Deputies were called Thursday to a home where a neighbor had taken in the boy. His buttocks were bloodied and bruised and he had red marks on his back. He also said he thought his left arm was broken and he that had been choked. He was taken to a hospital.
Deputies found the stick apparently used in beating the boy. It had broken into three pieces. Deputies arrested his mother's boyfriend. (more at link)

I don't know... call me funny... but maybe instead of beating the child you spend some time making sure his homework is being done and helping him understand his school work if need be??

At last check beating someone is not going to make them smarter..

And where is the mother??

I fear for this boy, since if they don't hold the boyfriend in jail, what if he takes it out on the boy again?

Yeah that'll work. Beat the kid over bad grades. That'll have him pull those marks up. I'd place a bet mommy's boyfriend doesn't have much education himself. Poor kid. Too bad he coudln't quiz this dude.

Yeah, I wonder if the mom knew this was going on. It can't be the first time the guy beat the kid with a stick.

This is the same type of guy that beats a 2 yr old for a potty accident. ARGH.

yeah, they should make this boyfriend take some high school exams and if he doesn't pass...pull out the stick! What a douche this 'boyfriend' is.

When my son was getting in trouble for not doing his homework, I took away his Ipod and PlayStation. it made me feel like a really mean Mom...now I don't feel so bad.

I agree and let's not forget at 14 this boy is probably a freshman. Not excusing his bad grades, which may be a cry for help/attention, but he is transitioning from middle to high school. The courses now are very demanding compared to when I was in high school. Before I started teaching I worked as a substitute, for the same company I work for now. One of my jobs was to attend regular ed inclusion classes with students. take notes and get the correct answers for all worksheets, test and quizzes the took. This way we could help our students study. (I work with children who have autism) Let me tell you I sat in on a freshman biology course, and it was no different than the biology course I took as a freshman in college. I really hope the mother makes the right decision and chooses her child over this looser.

I wonder why they didn't arrest the mother as well! She is responsible for her child! When they start arresting BOTH abuser and the parent...then maybe the parents will STOP leaving their children with FREAKS!

It would be interesting to go back and see what this boyfriends report card from school looked like, I'm thinking it wouldn't have been so hot!

Brig, If only more parents were like you. Dealing with the iPodless, and PlayStationless kid is no treat. I been there. However, we owe it to the kids and society.

Yeah, this guy is a d*u*he. LOL:crazy:
