(October 22, 2007)—The arrival of a cold front that brought cooler temperatures and a biting wind to the region is adding urgency to the search for a Marlin man who’s been missing for a week.

Marlin police say they’re continuing to run down leads on the whereabouts of Ernest Wilson Hensley, 61, but so far the search has come up empty.

Hensley suffers from what police say is a severe mental disorder.

He was last seen Monday on Capps Street in Marlin.

Thursday a Department of Public Safety helicopter assisted in the search and on Friday police officers went door-to-door.

Hensley is 5-foot-10, weighs 165 pounds and may be wearing glasses.

If you see him, call the Marlin Police Department at (254) 883-9225.

Marlin police are sending out a “Silver Alert” for a missing veteran that they now believe may have gotten a ride out of town when he disappeared more than two weeks ago.

Police say that it could be the break they've been waiting for to find 61 year old Ernest Hensley Junior. A search team using a scent dog began looking for Hensley early Saturday morning.

The break in the case actually came when the dog lost Hensley's scent along Highway 6 early Saturday morning.

Police now believe he's no longer in Marlin, and may have gotten a ride out of town.
