You know, I don't think that is what he thought, I think he was trying to explain to Nancy Grace why the mom was letting her around the uncle.
As far as I can tell from his various interviews, Jim Bennett does not know too much about the pos uncle.
That's my take on Jim Bennett's comment about Brooke visiting the cousins.

see now I have a problem with this, we can say "shame on the mother, shame on the aunt" for knowing and allowing her to visit her cousins but shame on the father as well. I know he has another family but this is HIS daughter too. He also said in an interview "there was some questions about the uncle but i've never met him" yet, he knew what he IS. I do have my questions about MOM but DAD is the other parent too! I know this is not the time to place blame but I can't help it, this had poor parenting written all over it.

Thank you SuziQ, I agree. I've had a hard time with the fact that she would not talk to the press either. Its not like Mom and Dad are still together and he was the one doing the talking, she could have added alot of insight ( obviously she didnt want to) as to what was going on. This whole thing just kills me.

Someone needs to be our childrens advocates, if its not the parents then who?

I had sincerely hoped LE had laid heavy on MJ & he broke down & told where Brooke was at.

I also don't understand why her Mom hasn't spoken begging for any information from the public. I just don't get it......she lets her daughter stay at a RSO home. Whether he has daughters or not would make no difference to me.

On the video where he was in court his eyes appeared to be wild....scared the daylights out of me. His wife Denise was at court today is she standing by her man? Lots of unanswered questions for me.

One of the posts I read this evening even stated that Jacques had been required to take some kind of a "class" as a condition for release from his last offense. News of Jacques' possible involvement with his daughter's disappearance came as a surprise to James Bennett. Brooke's father says he knew about Jacques' past conviction on kidnapping and sexual assault and had brought it up as an issue with Brooke's mother.

"It wasn't made a big deal. He was married to Brooke's aunt and there were kids there here age and there was no indication that there was a problem of any kind, so it was never made an issue," he said. "Looking back, knowing what I do today, it would have been a lot different."

I agree with your reasoning on this issue.
What can LE/Courts do to correct this everlasting and ongoing problem?
The jails aren't big enough to keep the hordes of Sex Offenders.
Everyone should be aware there isn't a magic cure and jail time does no good to stop them once they are back on the street.
We also have the problem of the young still thinking "it won't happen to me" (present case excluded)
Maybe he rented her out for a week to one of his Breckingridge friends and she will be found alive.
There's always hope.

The girl, identified only as "A.R." in court papers, said she was told two other girls also were in the program. "The first who does it lives and the second gets her throat cut," she told police, according to the affidavit.

According to the affidavit, the girl said she met two other men besides Jacques who were affiliated with the program. But it didn't specify whether the girl said she had sex with the other men.

Baker said police were investigating whether the alleged sex ring actually existed or whether it was a ruse Jacques allegedly created to intimidate the girl into having sex with him.

In the police affidavit, it says the victim was told the president of the United States had selected her for the sex program. The president assigns a trainer, and her trainer would be Michael Jacques. And then she was abused-- almost tortured-- on a weekly basis in many different ways for the next five years. The victim testified she had met three men as part of the "Breckenridge" ring who had told her what types of sexual activity she needed to work on to graduate.

Since the abuse had stopped with her (we don't know why), she was most likely petrified she could be next. She was very brave to come forward with such detail and it sounds like she poured her heart out to them. Bravo, A.R.!

This reminds me of a case where the kidnapped girl is made to sign some type of "slavery" contract and is held captive, raped, tortured etc. I can't remember the name right now. There were (and probably still are) internet groups with instructions on how to do this, with copies of contracts etc.

UGH, I feel so sorry for A.R. and any others that were subjected to this hell.

Why o why was she allowed to go off with her uncle?Because the mother didn't see Uncle Creepy as a current threat. Obviously her sister felt he was reformed since he was allowed with their own two little girls and the mother let her guard down (which should never have happened).

If they have, they have not released that information. That being said...going over Brooke's computer is how this came back to Uncle Creepy...so it is possible it came from his computer address.

Why, indeed?! On NG, Robi Ludwig went off the deep end saying that the maternal grandfather was probably a molester (makes me dislike her even more), but the truth is...we don't know why the mother would allow it and we will never know what was going on in that family. (I think it was awful to drag the grandparent into it tho with no shred of evidence.)

The Times Argus updated their site and it states what WPTZ today did when I was updating today.

The alleged victim, identified only by her initials in court papers, said she was told two other girls were in the program and had met three men affiliated with it, too. She said the girls were graded based "on how you perform," said the sworn affidavit, which was filed at Vermont District Court for Orange County as Jacques was arraigned.

Not that I'm knocking the Mom but seems to me the girl wasn't very well supervised. She was allowed at a RSO home & the family knew he was one. Once a RSO always a RSO.......just because he was married why would he change? 2 daughters gave access to 2 girls.She was allowed to travel with him / she had no means of escaping. Couldn't call for help, cell phone left at home. Where was his wife while he was doing all of this???

Do you think they picked up the uncle's computer right from the start as Brooke was staying there the night before her disappearance? If that were the case...they've known for a while about the uncle's proclivities.They stated in the presser they knew about his past history from the beginning of the case. I would assume they did not have probably cause to get a warrant for his computer until they examined Brooke's. Even if Brooke had been staying there, I don't see them being allowed a warrant on that alone and MJ would never have offered it up to them without one, imo.

That was also said on the news tonight. The she was almost tortured I was flipping stations during the news and listening to the live feed, I will try to find something about that on their websites. It was stated in the affidavit. Give me a few ok.

Probably right...just don't know how smart this guy is.When it comes to staying away from LE...I bet being in jail made him smarter as far as "due process" and what they can do. He is smart enough to have avoided the other girl telling for five years. He would not be in jail right now if that girl had not come forward when she did. You can't underestimate a predator.

News of Jacques' possible involvement with his daughter's disappearance came as a surprise to James Bennett. Brooke's father says he knew about Jacques' past conviction on kidnapping and sexual assault and had brought it up as an issue with Brooke's mother.

"It wasn't made a big deal. He was married to Brooke's aunt and there were kids there here age and there was no indication that there was a problem of any kind, so it was never made an issue," he said. "Looking back, knowing what I do today, it would have been a lot different."
