Manhunt Conducted On False Information

A massive manhunt had law enforcement chasing ghosts in Okmulgee County on Tuesday. Police say the teenage tipster who sparked the hunt, failed a lie detector test and made the whole thing up.

Never mind I just remember reading about a mans body found in water

BARNSDALL- Search and rescue teams have discovered the body of a Barnsdall man in Bird Creek in Osage County. The Oklahoma Highway Patrol says the body of 28-year-old Michael Todd Reed was pulled from the Creek Friday morning

The patrol is investigating Reed's death as a possible suicide.
The patrol report indicates Reed told a bartender in Barnsdall Thursday night that he was having family problems and that he was going to the bridge to kill himself. Reed also called his grandfather, who found some of Reed's personal items at the end of the bridge and notified authorities. Reed's body was found about 200 yards east of the bridge in about 10 feet of water.

Another FYI I thought interesting
Law officers destroy 2,000 pot plants

McALESTER — Law enforcement officers destroyed more than 2,000 marijuana plants Friday afternoon in a rural area west of McAlester.

Undersheriff Richard Sexton said the Narcotics Task Force of the McAlester Police Department received a tip about a marijuana patch on the western edge of Pittsburg County.

The Sheriff's Office was contacted, and both agencies were involved in the eradication after attempting to gather evidence that might lead them to whoever grew the marijuana.

Although no arrests had been made as of Friday evening, the investigation was ongoing. Sexton said the property owner "for sure" was not a suspect in the case.

Sexton could not estimate the marijuana's value but said it was the largest amount he'd seen seized in several years.

Hello to everyone. I came across this and thought it interesting that there is such a meth problem in Oklahoma. I know some have discussed this already. Apparently on the road and at Bad Creek there were people using this drug. I am curious to know more about this drug. I hear it is deadly.

http://newsok.com/article/3261363?topten_check=yes

Everywhere the former Oklahoma (http://newsok.com/keysearch/?er=1&CANONICAL=Oklahoma+Sooners&CATEGORY=ORGANIZATION) football player looked, people were doing meth. The couple who lived in the house was smoking it, but so were their grown children.
It was 3 a.m. on a Wednesday. It was a shot of reality.

Graphic photos of meth users. Gruesome, please only look if you want to see what happens to your skin after some time using meth.

Now let me find out what happens to your brain.

Patience

How does methamphetamine work?
Methamphetamine releases high levels of dopamine in the brain, a neurotransmitter that is associated with pleasurable or rewarding experiences.
After it is taken in oral form, the user experiences increased wakefulness and physical activity, and decreased appetite. For some patients, even low doses can be addictive.
With higher doses of methamphetamine, especially if it is smoked or injected, the user immediately experiences an intense "rush" (also called a "flash") that causes intense pleasure but only lasts a few minutes. Users can become addicted and dependent quickly, needing more and higher doses as the addiction progresses.
In high doses, methamphetamine causes irritability, insomnia, confusion, hallucinations, anxiety, paranoia and increased aggression. In even higher doses, hypothermia and convulsions can cause death

Thanks Tomsgirl for posting this pic and the others as well.

I wonder about this one of Peter Placker. He is wearing a nice clean, crisp white shirt. Was this not taken after the deaths of Tayor and Sklya, after going out in the heat looking for them, finding them, getting close enough to get Taylor's cell phone, out on a dirt road, flagging down Sklya's (mother"), breaking the news to her, holding her back, and still wearing a clean white shirt? Can I assume that he has changed as I would think that after such a horrid ordeal that sweat, soil, dust, blood, gun residue and such would somehow have dirtied up his shirt somewhat?

I believe this is a still image from a video interview. It would have been the next day (or within the week fallowing the murders) - not the day the murders occurred. By the time any media arrived to shoot video on Sunday (when they were killed) it was dark.
I haven't seen any close-ups of Peter Placker taken the day the girls died. I am sure he looked dreadful, he did at the funeral.
My Opinion

Help me please. I'm trying to recall another Oklahoma double murder which occurred on a county line road. That time the victims were shot on opposite sides of the road. It was about ten years (give or take) ago and I don't even remember which counties, but I think they weren't terribly far from Tulsa. Does this ring a bell with anyone?

