James' attorneys was Shipman's predecessor.
facinating. all of it.
ETA: Even MORE facinating...the Judge - Kolger was the Wayne Co. Prosecuter between O'Maley and Shipman.....and check this out...
"Kolger has been prosecutor since 1999. He had been a deputy prosecutor since 1984 and served as chief deputy before defeating the incumbent prosecutor, Terry O'Maley, in the 1998 primary election. He was re-elected in 2002."
Chief Deputy Mike Shipman will take over management of the prosecutor's office until Kolger's vacancy can be filled. A caucus of the Wayne County Republican Party will select a new prosecutor. Kolger was elected as a Republican.

shall we take quesses on how the defense is going to argue this case? I'm new here and not sure if that's appropriate at this point.
i will say in light of all the twists and turns I do not think this will be a slam dunk case and I can imagine that James defense team has a lot of reasonable doubt to work with.

Terry O'Mally was the one that handled his dads estate and James has delt with him alot I think that this was a good choice for James because he knows James and his history It seems that would help to argue this case.

I think I'm a bit surprised here that James didn't go for a big name attorney from Indy. I mean if you are being charged with a big crime looks like you would look for the big guns...not the little ones from Richmond.

he probably didn't because attorney here don't know the judges like the attorneys there.
I was talking to my daughter and she said that O'maley is the one that handled his dads estate. So really O'maley is the one that put James in jail for his felony. From what James told us he told James that the car and toolbox was his and James went ahead and sold it because law was on him to plate or move the car off street. Im really confused why would you pick a lawyer that you have already trusted once before and he got you in trouble. Dont make since to me.

YES! He didn't understand her question(s) sometimes! That was so annoying. I wasn't sure if that was real or he was feigning ignorance. It does sound like they are going to use the "we don't really know how they handled Erin's autopsy" as part of the defense. Truthfully, they might have a case if the coroner wasn't careful.

From the VERY little I was able to understand of that stupid interview i got the same drift. They were implicating that they are doubting Erin's autopsy findings and they do not nessecarily conclude that the findings are fact. Which I have to say is a SMART move, but I just think this guy O'Maley is a grump. The other one looks quite young and I'm sure he's just second fiddle to O'Maley on this case. He kept looking at O'Maley before he said anything.
I did post this a while back not sure if you all caught it. O'Maley was the Wayne County prosecuter prior to Kolger (who is the judge in this case) and O'Maley was Shipman and Kolger's boss before they both became the Prosecuters. I wonder how that will play into this case as far as if their are any grudges or if they all get along and have drinks and are chummy....

Here is an article from today!!
http://www.pal-item.com/apps/pbcs.dll/article?AID=/20071127/NEWS01/711270302
Fifteen family members and friends joined Stanley's parents in court. James McFarland did not appear as he was still in the jail.
The hearing was scheduled to start at 10 a.m. but did not start until 11:20 a.m. because of the pre-trial conference.
During the pre-trial conference, the Stanleys paced around the third floor of the Wayne County Courthouse.
Snow told the courtroom in three minutes that the case would be postponed until Friday. "I think the judge felt it was too small on time and the attorneys agreed upon that," O'Maley said. "It's hard to explain but sometimes the court needs to know there are issues that can be sorted out."
Okay Indy you are really messing with me. I went to look for this article at PI and this was published Nov. 27. The Stanleys got custody of the baby we are waiting on news of James trial witch was suppose to start on the 8th. Im not real sure how all this works so any info would help me right now???

See my post on WS thread entitled "updates on Stanley Case 2008" which I think for now is the last thread. As I understand it the courtroom has been virtually vacant during the bond hearing except for a few local reporters. I suspect there is more that has gone unreported but I'm not sure of a reason.
Early in this case I said the case would revolve more round the players and their motives than the suspect. Small towns tend to be that way.

During the hearing, Lonny also testified that she had never seen James violent or threatening toward Erin during their relationship. She also said that nothing out of the ordinary had taken place the day and evening James and Erin returned from Columbus, Ohio. I also learned that one of the locks in the house did not work all that well. I have posted additional info about the hearing on the update on Stanley Case 2008 page.
With all the abductions of young women going around I am beginning to wonder. I know when I checked to web there were several sex offenders listed as residing in the area. Feedback welcome

Bumblebug- First of all, let me start out by congratulating you on what a great job you are doing to keep everyone up on all these new developements. I know this sounds crazy, but at the same time I started thinking in my head "Wow, Lonny's testimony regarding James may actually help him", I was reading your comment. I don't know anymore. Up until a few minutes ago, it just clicked.
1. With Erin and James being so young, it is VERY unusual IMHO for them to not/hardly EVER fight-argue. Lonny said they got along and I think I read that Kelly told the detective that she only knew of one arguement- I may have that reversed, Im following a couple cases..lol :waitasec: I read in the past that they had only dated a short while before she got pregnant and that James was going to break up with her until she came up preggers. (Not sure if I read here or on Pal-Item, so if the latter, consider the source). With this being said, they either got along real well, or kept their business private and Erin and Kelly werent as close as we have been told (which I doubt- I have read EVERYWHERE about how close they were)
2. Something happened with that side window for LE to remove it from the house. Whether one of the family members had been locked out in the past and had to get in thru the window, (I doubt since there was a lock that didn't work and it sounds like Centerville was pretty trusting as far as not locking doors and windows on warm evenings), it doesnt sound like it was James since he was cleared of Kelly's death. Maybe there is a serial rapist/killer on the loose? I still find it hard to believe that Erin was strangeled by someone other than James (they were in the bed together and what idiot would break in and strangled a plus-sized woman that is sleeping next to her equal-sized man?). I do remember before they arrested James about hearing of a sex-offender that literally lived accross the street from this family. I remeber hearing he was checked out, but you maybe be on to something with Kelly- I do not believe that she had a seizure- no way!!
I hope this week brings more answers to these questions- Since they took NO forensic evidence from her body, I bet James will be smelling the summer air- from outside the courthouse!! Keep up the great work bumble- I look forward to what this week will bring- btw- I am surprised by the amount of evidence/testimony that is being presented now- What will be left for trial?

I know that it has been reported that they were close, but I have also been told they were both their own person and did have sisterly type arguments between themselves. Lonny did testify that one of the locks did not work well. If my memory has not failed me I believe I saw somewhere that the locks were later changed. I wonder if anyone checked those locks for possible forensics or kept them to show whether or not they worked well. In all candor I have seen the pictures of the window that was pulled out in this forum but I don't have a clue with respect to how it might relate to Erin's case. Lastly, I think I should comment on James' size. I understand that he is not large at all perhaps 5 feet 9 or so and around 160 lbs soaking wet. Erin probably weighed more that he did.

Just wanted to let you know that I have been posting on the "Updates to Stanley's thread 2008" which is a later thread.I would encourage those interested to check out those postings. Is it apparent yet that the posted comments seem to have more content than the published stories in the local media. Oh well.

James did not graduate from high school. He was working in a forge but he walked out. then when he moved back in the area the only job that I know of was in a sporting goods store??? That didnt last very long.
thats right, the job didnt last long.
he tried to get many other jobs but according to hearsay he failed drug tests, and i think he had one other job that he lost due to a drug test failure.
