Young Dog Set On Fire In Lancaster
LANCASTER, Calif. Authorities are asking for the public's help in locating a suspect that deliberately set a dog on fire in Lancaster late Monday night. The badly burned dog is currently being treated at a Lancaster animal shelter.
Sheriff's deputies were dispatched to the 300 block of East Lingard Street near Foxton Avenue shortly after 11:30 p.m after receiving a call from a neighbor, said Lt. David Oliva of the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department's Lancaster Station.
The woman told a camera crew at the scene that she and her stepson heard horrible yelping sounds, went outside and saw that a dog had been set ablaze in the front yard of the vacant house next door.

OMG, this is so sickening and disturbing, I hope they find out who did this and lock them up!:furious:
How could someone inflict such pain on a poor defenseless puppy?

The lady that put out the flames truly saved the life of this pup.She said she couldn't believe she saw a dog on fire and she just pulled off her top and put out the flames. The dog was covered in gasoline first.

Oh gosh, I can't read it OR look at the cute little picture. :( Will he make it?
There was something on local news last night about a man that cut off a cat's paw. WTH? :( He's in jail, can't post bond. Yay. The cat is up for adoption after he/she heals. Poor thing.
I'm really glad there are laws that treat this seriously.

They are saying because of this woman acting so courageously and quickly the dog will survive. Lots of people wanting to adopt.

Here in Tennessee, we had someone pick up a 2 month old puppy and SHOOT it in its face.
The puppy's name is Shadow but I only heard about it on the radio, nothing on the news though.

I feel the same way.
I honestly can say that I hate them too. What possesses someone to hurt an innocent creature like this. :furious:
Personally I think that when this POS is caught he/she should be set afire to see how they like it. :furious:
Thank goodness that woman was able to save this puppy. She is a hero in my book.
I'm scared to look at the story.

I couldn't read it either. It took me about ten minutes before I could click on the topic. I am glad to see so many of you are as repulsed and saddened as I am. To think about how scared and what pain he was in literally makes me feel like I am going to be sick. I am so sensitive when it comes to animals I have to avoid stories like this. It really stays with me and I cannot stop thinking about it.
I have been an animal lover my whole life and have rescued several who I found in horrid situations or had had horrible things done to them. One of my cats, who was a stray at the time, had had firecrackers tied all over his body and lit. He had burns all over his little body and his leg was broken in three place from where someone had kicked him. That was nine years and two thousand dollars ago. He is the most affectionate, good natured, quirky cat I have ever had and I love him with every bone in my body.
Isn't he beautiful? attached photo.
Let's hope and pray this little puppy is adopted into a wonderful home.

I squinted into reading this thread! I couldn't bear to read that the poor puppy didn't survive. The good thing is that the little pup is in demand and will likely be adopted to the best of homes.
Whoever did this is more than just sick. There is something lacking, missing, or defective from the brain of this criminal. Evil would be a good description. And, we could have yet another serial killer in the making. Sickening, just sickening!

So glad the little guy is going to make it!
I am sure you have all heard of Adam the cat that was set on fire in a cage as a kitten. He goes to the same vet as my cat (Buster) and he is doing GREAT! He is very, very sweet and playful.
So these stories can have a happy ending!

What a precious face!!!
I'd take him in a heartbeat.
Hope the attempted murdering pos that did this is caught, charged and locked up for life. Next he'll set a human on fire.

I remember Adam the Cat. I remember crying my eyes when I heard about it. Thank you for the upate. It is nice to hear the happy endings to these tragic stories.
We need stricter animal rights laws in this country so people who do these things get more than a slap on the wrist and a fine. What kind of deterrent is that?
And thank you for the nice comments and messages about the pic of Everest (the cat), living proof that happy endings can grow from tragic beginnings.

Whoever did this to this innocent little puppy has no heart and no conscience. And one day their victim will be a human being. This is the act of a sadistic, cruel monster! :furious: I pray they are found soon, and punished for this sickening act!
Thank God the lady threw her jacket on the little pup, and saved him. I hope and pray he quickly heals and someone takes him home to a loving home.
God bless all of the innocent children and animals. If we don't stand up and fight for them, who will?

This is just heartbreaking. It's great that little pup is going to make it, but I think of all the animals that are abused that don't and the ones that we don't hear about. :(
What is with these folks, they are just sick, they are just a waste of space and I hate them. Sorry, don't mean to sound mean, but I'm sick of reading about the children and the animals that are abused.

I couldn't read the article or look at the picture...this just breaks my heart. How can people be so mean to animals?
My son (who is in LE) was staying with me last week while he took a class at the local academy here. He was telling me that in class he saw the most graphic picture he had seen since being in LE. I thought he was going to tell me about some accident or murder victim...um, no. The graphic picture was of a small dog that someone had "skinned" and the dog was still alive. My son said he will never get that image out of his head. The picture was in relation to a discussion of how animal cruelty can escalate into other violence. So sad!

Hello all!
Adam was adopted by his primary nurse Tina, so he comes into work with her and spends a lot of time being the "office cat"
Tina and Adam had bonded so strongly that she just couldn't give him up, and it makes sense to have someone that knows his history take care of him. He is so sweet, although slightly odd looking, but it just endears him to you all the more!

Awww that's wonderful that she adopted him. I believe she was the one in the pictures they showed on the newspaper website. I'm glad that Tina and Adam have bonded so much and he's part of her family. :) Please tell them next time you are there that friends in Texas say hello!
Thanks again for filling us in on this. :blowkiss:
