Police were excavating the backyard of the home where Margarette Ann Cuauhtli lived.Almost five years after an Arlington teenager's disappearance, police are digging for possible new evidence in the case. Margarette Ann Cuauhtli went missing on October 11, 2001. At the time, her family lived in a house in the 7600 block of Port Phillip Drive, not far from the southeast campus of Tarrant County Community College. On Wednesday, Arlington police investigators and representatives from the Tarrant County District Attorney's office used heavy equipment to excavate a portion of the backyard at that address. Margarette, who attended Sam Houston High School, was 16 when she disappeared. Police later arrested and indicted her stepfather, Gabriel Cuahtli, for kidnapping. He told police that Margarette's boyfriend had abducted her and turned her over to the Mexican mafia.
