Joshua Claeys seems to have vanished without a trace.

The 22-year-old Burlington man did not return home Sunday night after drinking at a local bar.

Suspicious about his whereabouts, Claeys' wife, Misty, found his car parked at Beer Tent, 217 Valley St., late Sunday night. Inside the car were the man's wallet, gloves and hat.

Nina Carle, Joshua Claeys' mother-in-law, said he was last seen in the bar at 9:30 p.m. when the bartender refused to give him any more drinks.

Family had called Joshua Claeys' friends, local hospitals and other law enforcement jurisdictions in the hopes of finding him safe. They also have filed a missing person report at the Burlington Police Department.
Carle said they also have searched along the river, but to no avail.
"When he gets upset, he goes by the river," Carle said.

Joshua Claeys is described as a white male with blonde hair and blue eyes. He is 5 feet 9 inches tall and weighs approximately 185 pounds.

He sports a crew cut and was last seen wearing a white sweatshirt with a black vest, blue jeans and brown hi-top leather shoes.

Joshua has a tattoo on his left arm that reads "Thug" and a cross on his right arm.
Misty Claeys said Joshua has noticeable scars on his left hand and left thigh.

The attached article said he had a few drinks at home and then left for the bar (with $20 in his wallet). Did he go alone? Was he meeting anyone there?

It states that the bartender refused to to serve him anymore drinks at 9:30pm. Does that mean he stopped serving him because he was too drunk or because the bar was closing? He only had $20 according to the wife. How much alcohol can you buy with just $20? The article is not clear about what time he actually left the house for the bar. Was he at the bar for an hour or five hours?

I think a lot more needs to be answered on this one.

Sounds like he had already had too much to drink by the time he got back to the bar, and the bartender (rightfully) wouldn't serve him.

Maybe he got angry and upset and went to take a walk by the river to "sober up" and then go back to the bar.

Hope he is found soon.

Wonder if he has been found? The first article is the only one I have been able to find on him. You'd think there would be a follow-up article or something.

Also, I did a search on him and it looks like he has had run ins with LE (in the past) regarding domestic abuse, intoxication, drug posession, disorderly conduct, etc. The area newspaper lists reports taken directly from daily logs of area LE agencies. Some of the agencies do not differentiate between arrests and citations, so I have no idea if he was actually arrested or not.

I've emailed the reporter/newspaper about a follow-up, but have heard nothing back from them. :(

It looks like Joshua resurfaced. He was reported in the Hawk Eye as arrested in October 2008:
