Dark, BrooksAunt is called Aunt because her mother and Brooke's step-mother are sisters. She is the step-mother's cousin. It would make her Brooke's second cousin extended (I think). Aunt and Uncle is what my kids all called my cousins, too. She does need to fix the spelling tho. :)

Brooke Bennett was killed by a previously convicted sex offender Michael Jacques. She was 12 years old and was apparently killed by her Uncle for sex. Michael Jacques was let out of prison after serving 3 years for kidnapping and rape, now he has committed murder against his 12 year old niece for sex. You've heard the news, seen the pictures. Do you have children? Are you ready to enact Jessica's Law yet?

The law is named after Jessica Lunsford, a young Florida girl who was raped and murdered in February 2005 by John Couey, a previously convicted sex offender. Public outrage over this case spurred Florida officials to introduce this legislation. Among the key provisions of the law are a mandatory minimum sentence of 25 years in prison[2] and lifetime electronic monitoring[3] of adults convicted of lewd or lascivious acts against a victim less than 12 years old. In Florida, sexual battery or rape of a child less than twelve years old is a capital felony, punishable only by death or life imprisonment with no chance of parole. Taken from Wikipedia.

Please tell me your stance now on this law after this brutal killing of a 12 year old girl in your state by a previous sex offender and kidnapper. Can you tell me whose decision it was to let Michael Jacques out of prison after only serving 3 years for rape and kidnapping?

I was in the car when my cell phone got a text message and it read "Amber Alert Canceled" I was devasted, I knew what the meant.

I am so outraged, I spoke to a few people in the area about starting a letter writing campaign. I am so glad to see people on here had the same thoughts.

I work in Public Relations and from experience, I think that letters would be more effective in this situation. That way they have to open each and every one, instead of just deleting the emails.

I actually think a forum for this case isn't needed because unless there are a lot more players or victims coming out...we will now just go into the phase of trials etc. Brooke has been found, her suspected killer is in custody along with another perp associated directly with her, and we are past the need.

I am not going to contribute One Red Cent :furious: to Brooke's mother's 'fund' that she has set up, but I am wondering if anyone (Brooke's Aunt?) has anything set up for Brooke's Father's side of the family, like a condolence page. I would like to contribute in some small way, even if it is only to send them a prayer. I hope they are aware that so many of us are devastated for their loss (and I include Brooke's mother's side of the family in my condolence).

Brooke Bennett was killed by a previously convicted sex offender Michael Jacques. She was 12 years old and was apparently killed by her Uncle for sex. Michael Jacques was let out of prison after serving 3 years for kidnapping and rape, now he has committed murder against his 12 year old niece for sex. You've heard the news, seen the pictures. Do you have children? Are you ready to enact Jessica's Law yet?

The law is named after Jessica Lunsford, a young Florida girl who was raped and murdered in February 2005 by John Couey, a previously convicted sex offender. Public outrage over this case spurred Florida officials to introduce this legislation. Among the key provisions of the law are a mandatory minimum sentence of 25 years in prison[2] and lifetime electronic monitoring[3] of adults convicted of lewd or lascivious acts against a victim less than 12 years old. Cheko..................I agree! The family waited 12 hours to report Brooke missing, and even then, it was a family friend who made the report. I keep wondering if those 12 hours would have made a difference in the outcome?

If the family had reported Brooke missing right away, she may have been found at the uncle's house before he harmed her.

To me that raises red flags all over the place that they at least were scared he did something to her.
Why would you not call immediately after finding out she's supposedly not with the uncle anymore, she supposedly with some friend off to a hospital, with no cell phone, and Brooke doesn't have a history of running away or taking off for hours, according to Jim Bennett. The mom wasn't a little upset!!
Why didn't they call and report her missing??

When I first watched it I noticed that Brooke was standing behind her uncle while he paid for something (which WAS NOT COFFEE...which he had claimed he purchased) with her arms crossed like she was waiting on him... She never looked around or out the windows as if looking for someone she was meeting up with. At the time it struck me as very odd...and now it nearly shouts at me to watch it again.

