I live in Redlands and have never heard this story. There have been many strange things that have happened in the Orange Groves from murder and rape to satanic dealings. I'll see what I can find out.

Yes LA County and San Bernardino are pretty close. Its about a 1 1/2 - 2 hours drive so it could be possible that the 2 are linked.
