Earthbound Misfit I

I wanted to suggest the following man as a possible for BK. It is probably a long shot but he looked worth mentioning. He is listed as being 5'9" & 160lbs but that could have changed over the years. I will try to locate more on his case so we can rule him in or out.

ETA: Sorry if he has been mentioned before.

If anyone knows how to write a story you could submit your story idea (BK's story) to Reader's Digest and if the story idea is picked you would be the one to actually write the story about BK. I would do it but I isn't no writer.

Here is the info:

Article Proposal

Original articles are generally assigned to regular contributors to Reader's Digest magazine. We do not accept or return unpublished manuscripts.

We do, however, accept brief queries (up to 2,500 characters) that clearly detail the article idea -- with special emphasis on the arc of the story, your interview access to the main characters, your access to special documents, etc. We look for dramatic narratives, articles about everyday heroes, crime dramas, adventure stories. Do include your writing credits.

We are not interested in poetry, fiction or opinion pieces.

Link to form to fill out http://www.rd.com/articleproposal.do?wtGroup=RDCOM_FOOTER&wtID=ARTPROP_SITE&lid=31

RKnowley, I am reading through all that has been written about Benjamin. If there are no objections, I would like to write this. This is at least something that I can do for this dear man.

Hi SuziQ,

I guess we can mark off Indiana as searched, as I think Phenolred and I both searched pretty thoroughly. I'm keeping Indiana in the back of my mind though because I think it's pretty likely BK is from there.

Thanks for keeping track of this list! :)

Thanks and you're welcome!

There's a little bit more info about Roger Anderson at the Charley Project:

Anderson was last seen in Eureka, California on February 15, 1993. His boat sank in the ocean outside of the state waters and he has never been heard from again. Anderson is presumed deceased.

Everything in this post with quotes was taken from the article, and the link is above.

When I looked in the mirror, I could not believe how gray my hair was and how old I was," Kyle (http://savannahnow.com/content/related?topic=Benjaman+Kyle) said. "There's a bunch of years missing, and I don't know what happened."

If there were absolutely no memory left he would not likely have had this thought. For some reason he thought he was younger with no gray hair, yet. This could be a clue as to when he went missing in real time and/or the degree to which his memory has been affected. There may be some memory left deep within that he nor anyone has yet been able to tap into.

While at J.C. Lewis (http://savannahnow.com/content/related?topic=J.C.+Lewis), Kyle (http://savannahnow.com/content/related?topic=Benjaman+Kyle)'s physical injuries healed. The fire-ant bites went away, and his back grew stronger. His blindness, which doctors diagnosed as bad cataracts, was repaired by donated surgery.

Cataracts take time to develop so we might be looking for a missing person with some vision loss or someone who has been described as having cataracts. It is also possible that this fact may not come into play at all. It would be good to watch for it in a missing person's report, though.

He worked for a year and a half as a residence manager, but he was never paid, Kyle (http://savannahnow.com/content/related?topic=Benjaman+Kyle) said.

It is possible that he was in management or he had at least the capacity/ability to be in management in the past.

He believes he might have worked in a nice restaurant, because he has a lot of knowledge about kitchen equipment and restaurant design.

This type of memory is not necessarily affected in cases where retrograde amnesia is the primary memory deficit according to things I have read over the years. In any case it is possible he worked in the restaurant supply or restaurant design industry or both. This may not have been the last career he had prior to his memory loss. This could have been years before that. But, this could be helpful. From his quotes I get the impression that Benjaman is intelligent, well spoken, and possibly college educated. But, this is just my impression, and I don't know the facts.

Benjaman is 5' 11" and weighs 240# and has blue-green eyes. I wanted to put that in here again though it may have been mentioned more than once.

Please forgive me if I have repeated much of what has been said before. I am reading through everything I can find about Benjaman, and I hope am not dittoing too much.

It does have a case number, which could help if someone calls to get more info :)

I am really late joining this case - trying to help Christine with something about Benjamin Kyle and I started here for the links and details (thanks guys, you're all great!!!).

I started reading one of the first threads and am only on page 2 - when I realized how many threads and pages there are on this case, I knew I would need help to catch up!!

I was going to do side-by-side comparisons of the missing people who have been linked here as possibilities. I didn't know if this has already been done, or if some of the people listed as possibilities may have already been ruled out. Anyone know??

Does anyone have some time to gather a list of the possible matches that people have posted on these threads who have NOT been ruled out, and post that list so I can do side-by-side pictures with Benjamin Kyle? I'd really appreciate the help and I think it's easier to compare the pictures if they're side by side. Thanks to anyone who can help.

I think Eugen Fish should be eliminated IMOP he does not look like BK and based on his employment I think his prints would be on file.

Eugene Francis Fish had spent most of his working life as a special agent with the Naval Criminal Investigative Service and later worked for the Nuclear Regulatory Commission before retiring in January 2003

General Missing Persons sites

Local sites for specific areas

Awesome! When we all pull our resources together it helps! There are so many sites out there it's hard to have time to catalog them when your busy working on trying to solve cases, LOL! Thanks. I would like to add YOU as a resource on LTWH if you don't mind.

I want to put a contact number on the graphic I'm making for BK - the SavannahNow link includes a number for the FBI, but it doesn't have an area code - does anyone know if this would be an 800 number, 888 number, or is it a Savannah area code??? Sheesh, how are people supposed to contact them without the whole number?!

Do you know HIM?

The man who calls himself Benjaman Kyle is trying to learn his real identity. He is in his late 50s to early 60s, stands about 5-foot-11 and weighs 240 pounds.

Anyone with information is asked to call the FBI at 944-0700.

When I wrote to Woman's Day and Good Housekeeping, I rearranged the letter a bit and added some info, to focus a bit more on the angle of reuniting Benjaman with his loved ones (as opposed to just finding out his identity). My thinking was that, it's possible Benjaman has a wife, girlfriend, children, or even an elderly mother who read these magazines. I'll repost here in case anyone wants to use this:

To Whom It May Concern:

I have recently become aware of a man down in Georgia who has amnesia. He was discovered unconscious behind a Burger King in Richmond Hill, Georgia, in 2004, and so far has been unable to find out his true identity. He is now using the name of Benjaman Kyle. He is unable to obtain a social security number, and therefore, he is unable to obtain a job. He has no home of his own, so he has been staying with friends he made while he was in a hospital.

