Officials Reinterview Family Members Of Missing Girl
Search Area Expanded; Volunteers Help Authorities
POSTED: Friday, February 13, 2009
UPDATED: 12:56 pm EST February 13, 2009

Hardy said the girl's family members will be interviewed again, but refused to say exactly who.
Hardy refused to comment on the family members authorities have talked to or whether their stories were consistent
The sheriff said investigators have looked into more than 350 leads, but have not made any arrests.
"The world is a suspect," the sheriff said.
Several dozen sex offenders and predators living in the area have all been interviewed and their homes checked, Hardy said.
Dominick Pape, special agent in charge of the Jacksonville office of the Florida Department of Law Enforcement, said forensic evidence collected during the investigation such as DNA and fingerprints would be a priority.

Amber Alert -- Search For Haleigh Intensifies
Friday, February 13, 2009 1:24:30 PM
<snipped>
At a 10:30 a.m. press conference Friday, Putnam County Sheriff Jeff Hardy told reporters that more than 100 volunteers are now searching for Haleigh Cummings. Texas EquuSearch is leading the volunteer search operation.
Texas EquuSearch organizer Tim Miller has led hundreds of these searches. And each time, he goes in hoping for the best. But he's also been through enough to know that time is running out if Haleigh is still in the woods with swamps near her home.

Search Expands As Crews Look For Missing 5-Year-Old
Friday, February 13, 2009 – updated: 12:45 pm EST February 13, 2009
<snipped>
Friday morning, 80 hours after the little girl disappeared, the sheriff's office confirmed all 44 sex offenders within a five-mile radius have been interviewed and cleared. The search area is now expanding beyond the five miles around the home in Satsuma.
There have been more than 350 leads and there are more than 100 volunteers and more than 50 law enforcement officials helping.
"There's areas they've got mapped out and we are going to concentrate on that priority area law enforcement has. We're going to cover every square inch," said Tim Miller, EquuSearch.
The new search area will include rivers, thick brush and swampy areas. The search will continue round the clock over the weekend.

Capt. Steve Rose with the Putnam County Sheriff's Office would not go into detail about the items found, but assured the public during a news conference Friday afternoon that authorities working on the case still believe Haleigh is alive and that she was abducted.
"It was a very productive, successful day," he said.
The items found will be sent to a lab in Jacksonville for further investigation.
Earlier this week, family members of Haleigh were offered polygraph examinations as authorities interview everyone related to the child. Rose said those interviews are ongoing.

Vigils Held For Missing Putnam Co. Girl
Searchers To Focus On Canal On Thursday
POSTED: 6:52 am EST February 12, 2009
UPDATED: 7:36 am EST February 12, 2009
<snipped>
Law enforcement agencies from across the state joined the FBI on Wednesday to search for the girl. The community gathered Wednesday night for a pair of candlelight vigils in Haleigh's honor.
The girl's parents are separated, so both held their own vigil. Her mother and grandmother said they won't give up hope.
"I don't know where she is or who has her. I just want her home," mother Crystal Sheffield said.
Searchers will focus on a canal behind Haleigh's home on Thursday.

POSTED: Thursday, February 12, 2009

Putnam County Sheriff's Office Major Gary Bowling said there's no longer any reason to believe Haleigh wandered away. Bowling said there's no evidence of Haleigh near her home.
Authorities have searched Haleigh's neighborhood house to house and divers have probed the St. Johns River.
Major Gary Bowling said volunteer groups may begin searching nearby areas of thick vegetation Thursday.

Ok - I'm taking a little bit of literary license here.
I believe the layout after the actual picutre IS, IN FACT, the layout of the trailer. Why? I come from a long line of plumbers. LOOK at the roof of the actual trailer. There is a "big pipe like thingy" just off center in the back - THAT IS A BATHROOM EXHAUST - I know exhaust isn't the right word but that is were the bathroom is. If you look again you will see a smaller one just past the back door - that is the laundry "exhaust".
Seeing that - I decided to post these here.

The father's 17-year-old girlfriend, Misty Croslin, told sheriff's investigators that she was sharing a bed with Haleigh when the little girl disappeared.
Marie Griffis, Haleigh's maternal grandmother, said Croslin has given conflicting accounts of that night to media outlets. Sheriff's officials said they are sticking with their original interview with Croslin and would not comment further on the discrepancies.
The Orlando Sentinel could not reach Croslin on Friday, and Haleigh's father, Ronald Cummings, declined several requests for comment, though they have denied any involvement during televised interviews.
Several residents said that drug use is common.
"There ain't much else to do around here," said 20-year-old Matthew Ross, who runs the local barber shop with his brother.

An online court docket from the Putnam County Clerk of Courts Office backs up Cummings' general description of the custody situation.
On Sept. 16, 2005, he filed a petition to determine paternity. Later that month, Crystal Sheffield sought a protective order against him, but then dropped the petition during a court hearing.
In December of 2005, a judge declared Cummings the father of both children, gave him primary custody, and ordered the mother to pay child support.
The legal situation continued through November 2007.
In most cases, the outcomes of subsequent hearings are not clear from the docket. In one instance, the father filed an emergency motion for return of the children.
On Tuesday, the day Haleigh's absence was reported, the docket indicates a motion for contempt of court was filed, but it does not indicate who filed the motion or against whom it was filed.

SATSUMA -- A news conference is scheduled for 4 p.m. Saturday for an update on Day 5 of the search for missing 5-year-old Haleigh Cummings.
Investigators said they will go back over some areas already covered to make sure they did not miss anything.
"We are actually in the middle of doing a staffing, to basically learn from the searchers, and that will gauge our course of conduct for [Saturday], to see what type of investigation we're going to be doing based on what was found [Friday], based on the tips and the leads that we have," said Putnam County Sheriff Jeff Hardy.

JACKSONVILLE, FL -- As the search for Haleigh Cummings enters Day 5, local parents who have gone through similar heartbreak are coming together to show support. Sheila DeLongis, the mother of Maddie Clifton, organized a get-together along with parents of murdered children at Metropolitan Park Saturday.
DeLongis says the event is in honor of Maddie, her 8-year-old daughter who was murdered ten years ago by a neighbor on the First Coast.
DeLongis spoke with First Coast News Friday, sharing her thoughts and feelings on Haleigh's disappearance.

SATSUMA - Two hundred and fifty volunteers scoured rural Putnam County for signs of Haleigh Cummings, but they failed to find anything suspicious, a Putnam County Sheriff's official said at a televised news conference Saturday afternoon.
Investigators have also determined that several objects they deemed "items of interest" that were found by searchers Friday are not related to Haleigh's disappearance, Chief Deputy Rick Ryan said at the news conference.

As Saturday's search came to an end, Putnam County Undersheriff Rick Ryan said the crime lab had ruled those items out as evidence and nothing new of significance had turned up.
Volunteers with Texas Equusearch accompanied by law enforement officers continued to look for anything out of the ordinary, such as fresh tire tracks, beaten-down brush, burn marks, clothing or anything that's out of place in the environment.
Saturday's search also included the use of high-tech equipment, including some SONAR devices and thermal-imaging cameras.

EquuSearch's Haleigh Update: Feb. 13, 2009

<snipped>
02/13/09 7:00 pm - Approximately 170 volunteers showed up today, along with 37 TES staff members. Teams were dispatched throughout the day in conjunction with members of various law enforcement agencies. We feel as if we covered a lot of ground. The community has truly come together and supported our search effort with donations of food and water, along with volunteering in the search. Law enforcement has done an incredible job of searching and of providing TES with support.
If you are interested in volunteering today, or over the weekend if the search continues, please keep your eye on this website for updates. To volunteer, you must be 18 years old or older and have a valid photo ID. In order to make the check in process easier, please download, complete and bring with you, a copy of the Volunteer Registration form and a copy of your valid photo ID.
We need people to search on foot and on horseback. We do not need ATV’s at this time. Horse owners must bring a copy of a negative Coggins report for each horse, to be retained by TES for our records. At this time, we are not in need of any K-9 teams.

02/14/09 - 1:45pm - Over 200 volunteers have shown up this morning to search for Haleigh. In addition, people have come from all over with donations of food and drink for our volunteers, and we cannot begin to express our gratitude. Searchers are working extremely hard to find Haleigh, and conditions are rough. The terrain is treacherous in places, and sometimes, it is slow moving. However, we are making good progress and we are all feeling as if we are making a difference.

Search Continues For Missing 5-Year-Old Girl
Friday, February 13, 2009 – updated: 9:26 pm EST February 14, 2009
<snipped>
The search area expanded Friday into thick, dense woods. Saturday, about 250 volunteers showed up to assist Texas EquuSearch in the search for the missing 5-year-old. "There's areas they've got mapped out and we're gonna concentrate on that. The area's law enforcement has. We're gonna cover every square inch," EquuSearch's Tim Miller said. While deputies are still on the ground looking, all of the volunteers free up more detectives to work on the investigation.
Saturday, George and Cindy Anthony stopped by the search area briefly to offer support to Haleigh’s parents. After months of searching, Caylee Anthony’s remains were found in a wooded area near her home. People searching in Satsuma are optimistic this search will end differently and Haleigh will be found alive.
The past several days Haleigh’s parents have been holding separate prayer vigils, but Saturday night both sides of the family will join together.

They have not only talked to neighbors but in some cases have gotten permission to search property. And they are working with state officials who have firsthand experience with such cases, such as the Florida Department of Law Enforcement's Child Abduction Response Team - known as CART.
"Our people here have either worked on missing child cases or are part of our CART team, which has been out here and which Putnam County initiated on the front end," said FDLE Special Agent Dominick D. Pape. "If they have not worked on a case, they have at least had lots of training in this to assist the sheriff."
Where they can, they've gone into residences, including getting permission from owners of vacant buildings to search the premises.
And officers have indicated they've been trying to check not only the whereabouts but the homes of 44 registered sex offenders living on both sides of the St. Johns River near Haleigh's home.

Ryan said law officers have gone to the Cummings home many times and will continue to do so to make sure they have not missed anything.
Ryan did not discuss the details of the investigation or any polygraphs administered. However, he said, "Everybody is a person of interest. We're continuing the interviews. We're talking to everybody."
The underwater search in the St. Johns River planned for today will not take place, although air and foot searches will continue.
"After tomorrow, we will sit down and evaluate all the areas of search throughout the week and make a determination as to whether we need to continue to expand or if we're satisfied with the area that we've taken a look at thoroughly," Ryan said.
Griffis said Ronald Jr. is holding up well and is aware that his sister is missing. She said she hoped the family could all get together for "Junior's" birthday today. He is turning 4. "We have to do it for Haleigh," she said.

Four days ago, few outside Putnam County, Fla., had heard of this one-traffic-light town about 40 miles south of Jacksonville.
Now, dozens of reporters and satellite trucks have converged on Satsuma, Fla., population 5,600, to tell the world one of this community's saddest stories: the disappearance of 5-year-old Haleigh Cummings.
The fair-haired girl vanished late Monday or early Tuesday as her younger brother and father's girlfriend slept in a mobile home.
Authorities continue to treat the case as an abduction but are releasing little information.

Officials press on with Haleigh search

Putnam County Sheriff Jeff Hardy announced Sunday morning that they are moving the command post to Palatka to the agency's Emergency Operations Center so that they can more efficiently investigate, and coordinate, the search for 5-year-old Haliegh Ann-Marie Cummings
Hardy said the residents of River Villas, a subdivision just off Buffalo Bluff Road, have been very accepting of the crush of media and law enforment agencies that have invaded this small town 10 miles south of Palatka. But, he said, that it was time to give them their community back.

At a 4 p.m. news conference Sunday, Putnam County deputies said nothing of significance was found on the sixth day of the investigation. Chief Deputy Rick Ryan said he was confident investigators left no stone unturned in the search area near Haleigh's home.
Officials said several people have inquired about Chad Reynolds, a sexual predator who disappeared from Marion County. Ryan said although Reynolds has ties to Putnam County, investigators do not believe he is connected to Haleigh’s disappearance.

Ryan said that other than a couple of select areas, they were suspending the search and focusing more on the investigation, which was the reason the command center was moved from a trailer in Satsuma to county offices in Palatka, where more telephones and better Internet access would help the investigators processing more than 500 leads that have come in.
"We're just as enthusiastic today about it as we were on day one," Ryan said, while also said that going nearly a week without a sighting or solid lead is frustrating.
"This is not CSI. We cannot wrap it up in an hour. We wish we could," Ryan said. "These men and women are working their tails off."

Ground search for Haleigh wraps up today

SATSUMA - A search for 5-year-old Haleigh Ann-Marie Cummings expanded Sunday to an area about 10 miles south of this rural community, though no new substantial leads or information surfaced.
Ryan said they will conduct a search of two more small locations today. After that, the ground search phase of the investigation will be complete. Search crews will be placed on standby. "We're not just going to do searches for show," Ryan said, adding that Sunday was the last day EquuSearch would be used as well. Ryan said that even though the ground search may be ending, the investigation is still in high gear. He said the Sheriff's Office is working with the Florida Department of Law Enforcement and the FBI on the case.
"We assured them we are not scaling back the investigation," Ryan said, adding that the family understood and supported the move.
Even though Sheriff's Office officials would not disclose where law enforcement was searching on Sunday, about 77 searchers from numerous agencies, including the Alachua County Sheriff's Office, were located just north of Crescent City off U.S. 17. It was an area that Ryan said was law enforcement sensitive based on tips they had received. However, a thorough search produced no new clues, he said.

New Area Searched For Haleigh Cummings
Monday, February 16, 2009 – updated: 12:26 pm EST February 16, 2009
<snipped>
Sixty-one deputies were conducting a grid search Monday in a wooded area just a few miles from Haleigh Cumming's home in Satsuma. Deputies think the 5-year-old was taken from her bedroom last Tuesday and there's still no sign of her this afternoon.
Monday morning, nothing was found in the new search area. Deputies and police from several agencies across the area took a break around noon, but planned to continue searching for clues later in the afternoon.
Monday's search will be the last time crews will do physical ground searches in Putnam County for Haleigh. On the first day of searching, a total of 130 law enforcement officers helped search for the little girl. It's a much different scene now.
Searchers are going through the wooded area shoulder to shoulder, grid searching, looking for anything they can find. Deputies won't say why they are searching the new area or if it was a tip that led them there.

As massive manhunt winds down, Haleigh’s relatives vow to work together

Clint Van Zandt, an NBC News consultant and former FBI profiler, came on with Gregory after Crystal Cummings and said called the case “a frustrating thing.” Statistics show that after the first day a child is missing, hopes of finding her alive decrease dramatically. “They’re playing beat the clock, and right now the clock is winning,” Van Zandt told Gregory.
He said that the girl’s family are probably still suspects, but suggested that someone with a vendetta against the girl’s father could have abducted her. He said the family had been in the trailer home for only a short time, so it’s possible that someone came there looking for a former tenant.
“They just moved into that trailer about three weeks ago, so someone could even have targeted a previous resident, or it could be some unknown child predator, but that’s tough,” Van Zandt said.

UPDATED: Official: It's now unclear what Haleigh Cummings was wearing
Where is Haleigh?

Today's Updates
4:30 p.m. Investigators announced this afternoon that they do not know what Haleigh Cummings was wearing the night she disappeared from her Satsuma home.
The pink shirt they initially thought she was wearing is in their possession. Authorities wouldn't release any more details about the shirt how they discovered the shirt and whether it was being tested for forensic evidence. "Now, what we need to focus on is the face," said Florida Department of Law Enforcement Special Agent in Charge Dominick Pape. "We don't want people to focus on the shirt."
9:53 a.m. New tips generated overnight have led Putnam County investigators to places around Florida and even out-of-state to search for missing 5-year-old Haleigh Cummings. Detectives canvassed the Satsuma neighborhood last night and found new people they hadn't spoken to the first time they did a "knock and talk" last week, an official said.
Several people have been taken polygraph tests, including Haleigh's father Ronald Cummings, 25, and his girlfriend Misty Croslin, 17. Croslin was the last person to see Haleigh before she disappeared. Investigators would not release information about what those tests showed or comment on whether they still believe Croslin is telling the truth.
Chad Eugene Reynolds, 25, who was convicted in Putnam in 2003 of lewd or lascivious molestation of a child younger than 12, has not been seen since he left his mother's Ocklawaha home for a Super Bowl party Feb. 1.
Marion officials alerted Putnam County investigators about Reynolds after Haleigh disappeared. At this point, authorities don't think the two are connected, Marion County Sheriff's spokeswoman Jenifer Fisher said.

Earlier, investigators said the 5-year-old girl was wearing a pink shirt, but that shirt has been located. Now, officials do not know what clothing the girl was wearing when she was reported missing from her Putnam County home on Feb. 19. At a 4 p.m. news conference, investigators would make no comment about the pink shirt.
With the ground search wrapped up around Haleigh's home, investigators moved to the Lake Como area on Tuesday.
But more tactical searches may be in the future for law enforcement officers as they follow up on tips and other leads.

Amber Alert -- New Leads In Search For Haleigh
Tuesday, February 17, 2009 10:35:43 AM
<snipped>
"We were able to come up with several good leads that we are following up on," Rose said. "Those leads, as I said, were a result of doing the neighborhood canvas last night."
Afterward, volunteers began packing up to leave, something Ronald Cummings said is his worst nightmare.[I] "Law enforcement is discouraged. Volunteers, I don't know, but I encourage anybody that wants to help look for my daughter come back and help me look," Ronald Cummings said.
Cummings, however, made one final call to his daughter, hoping she was listening.
"For the perpetrator or perpetrators, please bring her home. Please bring her home safe," Cummings said. "And if she's watching, baby, I love you. I'll never give up on you."

I think this clears up how long Ron has been living in the house:
http://m.firstcoastnews.com/news.jsp?key=165580&rc=lo
SATSUMA, FL -- Donald Bard remembers the phone call early last Tuesday morning that woke him up.
His wife Phyllis answered the call.
"We were sleeping and then we received a phone call, the automated phone call that Haleigh Cummings was missing in our neighborhood," said Phyllis Bard.
The Bard's recognized the name right away.
"The home where Haleigh was taken from belonged to my parents," said Phyllis.
It sits right next door to her own home, and Phyllis began renting it out a few years ago after her father died of diabetes complications and her mother died in a car crash 80 days later.
The Bard's first met Haleigh's father, Ron Cummings, last August.
Phyllis says, "They first moved next door to us, and then they needed a bedroom for each of the children he said, and so he asked to rent that house and we rented that to him in November."
She's an adorable little girl," says Phyllis. "Just adorable. She would come over when I was hanging clothes on the line, and I would see the two of them out in the yard playing and she's just, what can I say, a beautiful, adorable little girl. It just breaks my heart that all this has happened."
The Bard's say, almost one week later, it's still so hard to believe. The FDLE Command Center is just yards from their front door, and Monday night, the Putnam County Sheriff's Office teamed up with the Florida Highway Patrol to set up a another roadblock outside the neighborhood.
Sgt. Joseph Wells of the Putnam County Sheriff's Office said, "It's just a general set of questions. Were they down here last week, and then if yes, a few more questions."
"We might find that there's a paper delivery or a gas delivery company or something that comes and goes on this day and time and we'd just like to know who was down here and maybe did they see anything."
Sgt. Wells said the roadblock, which will be up until 2 a.m., is part of CART protocol, which is the Child Abduction Response Team.
Just down the road, Phyllis Bard thinks of the missing daughter, and of her own mother, and is comforted.
"I heard on the television, hold on to hope. I heard the sheriff say that, and all of a sudden it hit me, my mother's name was Hope. It's the house of hope. Because if my mother were living, my mother would say, just hang on to hope."

Haleigh Search Taking Financial Toll On Sheriff's Office
Tuesday, February 17, 2009

PUTNAM COUNTY, Fla. -- Eyewitness News has learned that Putnam County commissioners will be looking for financial help from the state and federal governments because of the search for Haleigh.
From overtime and fuel, to equipment costs, Putnam County Sheriff Jeff hardy said the search has taken a toll on the sheriff's office budget.
Hardy said assistance from outside agencies helped, but the county still has a bottom line. He met with commissioners Monday to discuss other possibilities for funding.

In a news conference Tuesday morning, investigators said they came up with several good leads last night. They also said they conducted a vehicle checkpoint in the area which is an in-house protocol that detectives and administrators train for in cases of missing children. Investigators would not detail the nature of the searches.
Sheriff's officers said they are confident in a general timeline surrounding Haleigh's disappearance, and are continuing to look at everybody as a suspect.
Only officials with the sheriff's office will continue to search for the missing girl.

Is there any way we can get a copy of the Motion for Contempt filed in the custody proceeding on 2-10-09? That to me seems like it could be significant. Was Dad filing a motion for contempt because mom wasn't paying up? The timing is suspicious. Now I know she went missing on the 9th, but its possible that they had to give the person a heads up that it would be filed before filing it.

Investigators Begin 2nd Week In Hunt For Haleigh
Sheriff To Family: 'Do Not Give Up Hope'
POSTED: Tuesday, February 17, 2009

For six days, teams of up to 300 people, along with boats, divers, bloodhounds and aircraft searched and researched a five-mile radius around the doublewide mobile home where Haleigh lived with her younger brother, father and his girlfriend.
WJXT-TV reported that investigators have interviewed Croslin, Cummings, Haleigh's mother Crystal Sheffield, and extended family members and friends who had contact with Haleigh in the hours and days before she disappeared. Lie-detector tests were administered to most of them.
Rose said a canvas of the Hermet's neighborhood and check point along Buffalo Bluff Road -- the only access to the home park -- on Monday afternoon and evening generated several new leads that they would be following up on Tuesday.

About ten years ago, a different family rented the double wide trailer where Haleigh Cummings lives. Dr. Jesse Smallwood, a minister, used to live there with his family. He's now in Georgia.
Smallwood remembered the house and said its floors were noisy. He said if someone was walking inside, he could hear them even if they were on the other side of the house. "Someone could not carry the child out of that house unless someone was in a drunken stupor, and not hear that child being taken from that house," Smallwood said.
Croslin also said Ronald Cummings, Haleigh's father, checked the locks before he left for work.
Beyond the lock, Smallwood says the way the home is tucked into the woods makes it a perfect place for someone to snatch a child. "You could park down into the trees and walk right up," Smallwood explained. "If you were going to abduct someone, all you would have to do is sit back there and no one would see you."

The floor creeks, the back door sticks and makes a scraping noise, and you can feel other people walking in the house.
Smallwood stresses that the next owner(s) may have made upgrades to the rickety structure, but he remembers complaining often about the home to his landlord. "If someone was even trying to creep across the house, the floor creeks," Smallwood explained by phone.
Smallwood and his wife now live in Claxton, Georgia, but during that year they spend living at 202 Green Lane in Satsuma, Florida, Smallwood says the nights were scary for his then 9-year-old son. "He was scared of the dark, and we had a security light put in there," Smallwood says, and goes on to describe the area around the mobile home. "If there was no security light, it was pitch, absolutely black."
"You could park down in the trees," he explains, "if you were going to abduct someone, all you would have to do is sit back there and no one would see you watching the house."

The family of Haleigh Cummings wants people to get to know the little girl.
Her grandmother says too much of the focus seems to be on the search, how it's going, where they're looking, and how many people are searching.
She says people need to understand the 5-year-old better.
Her favorite movie is "Air Bud." Her favorite color is red.
She's a huge Hannah Montana fan.
This personal knowledge of the missing 5-year-old comes from a family who has spent the last week sleeping in tents heated by portable propane heaters.

Ray said that while volunteers searched the woods, law enforcement personnel focused much of their attention on a nearby waterway.
"They had about 30 boats in the water," Ray said. "They were conducting sonar searches and they were also dragging the bottom."
AND
In related news, volunteers found one area of interest in the woods where someone had constructed a makeshift lean-to and furniture out of tree branches. A shovel and length of rope were found at the location; however it remains unclear if any of the items are of relevance.

tip that the FBI received from a local resident who came forward and told them that Misty Croslin, the 17-year-old girlfriend of Haleigh's father, 24-year-old Ronald Cummings, was not at home the night Haleigh disappeared. It has further been alleged that the night Haleigh was abducted was not the first time Croslin had sneaked out while Cummings was at work and his kids were sleeping. There are further allegations regarding her activities at that time; however that information has not officially been released.

PUTNAM COUNTY, FL -- Pastor Terry Wright said Tuesday night, "We can choose to embrace despair, or we can choose to have hope."
Hope - the feeling that what is wanted can be had.
5-year-old Haleigh Cumming's mother walked into Dunn's Creek Baptist Church in San Mateo clutching her youngest child, and framed pictures of her oldest.
Johnny Marcus Sheffield, Jr., Haleigh's uncle on her mother's side, said through tears, "[Haleigh] is amazing. She's the greatest. Her and her little brother, I just love them to death. It's a shame."

PALATKA, FL -- Mounted on horseback, Haleigh's father Ronald Cummings continues to search the area with friends and volunteers. Both sides of the family are saying they are canvassing the area again.
At Putnam County E.O.C Headquarters the case continues to intensify. Detectives are now saying the five-year-old was not wearing a pink shirt.
"We are not going to talk about any investigations pertaining to this pink shirt. Law enforcement has that in our possession," says Chief Rick Ryan with the Putnam Co. Sheriff's Office.
The main focal point investigators say is Haleigh's face and what she looks like.
That is what they want people to concentrate on after evaluating all leads up to this point.

Investigators Following More Than 1,000 Tips

PALATKA, Fla. -- Since an Amber Alert was issued for 5-year-old Haleigh Cummings one week ago, more than 1,000 tips have poured into a Crimestoppers hot line; and until Tuesday afternoon investigators have not released specific information about the leads they've received.
However, on Tuesday, new information was released that Haleigh's father's girlfriend, 17-year-old Misty Croslin, may not have been at home the night Haleigh disappeared.
Investigators in Putnam County said they are looking into the Croslin tip as a possibility.
Hope Service Held For Haleigh
Over the past week, family and friends of Haleigh have come together to pray for the child's safe return during candlelight vigils. On Tuesday afternoon, instead of gathering for an outdoor candlelight vigil, they met a church a few miles from the Cummings' home.
Haleigh's father, Ronald Cummings, and her mother, Crystal Sheffield, sat side-by-side throughout the service as they held their son and listened to words of encouragement. Croslin was also at the service, sitting on Cummings' other side.

PUTNAM COUNTY, Fla. -- Eyewitness News discovered that the Putnam County Sheriff's Office is investigating Ronald Cummings' girlfriend, who claimed that she was at home and sleeping when Haleigh Cummings was taken. But a tip puts the spot light on the 17-year-old girlfriend. The most recent information investigators got was that Ronald Cummings' girlfriend, Misty Croslin, may not have been home when Haleigh disappeared from her Satusum house early last week.
On CNN, Tuesday night, Haleighs paternal grandmother, Terese Neves, spoke out in support of the 17-year-old's story.
"I believe someone went into the house and took her. I believe they either know my grandchildren and my family or Haleigh's mother's family," said Neves.
Sheriff's deputies also said they have the pink shirt that Haleigh was thought to be wearing when she disappeared.

