CHARLESTON, S.C. (AP) — The wife of entertainer Bill Murray has filed for divorce after nearly 11 years of marriage, alleging he abused her and is addicted to marijuana and alcohol.
Jennifer Butler Murray filed divorce papers May 12 in Charleston County. She owns a home on Sullivans Island, S.C., where she lives with the couple's four children.
The complaint was first reported by The Post and Courier of Charleston. It also alleges frequent abandonment by the former "Saturday Night Live" star.
Bill Murray's attorney, John McDougall, wouldn't comment on the allegations, but said the entertainer "is deeply saddened by the breakup of his marriage."
"He and his wife made loving parents and they are committed to the best interests of their children," McDougall said.
Jennifer Murray's attorney, Robert Rosen, said he had no comment

Too bad, I hope Bill didn't trade his sense of humor for abuse. :(


It also alleges Murray physically abused his wife and last November "hit her in the face and then told her she was `lucky he didn't kill her.'"

I so hope she's just another gold digger and none of this is true.

I totally heart Bill Murray.

I've heard he has turned into a arse over the years. Got very conceited and is a nightmare to work with. Hope it was Hollywood gossip. We know people can and do acuse each other of most anything during a divorce.
I didn't know you had to state a complaint for a divorce. Thought you just said you were incompatable. Darn. Could have made a list of complaints about my ex.

I didn't know you had to state a complaint for a divorce. Thought you just said you were incompatable. Darn. Could have made a list of complaints about my ex.

It always makes me laugh when a divorce is filed in California by a star and it's reported the reason for divorce is "Irreconcilable Difference" California is a no fault divorce state, therefore, there is no reason. They all say that. LOL!

You know, I hate this about myself, but whenever I hear something like this involving a celebrity I like, I think it can't be true. If I hear something like this (spousal abuse) involving strangers, I believe what I hear.

Why does it always seem that the Comedians come with deep issues? I don't get it..

My theory on it-Humor is a defense mechanism. I think some people learn to be funny help them cope with or deflect bad situations. Better to crack a joke and make the bullies laugh so they don't want to beat you up, better to make fun of the cool kids and act like you don't care about not being part of the "in crowd." A lot of comedians talk about being the funny dork in school-I think a lot of the funny comes from trying to protect the dork.
