Searchers broaden efforts in hunt for Brandon Crisp

Canwest News Service

An intense search for a 15-year-old boy who has been missing for more than a week continues today in a densely wooded area north of Toronto.
Brandon Crisp left his Barrie home on a yellow mountain bike on Oct. 14 after getting into a fight with his parents.
Since then, his bicycle has been seen by witnesses but there has been no sign of Brandon, who was not properly dressed when he left and does not have any money.
Search efforts were broadened today with more police officers and search dogs from the Barrie police and the Ontario Provincial Police.
Investigators are urging residents and cottagers in the communities northeast of Barrie to check their properties for signs the teen could be staying there.
Brandon’s parents are concerned he may have been lured away. They say he is obsessed with a video game called Call of Duty 4, which he plays online.
However, Brandon has not logged in to the game since his disappearance and friends say they have had no contact with him.
The teen is described as being five feet three inches tall and weighing about 100 pounds.
He was last seen wearing a yellow and grey jacket with a grey American Eagle hoody-style sweater and blue jeans.
At the time of his disappearance, he was wearing white “skater”-style running shoes with a camouflage stripe on the side and carrying a yellow and grey backpack.

Please pray for Brandon that he can be returned to his family. It's feared someone may be keeping him prisoner.

People have seen his bicycle, but not him? What does that mean? Was is found somewhere or was someone else riding it that wasn't Brandon? Praying for a quick and safe return.

That's really alarming. It sounds like he may be in danger from the elements, himself, or hostile gamers. However, there've been a lot of missing kids returned okay this week, so here's to hope!

He had a fight with his parents and left on his bike. The bike is the only clue it was found on the side the road days later near Shanty bay. I will post a link.

I am very familiar with the areas to the north of Barrie.. it is riddled with Lakes, vacation cottages, golf clubs, and very densely wooded. Many areas are swampy as well. There is a main artery that runs due north of Barrie.. but there are no bus lines or such that do local drops .. however it would run to another city a couple hours north. Barrie is about an hour or so from Toronto but definately suburban/city sprawl.. The artery that runs north and south is a several lane highway and can be quite desolate in places not to mention the dense fog at times. The woods are very active with much wildlife.. including bears, and other large game like moose. I wonder if his bike had any damage to it.. it could be he rode and was hit or damaged the bike riding in the rocky wooded terrain.. I hope he is just hiding out in mone of the many very expensive cottages ( this area is the North east hollywood- Spielberg, hanks, hawn, russell, kenny G etc big time money) that are very much seasonally inhabited. Many of these cottages are on lakes that are accessed thru a long drive thru the woods.. and to be honest no one would know you were there til they came to open them in the summer.. easy hiding spot.

heres some additional info on the LE and their current escalation in searching for Brandon.. its not sounding good.. " its like he has dissapeared in to thin air" LE is expressing concern as there have been some tips immediately after his disappearance but nothing since even though the info has been broadcast nation wide...

LE has called in Cybre crimes units to examine his gaming system but so far have found very little and Brandon doesnt qualify for an Anber Alert due to the circumstances of his disappearance

There is another thread on Brandon ... perhaps a Mod could merger these two together..?

The weather is a big factor now.. they have had snow this week in Barrie.. too cold to be out and exposed in the open.. hopefully he is hold up on his own now.. but its not sounding good. A kid this age doesnt go off the grid for this long without money, talking to friends, or in his case if he is addicated to the gaming he would have found a way to log on by now I would think... I am hoping this is something innocent but I have a feeling there is more going on here.. I hope i am wrong. My prayers to Brandon and his family.. I hope he is located soon.

I am also familiar with this area. I have a close friend that works and lives there. Thick brush for sure in rural parts of Barrie. Just wanted to let you know I heard tonight that the bike was damaged. He was also spotted my a woman walking down the road they found his bike on. will try to find the link.
I find it so odd that nobody has come forward with info on him. Any responsible adult would wonder why he is not at school or ask if the parents knew where he was. This has captured alot of media attention and his photo is plastered all over Barrie and surrounding are as per my friend...