Weleetka Slayings Evoke Girl Scout Murders

LOCUST GROVE, Okla. -- The slayings of two girls found along a rural Oklahoma road is bringing back memories of three Girl Scouts, killed at camp more than three decades ago.

Doris Denise Miller, Michele Guse and Lori Farmer were killed in their tent at a camp near Locust Grove in June 1977. The case remains open and DNA taken from the scene last year has not proved helpful to investigators.

Thank you for that website. Very interesting cases there and I want to read the whole site.

In the county line shooting I'm thinking of, I know there were trials (or at least one) but I'm not sure there was a clear resolution.

It seems like it was the property owner who shot the guys.

White Ford Pickup truck mentioned here. Yes, we need tohave a good look at all the unsolved crimes and missing people. You just never know where a clue could come from.

Leonard Dirickson (http://www.ok.gov/osbi/Investigative/Unsolved_Cases/Dirickison_Missing.pdf), (http://www.ok.gov/osbi/myweb10/PIO/Dirickison_Missing.pdf) 39 years old, was reported missing from his home near Cheyenne, Oklahoma on March 14, 1998. He was last seen in a White Ford Pickup truck with a yellow tag on the front. The pickup was driven by an unidentified white male with a full, reddish-brown beard. The two left Dirickson’s house heading for Mobeetie, Texas. Dirickson is 6'1", about 230 pounds, has a distinctive handlebar moustache. He was wearing green jeans and a faded black coat with a hood when he disappeared. A massive air and ground search was conducted with no results. Some reports indicate he may have been seen some months later in a bar in Amarillo, Texas. A lengthy investigation has been conducted to locate the unidentified driver and to gather and follow leads.

On Friday, May 29, 1992, 22-year-old Wendy Camp, her daughter 6-year-old Cynthia Britto, and Camp’s sister-in-law, 23-year-old Lisa Kregear disappeared after visiting Camp’s son in Shamrock, Oklahoma. Camp’s husband said Wendy called him during the afternoon of May 29, 1992. Camp said she was calling from a pay phone in Shamrock, and was on her way home. None of the three has been seen or heard from since. The Oklahoma City Police Department requested OSBI assistance.Jackie Wayne Urich, a white male, date of birth 3/25/58, was last seen on July 9, 1998. On July 21, 1998, Urich’s red Ford Ranger pickup, with Oklahoma tag AIM 964 was found wrecked near Coleman Road, Okfuskee County, Oklahoma. No information exists concerning the possible sale or loan of the vehicle to any other person. Witnesses reported seeing a white male and two white females near the vehicle before and after the wreck. These three unidentified individuals were given a ride away from the accident scene. To date, Urich has not been located and the three individuals have not been identified. On February 4, 1991, about 6:00 in the evening, 21 year old Robert Austin Owens was found dead in the living room of his family's rural Healdton, Oklahoma home. Owens had been shot once in the right chest area but the Medical Examiner ruled the cause of death was a single gunshot wound to the head. The murder weapon was lying beside the body. The house appeared to have been ransacked, although there were no signs of forced entry to the doors or windows. Investigators believe the only items taken during the crime were four older .22 caliber rifles. Owens was last seen about 7:00 a.m. as he left home to attend a local junior college.

I see that these cases are mostly from the 1990's. Where can I find current crimes and/or unsolved from 2000-2008?

I haven't followed much on any of the Pros. I am usually a college fan only. We go to Razorback games in Fayetteville, AR because of my husband. This year we are going to the OU / TCU game in Norman. I can not wait. Arkansas' first home game is this weekend. We will be tailgating and socializing all day. It seems a bit early but, I am ready for football season.

Well, I live down here, just east of Austin. I'm not a longhorn fan though. I'm into individual sports, not team sports.

I was born and raised in El Paso, a native Texan. My mother is from east Texas near the Louisiana border and my dad was from west Texas near the New Mexico border. My dad and I used to say the best thing about Texas was that it was so close to New Mexico. My heart really belongs to New Mexico.

My grandfather was Sheriff of Gaines County, TX, a long time ago, so we have some LE in our background.

Boots, I am sooooo glad you are here!

This song brings back such wonderful memories.

"Bad to the Bone" started playing on the loudspeaker after all the Marine helicopter air crews had off load on their return trip home from Iraq.

The Marines off loaded from the helicopter fleets way out on the flight deck away from all of the loved ones who waited and when they started approaching us they were in cadence with this music. It was so fitting and when we saw our son right on the front line coming home it was one of the most emotional times of our lives. We really knew then he had made it back safe and sound even though he had flown many missions there.

I still love this song when I hear it.

Gee, favorite corny....and this is gonna be REAL corny so don't gag...

Attitude Adjustment

Hank Williams Jr

Now I met an old friend
In the bar the other night
And he got a little drunk
And he wanted to fight
And he jumped up
And challenged every man in the room
And just about the time he got the words out
An 'ol boy jumped up and closed his mouth
And used his head for a mop
And his butt for a broom

It was an attitude adjustment
I guess it was his first time
An attitude adjustment
Now he understands just fine
He got bent out of shape
And he opened his mouth
And just one appointment
Straightened him right out
It was an adttitude adjustment
Oh It'll work every time

Well I've got this big 'ol brother-in-law
And me and him just never did get along
Because he wants to make sure
I'm treating his sister right
He got drunk one night
And started beating me up
And I went and got a tire tool
Out of my truck
And laid him out as cold as a block of ice

It was an attitude adjustment
And it will work every time
An attitude adjustment
I made him see the light
And he says I'm his kind of man
And he comes around with his hat in his hand
It was an attitude adjustment
I cured all his family pride

Now my girlfriend slapped me in the face
I said darlin that was you're first mistake
Then she went wild and her eyes turned red
She started breaking everything
And sceaming loud
And kickin me and cussin me out
And I gave her a little adjustment
On the top of the head

It was an attitude adjustment
Now she loves on me all the time
Just an attitude adjustment
She got a whole new frame of mind
She don't nag
And I don't beg
And we get along and like I said
Just an attitude adjustment
Oh everythings just fine
Well almost

She called the cops to take me in
And I said you're never gonna do it friend
And they just smiled
And said "Oh Yes We Will"
Now a stick to the head
And some kicks in the chin
And a several bites from Rin Tin Tin
And I couldn't wait to get into that jail

It was an attitude adjustment
Oh I went along peacfully
Attitude adjustment
Oh they made me cleary see
Cause my head is black
And my legs are blue
And both knee caps are bent clean through
It was an attitude adjustment
It made my whole outlook brand new
Just a attitude adjustment
It made my whole outlook brand new

Hi All, I posted this over in the Parking Lot thread but I figured I'd copy it here also, since this is where the bulk of this afternoon's activity seems to be. Just FYI...

Just in case anyone wants a nice quiet place to discuss the finer details of planning our trip to Okie, I created an invite-only group called, appropriately enough, Weleetka, OK Trip (http://websleuths.com/forums/group.php?groupid=34).

I'm thinking I have to invite those who want to join, so feel free to send me a PM if you're interested and I'll drop the invite in the mailbox. :)

Not sure if we absolutely have to do it this way, but just in case, the group's there.

