You can keep the chocolate :-) I just worked out and if I even look at sweets they jump on my a$$ LOL..
This is just my take on this story so far...but I would look closer at the girlfriend, her friends, and her background. What if she had had people over while hubby was at work on other occasions and they were not people she thought they were??? (ie, they met the child, knew the house, and knew when she was alone)
I also agree with the grandfather ~snip~ "If (you're) in your bed with your child, and you get up to go use the bathroom, is there enough time for somebody to come in your house and snatch your child out of bed and disappear without you getting back to the bed in time? No," grandfather Donny Sheffield said.~snip~ http://www.wesh.com/news/18681356/detail.html (http://www.wesh.com/news/18681356/detail.html)
In keeping with that, could the girlfriend have had someone over earlier in the evening and they were hiding inside the house? Just a thought. Either that or they left the house, propped open the door to be able to get back in easily... Just thoughts of course peeps

Hi Nurse! I think abduction is being stated because they are sure the baby didn't wander off. That's my impression anyways.

I was just looking at all the missing children in FL. I started looking at all the little girls between the ages of 4-8 and the places areas they will last seen. I found about 4 and they seem to have been living in cities along Hwy 4 and hwy 17. I don't know if there is any connections, but just wanted to point it out incase someone wanted to map it.

I was looking at them to for some type of similarity - but most that I found were abducted by their mothers (non-custodial, etc). Still looking into this.

I think she lied about her age on there, because most reports give her age as 17. JMO
You have to be 18 to join Myspace unless they changed it. Meaning she most likely lied about her age, unless it's just the news reports that messed up (it's quite possible). A lot of minors do it to create profiles on these sites. Then they can change them back at will. I remember I joined there at 17 and put my age as 18 at first just to join, then changed it to 17 and no one was the wiser... That was a few years ago though, and may have changed.

"Investigators say Croslin is now with her family, but they're not calling her a suspect nor are they revealing whether the child's father is a focus of the investigation."
http://www.foxnews.com/story/0,2933,491008,00.html
Why would the girlfriend NOW be with her own family instead of back with her boyfriend? Did the LE tell them they cannot be together right now? That the boyfriend / father was breaking the law living with a 17 yr old? That he threatened her and she went back home to her mom and dad?
I just don't understand why they wouldn't be together supporting eachother IF this is a serious relationship and if they weren't in on this together.
PS: Has anyone mentioned how old Haleighs dad is? If he's much older and living with a 17 yr old, that's also very suspect on what he 'prefers'

I've been digging in the public records. The previous link doesn't contain anything - there is a disclaimer that Putnam County's records currently are not available online - seems they are transitioning.
go to my florida county.com (no spaces) and you can search public records there.
Anyway, haven't found much yet. Bio-dad - there is a probate record 3/31/87 of man with same name - probably (and most likely) his father.
Two court papers - with bio dad and bio mom's (you'll get her full name - Crystal is her middle name). One dated 10/11/05 and one 11/20/07. Can't view them which means its family court - either dealing with divorce, custody, support, whatever.
Haven't found a thing on gf or grandmother. I want to go back and make sure spelling of names is correct.

As ticked off as I was at LP for holding his own memorial on the same date and time as the Anthony memorial...I will say....his offering up 25K is a good thing....as long as he doesn't turn it into a circus. It would be in his best interest, I believe, if he would keep whatever he knows or hears about this case, to himself. I hope and pray with all that is in me that Haleigh is found quickly and safely.

