13-year-old Kyle Russell Ball left his house on Wadsworth Avenue, around 5 a.m. this morning.
Kyle, who is mildly retarded and autistic, wasn't discovered missing until late this morning by his parents.
Cuyahoga Falls police have searched the area and consider this a missing person case.
Kyle is a 13-year-old white male, five foot 10 inches, short brown hair and brown eyes. He is believed to be wearing a grayish hooded Carhart jacket and white tennis shoes.
He is also believed to be on a purple women's mountain bike.
He has a distinctive walk, walking on the balls of his feet, slightly hunched forward from the waist.

I had not heard of this case. I am very, very glad that they found him alive and okay.
I hope that they will consider using one of the S&R locator bands.
The bands are the size of a wrist watch and contain a radio transmitter. It is safe, effective and proven over the last sixty years or so. They're essentially like the transmitters they use to track wildlife.
Search & Rescue teams highly recommend them. There is a 1 mile range on the ground and five mile range from the air. S&R recommends them for Alzheimer's patients, dementia patients, people with autism, basically anyone who might wander off and then have difficulty communicating.

Thank God he was found. As a parent of an autistic child myself, my son wandering off and then hiding and not answering to the searchers is one of my worst fears.

You should contact your local Search & Rescue team and see if they use the tracker/locator systems. Our local teams swear by them, since it makes their job much easier.

No problem. I hope it helps someone.
Thanks for the welcome. (I looked for an intro thread and couldn't find one, so I just started posting.)

I don't think we have an intro thread but you can make your own if you want! Most people just start posting in the thread that brought them here.