I am about 45min south of Barrie so if they ask for a volunteer search I will be going to help...

Praying for a happy outcome.

I live across the lake from Barrie, Lake Simcoe, and it is cold this morning, 4 degrees and frost is on the ground. My children wore their woolies this morning, hat and mittens. I saw this on Breakfast television and I also would like to join in a search this weekend. I hope he is found ok, it is getting colder by the day here.

I would like to say "Thank You" very much to Cami for starting two threads in regards to Brandon Crisp I hope and pray that he will be found safe and sound and re-united with his parents.

But I am concerned for him, very much so. He is smaller for his age and "young looking" and I wonder......... I do hope that he is O.K. and just taking a time out and will be found safe.

Lets keep Brandon in our thoughts. I cannot imagine what this parents are going through.

I know, a child, a 15 year old boy, without money, proper clothing, food, and without his computer. That concerns me, especially if he was "confiding" with a gamer of " like mind" and that gamer offered him a time out, but it was only a ploy to gain Brandon's confidence.

I keep thinking of Shawn Hornbeck. I try to not dwell on the thoughts that Brandon is being held against his will, but he has not even contacted his friends in an entire week. I hope he is found safe and sound and alive and well.

Volunteers will comb the area until dark each day.“We will be deploying people in a number of capacities,” said Charmaine Nolan, a search organizer. “Some will actually be searching a defined area, some will be canvassing neighbourhoods and some putting up posters.”She asks volunteers to dress warmly and wear bright clothing to be easily seen.“For those interested in donating water or food for the weekend, please bring them to Burl’s Creek.”Nolan said there’s been a demand from the community to help the Crisp family find Brandon, who has been missing since Oct. 13. “We’re going to areas that may be outside of the police search. Our hope is by getting more people involved, it will result in the safe return of Brandon.”Anyone with specialized equipment, such as all-terrain vehicles, should call ahead to make sure they are utilized properly. Contact Nolan at cnolan@simcoe.com or call 721-3576.

There are now more than 4,200 people on Facebook who have joined a group called Where is Brandon Crisp. And the numbers are growing daily. Many are friends or classmates, but there are also complete strangers sending their best wishes to the family, and offering to help in the search.“My family and I send all of our prayers for Brandon’s safe return,” wrote Amanda Traynor in a post. “I truly hope as a mother of three children, all under the age of six years old, that you find peace in the thoughts that so many are standing by your family at this time. I only wish that there were something more that I could do that would help bring Brandon home and to take away all your worries. We will continue to pray for your family in hopes that your son comes home to you very swiftly. Sincerely the Traynor- Riemer Family of Stratford, Ont.”Others have offered to hand out posters in their Barrie and area businesses, or post them in their neighbourhoods. The site allows group members to stay up-to-date on the latest information or see photos to help identify Crisp, including his backpack. Within seconds, members can be contacted about plans to search for Crisp or hand out posters in the area. For example, the group’s administrator, Dylan Frankland, was concerned Monday’s rain may have damaged some of the posters, and asked for people to re-post when possible. One woman suggested putting the posters into page protectors before taping them up.Facebook is an online forum where people can share pictures, feelings and ideas with friends or others who have similar interests. Police also confirmed late Wednesday that a woman who lives along a hiking trial where Brandon Crisp's bicycle was found last week spoke to the missing boy on the path on Thanksgiving Day - the day the teen ran away from his home.

His yellow mountain bike was found on a hiking trail, about 20 kilometres from his house.

"She came across him walking in the same direction as her. He told her he was having an issue with his bike," said Goodbrand of the alleged witness sighting.

"This is a good thing for the investigation because we always had that little doubt that someone else had put the bike there. Now, we're confident that we're in the right area looking for Brandon," said Barrie police Sgt. Dave Goodbrand.

Police and Brandon's parents believe an addiction to video games may be a factor in the teen's disappearance.

His parents believe he may have run away from home after they took away his video games.

