Okay - this is really strange. I had a niece who had MS, and it effected her brain pretty badly. Last November she took her life. I'm still struggling with the grieving process - but BEFORE she died she told me something disturbing. She married a man from England - his name is Paul. She said he HAD to flee England because he had bludgeoned someone to death and it was an unsolved crime. So I will try to find out more - he's not very old - under 30. I believe the crime would have happened within the last 10 years. I'm not even sure that it's true to be honest... she had a tendency there to stretch things. HOWEVER she had a LOT of bruising that showed up post mortem. Her hubby INSISTED on cremation even though a plot was available. Just thought I'd throw this out there. I will update as I find out more about this bit by bit.

I wonder if it would be a good idea to contact Interpol or Scotland Yard. They have access to so many more resources than we do to get info. I bet they could quickly track the places he lived and find out whether there are any unsolved murders in those areas that fit the description. Maybe it wasn't true, but it would be better to know for sure. I can understand if you'd rather wait and gather more info yourself first to see if it seems credible.

I'd love to try to help you dig as much as possible. I'm so sorry about your niece.

Paul is from Lancaster, England - he is 30 years old. He moved over here within the last 7 years. He will be returning to England in January for a time. I wouldn't even know how to go about contacting interpol!!! All I know is that he claims to have fled England because of this. Before my niece died she said, "If you don't believe me look it up - he killed this man and it is an unsolved murder." At the time I was more concerned with my nieces health and wellness than what she was saying about her husband... but now that she's gone this is haunting me.

Here is a link to a list of Lancaster media sources.

I have to go now and don't have time to look at the papers right now, but I'll start looking later today.

Where was Paul from in ENgland? Did your niece know whether the victim was male or female?

So was the body found and left unidentified? Was the body found and identified? Or is this person a missing person whose body was never found?
Was her husband a suspect?
England is a big place - do you know where in England?

If you could give his name is would make the search much easier.

I don't want to speak for Jennerbear, but I doubt she knows many more details than what she posted about the murder, since she's not even sure whether there was one. I would think Lancaster would be the first place to start looking, and for an unsolved case of a man who was bludgeoned to death.

Well, for starters... http://legacy.thisislancashire.co.uk/lancashire/bolton/news/murderprobe054.html

In June of 1998, 65 year-old Danny McFadden of Manchester was beaten and then burned to death in his home. Manchester is some 50 miles from Lancaster.

I'm searching a Lancashire newspaper website for articles on murders, and so far I haven't seen any that fit.

The following came up on the list from the search engine, but the article is no longer available to read. I googled it to try to find out more, but nothing so far. This article was in the Lancashire Evening Post.

Thanks shadowangel. I think the case you found seems more likely. It sounds like they had a good idea of who killed Ron Sharples.

Hi JennerBear,
I am very sorry about the loss of your niece. And to lose her to suicide must make it even more complicated and even harder to grive and even begin to sort your feelings.

I wondered if you ever had any reason to suspect abuse in the past? I mean before she told you about this possible murder and then the (possibly)suspicious bruising and her husband's insisting on a cremation. I don't mean to ask painful questions, but was her suicide in any way suspicious as far as the police or coroner, etc.
