A call Casey made home from jail has been released. Audio @ http://www.orlandosentinel.com/news/local/crime/orl-audio-caylee-marie-missing-072508,0,237054.audiogallery
I couldn't find a transcript when I listened so I tried transcribing for those who can't listen for some reason. This is as accurate as I could make it - if I couldn't understand something, I've marked in unintelligible. If there was something I left out, I summarized it [like the name thing]. If anyone reads and listens, then notices any glaring errors, please let me know.
CI is CIndy, CA is CASey, LA is Lee (casey's brother), and FR is Christina, who I think is Casey's friend?
[ringing, phone picked up, robotic voice over about call coming from the jail, and being recorded]
CI: Casey?
CA: Mom
CI: Casey
CA: Well, I just saw your nice little cameo on tv
CI: Which one?
CA: What do you mean which one?
CI: Which one? I did four different ones, and I don't know... I haven't seem
them all. I've only seen one. or two so far.
CA: You "don't know what my involvement is in stuff"?
CI: Casey...
CA: Mom
CI: What?
CA: No
CI: I don't know what your involvement is, sweetheart. You're not telling me
where she's at.
CA: Because I don't ****ing know where she's at. Are you kidding me?
CI: Casey. Don't waste your call to scream and hollar at me.
CA: Waste my call? Sitting in, oh... the jail?
CI: Whose fault is you sitting in the jail. Are you blaming me that you're sitting
in the jail. Blame yourself(?) for telling lies. What do you mean its not your
fault? What do you mean its not your fault, sweetheart? If you'd have told them
the truth and not lied about everything they wouldn't...
CA: Do me a favor. Just tell me what Tony's number is. I don't want to talk to you
right now. Forget it.
CI: I don't have his number
CA: Uhm Well get it from Lee because I know Lee's at the house. I saw Mallory's car
was out front. It was just on the news, they just were live outside the house.
CI: I know they were
CA: Well?
CI: Well?
CA: Can you get Tony's number?
*pause, Cindy gives phone to Lee*
LA: Hey...?
CA: Hey. Can you give me Tony's number.
LA: I... I can do that. I don't know what... real good it's going to do you at this
point.
CA: Well, I'd like to talk to him anyway.
LA: Okay-
CA: Because I called to talk to my mother, and it... it's... it's a ****ing waste.
Oh, by the way, I don't want any of you coming up here when I have my... my first
appearance for bond and everything else. Like, don't even waste your time coming
up here.
LA: You know, you're having a real tough... you're making it real tough for anybody
to want to even assist you with giving you [Casey talks over, unintelligible]
Tony's phone number. You're not even letting me finish. I really-
CA: Go ahead
LA: First you're asking for Tony's phone number so you can call him. And then you
immediately want to start cussing towards me, and start saying don't even worry
about coming up here for all this stuff, and trying to cut us out.
CA: I'm not trying to cut anybody out.
LA: I'm not going around and around with you. You know? That's pretty pointless.
I'm not gonna go through... not going to put everybody else through the same
stuff you've been putting the police and everybody else through for the last
twenty-four hours, and the stuff you've been putting Mom through for the last
four or five weeks. I'm done with that. So, you can tell me what's going on.
Christina would love to talk to you 'cause she thinks you will tell her what's
going on. Frankly, we're gonna find out. Something - whatever's going on, it's
going to be found out. So why not do it now, save yourself [unint]
CA: There's nothing to find out. There's absolutely nothing to find out. That's even
what I told the detectives.
LA: Well, you know everything you've told them is a lie
CA: I have no clue where Caylee is. If I knew where Caylee was, do you think any of
this would be happening? No.
LA: Anyway, you've only got a couple of minutes of this. I'm not gonna let you clearly
waste it. Here's Christina. She thinks she can get through to you.
LA: No. No. I want Tony's number. I'm not talking to anybody else.
CX: Hello?
Ca: Hi. I'm glad everybody's at my house. I'll have to call you later, or I'll... have
to call somebody to get your number. Do me a favor and get my brother back because
I need Tony's number.
Fr: Okay.. Uhm, is there anything I can do for you?
CA: I'm sitting in jail. There's nothing that anybody can do right now.
Fr: Well, I'm just trying to be...
CA: Oh I know you are, honey. I absolutely know that you are, and I understand
everything that you're trying to do but uh, I'd like to call Tony. He's not
at my house, is he?
Fr: No, it's just me. And your parents. And Lee.
CA: Ok, well. Can you do me a favor and get my brother back, or get the number
from him please.
Fr: Uhm, Does Tony have anything to do with Caylee.
CA: No. [noticeable pause] Nothing.
fR: Ok, so why... do you want to talk to Tony?
CA: I...
FR: You probably don't want to tell me, do you?
CA: What did you.... I didn't hear what you said?
FR: I said did Tony have anything to do with Caylee.
CA: NO, Tony had nothing to do with Caylee.
FR: So why do you want to talk to him?
CA: Because he's my boyfriend. And I want to actually sit and talk to him. Because I didn't
get a chance to talk to him earlier. Because I got arrested on a ****ing whim today.
Because they're blaming me for stuff that I never would do, that I did not do.
** {1 - the Y in 'my' is very drawn out - 'myyyyyyyy'. Dunno why I hang on that, but I do}
FR: Well, I'm on nobod... I'm on your side, you know that, right?
CA: Oh honey, I know that. I want to talk to Tony, get a little bit of...
Fr: Casey. You have to tell me if you know anything about Caylee.
CA: Sweetheart, if I
Fr: If anything happens to Caylee, Casey, I'll die [crying] Do you understand? I'll die, if anything happens to...
CA: [breaking in] Oh well
Fr: that baby.
CA: Oh. My. God. Calling you guys? Waste, huge waste. Honey, I love you. You know I would not let anything happen to
my daughter.
Fr: Well, how come everybody's saying that you're lying?
CA: Because nobody's ****ing listening to anything that I'm saying. The media completely misconstrued everything that
I said. The ****ing detectives told them [?? pretty sure she says "****ing bull****"]. They got all of their
information from me, yet at the same time, they're twisting stuff. They're... they've already said they're going
to pin this on me if they don't find Caylee. They've already said that.
FR: Well.
CA: They arrested me because they said that...
Fr: Yea, because they said that the person you dropped Caylee with doesn't even exist.
CA: Because. Oh, look, they can't find her in the Florida database. [noticable pause] She's not just from FL. [noticable
pause] If they would actually listen to anything I would have said to them, they'd have had her [?? -"lease?"
"leads"?], they maybe could have tracked her down. They haven't listened to a ****ing thing I've said.
FR: Do you know that... Whoever has Caylee, nobody's going to get away with it. Nobody.
CA: I know nobody's going to get away with it. But at the same time, the only way they're going to find Caylee is if they
listen to what I'm saying. I'm trying to help them. They're not letting me help them.
FR: Well, how can I help them find her? The best thing you can do, baby, listen to me...
CA: They need... to look up her information in a NY database. In a NC database. Other places that she's lived outside of
Florida. That's what I told them even again today. I told them that four times today. I sat up at the police station-
the county police station from-
FR: Is she the one who has Caylee, or has she transferred Caylee to someone else?
CA: Honey, I haven't talked to her. I don't know. I haven't talked to her.
Fr: How come everybody's saying that you're not upset, that you're not crying, that you show no caring of where Caylee is
at all?
CA: Because I'm not sitting here ****ing crying every two seconds. Because I have to stay composed to... talk to detectives,
to... make other phone calls, to do other things. I can't sit here and be crying every two seconds like I want to. I can't.
FR: Okay, Casey. Don't yell at me. I'm on your side. I'm on your...
CA: [Unint. "No, you're not?"]. I know you're on my side
FR: Trust me. Nobody is saying anything bad about you. Your family is with you 100%
CA: No they're not. That's ****ing bull**** cause I just watched the ****ing news and heard everything my mom said. Nobody in my
own family is on my side.
FR: Yes they are. Nobody has said
CA: They just want Caylee back. That's all they're worried about right now, is getting Caylee back. And you know what? That's all
I care about right now.
FR: Casey. Your daughter. ["Your"? "They're"?] your flesh and blood. Your baby girl...
CA: Christina. Please, put my brother back on the phone. I don't want to get into this right now with you. I love you honey, and
I'm glad that you're there. Thanks for you help. I will let you know if there's anything that you can do.
FR: You can't tell me anybody that can find Caylee? Nobody?
CA: No. Because every number that I've tried, every number that I've called is disconnected. Nothing. I can't get ahold of anybody.
FR: But that, that girl was the last person to have her?
CA: She was the last person to have her. That was the last time I saw Caylee.
FR: Ok. Lee says he doesn't have Tony's phone number.
CA: Yes he does. He has Tony's phone number in his phone. He needs to stop ****ing lying. He just told me that he's not going to go
give me the number
FR: So if I go and get you Tony's number, are you going to finish talking to me?
CA: I... I will call you tomorrow. I want to talk to him really quick now, and I want to actually try to close my eyes. I haven't
slept in four days. I have not slept in four days.
FR: Listen. If you're going to talk to anybody, you can talk to me. You know that.
CA: I know I can talk to you. But at the same time, I know I can talk to Tony, and that's who I want to talk to right now. I haven't
gotten a chance to talk to him since this morning since all this stuff happened. With trying to set up the MySpace -I made the
Myspace, and [unint]
FR: Do you know the password to that Myspace?
CA: I made all of it!
FR: What's the password to that MySpace so we can see if anyone's wrote in any leads of where Caylee may be.
CA: You can go online and see it. As far as messages, I don't know if anybody's going to be messaging stuff. The pass [inaudible,
edited out in tape]
[Christina confirms the pass, you can hear Lee in the background but not clearly all the time. He asks Christina to hold on one second]
[for him. PURELY SPECULATION on my part, but I feel as if he is writing things down and trying to get Christina to ask them, rather than]
[letting Casey hear him ask Christina certain things]
FR: Ok, um. Tony's number. You ready?
CA: Yea
FR: [inaudible, edited out in tape]. Can Tony tell me anything?
CA: Baby, Tony doesn't know anything. And I haven't even talked to him since this morning.
FR: Has Tony seen Caylee?
CA: Tony hasn't seen Caylee since the beginning of June. What was the number again? I will
find a way to call you back later. Leave your number at my house with my mom so I can get
it. And I will either call you later tonight or in the morning [<- not sure if it was 'in the morning' exactly, but it was close*]
FR: How can I get ahold of you?
CA: Uhm, I'm at the jail - you can't.
FR: Okay. Can you... do you have a way to write my phone number down?
CA: No. I have no way of writing it down. I have to remember Tony's number. [unint] try to memorize his number right now.
FR: Ok
CA: No. I. Just leave your number with my mom, and I will try to call you in the morning if I don't get a chance to call you tonight.
FR: So. How can I find out the information about that girl? Is that in Florida, or...
CA: Have them look up a NY license for a Zenaida Fernandez Hyphen Gonzalez. They've just been looking up the last name Gonzalez or the
last name Fernandez, If they'd look up her entire name, they might actually find her. They haven't done that. They haven't listened
to anything I've said.
[spelling of Zenaida is clarified, full name is repeated 2x]
FR: Where does she live? Because they went and looked at her place-
CA: Christina, baby, you're not telling me anything I don't already know. Again, I only been in jail since ohhh, about eight-thirty
tonight. I was with them all day today. I know that. I was with officers pretty much since nine o'clock last night up until today.
Like, up until this evening when I came up here.
FR: But you're telling the whole truth and nothing but the truth? 'cause they'll find-
CA: [unint] have no clue where my daughter is. Yea, that is the truth. That is the absolute truth
FR: They'll find out. And whoever-
CA: oK, Christina. I'm hanging up. I need to make this other call before I forget the number. So I will call you later.
FR: OK
CA: Bye