Even though I don't agree with Brooke's mother in that she let Brooke visit her cousins' house when she knew an RSO resided there, I still feel very bad for her - she lost her youngest child! I am absolutely certain that she would give anything to 'undo' this, but it is just not possible. I guess I just hate pointing fingers at someone when they are not only down, but when they are at the absolute lowest place they could-or-will ever be.

I think it is possibleprobable that she may have even raised concerns about letting Brooke (and her other children??) go to their cousins' house when the RSO was there, and that people (sister, mother, etc.) could have very well convinced her that there was no reason to be concerned...

As we all know, sex offenders are very good at manipulating people...Jacques may very well have convinced everyone in his inner circle that the charges were a mistake...since the first victim (that we know of!) was 18 when the rape/kidnapping occurred, he may have even given the FALSE explanation that they were 'dating' and she was mad and made up the charges and he pleaded guilty out of the kindness of his heart so she would not be traumatized by having to testify...we all know that's not how it happened, but he may have been able to convince his family because that is what they wanted to believe...

I guess I am trying to request that we don't jump all over mom just yet - let's wait and see how this plays out...let's give her the benefit of the doubt for a bit.

I admit that I am not crazy about the way she handled the entire situation, but I am sure that she also is not crazy about the way she handled the entire situation!

I have always tried my hardest not to judge others, and to give people the benefit of the doubt.

TL, It wasn't in the affidavits. It is just speculation here because the other cousin/victim was abused by this same man for five years right under her mother's nose...and he was also a known registered sex offender and the last one seen with Brooke. People here were just wondering why her mother let her be around this man and why so many hours passed since she had gone missing.

On the other hand, I forget who posted this earlier, but sex offenders are a very manipulitive bunch and they come up with all types of ways to instill a false sense of trust in victims and most likely the parents of said victims.

Nope - not the same. I'm not saying women can't be sexual predators, but it's NEVER the same. I'm not saying it's okay - but it's so very different.

I totally agree with you in that these freaks cannot be rehabilitated. I don't know what kind of studies the "authorities" do on these freaks, but they are not fixable. Jacques did 3 years for his prior offense (the one he was caught for!). How is that sufficient? He basically set up a "candy store" and he - and who knows how many others??? - were the kids! Btw~ The details are that she was an 18yo co-worker in a fast food place. He and another person kidnapped her. He tied her hands, put a rope around her neck, stuffed a cloth in her mouth, and continually raped her for hours.

oh....and also TL...the part about the aunt/wife of suspect, there was some info in that affidavit...that the mother came upstairs to her bathroom to find her daughter wrapped in a towel, ky jelly and an adult dvd in her marital bedroom, and a dry shower.... but when she asked what b was doing...b said she had taken a shower. The Aunt also found male and female child porn on the computer with children the same age as her daughter and a dildo in the child's bedroom.

It is just speculation here because the other cousin/victim was abused by this same man for five years right under her mother's nose...and he was also a known registered sex offender and the last one seen with Brooke. People here were just wondering why her mother let her be around this man and why so many hours passed since she had gone missing.

The past year and a half he has lived in TX, but frequently visits the family. The mom had a bf named Tim (according to BD who claims to know him and says he is a drunk) until Ray came back this time and she ditched him because Ray would be here. Ray admitted to having tons of child porn as young as 5 yo on his computer and various places. He also admitted having sex with RA and MJ at the same time. My guess is that he did in fact have sex with Brooke during those years. I believe it will begin to all come out as this case against her step-father grows. As far as the mom...same goes for her. We will learn how much she knew and when.

The entire family both sides knew about MJ's past history and convictions. The bio father tried to get the mom to keep her away from him to no avail.

1- the cousin lured her with full knowledge of what was about to happen (at least in terms of the sex part)

2- on the store tape brooke's body language was disturbing...crossed arms, pensive look on face...kind of following behind MJ like a puppy.

3-the runaway ruse is set up the day before the crime

4-cousin swears in affidavit that the third girl in the program gets her throat cut and didn't know why she was still alive

In my opinion there are more victims out there. I would say some of the child porn images on Gagnons computer are of Brooke and Savanna. I have been trying to track down who is related to who etc because I also believe there are other abusers involved in this and they will be family connected some how. Not having a bunch of luck there they all seem to have been married several times and lots of half brothers, sisters etc out there.