Marie Griffis said her daughter and Cummings have not been together for about three years but were not at odds. She said Haleigh visited them in Baker County every other weekend. Her daughter and Cummings have a 3-year-old son, Ronald Jr., who was taken to other relatives Tuesday.
“She loves her makeup,” Griffis said of her missing granddaughter. She said except for a chance to ride a four-wheeler, Haleigh was not an outdoor girl.
“She was an indoor-type kid,” she said. “She’s not an outdoor-type kid.”
Early Tuesday morning, searchers worked the St. Johns River and the wooded area around neighborhoods off Buffalo Bluff Road.
Authorities said they searched roughly 100 houses of those who would allow them entry.
Tracy Phillips lives next to Cummings’ mobile home and said officers with police dogs walked the 200 or so yards from Cummings’ home to her dock on the St. Johns three times
She said investigators asked to search her house and went through every room, including closets.
Phillips said she didn’t know Cummings, his girlfriend or children, who had not lived in the neighborhood long.
The search was to continue through the night and be expanded again at daylight today .
Found this on News Jacksonville, but it doesn't really say why the real mom did not have custody of the kids.

Coverage of one case over the other is not done with the intention to exclude anyone. Sadly it's the nature of the beast. The cases with the most interesting background or hinkyness, such as in Caylee's and this case, peaks interest. There are so many cases, as much as I try, it's impossible to keep up with them all. I have pet cases here at WS that I wish members and the press would pay more attention to. But there are only so many hours a day and only so much one can handle. There will always be more cases than people to solve them.

Dennis M. of Kidfinders is a convicted felon. Police impersonator with a badge, stalking a woman, etc. Tried to extort money from Orlando Crimestoppers. And it's been mentioned by KathiB of WFTV that Mrs Milstead has a charge out their of Lewd and Lascivious conduct.
ETA: they also can't manage their personal finances worth a damn. And refuse to supply accounting for their non profit. Also they don't own their non profit cert. They rent it from someone else.

However, I am seeing where he called her a dumb Bit** girlfriend..

Why isn't anyone headed to Georgia or any of the other states with active amber alerts?
While I am glad Haleigh has national coverage and her picture is out there, is it being done to the exclusion of other cases?
Little Dominick has an AMBER Alert in Arkansas. He also went missing yesterday. Yet, no news, no coverage, no huge reward. It would be nice if a few people from here would check out his thread.
I understand the draw to Haleigh's case. Another little girl missing in FL. But it would be nice to have this amount of interest in others as well.

;)I guess my point was why doesn't LP, Kidfinders head for a case that isn't already national.
Because you can only be so many places at once. Tim Miller will be the first to state that. Sadly they have to pick and choose which cases to pay attention to. There will always be more missing people than resources needed to find them.
I'm going to give LP the benefit of the doubt because he's putting up 25K of his own money. But I can tell you why KFN is heading there. Only high profile cases generate donations, KWIM?

OK, couple things:
1. If someone drove up the dead end street, surely someone would have heard the car drive up, no? Or the perp would have been leery of doing so in case they were heard or seen. So, thinking that someone either - lived very close or - had alternate means of trqansportation (i.e. boat?)
2. Of course dad is going to be very angry at gf - anyone would be in highly stressful moments - I can't tell you how many times my husband and I have argued viciously during a time of high stress - doesn't mean we don't love each other, just sometimes you say things you don't mean.
3. I can't figure out if the gf was actually sleeping in the same bed, and who got up to goto the bathroom - some articles say it was the little girl that got up and some say it was the gf.
4. Still trying to find some info on why the mother did not have custody - whether by choice, etc.
5. The father's interview seemed VERY sincere - still trying to decide about Crystal's interview.

Well my husband is far from "redneck" and he is a doctor, but if anyone did anything to our child, he would 100% go crazy and he has even said he would kill the person. Come to think of it, I would do 20 years to see the perp dead. Too many people get out early and do it again. Killing them would ensure that would never happen again.
Swag,
Can you get me birthdates, places of birth on any / all of the key players? I have Haleigh's date of birth as August 17, 2003 but no place of birth (city, state).