Great job on this! Thanks a lot!
Regarding the place where she was asking for Tony's number and she stretched out the "my-y-y-y" - I thought she was hesitating as to how she was going to describe their relationship, and then chose the word "boyfriend".
As in "he's my-y-y-y......... boyfriend".
Listening to her speech patterns and listening to the interactions between her and her mother and most especially, her brother, this young woman sounds to me like she has long standing mental illness problems. The brother makes the statement that he's not going to "go around and around with her" (or words to that effect) - meaning he's had the experience of being in coversations with her that did "go around and around".
Casey states to the girlfried Christine that she (Casey) "has not slept for 4 days". Casey is a practiced liar, adept at providing "proof" of her statements - such as providing non-existent names of a boss and co-workers,
details of a non-existent job including a non-existant office and telephone extension.
Bi-polar disorder? Schizo-affective disorder?
Family members who have been close to Casey for many years know exactly what her behavioral patterns are and have been. They most probably don't know what to believe of what she says.
I do think it is a shame that police released the tapes of the jailhouse conversations, because if they hadn't done so, she may have eventually spilled some information to either a family member or a friend during another conversation.
What good reason did police have for releasing the recordings?

Wow, you did do an awesome job on the transcribing of that!!! Her tone in that phone call is a very familiar tone to me, as I have a very close longtime friend who is a habitual liar, my friend is bi-polar and a hypochondriac. Of course I am not saying Casey is the same (I'm not a dr. so i can't say that), I'm just saying those pauses and the dragging out of some words are very familiar to me.

at least you got the part right about closing her eyes, people keep going off on tangents about tracking down this Mike person - there is no Mike that she wanted to call, she never said that.

I don't think LE had a choice. I read somewhere (don't have a link) that all these calls are public property and that the news media can request them. I got the impression that the media has to pay some type of fee to obtain them.