I am also not convinced Gagnons landlord is somehow not involved, no one in their right mind would throw away evidence of child porn (and he admitted thats what he figured was in the safe). So why would the landlord cover for him and dispose of evidence. Won't he be charged with destroying evidence as well? He says he threw it in a dumpster, I can't help but wonder if he just hid it elsewhere hopefully they are searching that house with a fine tooth comb.

I also think this had been going on with Brooke for years and they were afraid the two girls might get together and tell, but if they killed Brooke, A.R. would be too frightened to tell anyone anything.

I've been watching this case from the beginning. I havn't posted anything about it. To me, it's too disgusting and vile for me to actually fathom. I knew the probable outcome, however, with everything inside of me I was holding onto some hope. I really felt just maybe some other POS had her. It truly brings me to tears. Cheko..................I agree! The family waited 12 hours to report Brooke missing, and even then, it was a family friend who made the report. I keep wondering if those 12 hours would have made a difference in the outcome?

If the family had reported Brooke missing right away, she may have been found at the uncle's house before he harmed her.

Thank God the family friend called LE / the family may never of did it.

We know she was alive for a few hours because MJ picked her up / took her to his place/ Brooke & A watched TV / MJ went downstairs to get her raped her & the rest is history. So there was some time to get her out alive.

FBI: Brooke's uncle hatched abduction plot beginning in May

Brooke Bennett's uncle began plotting her abduction a month before the 12-year-old disappeared, court records released this morning say.

Michael Jacques, 42, of Randolph, created and used two phony e-mail addresses to communicate with a 14-year-old girl about a sex program he invented named "Breckenridge" and to solicit the teenager's help in luring Brooke into the program.

Brooke's body was found by police Wednesday near Jacques' home in Randolph, a grim conclusion to a weeklong search for the missing girl. Jacques has been arrested and charged in state court with sexual assault on the 14-year-old, and faces federal kidnapping charges in Brooke's disappearance.

The affidavit prepared by FBI Special Agent Daniel Rachek suggests that the sex program known as "Breckenridge," was the creation solely of Jacques', a convicted sex offender.

A series of e-mail exchanges quoted in the affidavit and dating back to at least May 28 indicate Jacques intended to abduct Brooke and assault her. In the e-mail exchanges, Jacques uses multiple online identities to manipulate the 14-year-old girl into believing at least three men are involved in the Breckenridge sex ring, the affidavit shows, with two online personas ordering her what to do.

In one exchange dated June 20 between the girl and Jacques, posing under the online pseudonym "Rauel Domingo," Jacques asks the girl if she would willing to help with "the take down and the tie up on Wednesday morning when you get back from Cumberland Farms."

To me that raises red flags all over the place that they at least were scared he did something to her.
Why would you not call immediately after finding out she's supposedly not with the uncle anymore, she supposedly with some friend off to a hospital, with no cell phone, and Brooke doesn't have a history of running away or taking off for hours, according to Jim Bennett. The mom wasn't a little upset!!
Why didn't they call and report her missing??

The mom seemed to be worried about the family dynamics....I'm sure the family tried to prtotect MJ from LE with his sordid past. Worrying what Denise & his daughters would do.Since MJ's lawyer stated him being in jail would put financial pressure on the family & requested bail for that reason.

The family was probably trying to protect Denise. They had a very nice home & the payments had to be made. MJ had to be a smooth talker to be able to lure people to him & suck them into his way to thinking.

You know everybody always talks about how baby killers/child abusers won't last long in prison etc etc..I have yet to hear about anything bad ever happening to them. Look at SP? Nothing happened to him yet. My brother works for a prison in Alabama and he told me that the prisoners are protected. Sooo yeah anyway i'm sick of hearing that oh he will get his in prison..because no, he won't. :furious:

Hello! I haven´t posted before and I can´t remember how I ended up here, probably while looking for information about something. Anyway, about the latest news of that uncle worked alone the whole plan is hard to believe. He must have had some kind of source and I´m sure he has other sick friends than ex-stepfather to Brooke. Could he alone come up with a plan so evil and disgusting? I don´t think so - but maybe it´s just me?