SATSUMA -- Despite following up on hundreds of leads, Putnam County deputies said they're no closer to finding missing 5-year-old Haleigh Cummings.
Deputies will hold a press conference at 9:30 a.m. Wednesday to discuss the next course of action.
"We were able to come up with several good leads that we are following up on," Rose said. "Those leads, as I said, were a result of doing the neighborhood canvas last night."
Investigators conducted spot searches Tuesday based on those leads. So far, all of those leads have come up short.

Authorities were originally told the 5-year-old was last seen wearing the pink shirt. That's the information they released to the public in the Amber Alert and on missing-person fliers about the girl, who lives in the small town of Satsuma. On Tuesday, investigators wouldn't discuss details of the pink shirt in their possession -- how they found it, where it was and whether it will be tested for any forensic evidence.
Several people have taken polygraph tests, including Haleigh's father and Croslin. Investigators would not release information about what those tests showed or comment on whether they still think Croslin is telling the truth.

SATSUMA, FL -- The mother, father and grandmother of Haleigh Cummings are at the Putnam County Sheriff's Office right now. Moments ago, Marie Griffis, Haleigh's grandmother, told First Coast News that deputies had told her to pick up Crystal Sheffield, Haleigh's mother, and take her to the Sheriff's Office.
Griffis left in a hurry, according to First Coast News Chief Investigative reporter Jackelyn Barnard. Haleigh's father, Ronald Cummings, was taken there by the lead detective in the case.
The flurry of activity came hours after a news conference where investigators announced little except the tip about Misty Croslin not being at the house when Haleigh vanished.

Investigators also said they have processed a car as evidence, but did not release any additional details.
A recent tip suggested that Haleigh’s father’s girlfriend, Misty Croslin, 17, was not home when Haleigh disappeared. Croslin told police she put Haleigh to bed the night before she went missing and was home the entire time. Haleigh’s paternal grandmother said the tip is not true. "That’s a crock. "When the other house around the corner became available, which was a three bedroom, [Cummings] told the property managers -- without seeing the house -- 'I'll take it.' He needed a three bedroom, for his children," Mr. Bard explained.
The Bards added that it would not have been pitch black in Haleigh's house because of two skylights. Mr. Bard said, "That night there was a full moon and so there would still have been a potential with the skylights that a person could have seen to navigate the house."

SATSUMA, Fla. - Putnam County Sheriff's investigators said they have received a tip that the 17-year-old girlfriend in the case of a missing Satsuma girl was not actually home at the time of the girl's disappearance, which is contrary to what she told detectives.
Haleigh's father, Ronald Cummings, told investigators his daughter was missing when he returned home from work around 3 a.m. Tuesday. Ronald said his girlfriend was awake and frantic that Haleigh was missing from her bed.
Croslin has responded to the allegations by the tipsters and said they are lying. Croslin is adamant that she was there at the home with Haleigh and says no one can say she wasn't there.

SATSUMA, FL -- Newly released radio transmissions shed more light on the night Haleigh Cummings vanished from her bedroom. A 'signal 8,' which is police chatter for a missing person, alerted deputies to 202 Green Lane, Haleigh's home.
"I got the age on this kid," said one deputy. "Is it a boy or a girl?" "Whiskey Foxtrot," said dispatch. It's code for white female. "Last seen wearing her PJs."
Deputies swarm her neighborhood and take note of the railroad tracks. Dispatch informs them a train just passed through. More deputies respond, some need directions from dispatchers. And the sheriff's office works to get dogs and helicopters to the scene. "Stay at the residence," said one deputy to a colleague. "Maintain that point of access in reference to the canine and do another thorough search from inside the house."

The Putnam County Sheriff's Office confirmed Wednesday that it received a tip claiming Misty Croslin didn't tell law enforcement the truth about her whereabouts the night Haleigh disappeared. Croslin, the 17-year-old girlfriend of Haleigh's father, told officials she was sleeping with Haleigh and her 4-year-old brother while their father, Ronald Cummings, was at work.
But the tipster said Croslin left the double-wide trailer late Feb. 9 or early Feb. 10. Haleigh was reported missing Feb. 10. "We have received that tip. They are following up on it," Capt. Dick Schauland of the Putnam County Sheriff's Office said during a news conference.

SATSUMA, FL -- As day nine of the search for Haleigh Cummings comes to a close, candles still burn, tips continue to come in, and family members say they are left with even more questions.
"Nobody can make up their mind on what she was wearing, who was at home with her, where anybody was that night. It's unbelievable!" says Marie Griffis, Haleigh's maternal grandmother. Griffis says it's hard to know what to believe. She just wants the truth. "There are just so many lies going around," says Griffis.
Investigators aren't saying much when answering questions about possible leads, including talk about examining a particular vehicle as evidence. "It was processed for evidence, but we're not going to get into that, but it was processed by FDLE," says Detective Dominick Pape with FDLE.

SATSUMA -- At an afternoon press conference Thursday, the Putnam County Sheriff's Office said Misty Croslin, the girlfriend of Haleigh Cummings' father, is also being questioned again.
They also said Timothy Randall Loucakis, a sexual predator who lives about a mile away from the girl, has been arrested for a curfew violation. However, they said there is nothing linking him to Haleigh's disappearance.
The sheriff's office said he was one of the first people who were interviewed when Haleigh disappeared. His home has also been search.
Investigators say they've received over 1,200 tips in this case, including one saying Croslin was not home at the time of Haleigh's disappearance.
At a Wednesday afternoon press conference, investigators said, based on tips, they put a boat on the St. Johns River and have processed a vehicle, but they would not give details.
Investigators would not release information about what the polygraph tests showed, or comment on whether they still believe Croslin is telling the truth.

In a news conference Wednesday, Putnam County Sheriff's Office Capt. Dick Schauland said investigators are now working through about 1,200 tips, including again questioning the child's father, Ronald Cummings, and his girlfriend Misty Croslin.
Putnam County Sheriff's investigators said they have received a tip that the 17-year-old girlfriend in the case of a missing Satsuma girl was not actually home at the time of the girl's disappearance, which is contrary to what she told detectives. Croslin has responded to the allegations by the tipsters and said they are lying. Croslin is adamant that she was there at the home with Haleigh and says no one can say she wasn't there.

Her disappearance triggered a massive search in and around the Hermits Cove neighborhood, not far from the St. Johns River in South Putnam.
Croslin, who was babysitting both Haleigh and her 4-year-old brother Ronald Cummings Jr., said she last saw the girl at 10 p.m. Feb. 9. Haleigh was reported missing a few hours later at 3:27 a.m.
Though the number of tips continues to swell, Schauland said information from the public likely would play a critical role in solving the case.
"Of course we're following up every one of them," he said during the press conference. "Sooner or later the one we need is going to come up and it's going to make the difference." Schauland added, "There's no persons of interest or suspects."

Haleigh's Family Living In Tents During Search

PUTNAM COUNTY, Fla. -- Eyewitness News spoke with Haleigh's family Thursday about how they are coping. They are living in a tent, about 15-by15. Coolers are full of water and drinks and inside is where the family is living, because their mobile home down the street is still a crime scene.
New information was released Thursday about the pink shirt Haleigh was last reported wearing. Ronald Cummings' grandmother, Annette Sykes, told Eyewitness News earlier this week deputies allowed Misty Croslin back inside the mobile home where Haleigh was abducted.
Sykes said the 17-year-old girlfriend found the pink shirt in the home, but the sheriff's office won't confirm where it was found. Meanwhile, the family is still camped out in the neighborhood.
"It's not home, but it's good. I mean it's dry, basically, it's out of the sun," Sykes said. But on a rainy Thursday in Putnam County, water poured through the cracks of a tent donated by a funeral home. The fire department donated a propane tank to keep them warm on cool nights and the family is taking shifts sleeping on mattresses.

SATSUMA, Fla. -- The father of missing Putnam County girl Haleigh Cummings had little comment to the media during a news conference Thursday regarding the questioning of his girlfriend, Misty Croslin.
Croslin, 17, was put in a deputy's car to be taken in for questioning earlier Thursday.
When probed by reporters about how he felt about his girlfriend's story and if he had suspicions that she hurt his 5-year-old, father Ronald Cummings repeatedly said he was not a detective. He said those type of questions should be directed to detectives.
"I just want the truth. I just want my daughter home. I don't have any suspicions of anybody. Anybody could've done something. I believe Misty is telling the truth," Ronald Cummings said.
Just as the public heard from George and Cindy Anthony, the grandparents of once missing and now deceased toddler Caylee Anthony, Cummings pleaded with reporters and the community to focus solely on his daughter and bringing her home safely. "We need to focus on my daughter going missing, not what's going on in my life besides my daughter going missing," Cummings said

Today's Updates
1:19 p.m. Haleigh Cummings' father made another public plea during a news briefing today in hopes of finding the missing 5-year-old. When asked by reporters whether he had a message for the person who has his daughter, Ronald Cummings said: "I would ask that you please, please bring my daughter back. She's not yours."
They are following up on it," Putnam sheriff's Capt. Dick Schauland said during a news conference.