Steve and Angelika Crisp say that for the past three years, their son has been obsessed with playing an online game called Call of Duty 4, often until 4 a.m.

Friends have told officers they have had no contact with him

Ummmm, sorry to 'blame the parents' here folks. Don't trash me please. But I cannot believe these parents would allow a 12 / 13 year old to even stay up until 4am. I would have long cleared out the video games, tv, music, computer, everything stripped down to the bare bones bedroom for my child to get the point of listening and respecting my rules!

The parents talk as if they had no control over the child. They choose not to have a disciplined child by their inaction. When will parents step up to the plate and start being parents again. I mean now their child is missing possibly because of his obsession? Isn't that a big warning flag to all of us?

I'm NOT saying the parents are responsible for him being abducted or whatever has ocurred. I AM saying they are accountable to the events that lead toward this though. We cannot predict the future but what kind of people let their young children remain obessesed with something for so long. :furious:

Lets all hope and pray that Brandon is found safe.

Brandon likes to watch shows like Mantracker. The star of the show Mantracker is going to join in the search for Brandon. He should be in Barrie over the weekend. Microsoft is working with Police to see whom Brandon may have been communicating with on the "game". A 1000 people are expected to join in the search for Brandon this weekend and this has gained national attention along with people from across Canada who are flying, driving from other provinces to help with the search.

Brandon has been missing for almost two weeks. The students held a service at his school and the students can avail themselves of "help" coping with the fact that Brandon is missing and no one has heard from him in almost two weeks.

A 25,000 reward has been set up for Brandon's safe return.

I look forward to hearing the news that Brandon has been found safe. I really want to hear this has a happy ending......

Hello, now it is time to blame the parents. Pardon me.

Tell me how many children in the USA have an addiction and the "parents" do nothing. At all.

The parents tried and tried to have his addiction treated. Not many services available. Now, on almost every newscast, the program is pointing out, "that these are the symptoms of an addiction" to games online.

I had no idea what it entails. The CAMH(Centre for Mental Health)has run a pilot program in dealing with teens for online addiction. There are 25 spots. 150 on the waiting list.

A child of 15 has to participate in his recovery. Just like if you had a 15 year old who is addicted to drugs, who does not see his addiction as an addiction and refuses to participate in treatment.

So until you know ALL of the details and lived in the house for the last few years, why don't we ALL concentrate on "not blaming the parents, Microsoft, other games, and put all our hopes and prayers in finding Brandon safe and sound.

That is the only concern. Microsoft has matched the existing reward of 25K with an additional 25K pledged from Microsoft.

So the total reward is 50K.

They took away or threatened to take away his X-Box and that is what lead to him "running" away.

Ummm Cyberlaw - if the parents DEALT WITH THIS ISSUE when he was 12 -like the dad said he was addicted then, they MAY not have had this problem on their hands at all.

Blame the parents, yes to an extent, they are accountable for this circumstance. Too many parents today do nothing or very little for actual discipline and just let it 'slide' because they hardly see their kid, why fight, etc... TOO many parents.

I wrote what I wrote as a wake up sign to ALL PARENTS. I could be endless in my examples but there are countless times where we can and have learned from others mistakes where children have been abducted because of the stupidity of parents, lack of supervision and so forth. They may 'punish' themselves for life but that does NOT excuse anyone for their stupidity (ie: Madeline McCann being left alone).

These parents IMO are accountable for their inaction long ago should this prove to be linked to this video game. I'm not saying they are not second guessing themselves but should we just forget how this occured and not learn from it?

I for one would have stripped his room to the bare bones at 12 years old and he would have had nothing to play with other than a bike & a hockey stick & puck. It is all hindsight absolutely but I will watch my son closer now.

I have a 9 yr old and if I see him even starting to be addicted to any video game that this story won't come to my mind? Heck yes it will.

I'm upset about this because I want us to remember and do different. Something good has to come from this.

Heck even teenagers, who are addicted to drugs that may want immediate help, if the parents cannot afford 40K for a bed, they will have to wait until one comes available for the child as the health care system. This can take months, several months.