Reading gen discussion #18, curiositycat says something that sets the bells and whistles off for me about about the 'myyyyy'. S/he's talking about Tony and Casey, and says 'She was way more into him then he was into her'.
When I was younger, I used to have a friend who had huge issues with self-esteem. She'd get these really screwed up boyfriends [stupid druggies or suburban 'gangstas', who looked like rat terriers, you know] and each one was a prize, somehow godlike in her mind. She'd draw their names out like that when she spoke of them, and use the same godawful 'myyyyy'. I can't articulate what I'm thinking, but something about it ... reminds me of a house cat who has just made a kill.

Here is my take on Casey needing to call Tony after she was in jail. Casey wanted to talk to Tony to tell him she had nothing to do with Caylee going missing. I have been around this kind of person who thinks that as long as they can say they did not do it, then they are 100% believed and accepted and then everything is okay.

I have to comment that I am floored by Caseys reaction to her friends concern for Caylee. To reply with "Oh Well" and Oh (long pause) My (long pause)God.... to her friends tears and emotion over Caylees well being shows me Casey is completely detached from her daughter and void of emotion for her daughter. It makes me ill. This girl can't even FAKE emotion for her daughter. Seems the new boyfriend, maybe someone not so interested in kids? may have been the catalyst to set this scenario off with getting rid of Caylee.

Me too Christine, that she doesn't want to get into this right now. If it were me and my child..... I'd have a hard time talking through sobbing and BEGGING my friends and family to do absolutely everything in their power to find my son. Not to mention I would have had that same hard time while talking with LE.

I'm curious why she doesn't already know her boyfriend's phone number. It's irrelevant, but still makes me curious.

cell phone culture.
get a number, put it in your cell phone, never dial it again. just select the person's name from a menu. and many young people these days always have their cell with them and always use it.

I recently went back and actually listened to this phone call and was floored by how cold and callous she was concerning Caylee, but reading it in black and white? That is a REAL shocker. I hope they hand a transcript of this call to the jury when they are doing their deliberations! My God she is heartless, utterly without a soul!

Thanks for dragging this out of mothballs! It's an oldie, but a goodie! The famous "Oh well..." recording. That and "arrested on a effin whim today". UNBELIEVABLE.
I'm not so sure that this can be introduced at trial. Is it evidence of anything other than her snotty attitude, total disrespect for everyone and her entitlement issues? These are all things she's guilty of, but she hasn't been charged with them.

From everything we've heard, it would appear that Casey was a lot more serious about the relationship with Tony than he was. He impresses me as being a young college kid, living for the present, with no thoughts of any long term relationship with a girl. Like most young twenty-somethings, he wasn't ready for any sort of commitment. During their brief relationship, Tony evidently stated that when he married and had children, he only wanted boys not girls. That statement alone could have been the catalyst for Caylee's demise.
While Casey was thinking in terms of a serious relationship and marriage, Tony was only thinking in terms of a brief fling.
edited to add (because I lost my train of thought)...............I thought Casey's reaction to Christina's honest emotion, incredibly cold and callus, a real indication of a heartless sociapath. There was also anger in Casey's reaction, as if she was angry that Caylee, and not her, was the focus. For Casey, that whole phone call had only one goal, and that was getting Tony's phone number. She needed to "set him straight" about what had happened.............Tony was much more important to her than the loss of Caylee.

Thanks for transcribing. It brings it all back in such a rush of emotion!
I think the jury might hear this as evidence that she did name Zenaida Fernandez-Gonzales as the last person she saw Caylee with, and not just to the police whom she "didn't trust."
Plus ITA that it would nail her in the sentencing phase.

I went to sleep with this in my heart. How could any mother react this way when her child was missing and she had no clue what was happening to her or even if she was still alive? I think this one phone call goes a long long way to showing Casey Anthony's TRUEST colors.
What caring mother is so unconcerned over her own child? So what if she had already had 31 or more days to "get used" to Caylee being gone? It was brand new information to everyone else and she had no feelings, none whatsoever, nor compassion, for those who ACTUALLY cared about Caylee...
The friend crying and her reaction? Enough to make me vomit almost!!!

It's so strange to listen to this call all over again after all these months...I tried to think about what my call home might sound like if I were in the same situation - and I can only imagine that I would be blubbering and begging my family to get out of that house and go searching. I would be throwing out every possibility...every place they might check...every person who might know anything.
It sounds to me like Casey didn't want to think about Caylee at all and the reason she kept getting irritated, especially at the friend, is because she kept being reminded of her. I think it was easy for Casey to put Caylee out of her mind, and she was doing so quite successfully, and then it filled her with rage that the others kept talking about Caylee.
How is it possible for a MOTHER to behave this way? Sometimes I am unable to wrap my head around certain people and their behavior...

This call + the video of her sashaying when she was arrested in the blue "82" shirt + the 31 days + the party pictures = a guilty verdict. They can try and confuse the jurors and poke teeny holes into the mountain of evidence, but those few things will seal her fate.

Not knowing her bf number..
it might well have been because she always used the cell phone to dial it, but I wonder if he hadn't changed it to avoid her calls.. perhaps gave it to LA so that the family could still contact him if there was some need to do so, but asked them not to give it to KC. He seemed to realize early on that he was entangled with a ..well.. with a bad person.. and promptly set about cutting ties to her.
I can only imagine how it felt when he first realised what sort of person he had been living with and keeping company with for the past month..horrifying.

This phone call was one of the first 'tip offs' I really had that KC wasn't some confused scared little girl or someone living in denial, but a true moral idiot. It is as thugh she had no grasp at all what a real mother would act like under these circumstances.. mad at her mother for having people at the house while she wasn't there.. mad at ppl for caring more about Caylee's whereabouts than about her sitting in jail..not offerring any suggestions towards finding her.
Obviously any halfways normal mother would have been pleading and begging with everyone to go search someplace, and keep coming up with places to send them to look..of course any normal mother would have been running around frantically herself for the past month searching everywhere she could think of, calling out family friends and if possible the entire national guard to search for that baby.
At least, for her own sake, she could have acted concerned, instead of tacking on 'Caylee is all I am concerned about too' as an after thought to "All anyone cares about is Caylee"
I say it again.. a true moral idiot
This was the first time I have heard the entire call, it truly is haunting me. The first thing out KC's mouth should have been have you heard anthing about Caylee not making fun of CA's cameo. The mindset is so self centered, it overwhelms me. Poor Caylee never had a chance with that monster for a mother.

Considering the circumstances, imo, this is the most bizarre exchange between a mother and daughter in existence. Can anyone find just one normal comment by either of them?