Ronald Cummings also said he doesn't suspect his 17-year-old girlfriend did anything wrong the night Haleigh disappeared.
"I don't have any suspicions of anybody," Cummings said. "Obviously, if I knew what was going on, I would have my daughter."
Cummings became defensive when asked questions about his background, reports that he had a fight with a cousin over a gun, and other events in the days before Haleigh disappeared.
"It's about my daughter gone missing, not what's going on in my life," Cummings said. "People say a lot of things and they don't know what they're talking about."

Sheriff Jeff Hardy said that the sheriff's department arrested a sexual predator, Timothy Loucakis. He said Loucakis has not been tied to the disappearance of Haleigh Cummings, but he does live near her Satsuma home. Loucakis is monitored by GPS.
Meanwhile, Haleigh's father had little comment to the media during a family news conference earlier Thursday regarding the questioning of his girlfriend, Misty Croslin.
A recent tip in the investigation suggested that Croslin was not home when Haleigh disappeared. Croslin told police she put Haleigh to bed the night before she went missing and was home the entire time. Haleigh's paternal great grandmother said the tip is not true. Croslin, 17, was put in a deputy's car to be taken in for questioning earlier Thursday. Hardy said Croslin was not arrested.

Updated: Sheriff: Arrested Sex Offender Not Linked To Haleigh
Thursday, February 19, 2009 – updated: 6:42 pm EST February 19, 2009
<snipped>
The Putnam County Sheriff's Office held a press conference Thursday afternoon to announce that a sex offender, who lives within a mile of Haleigh Cumming's home, was arrested, but said the arrest is not in connection with the 5-year-old's disappearance.
"I'm not going to excluded anybody from being not involved," Putnam County Sheriff Jeff Hardy said.
Sheriff Jeff Hardy said an arrest was made of 50-year-old Timothy Randolph Loucakis, a sex offender who lives near the home Haleigh disappeared from. When asked, he said the press conference was called because inquiries were being made about the arrest and, while they don't believe Loucakis to be connected to the disappearance, they wanted to get the information out.
Hardy said Loucakis was arrested Wednesday night after violating the restrictions of his "home zone." Loucakis is under GPS monitoring and law enforcement was informed that he was not at his own home during the 10:00pm-6:00am curfew window as required. Hardy said they do know where he was, due to the GPS monitor, and they plan to do a precautionary search of that area.
Hardy also said Loucakis was the first sex offender in the area interviewed immediately after Haleigh's disappearance and said his home was searched.

Timothy Randolph Loucakis, 50, was charged with violating the terms of his probation after officials said he was not home at 10 p.m. Wednesday night, which violated his curfew. "We know where he was, by GPS, and we do have a team going down to that area just to do a preliminary search of that area," Hardy said Thursday afternoon. Hardy said Loucakis was interviewed two hours after Haleigh was reported missing early the morning of Feb. 10. Deputies searched his home and checked his GPS monitoring bracelet, which showed he had not left his "home zone" during the time Haleigh disappeared.
Hardy also confirmed Thursday that detectives received unconfirmed sightings of Haleigh in Tennessee and they have questioned a Tennessee relative of Misty Croslin -- the girlfriend of Haleigh's father who was the last person to see the 5-year-old.
"We're questioning a lot of people," Hardy said. "We have polygraphs going on as we speak." Croslin herself was brought to the sheriff's office for additional questioning on Thursday, but Hardy said her interveiw was routine and she will be returned to her home later in the day. On Wednesday, Cummings and Crystal Sheffield, Haleigh's mother, were each brought to the sheriff's office for interviews.

JACKSONVILLE, FL -- With the Haleigh Cummings Amber Alert status creating a nationwide lookout, there are reports of a search this past weekend in Knoxville, Tennessee. The Tennessee Highway Patrol confirms that a man with a little girl who looked like Haleigh Cummings was spotted outside a Carrabba's restaurant in East Knoxville on Sunday afternoon. The Highway Patrol quickly canvassed the area in a search that resulted in no findings.
More witnesses came forward saying the man, who was white, walked while shielding the face of a girl who looked like Haleigh. The two got into a red Toyota RAV4 with Florida license plates and drove off. The Tennessee Highway Patrol has no further comment and can't confirm that the girl was actually Haleigh Cummings.

Thursday afternoon, Ronald Cummings, the missing girl’s father, held an impromptu news briefing and urged people and the media not make this ordeal about the family. It’s about finding his daughter, the 25-year-old said.
He didn’t specify the Times-Union report that detailed the family’s background, including drug arrests and custody issues, and the interview with his girlfriend. Cummings also said he doesn’t have any enemies.
Standing with his mother, Cummings gave thanks to all that the community and law enforcement have done.
“Please bring my daughter home,” he repeated, wearing a black hat with the letters G.A.P. for God Answers Prayers.
He also said he doesn’t know anything about a fight with a visiting cousin over a gun, mentioned by Croslin in the interview. Sheriff Jeff Hardy confirmed that Coslin’s relative had been in town and is now home in Tennessee. He said his office has been in contact with the relative but he couldn’t elaborate.

Investigators Question Relative of Misti Croslin in Tennessee

PUTNAM COUNTY, FL -- Following tips on a possible Haleigh sighting in Tennessee, the Putnam County Sheriff's Office has questions for someone who lives there. He is a relative of Misti Croslin, the girlfriend of Haleigh's father and the last known person who saw the child the night she disappeared.
Sheriff Jeff Hardy will not say how Misti Croslin and the person in Tennessee are related, or if that person is a sex offender.
"My feeling all along, Haleigh is not in this area. I've been adamant about it. I know she's out of state somewhere. Don't ask me how I know, it is right here in my gut," Haleigh's grandmother, Marie Griffis, told First Coast News reporter Lindy Thackston at a vigil Thursday night. The family has held the vigil every night since Haleigh disappeared.
"Everybody tells me, well a sexual offender done this. I just don't feel that. Whoever has her knows her, " Griffis said.

PALATKA, Fla. -- The paternal grandmother and aunt of missing Putnam County girl Haleigh Cummings held a news conference Friday afternoon.
The child's paternal grandmother, Teresa Neves, once again pleaded with whoever has her granddaughter to return her safely. "I feel like my grandbaby is alive. I pray that whoever has her that they are feeding her and taking care of her," Neves said.
WESH 2 News confirmed Thursday that Haleigh's father's girlfriend, Misty Croslin, had a cousin, Joe, visiting from Tennessee the day Haleigh disappeared. Neves said during Friday's news conference that she has never met the cousin, but she has heard nothing good about him and does not trust him. Croslin appeared on the 'Today' show Friday, and did not speak highly of her cousin either. "He's a criminal, pretty much. He's been in trouble his whole life," she said. "I don't trust him. No, I don't."
Also, during another round of questioning of Misty Croslin, who is Haleigh's father's girlfriend, the teenager said she was home when the girl disappeared. Detectives wouldn't say much about a car they processed or what prompted a second round of questioning of Croslin.
During a news conference held Friday afternoon by the Putnam County Sheriff's Office, officials said another $4,000 has been added to the reward for Haleigh's safe return, bringing the total to $20,000.
Florida Department of Law Enforcement special agent Dominick Pape said all relatives have been interviewed in the case, and Joe is a relative. He said it wasn't fair to go into further detail.

PUTNAM COUNTY, Fla. -- PUTNAM COUNTY, Fla. -- The Putnam County Sherriff's Office says that the FBI is investigating Misty Croslin's cousin. Eyewitness News learned Thursday that Misty Croslin's cousin, known as "Joe" was in town the night Haleigh disappeared.
There are now questions about what role Joe may have played in the disappearance. After the little girl vanished, he took off to Tennessee
WFTV reporter Mark Boyle briefly spoke with Misty Croslin about her cousin.
"You said you don't trust him, why?" asked Boyle.
"I just don't trust him," she said. "He's gotten into a lot of trouble."
Eyewitness News has confirmed that a woman called 911 in Knoxville, Tennessee a few days ago to report a possible Haliegh sighting. The woman told police she saw a man shielding a little girl's face who looked like Haleigh while getting into an SUV.
There were also reports that Croslin's cousin and Haleigh's father, Ronald Cummings, got into some type of argument hours before the 5-year-old disappeared. Eyewitness News asked Cummings about the reported argument.
"There was no fight with a cousin over a gun. I don't know where people are getting their information from, but people say a lot of things and they don't always know what they are talking about," he said.