Several internet sleuthers, along with one of his nurses from the hospital, have been trying to help him discover his identity. We believe that he needs national exposure by well known media such as your magazine in order for someone to recognize him. He is very intelligent and well-spoken, and he seems to come from a well-educated background. We believe he has a family out there who may believe he is deceased.

This man's story has really tugged at my heart, especially now that the holidays are upon us. For at least three years, he has spent his holidays alone, with only friends he met in the hospital to keep him company, not knowing who is out there missing him. This Christmas may be another one of many that his family has spent missing his presence, agonizing over where their loved one is.

I'd like to ask you to take a look at the following links that give a summary of this man and his situation.

Here is the first article:
http://savannahnow.com/node/364434

Here is the second article, which is accompanied by a video:
http://www.wsav.com/midatlantic/sav/news.apx.-content-articles-SAV-2007-10-15-0025.html

Here is his listing on the Doe Network:
http://www.doenetwork.org/cases/1007umga.html

Amnesia is a very rare condition, but there have been other cases in which amnesia has kept someone separated from their loved ones. In particular, the case of Jeffrey Ingram, a Canadian who went missing from Seattle and ended up in Denver with no memory, garnered national attention. Jeffrey achieved national exposure by appearing on television and was recognized by a friend. He was reunited with his fiancee, Penny, and they were later married. (Interestingly, Penny, the first name of his fiancee, was the only thing he remembered about his life while he had amnesia. There seem to be some things the heart doesn't forget.)

You can read more about Jeffrey Ingram at:
http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/15373503/
and
http://www.rd.com/content/a-man-with-amnesia-reunited-with-his-wife/

Jeffrey's is a story that captivated many people, including myself. I believe the public would be interested in Benjaman's story as well. He has been featured on two MySpace pages:
http://www.myspace.com/missinginplainsight
http://www.myspace.com/seriouslysearching

and several news affiliates have picked up the interview from Savannah.

Your consideration of this story would be much appreciated!

Best regards,

Chloekins

Yes I do think some dates could be wrong. For instance, sometimes families don't report their loved ones missing until well after they actually went missing. I can't remember the name, but a woman was reported missing about six months after she disappeared, but, no one could remember when the last time they saw her. Her missing date was established as the day she was reported missing, and because of that, a woman laid unidentified for something like 10 - 15 years. She was found deceased something like four months before she was ever reported missing. :-(

Yes, I remember reading about that too. That's why I don't like to rule anyone out just because the date's a little off. When looking at any missing person's case, I like to know if the date given is just the "reported missing" date, or if it's actually the day they were last seen.

I believe it's post 198, I did a summary of everything going on.

First, HI EVERYONE! I have been going outta my mind wondering how you all were doing. I can't get on here at work anymore.... :( :( :(

I am never going to get caught up. I spent time last night with Nurse Betty and was showing her how to post and get around on the web to get his picture out. We are going to have another tutorial tonight on how to post images, LOL. (first have to get my son from the airport! I can't wait to see him!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!)

Lots going on with me, working on other GA cases, and 1 FL, lol, at the same time! Thanks all of you for all you are doing! Flippin amazing. Even though you don't see me here, I am constantly working on something, on the phone, doing something. Last night I got home from work at 6 and I was on the phone with different people working on this and Cody Cook's case until after midnight! Just don't want you all to think I'm not helping

For all of you in GA, Nov 17th is coming quick, MARK YOUR CALENDARS! We are having a vigil for Steve Lankester...would love to see local Wsers there! I will do a sticky as it gets closer.

Start buggin' for a forum, hint hint. It would be great to line this possible outs in their own threads to be investigated one by one, hint hint.

Nurse Betty, I am glad that you are there for Benjaman, and I hope to do more to help as well. I just came upon this thread after being away for a while. And Benjaman, I hope and pray that you will discover who you were prior to 2004. You have new friends that care for you and are willing to go the distance to help you.

Thank You Gina M and christine2448 for the links. And Thank You SuziQ for the link and key words to search by.
As for William Herbert Pear, I can find nothing on him other than the listings on The Charley Project and The Doe Network. I searched via yahoo.com and google.com as well and nothing comes up other than those 2 pages. I also checked the Social Security Death Index for him and he was not listed there either. I really would like to know more about him. He just looks so much like him to me. He is the only one I saw so far with BK's nose. And I still think you can kind of see that puncture mark on his neck, but sadly the only picture we got of him is the right side. He is the right height, same color eyes about the right weight, has the same type of mustache too. Just a little fuller. He disappeared in 1985 so that would be about 19 years from when BK was found fits the 20 year gap comment as well. If anyone has any ideas for how or where I can search for more info on him I would appreciate it.

Listed below are ALL of the possible matches that have been posted on threads #1 & #2 as of this posting (72 total!). Hopefully this will help us to start weeding them out & prevent duplicate discussions due to double posting.

Christine, maybe we can start with Nurse Betty & see which ones she & BK feel can be ruled out? If any new ones get posted or if any are ruled out I will revise & post the list accordingly.

FYI - I added the state for each match so we can get an idea of exactly which states have been thoroughly researched. I'm going to work on FL tonight as there weren't a lot of matches posted from there. I also added the name of the poster who first posted the match as well as the thread# & post#, maybe we can assign some follow up on some of these guys based on who posted what.

City: Indianapolis My husband would like to find his father Jim Berry (Barry?). My husband was born in Gary, IN. Jim Berry was a truck driver who live in Alabama around 1969-70 maybe. Jim was married or with Cora in Ohio. Cora is Tom's mom. We have one picture. He was very tall and slim with curly brown hair. Probably blue eyes. Probably very charming. There may be relatives (sister and/or brothers) in Indiana. We would like to know Tom's health history, and I would like to know this for our daughters' sake. We would like to contact Jim Berry.http://www.cyberpages.com/minidb?program=persons&id=20262&action=showrecord

I thought William Pear looked the best match to me too. I think he should be checked out a little further. I think some of these can be quickly eliminated based on some of the scars etc on their descriptions. I had read one that had burn scars on him things like that I think we should rule them out pretty quickly.

