SATSUMA, FL -- Family members of Ronald Cummings say he got into a fight with another man over a gun one day before his daughter disappeared.
A relative told First Coast News Cummings accused the other man of stealing a gun. The relative could not remember the name of the man or where the fight happened.
The relative said the man disappeared the next day and the gun was found in a ditch.

Been thinking about this since it was posted earlier.
I wonder 1st who this person was
1. Male Cousin
2. The uncle people say Misti was off with for 3 days (maybe RC had a fight with him)
3. A teenager that Misti brought into the house
I have been wodering about the band aid on the back of RC neck too! Did it happen at work, in a fight, or something else.
I don't know what happened to this little girl, but if Misti had nothing to do with it she sure made her self look like it with the changin her stories.

Yep SS - article says "family memberS" plural - so between at least two of them they:
1)can't remember the dude's name
2) can't recall where the fight took place
3) know the gun was found in a ditch
4) didn't say WHAT ditch
5) do know the "dude with no name" disappeared the same day Haleigh did.
hhhmmmm........wonder if his last name is Gonzalez? lol

Hm,wonder if this is the cousin of Misty's and could be why her family is staying out of media.Could it be pacey?He's a cousin who looks like her,for sure.As a matter of fact,Misty said the cousin had taken the gun a couple of weeks ago.Oh my,did he come in house and Haleigh saw him,she could ID him.

I'm bringing this over from the other thread. I'm thinking there really was a cousin that had stayed there as was mentioned in the beginning and that cousin was who was not allowed to contact family, not that Misty was not allowed to contact family....
I'm beginning to think there was a cousin staying at the trailer and that cousin was no longer allowed to contact the family because of the gun theft. And furthermore, this would all fit with the story CR was told by Misty.

Remember in the first interview many of us saw him in yard w/his Mom and they showed close up of his hand?It was tore up,looked like he had been in a fight.Then we wondered if it could be work related,guess we know now.That hand looks like he tore somebody up.Possible cousin came in trailer that night and Misty saw him,oh,the blanket washing is really scaring me.And I swear,she said bleach cleaning,has anyone listened to 911 call with good speakers and earphones?

THAT'S RIGHT!!! I remember that too. At first I thought those knuckles looked like they had been in a fight. I also remember the discussion about what he does. My DH works structural steel - now his hands get torn up but they don't look like "fighting" hands KWIM? It was his knuckles - like when you hit someone in the mouth and their teeth cut up the knuckles.

When I was reading comments before he was in Michigan with family,Misty was trying to get him to come back to Florida.He moves around,maybe he could have been from Daytona and skipped around like Misty,what is with that family?

I put his page up on the links last night, he gives me a very creepy vibe....I dont know what the connection is, but when I saw him and that picture of he and Misty and that blue eyeshadow (lolita) it creeped me out. Hi. Long time lurking coming out of lurkdom. I am so saddened to be talking about another missing child, especially out of Florida. I am in the St Johns County area of Florida which is probably 45 minutes from Putnam County. I was wondering if we know if this gun was recovered by family or by LE.
I am having horrible thoughts of young children in a household were guns most likely were not stored properly. I hate writing this, but could little Haleigh have gotten hold of the gun while Misti was not attending to her? Then someone in her family came to help with coverup. It could explain need for cleaning and washing.
I want nothing more than for her to be found safe and well. I just couldn't get this thought out of my head. What do you all think?

I may be dreaming but I thought that LE took Ron C. gun 'for safe keeping' the night of the 911 call.... but I can't find where I saw it.
If my memory is correct that would me that the gun Ron was speaking of on the 911 call is accounted for leaving the possibility of a different gun that could have been stolen by somebody and left in a ditch. Maybe the mystery cousin that Misty is claiming that visited and stole a gun is the same person that Ron got in a fight with.
Doesn’t get us any closer to who ‘it’ is but then we would know that Ron was telling the truth on the 911 call about having a gun.
Did you all follow that?