It is certainly not normal that the first concern KC had was about CA's media appearances, not about Caylee.
In retrospect, knowing all we know now, perhaps that was a defining moment that illustrated motive right from the get-go?
It was also our first exposure to the CA/KC dysfunction and fore-shadowing of what we could expect from CA's media infamy in the months and year to come?
The more I listen to this audio over and over, the more I pick up little nuances where KC paused as she made up 'new' details about the Nanny as she was on the phone (i.e. NY database.) So evasive. Won't answer Kristina when she asks where Zanaida lives, instead she *****es about being in jail.
After listening to it over and over, I have to admit that I am freshly horrified all over again.

I'm curious why she doesn't already know her boyfriend's phone number. It's irrelevant, but still makes me curious.
My thoughts EXACTLY. WTF??? She was up TL's butt day in and day out, stayed on the phone with him for hours on end....but doesn't know his number?

Another thing that strikes me as soooo strange is SWEETHEART. I would have been "you little witch you better tell me where my DGD is NOW" from the moment I knew that she was missing. I dunno. We will never figure this family out.

It wouldn't matter if they play this phone call at her trial. The above quote from the conversation shows which direction KC would take,as she is explaining to her friend. She is running with the "I couldn't let my mind go there,I had to keep coherent and calm,so I can talk to detectives, make phone calls and do other things." And of course her lawyers would be aghast that people couldn't realize that this is exactly what KC had to do to cope, and aren't we cold and heartless people for not realizing that.

Sunshine laws. They are releasing everything.
No, she's not bipolar, nor schizoaffective.
She was examined by two shrinks, found legally sane, and most importantly NOT put on any medications.
She's likely a sociopath with a narcisisstic personality disorder. There is no treatment for that. No Axis I disorder was found, AEB she is not in treatment.

Yep! That's why she threw tantrums when CA asked her for infomation re: Caylee, during jail visits.

Not to mention I would have had that same hard time while talking with LE.
Yeah, most (innocent) women would be monomaniacle, during calls. One wouldn't be able to get them OFF the subject of the missing baby.

She wasn't serious about TL. She gets "serious" about all her bfs. She starts in the the "L" word w/i a weeks or two of starting the relationship. If there's a break-up (from her getting to pushy too soon), she just gloms onto another guy (AEB Ricardo-TonE).
And, she always cultivates a back-up guy. TonE was only out of town a few days, when she was lining up another guy.
She doesn't LOVE. Sociopaths aren't wired for love. She can obsess, but that's not the same thing. She replaces "loves" like she'd replace torn stockings.

Yeah, this and the 31 days was what pushed me over the edge early on. Her angry lack of concern for anyone but herself was very telling. I thought then that, if she is a sociopath, she is certainly not sophisticated enough to even FAKE the emotions she needed to exhibit to exonerate herself. Which might be for the best when it comes to trial. She was constantly being fed cues by her family about what "might" have happened, or what she was "feeling" and, in spite of that, when she is fixating on herself, she totally ignores all of the blatant enabling and coaching.
I always thought that this and the Aug 14 jail cell visit were just so slam dunk about her lack of feelings for her daughter. They don't prove murder, but they prove that an idiotic malignant narcissist could not even manufacture enough convincing behavior to care enough about a missing daughter to convince her family or friends, much less the public.

I think I said this before a long time ago, but this is THE call that convinced me that Casey did not care one bit about Caylee, and that she had something to do with that precious girl's death. How could anyone be so COLD? Her friend was crying her eyes out and Casey is wanting to talk to her boyfriend through the whole thing.
Her outright lies about how she told the police everything and they are misconstruing stuff.... I listened to the whole interview when they got to Orlando studios... How can the police misconstrue anything???? They took her everywhere she wanted. She lied to them about EVERYTHING. The jury HAS to hear this call, and the interview where they took her to Orlando Studios. That is all it will take. If the jurors aren't allowed to hear these two conversations, it would be a travesty of justice.

:blushing: I am so there with you. Just the other day I couldn't find my little girl in the house. I had been putting dishes away and realized I hadn't seen her. I call her name, no answer. My heart falls into my stomach. The panic was astounding. I'm running all over the house looking for her on the verge of complete hysteria... and then I find her, on my bed, sleeping.. completely covered. I think it took me a quite a few hours to come down from that. It's not the first time she's done something like that either.
Casey actions prove to everyone she did not have the typical and expected mother reaction when her child was missing.

Wonder if LE or FBI enhanced audio to hear background conversation . . . I can hear CA(?) talking initially in the background especially right after calling LA to the phone. Clearly anger is "couched" in words like "sweetie", "honey" with both CA and KC.

Outstanding transcript...thank you.
Snipped quote from Lee:
"and the stuff you've been putting Mom through for the last four or five weeks. I'm done with that.."
The hammer comes down on both Cindy and CA with this statement. It speaks volumes about the environment in that house during the 30+ days.
I think CA has to get a pass on this one.Remember, the last four or five weeks LA is speaking of,is when CA was trying to locate KC and Caylee, but getting all kind of crazy excuses from KC as to where they were and what was going on,which was driving CA crazy and she had no control over. So the environment in that house during the 30 days were all created by KC,CA had nothing to do with it,except to be a frustrated bystander.Don't you agree?

Well, TonE never called her back. She never heard from him again.
'Course, she had her counsel to flirt with. That's about when she started dressing as a paralegal, IIRC.
Thanks, I was wondering what the outcome of calling TonE was! So she had to leave a message and he didn't want anything more to do with her. My opinion of him is rapidly rising...

Exactly! I have to say that the impound guy infuriates me, too, b/c he came out & said that the smell reminded him of when somebody committed suicide & they found that person in the car, or trunk, or something. So, why didn;t the impound guy call the cops, if anything just to err on the side of caution kwim?
I said that a long time ago (God only knows where I posted it). What else would they have found in there too before CA got her mitts on it.

Hi Capp!!!
Please allow me to clarify myself, I'm not referring to the actual 30+ days, I'm speaking about after the fact -
Once LE, SA and the media got involved, Cindy stated numerous times that she had no concerns about not seeing Caylee or Casey during these 30+ days. She claimed she thought the two were "bonding". Basically "No worries here" nonsense...
Lee's statement clearly contradicts Cindy's position after the fact.

It's worth noting that Christina almost immediately dropped out of the picture as a friend and supporter of Casey. It's as if that night and perhaps the next few days were "light bulb" moments for Christina. She realized, with certainty, what had happened and what sort of monster Casey was.

This call + the video of her sashaying when she was arrested in the blue "82" shirt + the 31 days + the party pictures = a guilty verdict. They can try and confuse the jurors and poke teeny holes into the mountain of evidence, but those few things will seal her fate.
There's no way the defense can come up with a logical explanation for the 31 days, the partying pictures, the car that smelled of human decomposition, Casey's lack of emotion (very evident in this call from jail), the location where the remains were found, and the items from the Anthony home that were found with the remains.
No matter what doubts about the forensics the defense tries to bring up, the jurors will keep coming back to the 31 days, the partying, the car that reeked of death, the remains location, and what was found with the remains.