I haven't given up on Indiana quite yet. I just keep on searching and searching. I searched the Indianapolis newspaper archives for a couple hours yesterday. Here is a link to The Indy star archives if anybody else wants to give it a go.

http://nl.newsbank.com/nl-search/we/Archives?s_site=indystar&p_product=IN&p_theme=gannett&p_action=keyword

I have also been looking at the Local Indianapolis Catholic High Schools, The Biggest ones are

Roncolli High School
Bishop Chatard High School (IN - Indianapolis (http://www.archindy.org/oce/index.asp?action=sp_information&id=69&pagenum=1)

Brebeuf Jesuit Preparatory School (IN - Indianapolis) (http://www.archindy.org/oce/index.asp?action=sp_information&id=76&pagenum=1)
Cardinal Ritter High School (IW - Indianapolis) (http://www.archindy.org/oce/index.asp?action=sp_information&id=70&pagenum=1)
Cathedral High School (IN - Indianapolis) (http://www.archindy.org/oce/index.asp?action=sp_information&id=77&pagenum=1)

Maybe Benjaman and Betty Could take a peek around these school websites and see if anything looks familiar or rings a bell.

You can get to them here at http://www.archindy.org/oce/index.asp?action=sp_information

Do you think I should send his info to the Archdiocese of Indianapolis? Is it worth a shot. Maybe the could hang his poster up at the parishes.

Or maybe those of you that have myspace pages for him could add yourselfs to these schools on myspace and post a message on the schools message board.

That sounds like a good idea about the Archdiocese. I haven't done much with the schools on MySpace but that sounds like a good idea. I think that's how some people found my Sharon Marshall page. I have to get on a plane in a couple hours, but I'll do this as soon as I can - hopefully later tonight :)

I also sent a friend request to Leeza Gibbons on MySpace. Aside from being a journalist/former talk show host with a caring personality, she also runs a nonprofit that deals with people with memory problems. I think it is mostly conditions like Alzheimers, but maybe she would be interested in advocating for BK. Maybe I'll send her an email too.

KT Can - thank you soooooo much for those awesome lists! I saved the posts and will start working on side-by-side comparisons tomorrow (tonight's trick-or-treat and I'm also in the middle of designing a website) - seems there's never enough time!!!

GREAT job! Can you send the codes to my myspace page so I can post them on my page please? www.myspace.com/myawarenessgroup (http://www.myspace.com/myawarenessgroup)

Thanks in advance!
Did you get the code marysawol? If not, I can try to figure it out.

If anyone wants to add my public MySpace page, it is: All4Helping (http://www.myspace.com/All4Helping).

WOW! That's fantastic. Only one little recommendation. On the profile picture maybe it would be more prudent to use the image that shows the scar along his jaw. What does everyone else think?
Oh, good thought - I'll change it in a little bit and post a new one here. I'm trying to figure out the MySpace codes, too, to post here. I'll be back...

Okay, for people wanting to copy/paste to their MySpace bulletin - here are the codes:

Small banner:
http://i201.photobucket.com/albums/aa113/lightingthewayhome/DoYouKnowMe/BK_DoYouKnowMe01.jpg
CODE TO COPY/PASTE:
<img src="http://i201.photobucket.com/albums/aa113/lightingthewayhome/DoYouKnowMe/BK_DoYouKnowMe01.jpg"></a>

And, I don't know how well the big flyer will post to bulletins, but I redid it using all 4 photos on the bottom and made it a little larger (easier to read) - it's 7" x 8", but it would be good to email or print up (right-click and "save as").
http://i3.photobucket.com/albums/y79/Blue7/WS/MissingUID/BK_DoYouKnowMeLarge.jpg

If you wanted to try to post it as a bulletin, the code is:
<img src="http://i3.photobucket.com/albums/y79/Blue7/WS/MissingUID/BK_DoYouKnowMeLarge.jpg"></a>

ETA: Sorry, I think this might've blown the margins.

I just had another thought about Indianapolis. There is a Fort Benjamin Harrison here. It kinda closed up for some things back in the 90's . Maybe he lived near it, IDK. I remember my grandmother used to go to the commissary there alot for groceries and things.

I just found this, info and it seems the commisary is still open
Fort Benjamin Harrison was closed as part of the 1991 Base Closure and Realignment Commission (http://www.answers.com/topic/base-realignment-and-closure). The Defense Finance and Accounting Service (http://www.answers.com/topic/defense-finance-and-accounting-service) - Indianapolis is still located at the former post, as well as several U.S. Army Reserve (http://www.answers.com/topic/united-states-army-reserve) and Indiana National Guard (http://www.answers.com/topic/indiana-national-guard) units, and a PX and commissary.

I'll start on the second list tomorrow, then, so that we don't end up doing the same ones. I'm going to start a separate thread, too, so that these photo comparisons don't get lost in the discussion threads. :D Be sure to post the new ones you do there, please. Thanks.

Wow guys, great work on the side by sides! If there are any pics you have trouble saving off the websites, or if they're in pdfs, let me know and I can try to take a screen capture and save it that way.

Gina, thank you so much for the offer to do screen captures for those that won't save from the websites. I finally figured out how to get the ones I couldn't get off their websites.

Great idea to add the catholic schools to your myspace page. That should be very helpful and the other changes you made are helpful also.

If you go down to "Contact Us" and then "Contact Good Morning America", there's a blurb at the bottom which I take to mean that they do not accept submissions for story ideas.

However, the Today Show does accept submissions:

I sent Oprah.com an email asking them to cover BK's story. I think the more people who submit a request the better the chance would be of her covering it.

You can submit your request here:

Oprah is a good idea too. I found her on MySpace and sent her a friend request...according to her bio, she has 4 homes, and interestingly, one is in Indiana and one in Colorado.

I can't wait to see him!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!) < snip >

Christine, since you speak directly to nurse Betty, could you ask her direct what color Benjaman's eyes are? And also ask if he has ANY other scars anywhere on his body. And if he shows signs of mental illness, epilipsy, or other disease.

It's great that you have access to someone who is in physical contact with Banjamin, who can add to his description. Wouldn't the above information direct from the "horse's mouth" cut down on some of the work? For one thing, scars aren't likely to go away, and if a missing person is listed with scars here and there, and Benjamin has none in those places, the searcher would know to continue on with another possibility. If he had diabetes when he went missing, he would have it now. I assume that if he had epilipsy years ago, he would still have it, etc.

The color of the eyes might be in the eyes of the beholder, lol, but it would be nice to have nurse Betty's opinion.

Thanks .... teedie

Again, I must say that I am amazed at the work that has been put into finding Benjamin Kyle's identity.

I was wondering if anyone has considered that perhaps Mr. Kyle just walked away one day from a family or a wife that he was not getting along too well with-and no one reported him as missing. Perhaps just thinking that he had left and no need to look for him.