I followed it, and I THINK it is the original police report. Yes, I also think there were more than one gun in the trailer/Rons possession, whatever

Sorry, but I feel the need to take a shower after looking at this guy's page. It's just so gross. Do they do anything beyond smoke weed and drink? I see no mention of jobs, school, etc. The girls who latch onto these guys are just as bad. I was looking at "Chelsea's" page - 21 with 2 kids, says she is a "MILF."
The pictures of the little girl disturb me. Who is she? She is surrounded with high, drunk men. There are no mothers/women figures around. Makes me have a sick feeling.

I'm not up on all the ins and outs of gangs but I beleive that the tear drop tatt up by the eye is a gang sign of 'a kill'. You get one for every person you kill. Mayabe someone with a better knowledge of that type of stuff could weigh in on this.

So,cousin and Misty have both been on myspace sites this last few days,is she warning him or having him tell what happened if he's involved?Problem is,he's got friends and relatives from Michigan to Florida to Tennessee,alot of places to hide if he makes it to Tennessee.I haven't seen any pics of them looking for him or on news.So,maybe LE doesn't suspect him?He just turned 18 around feb 4th,so he's an adult now.

I have been looking at Chelsea's pictures. She has an album of recent Haleigh pictures, including some from a memorial-type site. LE should distribute one of these more recent pictures of Haleigh - she looks much older than in the photo I've seen.
This is totally off-topic, but I see this Chelsea says she is pregnant with her 3rd child and she just turned 21. I know it's their business, but I cannot believe how many kids these young ladies all have. It would be very expensive and exhausting I'd think.

To clarify, Chelsea's last comment was 12/2 , the one where she seems to verify "cuz" is coming for a visit at tax time
11/14 is the last time Misty commented on his profile
Comments are one thing, but there is an e mail system through Myspace also, and there is no way to know when e mail communication happened..

Hi Indiana- This is Nutz!
Don't mean to get on my animal rescue soap box..or anything...but, i Really hope that puppy goes to a rescue group, to be cared for until it is OLD enough to be adopted out. And then can we get animal control to check on any other puppies owed by this good samaritan. Besides the fact that we have not determined who is at fault for the disappearanse of a 5 year old. Does anyone want to give them their dog to care for??? no thanks...facts first please...

If you put that 152 Bostwick Cemetery Rd Palatka, FL 32177-8183 address in whitepages.com under reverse look up you get another last name but one of the first names is Kimberly. Wasn't there something on a myspace page about a Kim and a Heather.
Also a James O. also shows up as having an address in Satsuma as well a Palatka but the age is 60. Appears that wife is Vicky. Not sure if this James O. is correct but could be an Uncle, Grandfather or even Father.

I would bet my life that Ron knows the name of the guy who supposedly had a fight with him over the stolen gun and knows a lot more about the situation. Makes me wonder if this isn't the "he" that Ronnie mentioned initially on the 911 call.

Accordoing to the news reports the A/C guy was cleared. I am not sure if that was ever made a point in any of the LE press confernces though. That was by the end of Wed. last week. Fox news had it in one of their articles. I think there is a thread devoted to the Pink shirt. They haven't said much about the shirt that I have heard.

Well, Chad Reynolds comes to mind. He borrowed a car and then left it in an undisclosed location but that was before Haleigh went missing. Nothing saying he didn't boost another car. Pure speculation on my part. Could be just an old junker that someone wanted to dump. Makes you go Hmmm though.

I think this may be the cousin she is referring to though. He is technically old enough to be Brandon's father, though he would be really young at the time. He is more likely an uncle. His crime is 2005, when Misti was 13. Which is what she said isn't?
I don't mean to sound snaryk but from what we have been finding with this case it is certainly possible that the family had more than one cousin who was molesting the girls in the family.

I just took a good look at this overstreet dude - yep he's no stranger to putnam county jail. Most of the charges are for theft, burglary, dealing with stolen property, battery.
IMO he's just a common thief. The SO charge started in 2001 - and one of the listing of charges was interference with custody. IMO he was "pulling a Ron" and dating a youngster. Boy did he pay for it. I just have this feeling that he's just a thieft tho.