So again, if the child is 12 and unwilling to participate in treatment, then it will be to no avail. The child has to want to get better, recognize his addiction and participate in treatment.

Therapy is a two way street. Often addicts don't want help.

Oh, by the way, how and when would you know if your child was addicted.

Taking away all the items in his room does not deal with his social isolation and lack of self esteem. Actually to do what you suggest, would do more harm then good.

Heck our oldest, uses the computer after we go to bed...........

So again, if a child is addicted to drugs(computer games) and they realize the harm of their addiction, and they want to get better then they will benefit from treatment. If not, the parents cannot "force" him to get treatment.

Just the simple fact, that they took his source of addiction away and that lead to him running away is telling. I would be much more concerned about a 12 year old on the streets after the parents take away his game, and more so concerned for Brandon after almost two weeks and no one has seen or heard from him.

So again, stay on point. This tread is not "blame" everyone, it is to find Brandon. Please stay on point and post things you may feel is helpful.

The parents are suffering. How would you like me to blame you for your child who is missing for two weeks. Talk about adding insult to injury.

Please stop the blame game and be helpful not "blame" the victim and the victim's parents.

No one is blaming the parents in my city and province, not at all, because that is just a "low blow". Everyone is trying to find Brandon safe and sound and reunite him with his parents. The parents just want Brandon home safe and sound. Everyone does.

I'm not writing this for a low blow. I have love and compassion for these parents and all parents of missing children. We equally have a responsibility to talk about this problem society has as a whole. What better time to do it than when there is a 'current' example of what could horribly go wrong.

I am writing this to 'inflict' a bit of shock into all of us to heed some warning signs so this does not happen to another child 'addicted' or potentially addicted to lifestyle technology things. (not drugs). You cannot compare a child on drugs to a child with video game addictions... those kids can still think clearly without a chemical fog.

I respectfully disagree that it would do more harm than good to clean out my sons room. I am talking about taking on a problem before it turns into an addictive issue to a level like Brandon had taken it. 4am is not a bedtime for ANY 15 yr old anywhere.

And in our home, it has worked. We had quite a time when my oldest was in junior high that wanted to do anything and everything BUT school work. And we kept taking many things away slowly until she got it. And she didn't 'get it' until finally her horse was gone for good. The thing she loved the most.

Did it kill us to do it? Yup! Did it straighten her out and show her that her parents mean business and have expectations to the best of her ability? Yup! Now, she graduated high school with honors and since bought her own horse.

Now we could have allowed her to continue her behaviour without consequence or drastic measure. I cannot imagine what she may have ended up like if we did.

And while it may be okay in your home for your oldest to have a computer in his/her room, that isn't the case in our home. Our computer faces the opposite way of the TV so we can turn back and look at the screen at what they are doing. Our 18 yr old has fought us on this and we refuse to provide privacy. Respect we provide and we do not 'read' what she's doing but I suspect it has prevented her and my other 2 children from ending up in places on the net they are not supposed to be on.

Now again, my post is to have other parents take this horrible event of a missing teen as a warning sign to look at what's going on in their own home. I hear your point of having compassion and understanding. I do have compassion, believe it or not. I cannot imagine their nightmare or even what their son may be going through and it's horrific and tragic. And if I could ask them would they do things different long ago? I suspect their answer would be yes. :(

And I do believe I am staying on point. I am discussing potential reasons for why Brandon is missing and what COULD HAVE potentially prevented it.

The problem is, that what works for one kid doesn't work for every kid. I promise you we took every thing away from our son too. He stayed grounded for a whole year once. He didn't care. He's 18 now and he's a good boy today but who knows about next week. He has choices. We did our job to the best of our ability now it's up to him. Staying up playing video games, he did and still does. (He used to drive me crazy staying up late on school nights). He wasn't playing games, he just couldn't sleep. And I learned that no matter what I did or didn't do, I couldn't make him go to sleep. I learned to pick my battles. My kids have at times stayed up all night on weekends. As long as they have nothing to do the next day, I don't see a problem with it. What works at one house doesn't work everywhere. I feel for his parents because I know but for the grace of God go I.