BK has a long slender nose-although the nose does change a little over the years-I think this is his main feature that excludes many of the side by sides by just looking at the pictures. Of course, people can look very different in different pictures even if they are taken close together in time. Just my thoughts.

I think that getting an article out in one of the magazines you have suggested would be great for the reason I stated in para 2. Maybe no one is looking for him.

I agree with you-there are a number of reasons someone may not have reported him missing. I have been reading pleas on a number of sites that involved familial disputes years old or abandonment. I would think that prospect has occurred to Mr. Kyle as well...it must be hard to anticipate what you might find on this journey.

I don't know if this remote possibility has been mentioned or not, and it would be a zebra(rare compared with a horse). But, if he moved to Canada having lived in the US for much of his earlier life, loved ones in Canada may still be looking for him in Canada.

Or, I wonder if he went missing long before the age of the internet. Perhaps many looked for him back then and are not looking for him now. Past newspaper articles are sometimes available via the net, yet we would have many to search through. Because Benjaman himself used words similar to, "It is like I've lost 20 years of my life" and, he didn't seem to initially see himself as having gray hair, I would go back as far as possible. I would love to see Benjaman's story go national in the hope that someone, somewhere recognizes him

I hope and pray that Benjaman can discover who he was and is:blowkiss:

http://www.davidsoneye.com/cataract.htm

Glare at night and halos around lights are frequently experienced as well. One may notice that colors have become washed out, or that images have taken on a yellowish cast.

Had Benjaman had, mature or hypermature cataracts by the time his trauma/amnesia occurred I wonder if he would have been as surprised as he seemed to be per one of his published interviews. I imagine it is possible. However, if his vision was markedly impaired at the onset of amnesia, he may not have noted the difference in hair color so strongly. Or, it could be that he did develop amnesia a relatively short time ago, but remembers (very, very vaguely) himself as having brown, not gray hair. The facts here could really go either way, perhaps.

I apologize again if this has been covered previously. If I get involved in a case I generally make it a point to read all posts and media info prior to posting myself. In this case I wanted to get started and see where I could help. But, I have a life full of time crunches. So I cut corners and will catch up over time. I am sorry if I am inconveniencing anyone with repeat questions:blushing:.

I am trying to research all about cataracts. To start I would like to know how long cataracts take to, mature or to become hypermature to the point where Benjaman's were when he was found. To know the exact type of cataracts he had might be helpful. Does anyone know how I can find out?

believe09

Chloekins was very informative regarding the cataracts-this is some of the info included in the thread...

"The only injuries that were mentioned specifically in the original report are that he had head injuries from blunt force trauma to the skull, severe cataracts from extended UV exposure, sun burn, dehydration and multiple fire ant bites."

This from pheonolred:
"Marks, Scars: Two parallel surgical scars on left elbow (from reparative surgery for broken elbow that may involve pins/plates implantation). Surgical scar on front of neck appears to be from cervical discotomy. Small round scar on left side of face near chin appears to be a puncture-type wound but believes it may be related to former tooth abscess. No tattoos. No body piercings.
Medical: Blinding cataracts in both eyes may have resulted from prolonged exposure to sun while unconscious prior to being found and brought to hospital."

Chloekins again:
"Ok I called a friend of mine who routinely does lens replacement surgery. I asked him how long it would take for someone to develop cataracts from UVB exposure. I know from personal knowledge that it is a cumulative outcome after many years, but since I am not an ophthalmologist I decided I needed backup. He confirmed that cataracts due to sun exposure usually take many years to develop. Interestingly he noted that obese people and alcoholics are more prone to developing cataracts.

I mentioned previously that Ben may have spent time in very sunny areas, or was perhaps a fisherman or pilot. There are a great deal of professions that would cause one to be exposed to sunlight for long periods of time. He may have had clouding of the eye before his prolonged exposure post beating that may have exacerbated an existing condition.

With that in mind it is very rare for a person to be in a comatose state with open eyes. Most comatose patient's eyes roll back into the skull because of relaxation of the muscles holding the eye. Im not saying that there are no cases of open eyes Im just pointing out the most people do not."

I have a hard time believing that Benjaman was exposed to the sun for an extended time right before he was found by the dumpsters (post beating). He was found around 7 AM in the morning and my guess is that he wasn't there in the sunlight the day before for very long, if at all. How busy is the Burger King? What area are the dumpsters in? Would he have been seen there if it had been in the daylight hours? My feeling is that he either wandered there after dark or was dumped there after dark.

ETA: I guess it's possible that Benjaman was beat some place else and lay in that area for an extended amount of time in the sunlight and then came to and wandered over to Burger King and "passed out" again? He was sunburned..hmmmm

RKnowley, unless the place that Benjaman was found near the dumpster was obscured to the point where an employee may not have seen him, I agree he may have wandered there or been left there during the night or early morning.

I am currently researching mature and hypermature cataracts and the effects of UVA and UVB rays on the human eye. Particularly, I want to know how quickly cataracts can develop under extraordinary circumstances. I wonder if mature/hypermature cataracts can form rapidly if a person is left unconscious, on the ground facing up with eyes open to sunlight.

If Benjaman and nurse Betty are reading here I hope that I am not writing anything here that offends or upsets you in any way. Please let me know if I am, and I will do what ever you suggest to change that:).

I found this among the vast info out there on cataracts. I still cannot find reliable scientific data to answer whether nor not cataracts of any type can be caused by prolonged exposure to sunlight in a short period of time.

I imagine, as another poster stated Benjaman might have had a lifestyle conducive to spending much time in the sun. But, we just don't know. Looking at pictures of him I don't get the impression that he spent an excessive amount of time in the sun for a greater part of his life. Of course I could be mistaken.

http://www.healthline.com/adamcontent/cataract

Factors that may contribute to cataract development are low serum calcium (http://www.healthline.com/adamcontent/serum-calcium) levels, diabetes, long-term use of corticosteroids, and various inflammatory and metabolic disorders. Environmental causes include trauma, radiation exposure, and too much exposure to ultraviolet light (sunlight).

I know a while back we were discussing language issues with amnesia victims........Here is an article I found online.....this guy had amnesia and didn't remember how to speak his native language.

