Oh this case is a little confusing. Robert D. Bennefield aged 53 was granted leniency back in 1998. The Judge instead of giving him the max of 12 years in prison allowed Bennefield to go to treatment.
Back in 1998 Bennefield pleaded guilty to one count of 1st degree rape of a child, and 2nd degree assault involving two brothers. Then the article goes on to tell us that Bennefield was a Pastor of a Church, and confessed to molesting another 9 boys he met through his Chruch.:mad:All that and the Judge agreed to the leniency.
Now this dude is accused of raping another child. He purchased a throw away cell phone so he could call chat lines. He meets a guy he says told him he was 18. He goes to the kids house and is having sex with him when the father walks in. The father chased Bennefield out.
This is where it gets even more confusing. The father left a note on Bennefield's door. Ummm, how did he know where he lived and why a note? Why not call the cops? Then again perhaps walking in on your son having sex with a 53 year old man might throw ya. So, Bennefield's WIFE finds the note and convices her husband to tell on himself. I don't even know what to say after all that except the guy should have done time for his original crimes, and I doubt this boy from the chat line is the first underage victim he's had sex with. Plus, the wife. The wife had to have lost it.