Jim Wilkes Staff ReporterHAWKESTONE–The wind-reddened faces of volunteers searching for Brandon Crisp betrayed the optimism of their words."We're all out here desperately trying to find something that will help the police, but I think we're also afraid of what we might find," said Lynne Kongkham, 58, who left her Newmarket real estate business yesterday to join hundreds of volunteers in the search for the 15-year-old Barrie boy. It's been two weeks since Brandon left home after a spat with his parents over an online video game. His bicycle was found about 10 kilometres from home a few days later along the Rail Trail, a path that follows an abandoned railway line through Oro-Medonte near the Lake Simcoe shore.Kongkham was on the last busload of volunteers heading out from Burl's Creek Park, headquarters for the search organized by staff of the Barrie Advance, where Brandon's mother works. It's a few kilometres from where Barrie police have a command post in another search grid near Shanty Bay. Sgt. Dave Goodbrand said police would be back out again today to hunt for the missing teen.

All I can say is that if Brandon is "out there" somewhere, I hope he found some kind of shelter. The weather sounds dreadful, and I can't imagine a 15 year old fending for himself in the wet and cold. I have a very bad feeling because I think by now he would've contacted his friends if he could.

Just to be clear (and I'm not sure that it has any bearing on anything) - the NorthEast Hollywood where Hawn/Russell et al have summer homes is in Muskoka. That's quite a ways away from Barrie. BUT there are summer homes North of Barrie nonetheless...just not the big ritzy ones

On another note I've only started reading up on this case as I've been hearing more and more in the local news and just read this article online that his father called his bluff and helped him back his bags. I can't even imagine how badly he must be beating himself up for that now.

I'm trying to post the link (which I've never done before!) so hopefully this works -

I usually refrain from commenting when threads go off topic as this one has.. and it has.. the focus has shifted from this missing child to parenting. Please dont take offense but can we please stop surmising what or why the parents raised their child and focus on finding this boy.. isnt that we all came to this site for..

Is there any new information on Brandon or his possible whereabouts? The more time passes and the longer it goes with no contact to friends and family no possible sitings or new leads convinces me that something terrible has happened that is not of his own free will or that he is injured or harmed.. I am praying for his family that he is found and soon or at least there are new leads on his whereabouts.

"Along with a public search, the Barrie Police continued its search Friday near the 2nd Line of Oro and Ridge Road. This is the sixth day of exhaustive ground searches in attempt to locate Crisp.

“Barrie Police will be utilizing in excess of 30 police searchers and have sought the assistance of the Georgian Bay Search and Rescue (who are police-trained search volunteers) for the second day,” said Sgt. Dave Goodbrand, communications officer. The K9 teams will also be looking along the ground for any evidence of Crisp’s whereabouts.

He said approximately 1,000 tips have been reported and officers are following up on them. A new tip line has been created at 725-7025 ext. 2160 for anyone with information on Crisp’s disappearance.

He is 15 years old and was carrying a yellow Obus Forme backpack. His Huffy mountain bike was found Oct. 20 on a walking trail off the 2nd Line of Oro."

Is it feasible he hopped on the 2nd line? If so where does that linle lead?
Also with the canine searchers .. would they be able to locate a scent 15 days after he was in the area?

The rewards for information are coming in as well.. Microsoft has doubled its contribution to $50,000.. other companies etc are also contributing monies ..Microsoft has also dontated resources to locating the 200 names of gamers on Brandons X box.. his father is convinced it was one of these individuals that has led his son away.

Its kind of hard to follow with so many threads..

Its not good that there are no solid leads and the ground searches have been suspended.. I know they cant go on indefinately and certainly with so few leads.. but this is sounding less and less promising if he is being held against his will... I really hope he is ok. Praying for Brandons dafe return and the strength his family needs now..