"On Tuesday, [Kellie Rust] took [Omar Beidari] to the home of Stacy MacEachern, her sister, in Weymouth, where he has remained. The two sisters have tried to help Beidari piece his life back together by encouraging him to remember.
Beidari appeared live on Saturday night's "The Big Story Weekend with Rita Cosby" on Fox News. After seeing the show, someone spotted Beidari and contacted his brother, Maliki Hamani Beidari, in Greensboro.
Beidari's brother is trying to fly to Boston to reunite with him, possibly as early as today. Beidari worries that he won't recognize his family or that he won't be able to communicate with his parents, who don't speak English."

Another Exerpt....

"His brother contacted him at MacEachern's home, though they could communicate only in broken English. Maliki tried to speak in Djarma and Haoussa, but Omar didn't remember how to speak those native languages."

I am also wtg word back from her (Nurse Betty) on DNA...as I posted DNA was done, but is NOT in CODIS, it was run against other identfiers....I have given them info on how to do this for no cost to Mr Kyle...anywho, point being, once that is done, we can put aside many that are in CODIS...I thought it was important we start noted which potentials have DNA in CODIS (that will take some away some leg work for us!)

We are also compiling an email to Betty and Benjaman that has all of the potential matches and links to their information included in it so that Betty and Benjaman can work on them at their leisure and work on those they think can be eliminated.

Christine has sent the email to Nurse Betty and Benjaman with all of the "possibles" that everyone came up with and she will let us know what is going on with it when she hears back from Betty and Benjaman. Christine wishes she could be here to help out but she is at work and is not allowed to be on from work anymore.

I think we can narrow down the list of possibles some ourselves before checking them all out to see if their DNA is in CODIS. For example, there are some listed that have tattoos that can be ruled out immediately. There is one who is partly paralyzed and has bladder and bowel problems. He can be ruled out too. Do any stand out to you that could be eliminated now?

Does LE ever not give information like there is a tatoo when they say there isn't. I found a guy http://www.doenetwork.org/cases/3343dmny.html

he has a heart tatoo on his arm. I was taken aback when I saw the two pictures side by side. Not sure though. This man is pretty gray.Well, it can't hurt to look!
Thanks.

Hi Lion,

I'm not the least bit offended-- I love the little furry and feathered ones and if I had it my way it would be Wild Kingdom at my house. I've been known to raise anything that falls out of a tree and needs mothering.(you'd be surprised...they all seem to know this, too)

I don't know how much an age regression photo would cost, but I'm sure the info can be found at the link. I'll check back there again to see if I can find a price.

Great idea, Indigo!! I found this information at your link:

Regular price for this service is $199
Fall Sale ----> Now Only $99 for Age Progressions before Nov. 13, 2007

And what is needed:

2-5 of the most recent photos of the Age Progression subject

If the subject is 18 or younger, 2-3 recent photos of each
parent is extremely helpful. If only 1 parent is available,
please include 2-3 photos of that parent

If the subject is 18 or younger, 2-3 photos of each parent at around the age we'll be Progressing to is also extremely helpful

If only 1 parent is available, please include 2-3 photos of that parent

If Available...2-3 photos of each sibling at around the same age as the subject is also very helpful

Basic Description of style... Casual or Dressy...color choices
for clothing, hairstyle & color suggestions...
(Please try and keep requests basic)

Basic Description of personality, lifestyle & activities...

We can Age Progress/Regress from and to Any Age!

If scanning photos, scan them at 600dpi & Save them as .Jpeg files

If you do not have exactly what we are looking for, Do Not Despair... We have yet to turn down someone for an Age Progression/Regression because they did not have sufficient photos. We will still be able to provide you with an accurate Age progression, but it will take us a bit longer and we will have to put more work into the project.

Hi Christine,

A GBI artist! Now that is cool. I have an email all ready to send if Benjaman thinks it might be helpful to do an age regression photo...just waiting on the go ahead. These possibilities (GBI artist and age regressiojn/progression photos) might be just the edge that's needed to help Benjaman find his identity.

I picked up the NE...it's the one with Tom & Katie on the cover, issue date Nov. 19. BK is on page 8. It's a good article, with 4 new pics of BK, although they spelled his name Benjamin instead of Benjaman as he's been spelling it. Says that under hypnosis, he remembered a restaurant named Mama Leone's in Denver and also the nickname of a local sports arena in Denver, "Big Mac" (McNichols Sports Arena). It also gives an email address and a P.O. Box for BK.

Sorry for the double post-Were any of you aware that "Benjamin Kyle" was the name of a Doctor in the pilot movie of Babylon 5, which came out 2/1993? Just a little trivia about the name Mr. K chose for himself...I just thought it was interesting that the movie was out 14 years ago and that it matched the time gap he has mentioned in the past. I know a whole lot of smart men who were addicted to this series...the movie was called "The Gathering." Dr. Benjamin Kyle was the medical officer for the movie and his charecter was changed to someone else for the series...the pretense was that he saw the main charecter out of his spacesuit thus revealing his true identity.:twocents:

Hello everyone,

The National Enquirer publication dated November 19th became available on Friday, November 9th. Benjaman Kyle's story appears on page 8. Please stop by your local supermarket and pick up a copy. Please pass it around to everyone you know - someone out there has to recognize him.

The article mentions both an e-mail address:
bkunknown@gmail.com

And a mailing address:
Benjaman Kyle
P.O. Box 6142
Savannah, GA 31414-6142

Please respond to either of the above addresses if you have any information regarding this article. Your input might be the final piece necessary to put this puzzle back together and help Mr. Kyle to pick up the pieces of his old life and move on with his new life!

Thank you so much.

This was posted at LTWH by the person who photographed Mr Kyle:

FWIW, I've made pictures for the Enquirer for more than 20 years on various stories, and had the privilege of making Benjaman's pictures for the article coming out next week. The story is factual and compelling. Quite honestly, there isn't a whole lot of difference these days between the Enquirer, People, US Weekly or In touch, except that the Enquirer spends the money to go after the story when it counts. And millions of people will see Benjaman's picture in the Enquirer who might never see it in a daily newspaper or "other" magazine.

