Hi guys, I just wanted to slip in here and give a BIG thank you to Indy Gal, who helped me get registered here! I tried a couple of times before but it never worked. Thanks to the mods too for approving me!

:woohoo:

I've been glued to the Stacy Peterson case from the beginning, as I live in the Chicago area about 40 miles away from Bolingbrook. I look forward to contributing and reading what everyone else has to say!

I want to thank EVERYONE here for keeping up with this and getting us a forum for Stacy. I was posting every other second (seemed like) just trying to keep the story up on top- and I'm glad that so many people took an interest. If she isn't found by the weekend, I've decided to go down there and help the search on Saturday. Wish me luck just getting there- Chicagoland is like my own version of the Bermuda Triangle.. I get lost every time!

Did everyone have a good Thanksgiving? Our family is split all over the US so it was just me and my son. Well my daughter is near but she went to her future in-laws. They kindly invited me, but they are Mormon and I am a smoking drinking sometime cussing Diest. Don't get me wrong, I have friends that are Mormon that I love. However, this family is the it's our way or the highway type. They are so disrespectful and look down on anyone who isn't Mormon. Ack, can you imagine what the wedding is gonna be like?!!!

So me and my son hung out, watched the dog show, some football and took a very long nap. Then we headed out to the local Flying J truckstop for a bite to eat, since they were the only thing open. I had the best mashed potatoes and gravy ever!

SuziQ

Omg, posting about my daughter and her future Mormon in-laws reminded me of something funny that happened not to long ago. I thought I would post it and bore you all with it.

So my daughter converted to the Mormon religion last March and alot of it is still new to her and she's still learning how things go. Incidently, she's extremely pretty and the guys fall all over her. Well she moved to Provo, Ut. and started going to a new Ward. A Ward is the local chapter/church that is in each neighborhood. After being there for a few weeks, the Bishop asks her to give an inspirational talk to the congregation at next Sunday's service. She is so flattered she invited me, her fiance, his friends, her friends, her future in-laws and extended family to hear her. I asked what her topic is going to be and she says probably about her experience converting to the church. Well a couple of days before her talk she calls in a panic wanting to know how she could uninvite everyone she invited because the Bishop called and told her that the topic was on being CHASTE. In other words, she was going to have to talk about sex in front of her future in-laws. Needless to say I told her I wouldn't be able to go hear her because I would start laughing and not be able to stop! However, I would have loved to have been a fly on that wall!

Missing mans case lost in the media
~snip
Tom Spira's brother disappeared in February from West Chicago. That's just a few towns away from Bolingbrook, but chances are you've never heard of this 45-year-old business owner.

You may not have known about his love of the blues or about the gig he missed the day after his disappearance.

When Spira's office mysteriously went up in flames seven months after he went missing, it earned only brief mentions in the media.

I do the same thing at Walmart! In fact the other night we were at hubby's firehouse decorating for the Christmas party when I was called "twisted". I was talking to one of our very good friend's new wife. She is not a very social person so I was attempting to be kind and asking her about her interests. Blah blah blah about her nails, hair, etc. She asked what I enjoy and I told her true crime. The woman looks at me like I grew another head and called me twisted. Hey, thanks a lot. I was done being kind to her at that point. I didn't bother to mention to her that she was about the same height and weight as Stacy and I was looking at the Rubbermaid tote the guys had brought down that held ornaments...I was sort of sizing her up for it. LOL

BTW: She would have easily fit.

ETA: Is what we do really that twisted?

Pocono, I usually get a blank stare or a horrified reaction and I haven't even gone into the gory details yet!

Being a crimehag gets me into trouble at times. My daughter is one. My son is becoming one. And once I got a call from my son's teacher because of it. But hey, it can't be as bad as what morticians kids do at school...right? We should start a thread called "The hazards of Crime Sleuthing" or something like that.

Nah... well, not to use, anyways. :)

I crave knowledge and forensics became a must-read for me, a very long time (long before there was any tv shows dedicated to it). My love for forensic knowledge led me to getting into true crime cases. I have books coming out of my ears on both subjects... when I moved in with my SO, he laughed about the many books and said that if he didn't know me any better he would be afraid of me. LoL

I just upgraded my adobe photoshop software up to CS3... guess what I saw the other day on the shelf at Borders: a book on CS3 for forensic professionals. I am super curious as to what the book has to offer in the way of knowing what goes on with photography and forensics. (Now to try to explain to my SO why I want it from "Santa"...)

Thanks, Guys! Glad to be back! We lost power Monday at 6:00AM and there was simply no place to go with power until last night. All the hotels were booked solid and I had to travel two hours to my daughter's house to find heat again! We are just lucky she got her power back up when they did! (We have my whole family and a couple of friends here.)

My neighborhood looks like a war zone since we lost the majority of the huge trees and they don't expect to have power until late next week. We are now expecting a heavy snow storm to start anytime to add insult to injury. Listening to the trees crackling, then literally moaning before they came crashing down on cars, houses, and streets was terrifying. They sounded like bombs going off every 3 seconds.

It was and is a very dangerous situation. I am more than happy to be safe amd warm again. (That was the absolute coldest I have ever been in my life!)

You might say a quick prayer for those in Oklahoma who are still without power and heat. They need all they can get!

I'm glad you're ok. That happened in Ohio a couple of years ago. At the beginning of the ice storm I got the bright idea of driving to a store about 15 miles away to get a kerosene heater. I was never so scared in my life! All around me was blue flashes of light, from transformers blowing and trees falling everywhere. My power came back on later the same night, but many here were without power for 2 wks. That 2 weeks covered both Christmas and New Year's.