Haleigh, her 2-year-old brother and Croslin went to bed in the same room in the family's mobile home at about 10 p.m. Monday night, investigators said. Croslin told deputies the little girl got up between 3 and 3:30 a.m. to go to the bathroom.
About the same time, Cummings arrived home from work. When they went into the bedroom, he and Croslin say they discovered that Haleigh had vanished.
I would really like to read this report for myself. This is yet another version of the timeline. According to this Haleigh was last seen within a very narrow window of time before her Dad got home.
That Misty would be with an ill tempered man that doesn't seem to treat her with much respect is not shocking. Someone posted a snipped in the first thread of a public record (which I am still trying to find) that shows Misty's mom filed suit against Jeremy Miller for repeated violence against Misty. The date listed in March 30, 2005 if anyone wants to help find the record. I am guessing searching for the Miller name is the most likely route. Misty would have been 13 then and is out on her own living with a man and his kids at the ripe old age of 17.

1)they are posting a 25k reward
2)they are coming off a case that is similar...they have experience
3)they will keep the media focused on the case
Offering up the reward is great, keeping it in front of the media is great but LP has NO experience as a searcher. He stood around & signed autographs & smoked cigars. I hope this isnt the next case he is imagining the money he can if "her skull comes rolling out." A Hardin County grand jury indicted Bobby Lynn Curtis, 29, on a charge of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon — the hot dryer.
The 2-year-old girl was treated for first- and second-degree burns.
Curtis initially was charged with first-degree injury to a child, punishable by up to life in prison. But prosecutor David Sheffield said it may have been impossible to convict on the first-degree charge, so it was reduced. Curtis now could face two to 20 years in prison if convicted.

Looks like the family is blaming the girlfriend:
The grandmother said Croslin, the father's girlfriend, is not supposed to have contact with the family.
Griffis said she is suspicious of the 17-year-old. Even though Croslin, Cummings' girlfriend for three or four months, has been good with the children, Griffis questioned how the 5-year-old could possibly have been taken while Croslin was there in the same room

Swag,
Can you get me birthdates, places of birth on any / all of the key players? I have Haleigh's date of birth as August 17, 2003 but no place of birth (city, state).
Thanks,

No - sorry - at least not yet. All I'm seeing is just the court filing - can't even view the docs. Bio-dad birth year has got to be either 1995 or 1994 as he is 24.

Suits filed [...] Lisa Croslin on behalf of Misty Croslin vs. Jeremy Miller, by and through parent/guardian, repeat violence
So -- when Misty was approximately 15, someone -- her mother, I'd guess -- filed some sort of suit against this Miller dude for abuse on Misty's behalf.
A 19-year-old girl, taking care of her boyfriend's 5-year-old -- someone else's kid -- and at least one other kid. A 19-year-old who may have been abused herself.

Can we not just be thankful he is putting up a reward and leave it at that. So tired of the LP bashing.
Offering up the reward is great, keeping it in front of the media is great but LP has NO experience as a searcher. He stood around & signed autographs & smoked cigars. I hope this isnt the next case he is imagining the money he can if "her skull comes rolling out." IMO< he knows his 15 minutes is way up on the Caylee case so he is moving on to this to keep himself on NG,

Looks like the family is blaming the girlfriend:
The grandmother said Croslin, the father's girlfriend, is not supposed to have contact with the family.
Griffis said she is suspicious of the 17-year-old. Even though Croslin, Cummings' girlfriend for three or four months, has been good with the children, Griffis questioned how the 5-year-old could possibly have been taken while Croslin was there in the same room
http://www.legacy.com/Gainesville/Obituaries.asp i do too .. i just dont buy that someone came in there and took that child i think that girlfriend had someone take her or something to that effect for some reason she isnt supposed to have contact with the family ..