Here are a few snips from email from Betty in reply to my DNA questions and regression photos (trying to catch up and share anything with you all)

We never did get the DNA done but I have someone in mind. I am going to have to make sure Mr. Kyle and I arrange a time together to make it happen. I really would prefer the FBI’s blessing on this though and I think they might want to wait and see what kind of responses come in first from the NE article. I’ll talk to them about it again soon.
The age regression would be great if only we knew when to regress back to. There is no way and conjecture will just take us off on other tangents – I think the time might best be spent staying focused on the media attention while we can and gearing up for the responses to the article. By the way, I saw the NE article today. The edition is dated 11/19/07. Look on page 8.[/font]

Hi Christine,I looked through all of the links in all 3 e-mails. Thanks for sending them. Some were easy to rule out based on body frame, scars, tattoos, etc. Others I would not be able to completely rule out unless I had more facts myself. Anyway, the National Enquirer went to press on Monday. They will be on the shelf by Friday. Let’s hope that someone out there will recognize Mr. Kyle.

I wonder if photo regression to high school age would be the most productive. Someone is bound to recognize him from high school or early college days. It seems this would target a larger base of people than simply family/friends/associates.

Hope the NE article works out well for Benjaman and he finally gets the answers he's searching for!

I think that's an excellent idea. This has been done for Anna Waters as well (age progression to high school age). Many people have photographs taken of themselves in high school for yearbooks, graduation, etc. People around that age can check their yearbooks for a match, or sometimes copies of yearbooks can be found at local libraries, etc.

My parents' neighbor's brother and niece (whose husband is in a band there), and also a cousin of mine who has lived there for a while. I know we talked about sending out emails to friends, and that some might regard it as another hoax or chain email, but I sent a message about Benjaman out just to these people in Colorado. I think that Mr. Kyle's knowledge and appearance of having been educated is truly from past experiences. I don't think he developed a new persona in that way, because it would have required that he become educated. These are just my thoughts on this, though.

Before I was able to read any articles on Mr. Kyle (I have the slowest connection possible at 4kb/sec, so I sometimes wait until I go to StarBucks for high speed to go to some sites;).), I had the impression that he was intelligent and educated. It seemed evident in the way in which he spoke and in the words he used.

If I recall correctly, I read direct a few of his direct quotes from posts on his ws threads. Later after accessing articles about him, I learned that others had similar opinions. I think this was who he was in the past, and that this aspect of him was not affected by his amnesia. Again, these are only my thoughts on this.

I do see a resemblance, mjak, but Mr. Kyle has blue eyes and is significantly taller than 5' 5".

Yeah, I noticed those differences but The eye color for Mr. Kyle has never been made clear to me and I have seen so many discrepinces in missing persons discriptions I decided it was worth consideration anyway.

More info about the guy on the MySpace banner I mentioned above:

Darrell Wayne Austrew
Missing Since: February 20, 1998 from Humble, Texas
Date of Birth: May 10, 1955
Height and Weight: 6'1 - 6'2, 130 - 180 pounds
Distinguishing Characteristics: Caucasian male. Brown hair, blue eyes.

The Charley Project has a good summary, and here is some additional info I received in an email:

"yeah, the name darrell austrew, william austrew, texas (i have already reported it to texas as well for them to check into it) um, the darrell austrew, a family member said that the one they knew use to work in indiana (which would fit with his indiana theory) the only relatives of this missing man are either dead or they said that they dont talk to that side of the family anymore, his brother william is homeless so if it is benjamin kyle its likely that no one would have claimed him because they wouldnt know or have had a chance to hear about benjamin kyle. i think the only one who would know would be the homeless brother, i talked to the pd down there they said he gets arrested everytime he comes through for criminal trespassing. but if some of this jogs his memory he may remember who he is."

"THis picture was taken sometime before 1996, now hopefully if it is benjamin kyle im hoping he wont have some sort of panic attack, the case w/ darrell is that in 1993 his cousin was murdered, he believed he knew who killed her, shortly after talking w/ police he disappeared. he may have been hiding from the people who killed his cousin maybe by going homeless like his brother, his van was used in a robbery the people who had it said they found it abandoned. so he could have been hiding out for awhile, the people may have found him later beat him to leave him for dead and not realizing he was still alive. i had quite a few people including authorities say it very well could be him. some people said if its not him then its his twin. so darrell went missing from humble texas, oh and he is divorced from a delores and has a child. the brother william austrew the 2nd is now 50, the city they always find him trespassing and he gets arrested is, humble texas."

I recently started learning how to create and edit articles in Wikipedia. I created an entry for BK:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Benjaman_Kyle

I'm a total Wikipedia newbie though - so I just did the basics to get his info on there. If anyone else is more experienced with this, feel free to make changes to it :)
Thanks, Gina - great job!! I don't know how to edit wikipedia, do you know if you can include a picture of him? Also, maybe there should be some contact information such as his email or P.O. Box that was published in the NE.

Has Nurse Betty or Lion written an article for Reader's Digest yet?

At the time I made the banner I didn't have an email address or P.O. Box for Benjaman and I wouldn't feel comfortable posting that information without his direct approval, anyway.

Is there a chance that someone could do a side by side of Darrell Austrew and BK; I don't think the nose and eyes are right, but that is just in my opinion. I have often wondered if something traumatic other than head injury sent Mr. Kyle on this path, and the background story of the missing man is intriguing.

he said the picture of darrell austrew is very fascinating, that it looks like a younger version of him. He thought it was interesting that i said darrell has a brother named william who is homeless, because someone said they saw someone who looked just like him (benjamin) at a homeless shelter. I am currently working on contacting more Austrew's to see if i can find out even what school Darrell went to so i can find more pictures to show Benjamin. I just looked at the Charley Project page and, i dont think thats him but i'll call Texas and ask. About the date, Yes im almost positive it IS 1996 because when i called and talked to them they asked the missing date of the person i was talking about i gave them the 1996 date and they transfered to the person assigned to it. It is possible they didnt gather much information due to the fact the family had a falling out and no one speaks to anyone, Also, I am not sure if Darrell & his brother William were homeless at the time of disappearance. The part where it says his license expired in 1995 and was never renewed, maybe they were/are hiding from someone, possibly the person who killed the cousin? I am still trying to find who the cousin is so if anyone can help me with genealogy on them that'd be great (im only 23 and still new to trying to do genealogy) But first thing monday I will call Texas and ask about that 2nd picture and will let you guys know what they say. Wouldn't it be great if we could give Benjamin Kyle his identity for Christmas =o)

According to a family tree submitted on ancestry.com Darrell was born 10 May 1955 in Hammond, Lake, Indiana, USA if that helps any. The file also says that at the time the family tree was submitted Darrell had 2 brothers and 1 sister.

ETA: The file says Darrell's parents were Darrell E. Austrew and Lyna Lorene Capps.

Heidi, welcome to WS! Thank you for joining us and for all your work and help in helping Mr Kyle!

