Portland police this afternoon announced that a citizen turned in to police personal items belonging to a 37-year-old woman who disappeared Friday and is suffering from a medical condition.

Police said they were given Heidi Anderson's coat, mobile phone, identification, and hat. The items apparently were found Sunday in an area park. Investigators went to the area where the items were found, but there is no evidence Anderson is a crime victim.

The article above says she was a Director of a child care center...as a paranoid schizophrenic, that could be very dangerous. I was surprised by this, I have worked with this disability in patients, and her working with children, could have been confusing.

A 37-year-old woman remains missing after jumping out of a moving car last Friday.
Someone found the coat, cell phone and ID of Heidi Anderson in a park on Monday, but police said they didn't think she was a victim of a crime.
Friends said Anderson opened the door and stepped out of a slowly moving car with several people inside it. Then, they watched surprised as she quickly boarded a bus near the intersection of NE 80th Avenue and NE Sandy Boulevard. The bus was bound for downtown Portland.

With no leads on the whereabouts of a 37-year-old Portland woman missing for a week, her parents today made a plea to the public for any information that would bring Heidi Anderson back.

Portland Detective Mike Weinstein, who receives about 450 to 500 reports a year of missing adults, said Anderson's disappearance is unusual. There's no evidence of foul play and nothing in her background that provides any answers as to why she's suddenly gone.

Anderson was last seen Feb. 8 about 4:45 p.m. in the area of Northeast 90th Avenue and Sandy Boulevard when she suddenly got out of a vehicle she was riding in with her roommate, exhibiting unusual symptoms of paranoia.

She had no prior long-term mental health problems, or any alcohol or drug issues, Weinstein said.

Family emailed to let us know that the discussion about any mental history is wrong and would like to set the record straight. The above article reflects this as well so the title has been edited and let's remember to be sensitive to these hurting families. "Heidi stood for integrity, honesty, and advocacy" so let's try to do the same please.

Portland police have delayed lowering at a local pond in the search for a missing woman.

Heidi Anderson, 37, was last seen nearly two weeks ago near Northeast 80th Avenue and Northeast Sandy Boulevard.

Now, authorities wanted to lower the water level in the pond at Laurelhurst Park so they can check for her remains, but rain in the forecast has postponed the effort.