I listened to a tree crackle and crack directly over my car...I opted to leave it and take the consequences should the limbs fall on it. Luckily, I was later able to move it before damage occurred. I know what you mean about those flashes, too. We were also seeing fires as the lines dropped onto the houses.

This time, my withdrawals of being away from my computer didn't seem at all significant. I guess that whole "not wanting to freeze to death thing" was a bit more consuming! OK, I am thawed out enough to type again. LOL Now...where are we on this case?! I have not had power...so no news from any sources!! I guess I will have plenty of catching up to do later this evening. I feel I have been gone a year.

Good to see ya SS!

Well, the snow left Colorado early this morning. Woke up to a sunny sky and cold temperatures. We have this bad habit of sending the weather eastward. It seems to get worse after it leaves here. We got about 4 to 6 inches out of it. But, the cold is still here. Amazing that it can get up to 24 and then the sun starts to set and it's dropped 10 degrees by the time you get home. We have one of those compass/themometer thingys on the truck mirror. Hear that those of you toward the East are getting lots more snow than we had. Good news is the weather here is supposed to be free of snow for at least the next 7 days.

If we lose power here, we're ok. We have plenty of wood from old fence posts that were replaced this Spring for the wood store and a full propane tank. That means we can have hot water, cook on the propane/gas stove and stay warm. Tons of books and magazines here haven't been read. We'll read by antique oil lamps if necessary. It's the BarnGod's pioneer heritage.

Have you ever considered sending the weather you get to the WEST instead of the EAST??

Unfortunately, it doesn't work that way. There are times I wish we'd get more moisture. I'll take another of last year's blizzards as long as I can protect my livestock. We've been in a drought worse than Georgia is now for a number of years. Just not getting the rain we need. Seems in the Spring and Summer the storms form over the Rockies and move west. Frequently they pass right over us and start dumping over Kansas and beyond toward the East.

See what getting a full tank of propane and plenty of firewood and lamp oil does? Nada.

East of where Suzi?? (meaning are you in the North Pole or what?) :)

A little cow-town west of Salt Lake City. It's funny to hear you all talk about snow days, they don't do them in Utah...no matter what. We have a foot of snow, but the roads have been cleared.

12-16-2007, 04:38 AM
Our road crews don't have the manpower or equipment neccessary to clear our roads immediately. It takes sometimes a week to get to secondary streets. People here don't know how to drive in the ice or snow either which means you literally risk your life going out! We have so many accidents, LE puts into effect a program called "Operation Slick Streets" which means they will not respond to any accident unless there is an injury. You are on your own to file reports and get information from the other driver.

And hanging out here at WS, we know that is true.

Delta and everyone, have a great Holiday. What are everyone's plans? My daughter and her fiance are driving in tomorrow night and it's supposed to snow. We are going to eat pizza, bake a spice cake, play some cards, wrap presents (well my daughter is) and maybe go visits some neighbors. The next morning will be the typical craziness. It's shaping up to be a very happy Christmas after having numerous sad ones. And for that I am very grateful!

Now I wanna know, who is Lionheart baking all those pumpkin pies for???!!!

Happy New Year everyone! May your New Year be a safe and happy one! May your road be easy and your wishes granted (at least the ones that are good for you) and may you not have any worries or strife. May you and your loved ones be happy and healthy.

I think this is the year that Stacy will be found. And I hope and pray that Stacy's family will be able to take comfort in that. I also hope and pray that Stacy's kids will get the best option available to them and that they grow up knowing about their Mother's and how they loved them and didn't want to leave them.

I also would be happy if there were no more crime for us to discuss, no more missing kids and adults. Someday in a more perfect world perhaps.

Another case rang a bell with me while watching television while WS was down again! Mel Ignatow and Brenda Schaffer. This was the case of double jeopardy and Mel Ignatow never spent a day in jail over killing his wife because they didn't find the photographic evidence and her jewelry until a Jury found him innocent due to lack of evidence presented at trial. He later flaunted that he did, in fact, kill her. The evidence was finally found when a carpet layer pulled back the old carpet in his former house and found he had stashed his "trophies" in a heating vent which was covered completely by the carpeting.

It worries me that the FBI and LE had gone over Mel's house supposedly with a fine tooth comb twice and missed it entirely. Something they should have learned a grave lesson from!! Did they check all the vents in DP's house? Should they have pulled up the carpeting to look for hidden caches? Maybe he didn't have a "secret room", but a "secret stash" wouldn't be out of the question.

Now there is an interesting question SS, that we have not heard anything about..is all this high end jewelry he bought her missing or is it stiil at home in a jewelry box or the family safe? If I was leaving forever I would definitely take the high end jewelry, since I already was taking the 25 grand.

Ugh, what a sick freak Ignatow is. Wonder what he's up to now? I thought they got him back in jail for perjury at some point.

I was hoping the IRS would do an audit of Drew's tax returns. Somehow what he made as an officer doesn't seem to match all the assets he has.

I believe he is currently in jail serving a 9 year sentence for his testimony at another man's trial, yes. LE will be watching him like a hawk for the rest of his miserable life and find other ways to stick him behind bars. I think if I were in their shoes...oh well I can't say what I am thinking...but it isn't pretty. Let's just say he would not be "coddled" while in prison.