May I please suggest, not only to you, but to anyone who is helping with this case.....

To investigate amongst ourselves is fabulous, contacting people, such as possible relatives however, I would suggest we leave this matter to FBI, LE. We must remember, we have NO IDEA how Mr. Kyle ended up in the situation he is in. He could be in danger.

I think everyone trying to come up with matches, working on the backgrounds and geneolgy sp?, yada yada, is great....but, again, I would not contact anyone that could be related.

So, for the investigating parts...

Here is what I can help with ;)

I have full access to ancestry.com...but no time. If one person wants to take on that part of the project, I will give access.

I have a few other programs that I can do background checks etc, if y'all need anything like that just PM or email the info, name, approx age, approx loc, more have the easier it is, but I will try with just a name and have been successful with just that.

I also have full access to classmates, but have been warned a couple times of my activity.... I am registered at a gazillion schools and am hardly on there, when I go on it's usually to BLAST someone's pic and they think I'm spamming.....I am working on trying to get classmates to work with me and the missing (another project, need volunteers, hint hint).

I haven't been on classmates for some time, but am also willing to give one person who wants to work on BK case (and others if your interesed ;) ) access if needed.

I have a HUGE list of possibles from you all that I am going through one by one, none which Mr Kyle or Nurse Betty thought were potentials. I'm still going through them, JIC.

Reason I was trying to contact relatives in the first place is because the lady at the missing persons thing said that they can't go contacting relatives unless they are sure they have something. which means it will never get done, its already been over 10 years and look how much has been done thus far...nothing, as far as i can see, and it doesnt seem to me they are working on it. Very logical-I agree with Christine though that we want to be careful of pointing anyone in his direction who may want to harm him. I can't speak for anyone else, but it is a tough balance because it truly seems like a case that could be solved...yet we have to balance it with what will be best in the long run for Mr. Kyle.

Sorry for the double post, but if Darrell A and Mr. Kyle prove to be one, things have been tough in that family...Darrell Senior died in July 1967 which would have been a huge blow for a child his age. Interesting that his mom did not marry again after that and that she was buried in Indiana while her last husband was buried in TX. So I am also curious as to whether Darrell senior fathered all of the children...

Hi Everyone,
I've been reading but not posting on this thread. I have not read all of the posts on both threads.

I do have a few comments and questions I would like to share. I hope non are offensive to Mr Kyle, however being honest I have a few questions I would like to present.

First, I have looked at all the pictures on the pic thread. Which I think is a fantastic idea, saves those who are looking the time to go through all the threads. IMO, the only one that currently stands out to me Gary David Poole, however I have not read more about Gary's case.

Mr Kyle has some very distinguished features. His right ear has two very distinct paralell lines in his inner ear. His left ear also has a very distinct semi square shape.

I have a photo of someone that I do not know, who resembles Mr Kyle. the photo is from a distance but I will mail to Christine. This photo was taken atop Squaw Peak in Phoenix Arizona. I happened to take photos of everyone who made the summit sometime in the late 80's early 90's. Most likely the early 90's. It occured to me Mr Kyles recollection of Colorado may have to do with the colorado river..... which, is not close to Phoenix but who knows. The man in the photo I have has an athletic build. Hairy arms and legs and with his arms bent, kind of pointy elbows ( popeye elbows for example ). He was pretty bashful when two pretty 20 something girls made the summit and asked to take his photo. In the photo he's looking to the side which indicates his bashfulness. I recall him asking, you want to take a photo of me? I also recall both of us( my friend and I) lit up cigarettes and he, or someone else commented - Don't see too many of those up here. I would be unable to identify this person by name but perhaps, if by chance this is Mr. Kyle, he might recognize the surroundings. This would have been around the time acid wash blue jeans with rips were in style and neon was in style. This man also wore glasses and is wearing a wrist watch. Hair part is similiar, hair coloring looks similar, also similiar receding hair line with a little more hair. The picture was taken in the fall. Would have been sometime in October.

I've also wondered if Mr. Kyle may have had some circumstances in his life which would have caused him to leave and possibly not have been reported missing. A few thoughts, which I hope are not offensive, may have been a failed business, loss of job, a gambling problem, maybe owing someone money. An impending divorce and possible loss of children, home.....

Maybe a little off beat, but I did look at some sites with photos of parents owing child support and did not see anyone resembling Mr. Kyle.

hope this helps.

Thank you Cubby, that is very interesting. I'm curious to see what this man looked like that you took a picture of.

BK does have a recollection of the state of Colorado. It says in the NE article that he remembers the local nickname of the McNichols Sports Arena, the "Big Mac" (home of the Denver Nuggets) which most likely would be known by a resident or someone with ties to the area.

That said, I think anything is possible. Thanks for joining us! :)

Big Mac, interesting. Wasn't Mark McGuire also known as the big mac? Did Mr Kyle specifically mention basketball? or sports in general.

I think we need some more off beat memories......

The pic I have is from such a distance that I can not make out facial features. However body language can be made out, so was hoping that might help.

 Sorry I had the wrong date for Darrell Austrew then - I used the one from the Charley Project on the photo thread and apparently it's wrong. It's frustrating to have to go from site to site to find the information you need when you're trying to create graphics. I rushed and made a boo-boo. Sorry everyone.

It may have been my fault for posting the Charley Project info initially. I wonder where that date came from. Also the two photos of Darrell look quite different from each other. Some of us are wondering if they're both pics of the same person. Heidi says she talked to a family member who says they are both of Darrell. What do you think SieSie?

Hi Gina,

I think the date on the Charley Project page for Darrell is the date a police report was actually filed on him. He actually went missing in 1996 but no report was filed until 1998 for some odd reason.

Hi siesie, i did not see your banner with the number on it, the only one i tried calling was the fbi but when they didnt know where he was i had a hard time finding someone who did, i had called the jc lewis center as well. I myself feel like he may be darrell austrew but you never know. If it is not, i will continue to not only work on helping Benjamin Kyle but I will continue to help find out what happened to Darrell Austrew. Keeping both in my prayers

That makes sense as to why the dates are different. Good catch, RKnowley:).

Hi Heidi,

I'm curious, how did you first find out about BK? Since you are on MySpace a lot I assumed you had seen one of the banners. Though I know a couple people have also posted about him in their blogs. Did you first start looking into BK, or into Darrell's case? Just wondering what got you started :)

We're glad to have you on board :D

RKnowley - that makes sense, I was thinking it might be something like that. Darrell may have been out of touch with his family for a while before they realized he was "missing".