Cheers,

Well, as you all know, I am technologically impaired so I have no idea how to attach a youtube thing to this so I will just toss a few songs that came to mind throughout the evening. After Hank Jr was mentioned, I immediately thought of "Family Tradition". I also thought of "More than a Feeling" by Boston, "Gypsy Woman" by Crystal Waters, "Born to be Wild" by Steppenwolf, "Photograph" by Def Leppard, "Love Shack" by the B52's, and of course "Rock and Roll All Night" by KISS. An older one that comes to mind is "Spinning Wheel" by Tom Jones. I'm not sure if any of these qualify as corny but it was fun thinking back. Plus any Temptations, Marvin Gaye, and the late, great Luther Vandross. Hope I stirred a memory or two for you guys.

I am still around, have a HUGE project I MUST get done by Friday afternoon so I am not on much, usually really late (2AM late) ....that's IF the server isn't too busy.

I am thinking I will write Tricia because I can never get on here any more. I understand the interest in the Caylee case, but I have NEVER experienced the site this busy ALL THE TIME. There has to be a way to limit access to members (vs anonymous guests) or allow only a certain numer of people on one forum at a time when traffic here spikes so that members who have things they are following elsewhere can get on easier. I NEVER visit the Caylee forum - I just come here to this forum and maybe read a little on the Nancy Cooper forum or the FLDS forum. Right now I have very little free time and I am getting discouraged with Websleuths always being busy busy BUSY these days - half the time I can't even finish a post before I get logged off due to the traffic.

I will be around - if you need to get in touch PM me. I will get the message when I can get on.

Hello MS! I assume you're speaking of Gustav. Yeah, unfortunately it looks like it's going to be quite a storm, I've been tracking it on and off through the National Hurricane Center's website. Looks to be headed right for New Orleans, just where they don't need it. Prayers to those in its path...

This hurricane is going to be so massive.? Anyone keeping an eye on it.

Yes, MS, this one is so scary and reminds us of terrible times just three years ago.

My hubby and I left Biloxi, MS, two days before Katrina struck. We just went back this past week and that town is still reeling from the aftermath. It takes so long to rebuild when so much is destroyed.

We live in SW Georgia and because of Fay we have had torrential rains up to 20 inches in one day. We always feel these hurricanes that come across the Gulf as we are on the dangerous backside (East) of the hurricanes. We always seem to have torrential rains, high winds and tornadoes spun by the feeder bands.

I just hope that Gustav does not hover, spinning in one area, once it makes landfall. That is what happened to us in 1994 when Alberto sat above Georgia just dumping rain without letting up. That caused the 500 year flood in our area and our town and surrounding towns were under water for weeks on end. We became an island with no way to get out. It took many lives and it took about 10 years to rebuild from it fully.

The wind from a hurricane is swift and gone quickly but it is the water that is the most dangerous and takes more lives and property along with tornado spin offs.

I pray for all of these people who may be affected by Gustav. I hope he simmers down before he approaches but I doubt it due to the very warm water.

Sooner, I am glad you are ok. I just got on here to check on you. Believe it or not we just got home. It was quite an exciting night. Be glad you saw it on PPV. We tried to leave right when the band quit and get on the elevator and the power kept going off. I wasn't about to get on the elevator at that point which meant walking down ramp after ramp. By then everyone was evacuating if you can imagine. It was scary with the thunder being so loud and the lightening was horrible. When we finally got to the car (I will never park in a yard again) we were pinned in by 5 cars - we sat and sat forever. Apparently the people in the car decided to hit the bars or restaurants for the night. Hours later we finally got out (thanks to a kind man who helped get us all out) and a 2 hour drive home and we are finally here. Sorry to ramble. I really just got on to see if you were ok and to catch up. The heat was awful too so I am glad you stayed out of it.

