Here is a thread and poll to discuss the issue of shaving the pubic area.

The poll is anonymous, so be honest!

I thought we were discussing men. I know lots of women shave.

SuziQ,
I think the poll should include age group: 20-30; 30-40; 40-50; 50-60. I feel this issue is an age-related issue. :)

That's a good idea. I can't seem to be able to edit the poll.

And did you vote?

I did once, and couldn't stand the infernal itching. So it's not that I think "people are kinky" if they do...it's just not a personal preference for me right now.

Hey, what I do isn't up there -----

I PLUCK!!!! Yes, with tweezers - addicted to it, lol.
Works better if you do it in the sun though and actually doesn't hurt at all.

The itching goes away after a little while - been grooming for years, lol. Not that anyone gets to see it that much. I just can't stand the mophead look.

Shouldn't we add "partially shave"? Or would that be covered under trimming?

You all are cracking me up! lol.

Would this poll accurately reflect the percentage of men who shave or trim? I see where there is a place to mark male versus female. But, to get a more accurate representation of the percentage of males and the percentage of females who shave would it make sense to have a, "male poll" and a "female poll?"

Well the poll was never meant to be scientific. For one there is no age group listed and two, it appears there are not as many male members on WS as their are women. So any voting really won't be a good representative of the general public.

I just wanted a thread and poll to give everyone a place to give their opinion. And a place to discuss this away from the general discussion, since we were all doing that anyways.

Oh, come on, SuziQ, you know we only do scientific polls around here!

Lots of us have looked (233 at last count), but few have voted. Hmmm.

I voted. :D

If you make a new poll (separate for men and women, and include age choices) - us women can answer for our husbands - we know if they shave or not. ;) Otherwise, like you said, there aren't enough men to get a poll from. Just an opinion if you end up starting another one.

I voted. But my question is why does this guy shave there?
Is it to not to leave behind any evidental hairs. Or does he do this for comfort cause he works in a very warm place and it cools him or does he have some type of rash or infection or condition that requires keeping the area free of hair?
Any guesses?

azwriter, I personally think he shaves because he always, has whatever the reason. I bet it has nothing to do with evidence. He's already left his DNA all over town. And purposely so when he left the panties with Brianna.

You are more than welcome to start a better poll than the one I created. I admit I just threw one together quickly and missed a few things... lol.

Also, maybe there should be an option for sometimes. My fiance HAS shaved before, but not often. Never asked him why.

Yikes! The itching! That and the razor bumps are reasons enough to never ever ever shave! LOL

No thanks, I think I might've started one poll in my life, but don't think I'd know how to make multiple choices. Yours is fine. :D

My grandson watches WWE wrestling on Friday nights and that makes think of adding wrestlers to the group of guys that shave. Amateur or pro either one a lot of them shave.

Any guesses?Because you can't see the tree for the forest?! Because his gf or wife refuses to gag on pubic hair? Because it is perceived to be more hygienic (which I agree with)?

I am 99.8% positive the reason for him shaving has only to do with his personal hygiene and nothing to do with DNA, a rash, an infection, or any of the above. Men and women both trim or shave this area as a personal preference just as people keep their eyebrows plucked, their nose hairs trimmed, their hair styled, or get a manicure/pedicure. It isn't a big deal anymore in our society. I appreciate that men care about personal grooming in such detail. God knows women have been taking care of our "area" forever!! It is about time men caught up and realized that it is just another part of taking care of themselves for their mates.

By the way, I shave anywhere and everywhere I don't care for hair to be. Do they have a name for it?! I call it smooth as silk and it makes for a beautiful tan. :) I am decidedly not French or European. LOL (Or Britney Spears!)

I admit I lead a quiet life out here in the heartland, but I'm just not sure this whole shaving/plucking? thing is that widespread. I've known people who liked to take showers twice a day, and people who shaved their legs all the time, but down there? . . . . :waitasec:

I must live in the slow lane.

I was thinking this morning, maybe the perp shaves because it's easier to get cleaned up before going home to his significant other. He wouldn't want to go home smelling like another woman. Shaved, he could easily clean up using wet wipes etc. Unshaved, would be a lot harder to clean up without a shower. Just a thought.

But this weirdo has soft hair on his arms and chin. He probably doesn't have enough manly hair to even worry about shaving down there. Maybe he actually wears those panties and wants to have no hairs sticking out of them especially thong underwear. I think he shaves for perverted sicko reasons of some sort. Maybe he even wants to look like a little boy or something disgusting. Another thought, maybe he prefers a certain type of sexual experience and wants nothing in the way.

This is kinda off topic, but we were shopping at the new mall in So. Reno this afternoon and saw four boys maybe 17,18 or so walking outside with womens THONG underwear on over their pants.
Is this a new style that I haven't seen yet?? I should have taken a picture but was too shocked. Just when you think you've seen everything!

Just occurred to me from reading this thread.

Perhaps this gentleman spends a lot of time when he is not raping and killing, in the company of prostitutes.

If he has ever had crabs/pubic lice (which often come from being around sex workers) he may have found it expedient to stay shaved in order not to have that problem again.

I can see your point, but now I'm really confused ~ why would he abduct young women like his Nov./Dec. victims and Brianna if he's keeping company with prostitutes who "no one would miss" (thinking of the Green River killer here) if he assaulted or killed them? Of course, I couldn't possibly get inside the mind of this creep, so maybe I'm missing something!

Well, they did find a condom wrapper with DNA. He could simply be very afraid of diseases. Let's face it, they say that 16-25 year olds are the new carriers of a lot of different STDs. When you don't know who you're going to get next, and you're paranoid of disease, you might shave down there to ward off the chance.