(bold mine) If gf is clueless or at the worst completely irresponsible, then we may be talking about one of these 44 SO's w/in 5 miles... one of whom ("KJ") lives just .1 miles--that's point one--on Monroe Ave. defined as "one minute" walking distance from Green Lane. Sorry it gives me the creeps just thinking about it but we know that's the first place LE went--RIGHT?? At least this guy's registered and w that address, LE must've beelined it there to search. Please everyone say a prayer... JMO

I lived in Leesburg and Eustis for a few years a while ago. These smaller towns aren't like the big cities. Here's some infomation on this area. It was not far from my old stomping grounds. Back when I was there, originally I came from a town of over a half million people (Southwest) so going to the smaller towns was a shock at first. The husband reminds me of how some of the people behaved when I first moved there.

Here's a possiblilty that accounts for the timeline messiness and the dad's anger, and it allows for a happy ending:
What if the dad owed money to someone, maybe quite a lot (use your imagination). The person(s) to whom he owed it came over while dad was at work. Girlfriend couldn't pay, so they took Haleigh.

I knew what you meant, no hard feelings I hope... I think this father is probably under a tremendous amount of stress, with the economy, and having to take care of the children, and the thought of having to work at night. Who else did he have to watch his girl? Who watched her before this girl came along, thats what I'd like to know......

Gf's guilt about being irresponsible or leaving could explain some of the numerous inconsistencies in her stories. It's also possible SOME of those apparent inconsistencies could simply have been the result of hurried reporting errors (we know THAT never happens...). Like when papers initially reported she was a COUSIN (not gf) of Haleigh's dad.

Please also remember that TES will only go in when requested by law enforcement or the family. LE contacted them in this case.

I also thought of another plausibility... could the tween have had another boyfriend on the side or sketchy friends over to visit while her boyfriend was at work???
It is too early in the game to really know all of details of who was sleeping where, when, and who it was that got up to use the bathroom. It is, understandably, chaotic in their family right now. The boyfriend's adjective's used to describe his girlfriend could be out of anger and frustration with child being gone and projected onto her ~or~ they could be symptoms of a larger underlying problem. Either way, the father was clearly shocked and was not at home when his child vanished. If I were LE I would be looking at any and all people the girlfriend knew.....esp people the boyfriend had no clue about. For some reason the whole "bathroom" makes my hinkey meter vibrate right out of my pants pocket and smash on the floor...
Just thoughts of course...

I've been wondering the same thing. I wonder, too, if she knew the girl was missing before she said...not wanting BF to know she didn't call him right away. Perhaps she thought she could handle it on her own and didn't want to be the brunt of his anger. I'm sure she knew he'd be upset, of course, and was fearful. Especially if she had a history of an abusive relationship, which has been sleuthed here.

sounds to me like she may have left the kids alone around 10:00pm.....that could be why the father is so upset on the 911 calls towards the gf
That could be. She gets the kids to sleep at 10, leaves, someone takes the girl, and the teen sneaks back in before Dad gets home to find her gone.

Great, LeLe1953, my friend! I have such great faith in TM & TES, as well as LE, and the volunteers! Good for you, your husband, and son!
All of them are in my prayers as well! I hope little Haleigh can be found safe and sound. Time keeps flying past, and these first hours are so critical.
(I answered your other post on the previous thread!)
Thanks, havent seen your answer on the other post. I dont know if we are needed, they might have more than enough folks. If we are though, we will do our best to be there or I can even fly down alone Friday.
Okay, I left for a couple hours and came back to read over 10 pages! A new thread too! You all have been so busy sleuthing. Lot's of good info..congrats:)
I'm glad to see our WS astrologers have been here to get info and hopefully do a chart, I read them everyday, I just don't post :blowkiss:

I wonder how close the school is to either of these houses, or a play ground or bus stop...etc....that perhaps he could have seen the little girl...found out where she lived...etc....
Yes exactly. Do we know if Haleigh was in kindergarten yet? Could she have walked home by herself from busstop eg past this SO's (KJ eg) address? Eeesh I say this because nearest elementary is 4.5 mis. (Browning-Pearce) or maybe she attended a preschool in which case she wouldn't be walking but maybe frequented nearby park as you say. JMO

In the presser LE said they had just about searched everyone's houses in the neighborhood and were trying to get ahold of the owners of the empty places.. There are 44 registered SOs in a 5 Mile radius.
Hopefully no SO lives in the few houses LE hasn't gotten to search yet. I'm sure LE would ask their neighbors when the people left who weren't home and is it their habit to go out of town.
I wish all sex offenders had to have a city of their own to live in. I know that will never happen, but their should be some sort of restriction as to how close they (SO's) live to children. I think all SO's should have to do LWOP!