2:36 The Putnam County Sheriff's Office is releasing little information about "Joe," Misty Croslin's relative who she and Haleigh Cummings' family members said was in Satsuma around the time Haleigh vanished. But it is disputing rumors that he is a pedophile. "As far as we know, he is not a sex offender," said Lt. Johnny Greenwood of the Putnam County Sheriff's Office. Greenwood also confirmed that investigators spoke to Joe at his home in Tennessee but would not release other details, including his last name, where he lives in Tennessee and whether he was in Satsuma recently.
1:26 Haleigh's grandmother and aunt said they have heard reports that a cousin of Misty Croslin's might be a pedophile, but they haven't received any definitive information to that effect. At a televised news conference, Teresa Neves, Haleigh's paternal grandmother, said she never met the cousin, who she thinks is named Joe and lives in Tennessee.
In recent days, rumors have circulated about a relative of Croslin's who was in Satsuma at the time of Haleigh's disappearance, but has since return to Tennessee, and officials with the Putnam County Sheriff's Office have confirmed that they have spoken with the man. Today Show host Matt Lauer asked Croslin, 17, if she thought the relative had anything to do with Haleigh's disappearance.
"I really don't know, I don't know if he did or not," Croslin said. "That's an interesting way to answer the question," Lauer responded. "I think that a lot of people might say that, 'No I'm positive that person had nothing to do with Haleigh.'" "I'm not quite sure at all. No . . . He's a criminal pretty much, he's been in trouble his whole life. I don't trust him," Croslin replied, adding that she hasn't spoken to the relative since he left Satsuma.

Girlfriend of Haleigh’s dad asserts: ‘I was home’
But Misty Croslin won’t rule out unidentified relative in girl’s disappearance

Among the 1,300 tips collected by investigators was one possible sighting of Haleigh in a car with an adult male and female in Knoxville, Tenn. Police in Knoxville have interviewed the relative Croslin spoke of, but on Friday she told TODAY’s Matt Lauer that she was not convinced the man was not involved in Haleigh’s disappearance.
Croslin did not identify the man, nor did she say what her relationship to him is. She is the last person to have seen Haleigh, and she is the person who reported her missing. Inconsistencies have been pointed out in the story she has told investigators, although Croslin has reportedly passed a polygraph test.
Croslin was joined by Haleigh’s paternal grandmother, Teresa Neves. Both stood in front of a large tent in which the family is living because Cummings’ house has been sealed off as a crime scene. Croslin had pictures of Haleigh attached to her jacket, while Neves held a large photo of the girl, showing her blond curls and a distinctive smudgelike birthmark on her left cheek near her ear.
Neves has been supportive of Croslin, but Neves told Lauer she does not object to police questioning the young woman again. “I want the detectives to find my granddaughter. I do not care who they question. We are all available for questioning. All we want is for Haleigh to come home.”

UPDATED: New Searches, Larger Reward In Hunt For Haleigh
Reward Increased To $20,000 For Information About Haleigh's Whereabouts

SATSUMA, Fla. -- Neither that search, a result of a lead, nor a search conducted of the area where a sex offender visited after his curfew turned up anything useful, Putnam County Sheriff's Office Capt. Dick Schauland said Friday afternoon. Investigators would not provide any specifics about either a possible sighting of Haleigh outside a Tennessee restaurant or interviews with a cousin of Misty Croslin -- the 17-year-old girlfriend of Haleigh's father and the last person to see the 5-year-old. Family members told Channel 4 that a relative named Joe visited the Cummings' home and left hours before Haleigh disappeared.
The only major announcement at Friday's news briefing was that the reward was increased by $4,000. "That brings the reward to $20,000 for any information regarding Haleigh's whereabouts and/or the conviction of the perpetrator of any crimes involving her," Schauland said.
Mother Pleads For 5-Year-Old's Return
With 11 days passing and no work on Haleigh, her mother said it feels like "her heart is being ripped out."
Thursday evening, both of the missing child's parents, Ronald Cummings and Crystal Sheffield, spoke out and asked for their little girl's safe return.
Haleigh's parents stood close to each other at the evening's candlelight vigil, praying for their missing daughter. They said they are not giving up on Haleigh.

Tip Leads To New Search For Haleigh Cummings
Friday, February 20, 2009 – updated: 12:50 pm EST February 20, 2009

PUTNAM COUNTY, Fla. -- A new tip led to a new ground search for missing 5-year-old Haleigh Cummings Friday and an army of deputies searched a wooded area just a few hundred yards from her home.
Putnam County sheriff's deputies stopped all physical ground searches for Haleigh Cummings last Monday, but Friday morning Eyewitness News found a search team in Satsuma in a parking lot and followed behind them.
The tip that led law enforcement to the wooded area came in overnight. Officers from all over, including Flagler County Fire Rescue, showed up early Friday morning to begin the search. There were more than 70 searchers, some with walking sticks. Eyewitness News was the only TV news crew in the woods when the search began.
"We're going to move to the north, which will be to our right all the way down this road, double arms length apart. The go signal is going to be 'move,'" the search leader announced.
The group met briefly Friday morning and then lined up on a dirt road.

SATSUMA -- Haleigh's grandmother said she has a gut feeling her grandadaughter is alive. At a 1 p.m. press conference, Teresa Neves pleaded for the missing 5-year-old's safe return.
Knoxville, Tenn.'s WVLT reported Putnam County Sheriff's investigators said they questioned a Tennessee man about Haleigh's disappearance. The unnamed man is Misty Croslin's cousin, who family members said was in Putnam County visiting Croslin days before Haleigh disappeared.
Meanwhile, at a 3 p.m. press conference, deputies announced the reward has increased to $20,000.
Flagler County Joins Search
The Flagler County Sheriff’s Office has joined in the search for Haleigh.
The Daytona Beach News-Journal reported Flagler officials said search efforts may have resumed because new information may have surfaced in the case.

SATSUMA, FL -- Speaking to the media on behalf of her son Ronald Cummings, Teresa Neves reiterated the main concern of all of Haleigh Cummings' family: "We want our Haleigh home safe."
Neves said in an afternoon news conference how much she appreciates "everything everybody's doing for us."
Asked about the reports coming from Tennessee that authorities are questioning a relative of Ronald Cummings' girlfriend, Misty Croslin, Cummings' sister echoed something Misty had said earlier: "We don't (trust him) either."
Authorities are still working that angle.

PALATKA, FL -- As the search for Haleigh Cummings continues with little new information coming in, the reward for finding the missing 5-year-old has increased.
Capt. Dick Schauland with the Putnam County Sheriff's Office didn't say who provided the new money, but the total reward now stands at $20,000. The biggest news from the search is that two crews have spent the day following up on recent leads.
One is south of Satsuma, and Schauland indicated that search was not turning up anything.
The other is related to yesterday's arrest of sexual predator Timothy Loucakis. Schauland said investigators are "thoroughly convinced that he was not involved in this," but that they would be remiss if they didn't follow up completely.
Misty Croslin, the girlfriend of Haleigh's father Ronald Cummings, earlier said a relative of hers in Tennessee who is being questioned has a criminal record and she doesn't trust him. Ronald's sister echoed that sentiment Friday morning, but Florida Department of Law Enforcement Special Agent Dominick Pape wouldn't go that far.
He said investigators had spoken to "Joe" in Tennessee, but added that they are not trying to embarrass any family members and wouldn't say whether or not "Joe" was a person of interest.

As for the new details, family members said Haleigh has two brown birth marks: the larger one is on her left cheek bone and a smaller on is on the right side of her face, just above the jaw. Also, she has strawberry blond hair with hints of red in it, not just blond hair. Family members said her fingers and toes are chubbier than those of other children her size and age, and her left eye is a "lazy eye."

"Law enforcement does not want to embarrass any relatives in this investigation," Pape said. "The real story is the rescovery of Haleigh."
Law enforcement officers, including nine deputies and two K-9 units from Marion County, searched two areas on Friday, following up on leads.

The Sheriff's department would not reveal what kind of relative the man is to Croslin. Haleigh's paternal grandmother, Teresa Neves, said Croslin's cousin visited Putnam County days before Haleigh's disappearance. Neves said the cousin and Haleigh's dad, Ronald Cummings, got into a fight about a gun during that visit. She also said the cousin left town the same day Haleigh disappeared. In a televised press conference Friday afternoon, the paternal grandmother of a missing 5-year-old Putnam County girl discussed a man from Tennessee named "Joe" - a cousin of her son's girlfriend - who had been at the mobile home where the girl lived.
Putnam County Sheriff Jeff Hardy acknowledged Thursday that investigators have been in touch with this relative of Misty Croslin's out of Tennessee who apparently had been visiting her. "You trust your friends and family to bring in people you can trust," Neves said. Channel 4 WJXT news reported that family members said the cousin visited the home and on Monday and left hours before Haleigh disappeared.

Misty Croslin, 17, was at the Putnam County Sheriff's Office and would be returning home, said Sheriff Jeff Hardy during a press conference Thursday afternoon. Hardy wouldn't discuss why Croslin was with officers, except that investigators continue to re-interview people and conduct polygraphs in the case of missing Haleigh Ann-Marie Cummings.
Much of the attention, however, has been focused this week on Croslin and her version of events that night. Officers confirmed they had received a tip that Croslin was not at home with Haleigh and her brother when she said she was.

