Davis Van Norman's primer for families of missing loved ones is a wonderful resource as well.

Hi, am probably in the totally wrong place, but I've read about the Sodder children's case and the clues about the children being seen with Italian speaking males, and as ALL of the kids and their Mother look quite Italian, I wondered if there is any background information on the Mother, NOT that she wasn't a wonderful Mother, etc, but taking the view that perhaps "that" side of the family ( or a family at conflict with her family and a rival family in the "old" country) led to the children being taken. I don't see someone taking teens and pre-teens as possible adoptions. The youngest was five, so it's possible that someone would have been able to pass her off as their own ( and intimidated her into silence or convinced her that her parents had died in the fire). Also, why would the kids have opened the door at that hour of the night? Surely it must have been someone they were familiar with? Or was it a case of someone wanting to commit a crime at the house, but the kids recognised them and had to be taken away from the scene? It would take a terribly blood thirsty bast**d to kill all of those children in cold blood. Yet they took them in the first place, so they truly were monsters.Did the woman in the 'phone call help the perpetrator(s) to commit this malicious crime? ( Perhaps by luring the kids into opening the door, by the mere fact she was female, maybe posing for help). I'm sorry...I know it's naieve of me, but ( ok, there was Myra Hindley and those mentally unhinged mothers who kill their own kids) but I still think of the "fairer" sex as being biologically conditioned almost, to nurture kids...including kids other than their own. ( Like if you see a lost child in a department store, you locate security and get help to reunite the child with its' Parent, or ...and I am SO guilty of this myself, paying extra attention to a young kid crying in the arms of a man...more than likely being carried by the Daddy, but that's how my brain is programmed). Anyway, just wondered if there were additional details or if the clue about them being in the company of Italian speaking males was ever really followed up? Wouldn't the Mother have said something when she heard about that if she was of Italian Heritage herself?