Especially if she had a history of an abusive relationship, which has been sleuthed here.
umm...yeah~! I agree...I also want to go check out her myspace peeps and see if she had a facebook...
in the 911 tape the dispacter asks her "When did you last see her"?
and she responds with" Um, we just like, you know, it was about 10 o'clock." She was sleeping."
nurse wonders who the WE is. And the umming and youknowing.... do those teenisms pervail under distress while being truthful when a child is missing????

yes she was in school - check fox - I think that's where I saw it - dad said he picked her up at bus stop. So, I'm thinking that's why he worked 7PM to 3AM - that way he was home to take her to school and pick her up and also stay with younger son during day.
INQUIRING MINDS
02-11-2009, 05:32 PM
I do not believe the Bio mom was ever married to Ronald. Her last name is Sheffield. The Putnam County Clerk records show that Ronald sought paternity in 2005 against her and at the time her name was Sheffield then and there was an injuction against her for domestic violence against a child. This may well explain why CPS was involved with this family before.
C Sheffield violated the injunction per Duval county records and her address is listed in Glen St Mary FL.
Also a couple of records on him. Wildlife violation and another that does not state the crime.
Florida sure has more than its share of missing children, I'll tell ya that - what's up with that?

the part where in the 911 tape the dispacter asks her "When did you last see her"?
and she responds with" Um, we just like, you know, it was about 10 o'clock." She was sleeping." I guess i have to keep in mind she is a child herself and i also noticed that when the police were interviewing the dad he wouldn't look in to the camera and he ignores his cellphone. If my daughter was missing i would at least look to see who is calling and also the change of tone in his voice when he is recounting the events.
May be very well nothing but just things i noticed.
Uh Oh! WHY would he ignore his cellphone? Couldn't it have been concerning his daughter? No matter who it is on caller ID, he could not have known it was NOT about Haleigh.
I think the Dad and the girlfriend know more than they are saying. I hope I am so wrong about the Dad.

I'll vouch for your friends words.....it's not all retired Northerns down here by any means. Nor Beach Bums unless you are lucky enough to be Coastal. So all inbetween is as far South as you can get, but the redneck term....all States have them, but there are still definitely some of the The Good Old Boys......i.e. Mark Lunsford and what he would have done had he found Couey before the cops did. This rare Native Floridian have never been more sad about my beloved home state, this sadness started building in the Eighties and I pray for relief from this nightmare of yet one more child somewhere where she is not supposed to be. I am one that actually worked hard to help prevent more people from becoming victims by lobbying for stronger laws and tougher sentences and those changes were implemented. Years later, I see that it has had no effect on these Monsters and my heart hurts even more.

ITA - it must be very scary for this 17 yr old. HOWEVER, IF it was my child - I would be there (no lawyer yet) just me and hubby sitting with her while they questioned her. Encouraging her to be honest and watching and listening to her as well. I don't know if she did or has anything to do with it BUT there is a lot we don't know and that CPS stuff has me really wondering. IF it was my child and I believed she was either NOT being honest or after the questioning had my hinky meter going off - I certainly wouldn't do a "Cindy A" turnaround. Nope - she would be on her own and I would be heading right over to TES command center to sign up to search!!!!
We don't know enough about all this yet and I do hope her parents are sensible, logical and caring enough to be with her. IIRC FBI can't question a minor w/o a guardian ad litem present. Isn't that why those cops out west are in trouble for questioning that 8 yr old boy about shooting his dad? There was no other adult in the room.

