I'd like the original to put the younger version next to for the side by side (of course I'd shrink them down a bit. Do you know where I can find any other pics of BK that are a bit larger than the ones I was using for the side by sides? I will look around. I haven't cross checked all the eliminated matches, but his pictures on doe seem to be an almost perfect match to Benjamin Kyle Professor Emeritus in Chemical Engineering at Kansas State University. The important part is that it says he is disabled and his car was parked in the University of Iowa Hydraulics Laboratory storage lot. I haven't gone over all the Kyle Benjamin posts so I don't even know height, colors, etc. but the picture looks similar. Given that the real Kyle Benjamin may be a professor, it may not be a stretch to think he may have been a student himself at some point or worked at a university.

I have a series of photos from him that show him with a beard, and then with a beard dyed brown to give him a different look. I am going to do my best to post them, but be patient with me since I am a newbie at photo stuff and Mr. Kyle's files were HUGE...I tried to resize them. The first photo you see was a gift from him to us-he thought some of us could use a laugh, and he is so incredibly grateful for the help being given to him.

I've gone through all the noses..... the nose is one of the more distinct features of a face, and the only nose that matches that of BK is George Lewis'.

I see definite similarities with Mueller. Look at the features on the right sides of the pics (left sides of their faces). The narrow bridge of the nose and shape of the nostrils, the end of the nose hooks down slightly as well. The downward curve of the eyebrows looks identical, as does the basic shape and orientation of the eyes. They both have deep smile grooves down the sides of their chins, and the shape of their chins themselves look like a match. The ears are hard to tell, but from the limitations of the pic of Mueller, the lobes look very similar. They are a bit squared off at the bottoms and there isn't alot of space between the lobes and the face (like the lobe seems to go right into the face without much of a pendant shape). I'm an artist and so am used to deconstructing features and they look like a match to me.

It is the shapes of the nose and ears that will be the most telling. These features change very little or not at all with aging and weight gain/loss.

From looking at all the noses, ears, and chins, Mueller is actually my favorite match, just based on the pics. What else do we know about Mueller?

Later, it was determined that the file had two people's case information in it, and that the fingerprints on file for Mueller belonged to someone else.

Yes, he does and I believe in another thread someone said they were contacting whoever's in charge of Mueller's case to see if they can match them. I'm excited to hear of the results if they do. I really think that Mueller is the closest match so far.

McCormick and Mueller both are very close, IMO.

I noticed on the Dr. P show that when BK smiles he seems most comfortable with a 'less open mouthed' smile. Most still shots of him smiling are also less open mouthed when smiling. He almost seems to reveal a more introverted or embarrassed persona when something causes him to smile large. This seems to hold true in the still shots compairasons of McCormick as well.

Unless it has already been done someone needs to call the number listed at the link above to determine if Charles R. Elmquist's physical disabilities could have been corrected by surgery such as those which BK has had...If so he should not yet be elimnated as a possible match, IMO. The mental handicap could very well be related to memory.

If it hasn't already been done, could someone PLEASE call the 1-800 number and find out as much as possible about the physical disabilities and mental issues.

(ETA: If you read the "Details of His Disappearance" at the link above it says his 1961 blue GMC Van was found in the University of Iowa Hydraulics Labratory storage lot. That would mean his mental and physical disabilities were nt so severe as to prevent him from driving....)

I noticed that as well, and decided it still wasn't enough reason to rule him out. We grow significantly more facial hair as we age, so he may have grown thicker eyebrows to shorten that gap. I know that I have to pluck more as I get older :)

Since we know he was severely beaten ( at least once), is there any chance that he had a rhinoplasty at the same time as the cataract surgery?
If not then, is there any thought as to if he might have had a broken nose at the time of either the fractured arm or the vertebral injuries?

I think he has a " perfect" nose. It looks to be resculpted to me. A good doctor who is familiar with what the insides of the nose looks like after a rhinoplasty could look inside his nares and tell him in about 2 minutes or less.

Also, what happened with Bruce McCormick? I thought he was a very close match looks and age wise.

I may be mistaken but I think Bruce McCormick's photo was found and compared because of his field of study. His pic was found on Purdue's pages. It came while some were working on a theory regarding what Benjaman may have studied or done for work. I don't think Mr. McCormick was listed as missing anywhere (the doe site, etc.)

BK does have distinct dentals-IIRC no one could tell whether the replaced teeth were as a result of his beating or prior. We know that Demyon has some kind of dental that could be compared...

Ack, I hadn't realized that Benjaman had teeth missing when found! Not sure how I missed that info before. When I looked at Thomas Demyon at charleyproject I read about the partial plate and would have dismissed him in my mind due to that.

I would think it would have been farily easy for a dentist to tell if Benjaman's lost teeth were a recent occurance or older. Older would certainly have healed gums.

Let's get a consensus for this man-his square shaped face, dental plate and nose don't do it for me, and I wonder why police feel he was murdered vs just missing from his life. On initial read, it looks almost like the perfect walk away to me...

You know I kind of had that same feeling too at first but then I realized the area he's in (lived and where car was found) coupled with his gambling habits, debts mentioned and close vicinity of horse racing tracks.... kind of led me to think in a darker area.

As far as his face: Studied the nose alot and it doesn't seem that the nasal opening goes as far back (from tip of nose to cheek area) as BK's does in a side shot. I wish Demyon didn't have that hat on.

Ack, I hadn't realized that Benjaman had teeth missing when found! Not sure how I missed that info before. When I looked at Thomas Demyon at charleyproject I read about the partial plate and would have dismissed him in my mind due to that.

I would think it would have been farily easy for a dentist to tell if Benjaman's lost teeth were a recent occurance or older. Older would certainly have healed gums.

Similarities between Mr Ponder and BK:
forehead, nose, chin, hair parts the same direction,
balding, age could be right, dob Mr Ponder: 9/23/51

Mr Ponder: top of ears are lower than his eyebrows.
BK: hair is brown.
Mr Ponder: hair is red

Mr Ponder disappeared 15 yrs ago from SC.
Probably had a southern accent.
Mr Ponder had a criminal record.
BK fingerprints never shown in in any system.

I am checking the side by side photos of Benjaman Kyle and
Eugene Fish.
1. Eugene Fish photo seems dated. His age is 58 now.
2. Eugene F seems to have brown eyes. Could be the flash.
3. Eugene F has a full head of hair. Again, the photo seems dated.
4. Eugene F eyebrows seem thinner than BK.
5. Eugene F has apple cheeks.
6. Eugene F eyes not as deep set as BK's. Photo seems dated.
7. Eugene F skins paler than BK's.

pro:
1. Ears are in a line above eyebrow, BK's too.
2. Ears very similar.
3. Bottom of ears line up same place nose area on each man.

My thinking: 60% no. 40% yes.
Will look for more pictures of Mr Fish.