LOL i have been trying to remember where i heard about his case I think i saw a bulletin, honestly, I have been working on so many im starting to forget where I heard about them all. There is one that i got new info on recently on a case i have been working on since 2004 but thats more of a personal case but it has been very hmm, i guess i could put using alot of room in my head LOL. Also working on a few other unidentified people and a few missing people. I think since you are on my friends list i saw it on there but all i did was get the fbi number, i only checked the blogs and didnt look at all the banners on the front of your page til a couple days ago. i thought the fbi number was the only one on the doe network.

Ok, thought I would let everyone know that Benjamin Kyle IS NOT Darrell Austrew. Humble PD emailed me and said she talked with Darrell's daughter and found out that he had a tattoo on one of his upper arms. Said it wasn't visible in any pictures that Darrell's niece provided. I wish that they would have had this information before, then i wouldnt have spent day and night working on this. hopefully missing persons family will come forward and give those very important details when the person first goes missing. They are still awaiting the dna results to be sure, but its likely not him. Which may be a good thing for Mr. Kyle. Just thought i would let you all know but hopefully entering his dna in the codis will come up w/ a match. Thank you everyone whose been helping with this and finding out more about Darrell Austrew.

Oh Gina, I don't think it's any of our "faults" that the date was entered wrong - it's so confusing with all of the different websites (NCMA, NCMEC, DoeNetwork, CharleyProject, etc...) to know which one to grab the info from. I don't mind making the banner graphics (I actually enjoy it), but I don't like having to search for the info that I need on the banner. I'm not much of a research person, I leave that up to the real sleuthers. ;)

I have no idea if the pics are of the same guy - when I first made the graphic, I didn't even think twice about how different the two people looked, I just assumed one was a younger picture (with moustache and fuller, longer hair) and the other one was maybe when he was a tad older. I didn't think much about it until everyone started commenting that they look completely different.

I didn't hear that Heidi talked to family and says it's both Darrell.

Heidi, thank you for all of the research efforts you put into this. This is usually how it goes--work hard to obtain factual details, rule people out, and just do lots of research. I hope that Darrell's family does find what happened to Darrell. And, for us it is time to continue our efforts to help Benjaman.

Just now getting back on BK's thread after a short absence (dang that pesky flu!). Anyhoo, wish I would have logged on over the weekend as I don't live far from Humble at all and I totally remember when Darrell Austrew went missing and the whole Deerbrook Mall robbery thing. I used to shop there and that totally freaked me out. I think I may even still have some Houston Chronicle articles on the case. Weird case, lots of theories floating around at the time if I remember correctly. Anyway, sorry to hear that Darrell's family along with BK still has no resolution to their seperate cases.

Hi Heidi,

Thanks for all your hard work regarding Benjaman Kyle and Darrell Austrew. Did you find out what type of tattoo Darrell had? If so, it might be worth contacting places like doenetwork.org and the TXMPCH, etc. to let them know that Darrell had a tattoo and what type of tattoo it was and where it was and see if they will add that information to their site so that it will be easier to identify Darrell if/when he is found.

Big Mac, interesting. Wasn't Mark McGuire also known as the big mac? Did Mr Kyle specifically mention basketball? or sports in general.

There's no direct quote from BK in the article about this. The author writes, "there is additional evidence linking Benjaman to Denver. During a visit with a hypnotherapist, Kyle recalled the name of a Denver restaurant, Mama Leone's, and the Big Mac, the local name for McNichols Sports Arena, home of the Denver Nuggets."

I just looked it up, and you're right - Mark McGwire's nickname is Big Mac.

ok well its probably not him BUT, weird, this man went missing in 1977, his birth year is 1953, he was legally blind and had a medial condition. He's missing from new mexico. his name is Michael Daniel Harp if anyone wants to look in the ncma. not sure if anyone already looked at it before but if not here it is =o)

Here are links for Michael Daniel Harp at Doe Network and Charley Project:
http://www.doenetwork.org/cases/1612dmnm.html
http://www.charleyproject.org/cases/h/harp_michael.html

NCMA says he is legally blind with vision of 20-200? I think they might mean to say 20-2000. I used to have 20-300 vision and I wasn't legally blind, just "mildly nearsighted". (I've since had LASIK...20-15 now :D )

I was thinking about the tattoo thing...I've never had a desire to get a tattoo, but they sure do seem to come in handy when one needs to be identified!

ETA - Good find Heidi! The general info seems to match, but Doe Network says he has a surgical scar on his abdomen, which as far as I know, BK doesn't have. Here's BK's info:

ya, i wasn't quite sure, lol and all i know is that i have 20/20 and have had the same vision (as far as i know) til this day, so i dont know what the 20/200 whatever meant lol. its crazy how many people are missing and how many are unidentified and how many have been killed and their killers not in jail...I still wonder how it ever got this bad. At least we are all here doing our part in trying to reduce it =o) I don't want to imagine what it would be like without the few people like us. Thank you to everyone for everything.

A quick search of Mama Leon's hit on pizzeria's from Rhode Island down south east. Being from Chicago.... we love our pizza. Has Benjaman recalled anything that can be singled out to a specific region?

I know his dna is going into codis...... I wonder if someone can take an analysis with the oxygen in his teeth, similarly to the doe child from DuPage county- Naperville area. Linked the child to a specific area. Sounded very new, interesting up and coming..... perhaps whomever is doing this might be interested in profiling Mr. Kyle and could help narrow down an area to focus.

Maybe a long shot but worth a try.

Cubby, do you know the name of this technology? On the "unidentified couple in South Carolina thread" the couple is potentially from outside the US but no one really knows. Perhaps this technology would be viable to narrow down where they may have come from??

I could not seem to copy the link from Doe Network to post here. Could someone explain how that is done? I generally just highlight the url, copy it and then paste it, but on the doenetwork an individual url did not show up?

I also googled Mama Leone's and found that there were many locations - not sure why he believes he remembers the one in Denver. Other than "Big Mac", I don't know of anything specific that BK remembers. That info about the study of the oxygen in the teeth is fascinating! I went and read up on it...here are a few links for anyone who's interested:

Looks like it is called trace element geochemistry. "Schwarcz said bones collect oxygen isotopes that act as geographic markers throughout a person's life." I have to read up on this more - can this be done on a living person too?