CA: Tony hasn't seen Caylee since the beginning of June.
This is July...15-16th? Why wouldn't Tony have seen Caylee since the beginning of June? Was she still sticking with the June 9th date for the last time she saw Caylee at this point? And, yes. ALL she cared about was talking to her "boyfriend."
I read in the transcript for Tony's roommate where he said that he had the convo with Casey about not dropping the "I love you" so soon. But then there is another convo (text messages) where someone is talking about the same type of thing and Casey is the one to say you can't drop the "I love yous" so quickly.

I've wondered if, after getting Tony's number, Casey tried calling him and if she talked to him. I really doubt it, because all the calls from jail were being recorded and we would have heard the audio of that call.
By the evening of July 16th, when Casey made that call home from jail, Tony had already spoken to AH and knew about Casey stealing cash and checks from AH. Tony already knew by then that he had been involved with a real lowlife, but probably hadn't put together yet how much of a monster Casey really is. I suspect that if Casey tried calling him, he didn't answer the phone. That conversation would have been interesting!

She's likely a sociopath with a narcisisstic personality disorder. There is no treatment for that. No Axis I disorder was found, AEB she is not in treatment.
She's just plain evil. It's fortunate that there were no findings of anything the defense could use to excuse her behavior. And, since the defense hasn't alluded to any sort of mental conditions, obviously there's nothing there they can run with.

Yep. I have to go look, but does anyone else remember when we discussed the texting and phone calls between KC and TL early on July 16, 08 after KC returned home from driving around with LE showing them incorrect houses and whatnots and her visit to Universal?
IIRC, TL was giving KC the third degree about why didn't KC tell him Caylee had been "kidnapped" as well as stealing money from AH. KC makes a statement to TL that she will be blamed if they can't find Caylee?
Also, TL changed his phone number after LE removed the trap.

ITA. That call is a MUST. No wonder they are asking that all this stuff be erased. It is very damning to her case. I will never forget her words to Christina when she started crying "Ohhhhh my God". I have never heard anything so cold-hearted. She should have thanked her lucky stars she had a friend to support and help her in this.
At the beginning I started out in the middle and hoped she was truthful. This call also spoke volumes to me of her mindset and involvement.

I think that we've only seen one LE interview with her (where she states that she and her child/children met up with KC and Caylee at Lake Underhill) and that was it. Believe me I am the bleedingest of all hearts and the tone KC takes and the way she talks to these people blows my poor little heart into "I am against the death penalty but I wont be rioting outside at her execution" mode.
and let me just add another mother with a toddler story. I am talking 10 seconds passing and I am already thinking to myself if it's too soon to call the cops. rather be thought a nervous fool having to call back when I found him thanlet 2 minutes pass with a missing toddler.

CA seems to live in the same, compartmentalized world as KC and frankly, the rest of the family. They can react to things in the moment without bothering to connect them to context or history and expect the world to do the same. They totally ignore patterns when convenient and expect everyone to take at face value whatever swill they are trying to sell at any given moment despite whatever they may have said on record in the past. It must make them all so very dizzy doing 180 degree verbal pirouettes...

It bothers me so bad, that not only was this precious child failed by her mother, but the people who should be shouting the loudest for her are not, never have and in my opinion, never will.
CMA CMA was not words shouted in the defense and outrage for the loss of this little girl, but words sent to comfort Casey, "this family is united"
Sweet Child may you experience the true love you deserved.God have mercy on all their souls for the injustice this child suffered and continues to suffer at their hands.
Yes, she is their daughter, but she is 22 and able to speak for herself.Who speaks for this innocent, who is screaming "find her killer". Why aren't CA and GA offering a reward for information as to who did this tragic thing?

The World According
10-09-2009, 09:44 AM
I normally recount words of wisdom from my very witty late gram, but this time I can share with all of you a personal experience. On Monday, one of the children, a seven year old little girl on our block went missing (we found her in someone's home an hour later, praise God). Let me tell you, everyone, I mean everyone was frantic, we were pounding on doors, the kids old enough were riding up and down the streets on their bikes looking, we were stopping every car, her parents had called every friend the little girl had. I cannot describe it less than frantic. My little niece was terrified yelling "Missing, what does that mean, someone stole her"? All of this was going on at seven am and the parents were a holy mess emotionally, I could barely make out what my friend was saying she was crying and screaming blood curdling screams. Many of us neighbors were in our pajamas going door to door and it was raining. Everyone just jumped up and started looking. It was overwhelming how totally, scared and crying hysterically both the mom and dad were, visibly shaking. The dad even fainted right before the police arrived. All I could think about once we found little Sarah (safely in a new neighbor's home) was what a contrast to how Casey reacted. "All they care about is getting Casey back!" she said in the meanest, coldest tone and I knew at that moment the good people of the jury would not need more than their common sense to get it. My neighbors all coming to the aid of this lost little girl made me really proud of them and I think that is why I enjoy this place. 99% of you are good , salt of the earth people who just know right from wrong . If Cindy wants to sue any of you, I say bring it on. Together the community always gets to the truth and I stand with YOU!
one of my favorite poems:
You Tell on Yourself
You tell on yourself by the friends you seek,
By the very manner in which you speak,
By the way you employ your leisure time,
By the use you make of dollar and dime.
You tell on yourself by the things you wear,
By the spirit in which your burdens you bear,
By the type of things at which you laugh,
By the smile you share on your photograph.
You tell what you are by the way you walk,
By the things of which you delight to talk,
By the manner in which you can bear defeat,
By so simple a thing as how you eat.
By the books you choose from the library shelf,
By these things and more you tell on yourself.

Hi zippitydoda.
Oh okay...well that's not clarifying your statement,it's changing it.lol.
What you said was:
"The hammer comes down on both Cindy and CA with this statement. It speaks volumes about the environment in that house DURING the 30+ days."and that's what I responded to.
No worries,I just thought that this is ONE time that CA deserved a pass, because heaven knows she's not getting many. lol.
Hi agian ...No...I'm not changing my statement, I know what I meant when I wrote my post.

I love it! Add verbal pirouettes to the word salad tag this case has created!