I misread ....I am sorry!!!! My prayers to you. Maybe someone can talk to Tim on your behalf. (((((hugs)))))))
That's ok..........thanks for the offer, but I don't think that there are anymore searches planned for my girls, the police have just let the case go cold.
In the beginning TES had Jennifer and Adrianna listed on their website and sent me flyers to post, but now I don't even think that they are on their website. I don't know why that is.
Thanks again.

Anyone know if there may be some surveillance (sp?) camera's near by that may have captured something that time of night? If there is there may still be time to check them before they are recorded over. That's one of the first things I'd be doing, I'd check every store or business in the area.

In Oregon, they don't list them like that. They only list the "higher classed" offenders. Not sure how they draw that line, but they do.
Im gonna be honest here it's sad but if you go to watchdog.com and look at the offenders in the area they are color coded....red is for offenses against children....unfortunately it is mostly red squares ////: this is the jacksonville area which is very close to putnum county.... :(:( i just love children its so hard to imagine such horrible ppl....Does anyone think this could be drug related?

for some reason it is not working:
-door was ajar... has not been determined to have been locked. was not kicked
-the gf has been interviewed. fbi may also interview her. they have to be very careful with her due to who she is and what she is (not sure what that meant...perhaps her age)
-gf is in the care of her family
-everyone is a suspect. everyone interviewed has been offered a polly; will not disclose who did or who did not or results due to investigation
-mother received le notification that blood hounds tracked to edge of water; could be due to nature of the wind.. if we really thought the child was in the water you would be seeing a lot more activity than what you are seeing
-boats and aviation will continue over the water and area including infared
-no reason to think she wandered off she is afraid of the dark
-grid search: they may be doing one.. they are widening the search... bringing volunteer groups in tomorrow or friday
-media asks about homes searched and sos in the area.... le says they have searched and will research again and again and again... a few homes that are not lived in and they are working on getting into those homes with landowners
-they are also considering sos on the other side of the river because of boat access... a lot of sos have been self reporting in
-they believe the line in the sand, per se, could be wider than this area....but they are also going to look that way too....meaning a mobile offender
-brick: back door was propped open with cinder block...it is heavy and they are testing it
-blankets were brought out to isolate scent
-they are getting a lot of tips
-reinforced...getting a lot of tips
-never safe to say that someone in the family is not a suspect.... family is cooperating... no difficult persons... no confrontational situations
-few leads talked about cars and persons that do not live in florida....it is premature... they are working them
-leads are difficult...
-they have to run them all down with equal value
-they will not quit until they have talked to all of the sos
-no custody issues
father has custody
-no parental abduction type situation
-volunteers will rally tomorrow....may be out there tonight..... around seven will be the next pressor after they have several le meetings

I hope JVM runs the Press Conference. I have to wonder why they are giving a 2nd PC in one day if they have nothing else to tell us other than what they had at 2pm. Hopefully the interview with gf today has given them more information.
Praying for good news and bracing for....well we all know how that statement ends............

This is a pretty remote area. The only thing would be a convience store for the cameras.

Oh, I understand remote areas, we live "out in the sticks" but our local convience store "out in the sticks" has great cameras, and to get to any major town or highway you would have to pass something similar. It was just a thought, but I'm sure LE has already done this.
Are you familiar with the area? Not give away your location, just wondering if you know the area? I hope its ok to ask?:o

I am not groaning... (respectfully LA :-) because
1)they are posting a 25k reward
2)they are coming off a case that is similar...they have experience
3)they will keep the media focused on the case

I feel the same way....Keep it in the media, I don't care how or who at this point because I'm sick...sick at what's happening to our children.:(

I also noticed on your link that le is going to secure the home where she went missing from tonight.... Does that strike anyone else as a little bit LATE in the game??? Esp in terms of gathering evidence from a possible stranger abduction? Not sure what all the rest of you peeps think?