SATSUMA - Ronald Cummings Jr. will turn 4 years old Sunday, a birthday his family isn't sure they'll remind him about.
Valentine's Day may not mean much to a tyke like him, but today's holiday arrived early Friday morning with someone from his sister's school dropping off candy and gifts from her classmates.
"We love you Haleigh," said a card all her kindergarten classmates signed.
But how do you explain to a little boy why his 5-year-old sister wasn't home to get the gifts? How do you tell him that police suspect someone abducted Haleigh Ann-Marie Cummings while the siblings were supposed to be snug in bed?
"When he's here by himself, he's a little bit lonely," his paternal grandmother, Teresa Neves, said Friday of the little boy their family calls "Junior."
"We just tell him that Haleigh's not here right now. We're not going to do doom and gloom."

Family Holds Vigil, Prays For Haleigh For 11th Night
POSTED: Friday, February 20, 2009

PUTNAM COUNTY, Fla. -- For the 11th straight evening, family members and friends of missing 5-year-old Haleigh Cummings came together to hold a candlelight vigil and pray for the child's safe return home.
For the past week and a half, it seems coming together with other people who love and miss Haleigh has been helping the family get through the tough time.
Friday night's cold temperatures didn't stop Haleigh's loved ones from coming together for their nightly vigil. Ronald Cummings and his girlfriend, Misty Croslin, stood side by side as they prayed.
Earlier in the day on Friday, a tip led detectives into some woods south of Satsuma. Neither that search, a result of a lead, nor a search conducted of the area where a sex offender visited after his curfew turned up anything useful, Putnam County Sheriff's Office Capt. Dick Schauland said Friday afternoon.
Police said that like Haleigh's family, they too are frustrated but not discouraged. They said they would continue to search and follow up on leads until the girl is found.
Some of Haleigh's family members and friends made new posters to be put up around the state until their little girl is brought home.

Few leads in search to find Haleigh
The fanfare dies down, but hope still remains that she will be found alive.

Signs, photos and prayers can still be seen throughout the town, but the search process is beginning to exhaust the community. Yet there’s still hope. He said police conducted two searches in Putnam County on Thursday — one about 200 yards south of Satsuma on U.S. 17 and the other in the area of a sexual predator arrested Wednesday for breaking curfew. Neither search produced positive results.
Misty Croslin, the 17-year-old girlfriend of Haleigh’s father, said she had a cousin visiting from Tennessee for two weeks. Teresa Neves, Haleigh’s grandmother, said on Friday that the cousin tried to steal a gun from the Cummings’ home, leading to an argument between him and Croslin. The cousin left the home and returned to Tennessee the same morning Haleigh went missing.
“I felt like he was someone worth looking into, so I told the investigators,” Neves said. “He’s not part of my family. I don’t even know his name. But I hope that was her [in Tennessee], at least I would know she was eating well.” Police confirmed that Croslin’s relative was in town and is now back in Tennessee, but wouldn’t say whether he was suspect. Croslin said the man “messed with her” as a child, but didn’t think he was listed as a sex offender. “If we would have had any idea, he wouldn’t have been around Haleigh,” Neves said. “He did not carry a sign saying ‘I’m a sexual offender, I’m going to steal your child.’ He came to our home as a relative.”

SATSUMA, FL -- Almost two weeks after young Haleigh Cummings disappeared, the national focus remains strong.
On the Today Show on NBC, Matt Lauer questioned Misty Croslin about her cousin in Tennessee. Croslin said she didn't know much about him, but wondered about him because of a criminal past.
In Satsuma, both sides of the family taped an appearance for Nancy Grace on CNN.
"Until she's home. It's hard, but until she's home I'm gonna do it," says Haleigh's mom, Crystal Sheffield.
A mile down the street, at Ronald Cummings camp, a camper was donated by a couple from Volusia County. They saw their makeshift tent on the news and drove a camper they aren't using to the family Friday night.

Haleigh Cummings is Missing: The Misty Croslin Connection
Speculation Runs Wild, but Everything Seems to Connect to Misty Croslin
February 20, 2009
<snipped>
There are always those moments in an investigation where something does not seem quite right. Often some tell-tale sign, something unobtrusive, begins to nag at one's thoughts. Such is the case with the Haleigh Cummings abduction. The Putnam County Sheriff's Office has interviewed her multiple times. This, of course, is only normal since she was the last person to see Haleigh Cummings before the 5-year-old disappeared. But her stories are inconsistent. They have been from the start.
Fox News and "America's Most Wanted" correspondent Michelle Sigona have reported that several people have told investigators that they saw Misty Croslin out in the neighborhood that night, that she was not at the mobile home the entire time that night.
What does any of this mean? Perhaps nothing. Perhaps something that might be damaging to Misty Croslin, but not especially helpful to the investigation. Or perhaps something not so damaging to Croslin but something she does not want to mention for an unknown reason. Or perhaps it is something both damning to Croslin and helpful to the investigation.
Of course, everything Misty Croslin has said publicly and to the police might be truthful (barring a few discrepancies that could be the result of nervousness or misremembrances). Which only makes the story of Haleigh Cummings' disappearance / abduction even more mysterious. But not implausible. And certainly not impossible.

Amber Alert -- Search For Haleigh Intensifies
Saturday, February 21, 2009 6:39:31 AM

SATSUMA -- The search is intensifying for the 5-year-old Putnam County girl who mysteriously vanished from her home one week ago.
On Friday, dozens of law enforcement personnel looked in the woods south of the mobile home where the girl lived. Investigators won't say exactly what they're looking for, only that they continue to follow up on all tips they are getting in the case.
Croslin is the girlfriend of Haleigh's father Ronald Cummings. Investigators said Croslin's cousin, who may be a sex offender, was in Central Florida visiting when Haleigh disappeared. However, investigators aren't commenting on this either.

Amber Alert -- Search For Haleigh Draws 1600 Leads
Saturday, February 21, 2009 4:25:38 PM
<snipped>
At a 3 p.m. press conference Saturday, Putnam County investigators said they've received more than 1600 leads and law enforcement officials have put in 4,786 man hours in the search for Haleigh Cummings. However, investigators said they’re not any closer to knowing where Haleigh is.
Investigators also said there are no ground searched planned for Sunday.
“As far as the cousin, I mean, Ronald wants Haleigh home and he doesn't care who has her, how they got her, he wants her home. You know, if it's the cousin, then we hope they lock him up," said Teresa Neves, Haleigh’s grandmother.
The reward for information has now been increased to $20,000.

SATSUMA, FL -- While investigators are taking the weekend off from searching for Haleigh Cummings, a small group of volunteers searched the area around the little girl's home today.
About 15 people spent the day walking through the wooded area near the little girl's mobile home. In the meantime, Haleigh's family continues to wait for any information from law enforcement.
"It's a lot of family support. It's a lot of community support," says Haleigh's grandmother, Teresa Neves. "It's all up to God - I know that he's keeping my baby safe out there somewhere."
When asked about Misty Croslin's cousin, "Joe" in Tennessee, Neves tolf First Coast News that she does't know him.
Croslin, the girlfriend of Haleigh's father, said earlier that she doesn't trust her cousin. He is being questioned by law enforcement officials and has a criminal record.
"If his cousin doesn't trust him - that doesn't makes me feel good," said Neves.

PUTNAM COUNTY, FL -- The relative of Misty Croslin who investigators had been questioning in Tennessee is not a suspect in Haleigh Cummings' disappearance.
Captain Dick Schauland didn't have much new information to release in Saturday afternoon's press conference, but when asked point-blank about whether the man known as 'Joe' in Tennessee was a suspect or person of interest, Schauland said he wasn't.
Misty had previously said that man was someone she didn't trust and that he had visited shortly before Haleigh disappeared.
Investigators are no longer conducting ground searches. They are following up on the more than 1600 tips that have poured in.
It's been 12 days since five-year-old Haleigh Cummings disappeared.

No new developments in the search for Haleigh

Investigators searching for missing five-year-old Haleigh Cummings spent today following up on some of the 1,600-plus leads they have received since the little girl disappeared 12 days ago.
There was no ground search Saturday. On Friday, about 140 law enforcement officers, acting on tips, searched two new areas, but found nothing pertinent to the investigation.
Since Haleigh disappeared, the Putnam County Sheriff's Office has devoted 4,786 man-hours to searching for Haleigh and 1,626 man-hours investigating leads. Seventeen detectives are assigned to the case, 5 of them full-time, according to Lt. Johnny Greenwood of the Putnam County Sheriff's Office.

Capt. Dick Schauland of the Putnam County Sheriff's Office told reporters during an afternoon briefing that the man, a cousin of Haleigh's father's girlfriend, was interviewed after detectives learned of him early in the investigation and was subsequently ruled out.
The man left Florida after trying to steal a gun from the Cummings home, according to Haleigh's grandmother. Schauland wouldn't identify the man.
"He is family, and we don't want to embarrass family members in any way," Schauland said.
Police had declined before today to say whether Croslin's cousin was a suspect. He had been visiting for two weeks, but he and Croslin argued after he tried to steal a gun from the home, Haleigh's grandmother said Friday. She said she told investigators about him.
The cousin left the same morning Haleigh disappeared.
Croslin said Friday the man "messed with her" as a child but she didn't think he was listed as a sex offender.
Schauland said detectives are considering every tip.
"Some of them end up nowhere, but they have to be run down nonetheless because you never know when the one that's going to solve the case will come up," he said.