I am praying for his family that he is found and soon or at least there are new leads on his whereabouts.

no offense taken on my part as I'm the 'pot stirer' here. I just want all of us to be more educated as to what can happen. We are not learning from our mistakes when children & teens go missing and no one takes the opportunity to talk about that when it happens. I am as I have a 9 yr old son who loves all the technological devices life can provide and this scares me to my core.

I believe we could have an intelligent discussion while talking about Brandon missing. Doesn't anyone want to learn and educate themselves? We think 'never us' ... can't happen. Then it does. But what about the 'what ifs'?? Maybe it IS just me but I believe by learning more about Brandon's case, I can MAYBE help another child in my life (not necessarily my own) if I see something going on. Too many children are missing in this world. We NEED to be MORE vigilant! That's what I'm doing, being vigilant.

I'm heart broken about Brandon and could not imagine a child out there not knowing where he is irregardless how he got there. He's a 'small' 15 yr old and that alone bothers me that he's been taken by someone who may have thought he was even younger. And then physically unable to defend himself either. God bless his family.

Brandon left home after fighting with his parents over his gaming, has been missing for over 2 weeks. His bike was found, he has no money and his friends haven't been in contact with him. Searches turned up nothing and have been called off, and the weather is turning cold and snowy.

So we are left with:

Hiding out in a well-stocked vacation cabin- alive.

Left area, traveling on his own or staying with unknown friends- alive.

Had an accident- dead.

Accidentally met up with a murderer- dead.

Accidentally met up with a kidnapper/pedophile- dead or being victimized.

Arranged meeting with someone from online- alive or dead.

Any other scenario?

Unfortunately, when cottages are locked up for the winter, the water is shut off, so is power, the fridge is cleaned out and unplugged, any food except maybe for a few cans are packed.

I am hoping, hoping, that Brandon is at an empty cottage and is unaware that the search for him is going on.

A Facebook group has been started, with a total to date of 16,000 people "trying" to offer hope and support to deal with the situation of Brandon missing.

The area in Shanty Bay is very rugged. If you are searching, you must be with a group, because you will not be able to see anyone even just 2 feet away from you.

I pray and hope that Brandon is alive and well.

America's most wanted has featured Brandon on their website. They are prepared to do a feature on Brandon on their show if it is shown that he crossed into the USA. Apparently a lot of his cyber friends are in the states.

America's Most Wanted has featured Brandon on their website. They are all prepared to feature Brandon on their show if it is shown that Brandon is in the USA.

BTW, a few times "the oldest" has said, no fair, I am going to "run away".

I handed him his knapsack, told him good luck......if this ever happened, the guilt that I would feel would be gut wrenching.

I wonder how people would feel if I posted on the threads of missing people that it is the fault of the people "left" behind, heartbroken that a child is missing that it is all of the fault, of Husband, wife, sister, brother, and it is their fault that the person is missing.

So why don't we take a student nurse. It is the fault of the school, the mom, the Dad, the fiance, the aunt, uncle, sister and brother that this student nurse is missing. It is all their fault.........

So if anyone wants to blame Brandon's parents, look at the TOS and be prepared to be reported.

Lets be hopeful and supportive in these times, the parents just want their boy back, safe and sound. We all do.

America's Most wanted has featured Brandon on their website. They also are prepared to do a segment on Brandon if the Cyber Crime Unit of the OPP and Microsoft can determine if Brandon is in the USA.

PattyCake, while i agree that we are all adults and could have that discussion i think this is the wrong thread to do so.. it diverts from the focus.. and to be honest I think your preching to the choir in many respects. Most of the folks here are armed with information and knowledge and actively do the right things to protect their children. i think its ohters who are not hear and reading these case who need this information.

If Brandon took the train or had hitchhiked or taken a bus someone would have recognized him as a fellow traveler, as having purchased a ticket or given a ride. unless of course its someone who has him under their control or harmed him in some way. It wouldnt have taken much to hitchhike to toronto or for that matter the border.. while its not close without a car.. it is only a few hours to the border.. and there are any number of roadside services where he could pick up a ride with a trucker or individual.. however crossing the border at Niagara or buffalo or at lewiston would be difficult unless he has a passport with him..