Your story and poem warmed my heart. I have shared with WS'rs the story of my stepson who went missing when he was 11. The tone of the search and our emotions mirrors your story so well. That is also how I knew KC was guilty. I am going to post your poem on my facebook because I love it so much, hope you don't mind.I normally recount words of wisdom from my very witty late gram, but this time I can share with all of you a personal experience.
You tell what you are by the way you walk,
By the things of which you delight to talk,
By the manner in which you can bear defeat,

this call seals the deal. there is no bleeding heart in the world with a bleeding enough heart to be able to explain away this phone call.
Just wanted to chime in with my total agreement on this one. I am not going to listen to this call again tonight - I haven't listened to it in months because I realized that when I do, I identify with Christina way too much... my heart starts pounding and I feel like her anxiety and bewilderment and frustration are...right...here... :(
I know all about "there's no handbook for grief" and "who can say what is the 'right way' to react". I even agree with those statements from time to time. But this conversation... in my mind, it is absolutely crystal clear that KC has no interest in this missing baby whatsoever. :snooty:
As a side note, I have mentioned before that I first saw Caylee on NG on day 32ish and I was flipping channels. I missed most of the story, just caught the 911 call, and I remember thinking something like, "That poor grandma. That poor momma. Please God let them find that baby alive." As time went on, my opinion changed as I learned more, but I tried hard to hold on to the thought that this was an accidental death, or maybe she sold Caylee, or really lost her and couldn't find her and was scared to tell...
Then I heard this call and I knew. I could never go back to my earlier theories after this, even though I tried. And whenever I tell people about this case for the first time, I dig up this call and play it for them. No one ever has a shadow of a doubt after hearing this.
Can a jury convict her based on this call? Not legally. There is no evidence in this call that removes all reasonable doubt. But there is no way anyone can hear this conversation and think she cared a speck about her daughter, or had any interest in getting anyone - parents, brother, friends - to look for that sweet baby. It's pretty obvious that she never thought she would be blamed and her caged animal routine screams "Don't you realize who I am!???!" not "OMG! Help me find my baby!" I look forward to the day that she is told she will be behind bars forever.

This phone call is what sealed the deal for me. Unfortunately, it doesn't seal the deal legally. What is shows is that Casey is cold and selfish. It shows that she "could have" done it...but, it also shows that a person with her mindset "could" also have had a child go missing and not reacted normally. It's just not enough for a conviction in a DP case IMO. It's enough for my gut...not enough for the law. They have miles to go between "could have" and "did" -- and I really can't wait to see all of the evidence. I want justice for Caylee, too.

Great thread to be brought forward....there is so much to remember when trying to piece things together. How will THIS call figure into her "state of mind" defense, or did that "state of mind" only last during the "ugly coping", partying, tattooing period. Dr. Weitz has his work cut out for him to come up with a "state of mind" that is going to work for this defendant. I wonder how much Dr. Weitz is really aware of about this case, does anyone know if he has had much involvement so far? He may not have a report, because he may just leave shaking his head, you know, bail out like Dr. Henry Lee bailed out. Just my thoughts.

Funny how JB keeps having to come up with new and different experts, isn't it? Me thinks he can't find one to spin it his way on indigent wages. JMO

IMO everyone should go back to the first post on this thread, which includes a transcript of KC's first call home from jail. Really, "a waste, a huge waste"? I almost like the transcript better because you can visually see KC's differing reactions to CA, LA and K. From confrontation to deprecating use of terms of affection "honey"--the fact that this will come in at trial is VERY BAD for the defense.

I have always thought that this phone call could be the deciding factor in whether Casey gets the death penalty or not. I don't know of anyone who wasn't horrified when Kristina cried... almost begging Casey to tell her if anything happened to Caylee... that she would DIE if anything happened to Caylee... and Casey's response? "Oh wow. Calling your guys? A waste... a huge waste." And that isn't even the worst part of the phone call... "All they care about is getting Caylee back." WOW!! I would really like Casey to have to answer exactly what was more important than her missing baby at that very moment? Oh, yes... Tony's phone number!

There are so many components to this case. Things "Casy Said.." "Casy did.." that will unend the defense train from the start.
Were I on the jury, I would never be able to get past the lack of reporting a missing child for 31 days. No word to mom and dad for help, no word to LE. If her wallet were missing she would have no doubt let everyone know and sent out a search party.
My mind would stick on the 31 days and no amount of explanation would clear this fact from my mind as a juror. jmo

ITA! It's hard to believe that they haven't begged the SA for a plea deal. The idea of JB and CM thinking they are going to make this turn out in KC's favor is unfathomable. It is going to be a trainwreck! Of biblical proportions! All moo.

Hi-
The thing to keep in mind is that if JB asks for, or had accepted a plea, he gets no credit for this DP case. This is about saving her life only and about JB's career afterwards- IMO. If they successfully keep her off death row, they win in their eyes. The DT knows this, including CM, but it's not their job to say this out loud. It all boils down to the evidence and they see what all of us see. I think that the others abandoning ship were for ethics reasons. They have some, JB doesn't.
There are some Defense Attorneys that are truly bleeding heart types who believe in due process, who fight the good fight, for all the right reasons and who choose that side of the coin because they want the scales of justice to be even- and then there are the JB's of the world. He is in this for all the wrong reasons. He's in this for personal gain. It's not too often these very high-profile cases grab hold and the guy who gets the big fish, gets remembered. He gets nothing if he pleas this out.
JB doesn't see a trainwreck- he sees a future with many clients. Again, IMO

As Lee so adeptly pointed out, JB is in this as a businessman.
Thing is, unless JB gets celeb clients or more cases of this magnitude wherein a book deal is an option, he doesn't stand to make as much money as he could in, say, the civil arena. Not sure why he doesn't go into that...
It was a fluke that he got this case, it could have been any attorney in Orlando. I don't think he'll get another at-bat like this. Meanwhile, the Morgan firm is the most successful in the state.

Cindy Anthony on TV first reeled me in then this call sealed the deal - This call when I first listened to it blew me away...
1. First thing Casey talks about is Cindy's cameo on TV
2. Cindy barely mentions Caylee before handing the phone to Lee
3. Lee tries to give it to Casey straight and gets no where
4. Kristina (bless her does her best) asks the most questions, gets the most emotional, really knows that something very wrong is going on, she also twigs to the fact that Casey is more concerned with talking to AL then talking about where Caylee supposedly is - smart girl Kristina, she knew from the beginning
5. Casey seals the deal with the nanny story, she also seals the deal that she has phone numbers that are now disconnected or no longer in use (what nanny phone numbers? Weren't they all in the other phone?)
6. Casey lies (in police interview) that she reported her "alleged" missing phone as stolen to Universal security - 9 days ago, but doesn't report her daughter missing? Yeah right! Wonder what police thought of that lie - you report your phone missing but not your daughter? Yep, even though that was a lie I still love how she lied about reporting the make believe phone as missing.
A jury can't get past this phone call and I for one, can't wait to watch ICA squirming in her seat as this is played to the Judge, the jury, the prosecutors, the defense team, the gallery and the whole world as a perfect example of how this is the REAL Casey Anthony. This call may not tell us anything about how Caylee died and when but it tells us every thing about ICA.

ringing, phone picked up, robotic voice over about call coming from the jail, and being recorded]
CI: Casey?
CA: Mom
Sitting in, oh... the jail with all the punks or where all the punks are?
CI: Whose fault is you sitting in the jail. Are you blaming me that you're sitting
in the jail. Blame yourself(?) for telling lies.
CA: It's not my fault
CI: What do you mean its not your
** {1 - the Y in 'my' is very drawn out - 'myyyyyyyy'. Dunno why I hang on that, but I do}
FR: Well, I'm on nobod...
FR: OK
CA: Bye

I love it how ICA says it's not her fault - there, right there, says it all.
Casey Anthony does not think it is her fault she is sitting in jail with all the "punks"
How dare anyone try to find Caylee - ICA is a gonner come trial - this call will sink her.
Thanks to the bump on this, it's good to discuss it again.