Hey everybody - I hope you had a fun and safe weekend. If you are like me your week will be turned around all week thinking tomorrow is Monday etc. I'd like to ask those of you who pray to say a few for my husband - it seems he has somehow contracted poison ivy on his eyeballs- yes, the eyeballs themselves. He is working up in Pennsylvania and took care of a co-workers' horses for them over the weekend. Today he felt as if he had an eyelash in one that wouldn't come out. The wife of the co-worker looked and watched as giant bubble blisters appeared on the whites of his eyes. Thankfully they knew an opthomogist that they were friends with and called and he met them at his office. The doctor treated him for some kind of allergic reaction- he assumes poison ivy but is not positive. Both eyes are covered in these blisters and he cannot see to drive - much less to inspect a pipeline. The doctor insisted he stay in bed tomorrow and he goes back for a checkup at 3. The kind people have even arranged a ride for him to get there. There really are kind people in the world that are willing to help. And I know many of you will sweetly say a prayer on his behalf. I appreciate it so much. It's hard enough to be this far away from him but to have him be sick and me not be there to tend to him well, it just makes it that much harder. I immediately thought of this thread and of all of the kindness you have shown. You are a great bunch of people and I feel grateful to have met(sort of ) you.

He still has a lot of meds to take and drops to put in but is on the mend and can actually see today which is a far cry (no pun intended) from yesterday. Thank you SO much for your prayers and concern. I appreciate it so very much.

Aaaaaaaaaaaaaahhh! Our Father is soooooooooooooo good!

I'll be in Dallas/Ft Worth for the next few weeks and may get up to Weleetka.
Who all on here lives near there? I know Sheza, anyone else.
Wanna meet up if I make it there?

I live in Tulsa, but I am from Henryetta and know my way around the whole area very well. If Sheza is game, maybe she and I and maybe others could meet ya. She has a hectic schedule so it is up to her. I will try to talk to her about it.

Hi Guys! I'm having trouble staying away from the dang Casey/Caylee thing, too. I don't look at it as much here though. I go to another site more for that. Too many people on this one!

I love you all, and I wish there was news on our Weleetka girls!

Sorry again to those who misunderstood what I was trying to say on thread 18. I will briefly try to explain here.
It's a shame that tone of voice cannot be heard in a posting. If it could, I believe it would have come across differently. I was in a rush, and I guess I should have paid more attention to how I was saying it. Guilty myself!
I was just trying to say, that more people read these postings than we realize, and that some locals have been hurt by things that have been said. Since then, I got a call, and it seems that most those nasty things were not said here, but at Topix. So once again, please accept my apologies.
The intent was just to say that I hope people will think a little before jumping to conclusions. I was just trying to say we need to be careful HOW we say some things. I am not accusing anyone at all, of being unkind.... I promise. I think you all know how I feel about everyone and I am not one to cast blame. I try to say what I believe my Lord would want me to say, and sometimes I am just not as eloquent as I may like to be. So please forgive me if anyone took this personally. I did not intend for that to happen. I'm sorry.
It is hard to express what others feel. I was just giving it a try. ok? Am I forgiven? Being the middle man isnt always easy.

Oh......Froggie, it's ok. My shoulders have gotten broader since joinning WS...lol.

When I read a new name, like Gaddy or Dailey, I just start digging for any kind of information.

Coming from a small town myself, I know what it's like when "people" start talking and accusing others. I HAVE LIVED IT!!!

Take care and try not to worry so much. I really think OSBI is very close to solving this sensless murder.

Thank you so much for understanding that I am a goofball! lol hey, I said it! I try to pass it off by being blonde, but old friends who have known me for years say it is 3rd degree peroxide burn to the brain after about 40 years of coloring! (It just keeps growing in dark and I have to do something about it!) hahaha Anyway, I owe you a personal message later. Will write when I return from the store and have dinner over with. :eat: It may be much later into the evening, but I will.
Thanks again, hun!

I was almost in a car accident today. A woman pulled out in front of me. I managed to swerve around her. I didn't hit her, and I didn't run into the row of trucks that were lined up to turn in where the woman came out. I had my elderly MIL in the car with me. I was taking her to the doctor.

After that, my knees got weak and I began to cry. I said, "I don't know why we didn't hit anyone."

She said, "You did a good job of driving!"

I said, "Oh no, it wasn't just me driving. I couldn't have done it by myself!"
