I am starting a thread for Mark. I know he is a long shot, but I have submitted him to the local LE and they are looking into it. I received an email from the detective this morning that says they are still looking at the DNA and doing some research. If the detective gives me permission I will post his entire update.
I have trouble keeping up with Mark because he doesn't have a thread and I always have to go find him
I will try to move the previous posts to this thread if I can figure out how

Good job Salem. It may be longshot, but he could be Ben! Mark does have a young look of BK, IMO.

"I have sent an email to NCMEC regarding Mark. Basically, I asked if Mark had DNA in the database and if so, when it was entered.
When BK's DNA is entered will it show matches on mitochrodia (sp?) DNA? As Mark went missing in 1967, any DNA will be from his mother or siblings, so not an exact match. Will this show up when BK's DNA is run?
AND - I called the Plumas Co. Sheriff's Office to check on the status of Mark's DNA. The detective is going to look into it and email me about what he finds. When he does, I will send him links to BK's info and our website.
I am sorry to have taken so long to get up the nerve to get this done. All is owed to Christine - who gives me confidence :)
Thanks,
Salem"
I missed this, Salem-BK's MtDNA was entered into the databases in Feb 2008. If Mark's is in there it should have come up as a match....Mark's is in there, right??

Yes, Mark's DNA is in the database. I heard from the detective today and he told me that when it is only mitochrondia, then the detective has to ask to have it specifically compared. The detective is working with an FBI agent to have BK's DNA compared to Mark's.
Apparently it takes a bit of time, but the detective updates me about once a month or so to let me know he is still working on it.
Thank you for moving my previous post here. I am working on having the other posts moved here so that we can follow along more easily.
