FL-14 year old girl missing in Tallahassee

14 year old girl missing from my town. Reported today, but she's been gone four days!


Sasha Stoops, 14, has been missing since Oct. 27. She was last seen wearing a pink Tinkerbell sweatshirt. Deputies describe her as a white, 5-foot 2-inch girl that weighs about 100 pounds. She has brown hair, brown eyes and a piercing in her left nostril.

This profile at my space is myspace/bisashastoops and is the only sasha stoops near Tallahassee. In the picture, she's young enough to be 14 and has brown hair. In the my space description, she's 18 and in the profile she is 20. Maybe a teenager doing something on the internet she ought not to be doing? Maybe not the same girl, but you never know.

I think it IS her. Here is a 1996 thing from where she ran away previously. LOTS of interesting information. She passed for age 20 back then, too. It was one year ago exactly, actually.

There are photos of the girl on both of those web links, but there is no photo on the newspaper article. That's weird.

I hate stories like this one. However you look at it, this girl is still a baby. Do you assume she ran off again? Or do you think maybe she got in way over her head? I guess either way, she's endangered. I hope and pray she's found safe soon. And if she is, lock her in her room and allow no contact with computers! That Myspace is unbelievable.

According to the Tallahassee article, Sasha was living in a foster home. I'm just guessing, but it appears that she might have been taken away from her biological mother after the last runaway.

I wonder if she's heading back to Springfield.

I'm glad there is finally a photo of the girl! I would like to see it on fliers at the bus station though. The bus station here is next to a homeless shelter, and although the homeless shelter has good intentions, I happen to know it's rife with crack addicts and people who would take advantage of this little girl. There are some good people there, yes, but there are some bad characters as well. It's just not a safe area.

I can't think of much else besides this girl right now. She's close to my daughter's age and I know the parents had to have had a horrific decision to place this child with the state. My daughter is gifted and bipolar, and is a major handful. She put herself into a hospital for a week recently. Without insurance to pay for it, I can see where a financially strapped family desperate for help for their child would let the state handle things.

Unfortunately, the state didn't handle it.

To the person who thought the state took the daughter, they didn't. This girl has emotional issues the parents needed assistance to handle. Their financial situation doesn't allow for her to be hospitalized, so they let the state take her in order to have the state pay for her care. The state didn't help her, though. That's the take I have on it.

Two agencies and one family are desperately looking for a 14-year-old girl, but as of Friday, they hadn't found her.
Sasha Stoops, the adopted daughter of Roy and Theresa Stoops, ran away from her state-appointed foster home a week ago, according to the Leon County Sheriff's Office. Investigators said Friday that they had received no concrete leads. The Stoopses said they considered her a chronic runaway.

"We were told it was a therapeutic foster home," Theresa Stoops said. "I just want my daughter found."

The couple adopted Sasha almost three years ago. But their insurance wouldn't cover the expensive mental health care Sasha needed, they said, so they gave up custody to the state.

Sasha's description was updated Friday. She is about 5 feet, 6 inches tall and weighs about 130 pounds. She has brown hair and hazel eyes and a piercing in her left nostril.
Sgt. Tim Baxter, with the Leon County Sheriff's office, said normally when a child runs away, the description comes from either the family or the Department of Children and Families. In this case, the family and DCF gave different descriptions. Sasha's features such as her eyes, height and weight were being disputed.

Ohio has that same rule about relinquishing custody if you want state help. It is my understanding that not all states have that requirement. In OH it applies to mental health issues, but not mental retardation issues.

I don't understand why the state would have let an adoption go through with a known mentally ill child to parents with NO health insurance.

Why the parents would adopt a child they knew had medical/mental health issues that needed addressing when they knew they could not provide health care for her.

I realize this has nothing to do with her running away but I just can't get over the fact that the adoption of this kid went through in the first place!

Well, maybe she's not being exploited by someone. Maybe she's been abused in the past and she is well-advanced in how to attract the wrong kind of attention. You could browse through myspace and find lots of sites like these for minors, by minors! Kinda scary, eh?

I'm worried for her and will pray she is found safe. I will also pray she gets whatever help she needs.

Most frightening of all he says he is bored! With that njc61104. I'm seeing he is the same person as ninja6200. He now lives in Rockford, Illinois. That 61104 is a zipcode for Rockford. Didn't find a Nick on the sex offender registry for either state, but that means nada. Sorry, if this post seems all disjointed. This kind of thing honestly just rips my heart out and makes me ill. if you look at the friends section of the myspace site (only 3 pics listed as friends) one of them is the real Sasha, but her name is listed as Crystal......could someone be using the name Sasha for the site, who knows the real Sasha, & listed her as a friend named Crystal????

I just read Sasha's blog which is dated October 16th and it tells how she's glad to have run away and be away from family. Shifty too is this Crystal had comments only up to August 14. Her next comment isn't until October 7th. Then on November 1st she adds a Polly Pure Romance Party person. I hope they hurry up and find this little girl.

This girl desperately sounds like she needs residential treatment. I'm not sure her mother is telling the truth, but IMO, Sasha appears as if she's poised to dive into prostitution and drug use.