Hoping they find this boy soon!

Well if people want to be educated, they would be well advised to "learn" the warning and danger signs of children whom "they suspect" could be addicted to the internet and or online gaming.

This thread in in "support" of Brandon, coming home safe and sound, no bashing the parents.

I am still holding out hope someone is hiding him.If he had taken off to stay alone we all know teenage boys he would have called by now they get hungry real quick. Also they have only found his bike not the blanket or backpack he took with him.My fear is someone from this gaming world has enticed him to go with them.I wonder if he was snuck across the border somehow.I am hoping he is just either being stubborn or is just to darn scared to call home.

from CTV news (http://toronto.ctv.ca/servlet/an/local/CTVNews/20081103/Crisp_missing_081103/):

"Barrie Police on the lookout for runaway teen Brandon Crisp say they have received new information.

From information gleaned from a new witness, police determined the boy was walking further east along the Oro Medonte Trail than was originally thought. Police say the new information helps them place Brandon's direction as heading away from Barrie."

Body found believed to be Brandon Crisp

A body believed by Barrie police to be of Brandon Crisp, the 15-year-old boy who had been missing since Thanksgiving day, has been found.

Crisp went missing after fighting with his parents about his video game system.

Hunters in an area northeast of Barrie found a body Wednesday morning, Sgt. Dave Goodbrand said.

Just a comment.

An expert commented that if you find your teen spending too much time with technology, that you "gradually" wean them off the technology.

For example, no computer or TV in the bedroom. Negotiate with the child, for example, you can spend one hour on the computer, as long as you spend the equal amount of time doing an activity that is not technology associated. For example, working in the yard, visiting friends, a hobby, sports.

As a person pointed out in the newspaper, when Brandon's parents "cut him off" from his Xbox is was akin to Brandon of having his legs cut off.

But all that is moot. Brandon is dead. The entire country is in shock.

I never thought that it would end this way, no one did. Everyone thought that Brandon would be found safe and sound.

I am still very upset......as a lot of people are.

from cp24.com (http://www.cp24.com/servlet/an/local/CTVNews/20081108/081108_crisp_2/20081108/?hub=CP24Home).

Autopsy results on the body of a youth found outside Barrie Wednesday confirm that the body was that of 15-year-old Brandon Crisp, and that he died from injuries to the chest area.

Police also say the injuries are "consistent with a fall from a tree."

Investigators are still trying to figure out the boy's last moments before his death.

Thank you NM for posting the autopsy results.. while this is not conforting to think he may have layed there unable to summon help for himself at least it wasnt foul play.. nor hypothermia. I just cant imagine the pain and anguish is family is dealing with.. nor imagine feeling comfort in this news.. My heart goes out to them .. I second guess simple issues with my child on a regular basis and feel guilty at times about how I have reacted for for not having the time i would like to fully engage with my child.. I cant imagine the second guess nor the guilt they must have and that its something they will always deal with in addition to the loss of Brandon.

Brandon was probably on his way home, he lost his way, climbed a tree and fell.

He was on his way home, to his family, friends, life. He lost them and they lost him.

Most likely it was dark and Brandon climbed a tree, to see if he can see a light to "orient" himself.

When he left it was 26C and as darkness fell it would have been cold, so Brandon was going home to the safe and warm house with his family.

I am beyond upset. Brandon was "everyone's son". Parents can identify with an upset teenager, taking off, telling them he was "running" away, and then after "cooling" off, makes his way back home to his family.

The Dad was right. We all thought Brandon would be gone for a few hours, cool off, come to his senses, go back home to familiar surroundings, his friends, his school, his life.

Maybe at the worst, he would have spent the night at a friends place.

But again, been there done that. The parents phone and tell you not to worry. Brandon will be home tomorrow morning. He is safe.

But Brandon never made it home.

The family has asked for privacy. They are in seclusion, the funeral is going to be this Friday.