This phone call was made before any of the Anthony's became "hip" to what was being recorded, what could be released, etc... This was Casey Anthony in all her glory.
The exchange between Cindy and Casey early in the phone call has always bothered me. Casey bringing up Cindy's "cameos" and Cindy basically rubbing it in by saying "Which one?" Cindy was loving the attention... the spotlight. Casey was angry that Cindy was getting all this attention when she is not even Caylee's mother. It was another one of those moments where you could just feel the contempt Casey had for Cindy.
I never understood why Cindy even entertained answering Casey's question about her media appearances? Why would that even be important?
Lee's portion of the interview... he was fed up with Casey. He knew something was going on and even told her that they would find out... if only he would have remained this Lee Anthony that wasn't going to go "round and round" with her.
Yes, Kristina had Casey's number. She knew something was terribly wrong. You could tell Kristina was horrified when Casey stated "All they care about is getting Caylee back" and Kristina replied something like "Casey, this is your daughter, your flesh in blood, your baby girl" and Casey snaps at Kristina about not wanting to get into this with her.
This is my favorite piece of evidence that really goes to Casey's "state of mind." This is not a woman who was disassociated or detached because she is suffering from some sort of PTSD. This is a young woman who showed nothing but contempt because all anyone cared about at that moment was Caylee when they should have been more worried about getting her Tony's number. This call is going to sink Casey Anthony. There is no getting around it. I don't know anyone, I don't care what kind of degree they have, who can make a jury understand Casey's behavior in this phone call. You can not explain something like this away. It is what it is. Simple. Plain as day. This is Casey Anthony.

I haven't been able to keep up with this case, as I normally would, for one reason bc there's so much info to read and study. But I do feel as though I'm more informed than most, and certainly wouldn't make it into a jurors seat. With all that being said, I just cant figure out why this family, even though they held out hope that Caylee was still alive, and I believe knew in their hearts that she wasn't, didn't cooperate more with police! To HE## with ICA, she was a goner anyway! Save that BABY if there's even a speck of a chance. I sit here reading docs and listening to calls and I wonder if any of the family, other than the moral idiot, can sleep at night. They STILL have a chance to make things halfways right, but of course they're in denial and still looking for an alive Caylee (God Rest Her Soul). I truly believe that I would sell her out like a dimestore sucker if I could just to honor my Grandchild's life if I were them. Sorry for the rant, as far as the call, it says it all. SHE IS THE HUGE WASTE!:banghead:

Right off, I hope the State presents the opening facts of this case by first showing Caylee's beautiful pics and the video of Caylee singing, and then the panic of the 911 calls, and then info Casey supplies, oh but they were lies, and then this phone call from the jail. Wow!
How I wish I could see the jurors faces as they listen to this first call from jail recording. We haven't even started talking about the smell in the car yet.
No way does Casey sound helpless or troubled. She is the one in complete control. Seems you can't spin it any other way.
See, Casey, it wasn't a huge waste to call the house.

Yep, when you set aside all the sand the defense and the Anthonys have tried to throw in the face of reality, and you just listen to this audio again, the truth is very clear...they all knew Casey had something to do with Caylee being missing and Kristina feared the worst.
Lee was in fact very perturbed with Casey's attempt at avoiding the truth Even Cindy is irked, but only in the sense that she sticks it to Casey for getting herself thrown in jail by her lies and basically after Casey says, "It's not my fault" Cindy DOES confront Casey with her lies and the consequence. You can hear how all three of them are just gob smacked that Casey's most pressing issue is getting Tony's number... they are pretty much in disbelief and Lee borders on being pissed.
Interesting that Casey knows Lee is at the house because she was watching the live news reports and saw Mallory's car at the house - and she knows Lee has Tony's number and you just feel like, OMG, that was her most pressing issue???? In the early reports at least Cindy was being truthful in saying she didn't know what Casey's involvement was. This and the 911 call show that Cindy has now distorted all reality in favor of her daughter and family but it's having the opposite effect and making them ALL look twisted and sketchy.
Kristina - if you did not know Kristina was not an Anthony, you'd be able to figure it out because of the distinct difference in the emotion and content of her conversation. She knows Casey is not telling the truth, she's trying so very hard to get something and she sincerely chokes up at the thought something horrible has happened to Caylee - nothing either Anthony has done. Is it because they know what Casey is capable of? Is it because Casey has done these passive aggressive things before and they figured she was just being a biotch to Cindy? Must be something like that because Kristina is horrified that Casey wants Tony's number, that she's not upset and that she's lied to police and can't even comprehend what's going on because it's so bizarre - she asks Casey if she is telling the truth - the whole truth. She seems to need to confirm this because she's not buying Casey's story that LE has not listened to her and she's trying to help them but they just won't listen and look up ZFG in database for NY or NC.
This call is still unbelievable to me and I've heard it before. A jury will understand, as reasonable people, they will get it.
How could the Anthonys have simply bought in and turned on Caylee? That's terribly sad. I bet Kristina hasn't.

TY Ziggy for helping me realize the point I was trying to make (got lost in my own disbelief, although I too have heard this call many times b4). How could they possibly sell this little helpless baby out? Especially this early in the investigation. IIRC this is day 2 for the As, but I do think that knowing ICA is to really KNOW her, and they know she's a liar, and said so. Which brings me to the point of why now are they trying to defend her? She's already lost to them anyway. She doesn't give a rat's a## about any of them, and continues to show it. Also, yes I do believe she's a sociopath w/narcissitic tendencies, from my experience from studying about her & a former friend who was a mini ICA, just not homicidal.

Hey HopeForUs it is incredible that they try to defend their lying, manipulating, self-serving daughter but I know a few people who have sociopaths for kids and refuse to reckognize it. They somehow just keep falling for the manipulating lies with hope that if they just hang in there a miracle will happen and their children will become loving, caring people. WRONG. Like most parents, the A's did not realize that by not confronting KC with her lies EVERY TIME that they were pertpetuating her faulty reality that she could get away with anything and lie her way out of rough spots...much like Scott Peterson and others. Parents don't think THEIR kids are capable of such horrible acts, therefore the A's sell out Caylee who is already gone, just to keep from having to admit they are WRONG about Casey. They just can't admit they were wrong - they all have similar personality problems.

Agreed! Especially abt the family trait of personality probs. Part of me wants to feel sorry for this family, but they truly are bizarre. I think that when their habits and lies come out in court, they'll have no way to talk in circles like they do, and confuse everyone, with their wierd abstract code talk. JB is just as wierd as the A's so he should be a perfect fit as well, but I know JP ain't gonna allow doublespeak in his courtroom!!