Members of the Christian Motorcycle Association based in Putnam County also stopped by to pray with family members for Haleigh’s return.
“We’re just here to lend support,” said member Barbara Rains. “We want to pray with them.”
Barbie Squires, Haleigh’s paternal great-grandmother, said the family plans to remain camped at the site as long as the property owner allows it or until Haleigh is found.
Squires said the ordeal is wearing on the family, including Haleigh’s 4-year-old brother Ronnie Jr., who was also in the house when family members say Haleigh disappeared.
“He’s not doing well at all. He realizes what’s going on,” Squires said. “Today he went

Saturday afternoon there was no ground search conducted. There will not be a press conference held on Sunday.
A former FBI profiler said the search for Haleigh is a two-track investigation.
Appearing on the "Today" show Saturday morning, Clint Van Zandt said track one is taking investigators outside of the house and looking into whether a stranger took Haleigh. But Van Zandt said track two is keeping authorities inside the house.
"One family member said a fight had taken place between Ron, the biological father, and Joe, the cousin, where Ron says, 'No, that didn't take place,'" Van Zandt said. "Evidently a gun disappeared from the house and it was found in a ditch later."
Van Zandt said, typically, investigators try to rule out immediate family as suspects first before branching outside of the home. But he said, in this case, it appears that authorities are looking at both at the same time.

Missing Florida Girl's Dad: I 'Never' Hit My Child
Sunday, February 22, 2009
<snipped>
In a contentious, exclusive interview outside his Florida home, Ronald Cummings, the father of missing 5-year-old Haleigh Cummings, blasted new abuse allegations and told FOX News "never, ever have I ever hit my child."
Cummings also condemned new allegations that he hit Haleigh's mom Crystal while she was pregnant, saying friends and family members making the accusations are 'absolutely lying' and threatening criminal charges against them.
Responding to sources that told Rivera Cummings had told them he was 75 percent sure who kidnapped Haleigh, the missing girl's father said, "There is no way — I do not know who took Haleigh. If I had — if I had, uh, five percent of where Haleigh was at, I would be there now and not here."
Sheffield told FOX News on Saturday that Ronald Cummings had been abusive to her when she first got pregnant.
"He punched me in the back of the head and before then, he was verbal," she said. "I mean he was just very abusive."
Sheffield also said she was told by her cousin of an incident where Cummings apparently hit Haleigh after the child bumped into him or smarted off to him.
"She said he just backhanded her. And she fell flat on her face on the porch," Sheffield said.
The family has been at the center of investigations done by the state child welfare agency, but details of those cases haven't been disclosed because of confidentiality laws.
Neves said her son would never hurt Haleigh and pleaded Friday for her granddaughter's kidnapper to bring her home.
"I want to say to my baby, we love you sweetheart, and we will find you," she said through tears.

Haleigh Cummings Disappearance Investigated by Geraldo Rivera
Missing Florida Girl's Mother Says Haleigh's Father Abusive
<snipped>
Let me say first that if appearances are to be believed, Ronald Cummings, Crystal Sheffield and Misty Croslin are or have been drug and/or alcohol abusers. Ronald Cummings is heard on the 911 tape calling Misty a "*****." Misty is never seen without a cigarette and her defensive arrogance is just shocking considering this situation. Sheffield has pulled herself together over the past week, but her initial appearances suggested that she may have been a recovering drug user.
Ronald Cummings has custody of his two children by Crystal Sheffield. Why? Evidently because Sheffield had used cocaine the year before, and because the missing Florida girl had allegedly missed a dozen doctor appointments while in Sheffield's custody. Haleigh is reported to have Turner's Syndrome.
Crystal Sheffield and Griffis told Geraldo that Ronald Cummings is violent and uses drugs. Sheffield claims that Cummings punched her in the head when she was pregnant, and called her foul names. She admitted that they used cocaine and methamphetamines, but said she quit when she learned she was pregnant. Cummings' own mother and grandmother said they didn't know why Sheffield stayed with him, according to Sheffield. She said she went back to Cummings a couple of times so she could be with the children, but couldn't take the abuse and left.
Sheffield's cousin claims that she saw Cummings backhand Haleigh during a visit one time, causing Haleigh to fall flat on the floor. Sheffield says that she knows Cummings loves Haleigh, but that if he lost his temper, he was capable of hurting her.
Crystal Sheffield said that Chad Griffis, her fiance, claims that within hours of Haleigh's disappearance, Ronald Cummings told him and another man named Marcus that he's "75% sure he knows where Haleigh is." And finally, Sheffield says she "knows Ronnie," and when he is shown crying on TV, that he's faking it.
Ronald Cummings is rumored to have connections to the drug world, and it was suggested he may have been a drug informant. His legal background includes an ongoing custody dispute, drug use and brushes with the law, according to court records. Geraldo Rivera approached him with questions about Crystal Sheffield's allegations.
Ronald Cummings denies every allegation made by Crystal Sheffield, her friends and family. He claims he never hit Crystal when she was pregnant, never hit Haleigh other than spanking on the bottom, which he says is okayed by child services, and that Chad is lying about his statement that he was "75% sure" he knew where Haleigh was. He denies drug use or association with drug dealers or being a drug informant.
Is the media here to help find Haleigh? Or are they just after another Story? You decide as we go behind the scenes in Satsuma, Florida where a live taping of Geraldo at Large is going on.

Fox anchor banned from camp of missing girl's father
Geraldo Rivera was issued a trespass warning on Saturday
Story updated at 11:54 AM on Sunday, Feb. 22, 2009

Fox News anchor Geraldo Rivera was issued a trespass warning after a contentious interview with the father of a missing Putnam County girl.
As the search for 5-year-old Haleigh Cummings entered its 13th day, the county was abuzz about the contentious interview with her father Saturday night with Rivera.
Cummings got upset when Rivera said he'd been told by members of Haleigh's mother's family that Cummings hit the child and has said he is 75 percent sure he knows who has her.
Putnam County Sheriff’s deputies arrived on the scene later, and issued Rivera the trespass warning at the request of the two property owners on whose land the Cummings family is camping while their trailer remains closed off as a crime scene.
A trespass warning means Rivera would be arrested if he came back onto the property. Rivera told deputies he understood and stated he would not come back to the address, but declined to sign the trespass warning, according to a sheriff’s office report.

SATSUMA, Fla. -- Investigators said on Sunday that they're whittling through more than 1,600 leads received since 5-year-old Haleigh Cummings disappeared two weeks ago. About 140 officers searched two areas on Friday, acting on tips, but found nothing pertinent to the investigation. There was no ground search on Saturday.
Meanwhile, the family said a Web site hoax is putting a wrench in the search for Haleigh.
Her family said someone created a fake Web site in an effort to collect money.
Family members said the Web site is not affiliated with them or the police.
The Web site also has Haleigh's name misspelled.
"We are sickened by anybody that would take something that is heart-sickening for our family and try to profit off of it and then stamp the family's name on it," said Haleigh's step-great grandmother, Barbie Squires.

"You look around and you think people don't care anymore and they don't want to help anymore and you have a tragedy hits you like this and people come out of the woodworks," says Haleigh's grandmother Marie Griffis.
They bring pillows, blankets, tents and chairs, and every day more hot food.
And Sunday night Marie Griffis's coworkers, other Baker County school bus drivers, came to the family vigil to show their support.
Neither Griffis or her daughter, Haleigh's mother Crystal Sheffield, have been able to go home to Baker County now for two weeks.
Griffis says she isn't discouraged that there have been no new developments in the last few days. And she plans to continue on with the vigils every night, for as long as it takes. "We all feel like Haleigh's okay, I guess you could say it's mom's intuition and because she's my maternal grandchild, my close connection with her, I know she's okay. In the pit of my stomach I know she's find, I just don't know where she's at."

Haleigh Cummings' immediate and extended family maintained a vigil outside her Satsuma home Sunday although law enforcement have suspended active ground-searches for the missing the 5-year-old.
A used RV was recently donated for Ronald Cummings, Haleigh's father, to stay in while police continue to treat his mobile home in Satsuma - just south of Palatka - as a crime scene.
"The rest of the family is staying in a tent," said Teresa Neves, Haleigh's paternal grandmother.
"The RV gives my son time to play with his son and to be away from the media," she said.
Capt. Dick Schauland with the Putnam County Sheriff's Office said Sunday afternoon that detectives were still working the case but that there were no new developments.
Law enforcement said they believe Haleigh was abducted from her home sometime on the night of Feb. 9 and were called to the family home at 3 a.m. on Feb. 10.
After several days of extensive ground searches in the woods behind the Cummings' house and boat searches in the nearby St. John's River, authorities are focusing on tips and leads. "We're hanging in there. It's just exhaustion setting in," Neves said on Sunday.

However, it was questions about alleged drug use that pushed Cummings over the edge.

"There's nothing, I do not do drugs," Ronald responded.
"You don't do drugs? What about all those arrests?" asked Rivera. "Do you work for the police, are you an informant?"