Ah, thank you for this comment. I was coming into this thread to ask everyone when exactly they thought this call would be brought up at trial, and your first sentence here nicely gives me a place I'm comfortable with. Pictures of Caylee first, let's identify "that little girl", give her a name and a face and GOSH DARN IT... AN IDENTITY... which seems to have been taken away from her over these last 2.5 years... and then unfold the drama with this call. I hope, I hope, I hope this is how they start. I know there is a thread about opening statements, I haven't been over to that yet, or at least in a very long time, but am so glad you brought this thought in here. Thanks.

That first phone call invalidated everything positive that her family and her attorney said about Casey from that day until now. That phone call was damning to her defense. If you throw out everything but that one phone call, it gives a clear picture of the kind of person Casey is, and makes clear the fact that her very last concern was her daughter.
"That's all they're worried about right now is getting Caylee back".
Her mouth outran her brain (short race). That bell has been rung, that ship has sailed, etc, etc ,etc. No amount of spin can undo her very own words.

We all agree KC's response's in this phone call are unusual for a mother of a missing child, but how about CA? Her response in this phone call is just as alarming as KC's for me. If you listen to it, you can hear that in these moments between KC & CA....neither is panicked - frantic, neither is begging the other for help or understanding _(why is that?), at this moment....both put the "game" of their relationship first. KC brings up seeing CA on tv and what does CA say? She doesn't sound worn and worried, explaining to her daughter in a serious tone that she had to get word out about Caylee, no she "pushes some buttons" in KC by saying, "yeah, which one? I did several". It bothers me a lot that even at this early stage, CA doesn't sound like I think she should and it bothers me that she is enjoying "poking" KC with her answers. And the fact that she says it in the sweetest tone....it's weird, it's not normal, and I think there is much more that we don't know between these two. IMO we all should remember our first instincts....about everyone in that family.

I have been following this case from the very beginning, and this is my first time actually posting on here. I have felt Casey was guilty ever since I heard that she didn't report her daughter missing for 31 days, and I always thought a murder conviction would be a slam dunk for the prosecution. But after hearing JB's OS, I began to have my doubts. I do not believe Baezs theory for a minute, and still think she is as guilty as sin, but I can see where some jurors may have doubts and may actually believe him. I was so upset after the OS, and was not as hopeful that Caylee would finally get justice. But today after hearing the jailhouse tape, I felt so much better. That tape, imo, is one of the most damning pieces of evidence. It is the jury's first introduction to the real Casey Anthony. It is the first time that the jury hears ICA speak, and man that call speaks volumes. And there is no way to spin that to make ICA look good. I can imagine every single juror looking at ICA with disgust after hearing that tape. I have heard the tape before but never in its entirety. I was shocked and disgusted by her tone and her horrible foul language. What child talks to their mother that way? I am hopeful that the jury will be able to see ICA for what she is, and that there will finally be justice for Caylee.

I completely agree. I think that JB's OS has changed the trial from one debating over premeditation and guilt to opposite extremes, the stakes could not be higher. By going after the family, if the Jury does not buy into that complex theory then they will come down harder on ICA -- especially after seeing CA testify. This call is one of those that will turn the Jury against ICA ... Major, hugely major.

My post keep getting lost cuz these threads keep merging, so I will try one more time. I certainly do think the calls are damning. Kc is clearly not thinking about Caylees where abouts or well being at all. She is only thinking of herself and getting a hold of Tony's number. What did she think he would do for her? Calling you guys huge waste . I am sure that gave the jurors a better picture of the evilness of ICA.

I agree with you. In theory, Baez's explanation for her ugly coping makes sense. And after his OS many people were ready to buy his explanation.
But the state has done a great job showing the depth of her lies and the enormity of the deceit she was spewing. It just did not fit the situation.
Many of us have known SA victims, and some of us are survivors ourselves. But there are probably few if any that could rise to her level of pathology. Her entire life is a lie. All SA victims act out in some way as they first break free, imo. But that does not mean they would have no emotional reaction to the death of their child, accidental or not. And when we saw and heard the way she spoke to her brother and to her concerned friend, so coldly, so arrogantly. THAT did not fit with Baez'z initial explanation at all. He said she was fragile and disconnected because of her pain from the abuse. That is not what we heard in that call from jail. She was connected, but with anger and disdain. " All they care about is getting Caylee back." That is not a 'fragile' soul speaking, imo.

And to read via tweeter that juror #4 (1319) looked up from the transcript of the jailhouse call to "glare" at the defendant... well. Well then. Is all I can say.
And I imagine that this phone call is going to be replayed over and over in the jurors mind. Out of all the evidence, other than the duct tape, this might be what gets ICA the DP. The true nature of ICA is never more apparent in all her ice cold glory than she is in this phone call.

I'm curious why she doesn't already know her boyfriend's phone number. It's irrelevant, but still makes me curious.
Cause we have reached a point where we don't memorize phone numbers. We just push a button next to a name in our call list or phone book of people we call frequently. It's a speed dial world.

I was thrilled to hear that for two reasons. Number one, somebody posted an interesting observation during the JS. They mentioned that when someone says something definitive that they never like to do,' like to judge others ', it sometimes means that it is exactly what they often do.
Number two, I hoped she would have the same set of moral values and old school beliefs that I assumed she would have. A strong sense of family loyalty and ethics. And reading that tweet made me believe it was true. I believe Baez may be sorry that he fought for her so hard, imo.

What was so beautiful about this call played for the jury is that it is the unedited version. Now I know very early on in the case I once heard the version without the bleeping but I could never find it again or it had been taken down.
This version played for the jury is just the sort of slap the defense team needed and I'm so glad that I got to watch it live today - how long we've been waiting for this moment.
As each day goes on it looks more and more likely that ICA will have to take the stand - otherwise the only voice they will have heard from the defendant is the one on the tape - if the defense go with that they are sunk.

amz, she may have tried to call TL after this but if she did he never picked up the phone. The last time they spoke was when she was at his place, then there were the texts, then nothing.
Interesting that on the jail call to her home, she has her friend Christina sobbing about if anything happened to Caylee, and all Casey can focus on is memorizing Tony's phone number. Not Christina's number to call tomorrow--Tony's.
Pair this with her feverish need to be out of jail before Caylee comes home...and her decision not to see Lee one-on-one because it would be "an interrogation."

Another AMAZING thing about this call is it is REALITY. The jurors are seeing a real moment in time, with no spin or misdirection. And all Baez has as ammunition is his own version of who Casey is. His OS was powerful because he described a scenario which could explain this behavior, IF IT WAS TRUE. But today everyone saw that Baez's description was NOT consistent with his client's behavior. She was NOT a little lost lamb, cut off from her emotions. Not hardly.