If RSO Overstreet is a JR, yes he could very well be Misty's counsin but that still dosen't tell us how Brandon would connect to Misty.
I need to read the rest of the dockets and see if anything is useful. Could this jailbird be Brandon's father?
I did see this in the one arrest record I was looking at in Putnam.

I did a search on there site and nothing shows up. May have been a juvie record.

Wish we know if Lisa was married to a Carman or she was given a family name as a middle name or since Carmen is a spanish female name it just might be her regular middle name.

That what I immediately thought when I heard that he had a fight, ect. I was like "he probably thought that guy came back and took his daughter and THATS why he was screaming about finding the guy (who took Haleigh) and killing him..." It makes sense to me. IMO :crazy:

My husband (whom I am now separated from) also liked his women young.
When he was 21, his first wife was 14 when he met her. Granted, he didn't marry her until she was 18, but he did live with her when she was 16 and he was then 23.
He then proceeded to cheat on her within the year, with hookers, no doubt YOUNG ones, and then their 16 year old babysitter! He then left wife for babysitter, lived with her for 2 years, until babysitter decided to kick him out for an OLDER man. :crazy:
Husband had to stop over the other day, he took one look at Misty and said .. is that his DAUGHTER? I had to laugh :bang:
Also: his nephew had sex with his daughter (cousins) and she got pregnant. She did decide to have an abortion though ... so no child.
My husband's family is VERY alike this family .... and that is allot of the reason we are now separated.

The more I think about this "fight" story, the more it sounds like a cover for a gun that may have been fired. What if Ron was so mad at Misty for not being home or whatever, he shot at her and hit Haleigh instead? This could have happened somewhere other than the house? Or am I reaching? :waitasec:

I don't know maybe I'm wrong in my thinking but maybe if LE had released some of this information like 8 days ago to the general public and it could have gone across the airwaves that Ole Ron here had a fight with this guy and although he might not haave had anything to do with Haleigh missing Ron thinks he may have Haleigh so if anyone knows this Dude and if ya'll see him with this beautiful little blonde child can ya call LE, this might have helped? Yes, I understand this, but it doesn't mean she isn't there. All this means (from what I gather) is that they searched that location, which turned up nothing of significance. I wish they would release more information on this. Did they actually see the suspected child? Was the child gone by the time they got there etc.

Good questions for sure...but none of those answers were provided. You just have to look at what is happening. The whole investigation seems centered around Ron and Misty. I think there is a reason for that. LE know more than we do....

On the first interview we saw Ronald in yard with his Mom,being asked questions and he broke down.At the end of that video,he was holding a cellphone and reporter purposely closed in on his hands,because his right hand was all tore up,his whole hand.So,either it was healing from a previous fight or he had just gotten into one.The only other thing I can think of is he was looking for her and his hand got tore up looking in the woods.

That is the video where Ron says he'd give his life for his little girl's life back. That was such a bizarre statement for him to make. It it's like he knows she is dead. I think he definitely knows something he can't disclose at the time he made this video.
He's a good lookin guy, I know he loves his little girl so much. He's got a job and providing for his family.
But I still feel allot of something that doesn't add up with him behind all those tears. Maybe it is his 'street attitude', and I say that cause I know about his drug involvement before. And the way he talks with his scary expressions - did he call someone a piece of white trash in that video?
What I worry about with a guy like this is if he got her back he would still have that same attitude, as usually it is engrained in a person in their growing up years. Not very stable for any child IMO.

I just don't see the point in one of these cousin guys taking/harming Haleigh. To hurt Ronald? To hurt Misti? I think a 5-yr-old little girl would really cramp the lifestyle of these guys from what we've seen on their myspace pages. It seems like most of them spend their days in a drug-induced haze or boozing. There is no mention of jobs, school, etc. on any of their pages. A little girl would be a real hassle to them -- what do you think is their main reason to take/harm her?

I checked the timeline sticky thread and it isn't any clearer to me than on this thread.
Was the alleged "fight" over the gun alleged to have occurred on Monday? Often referred to as "the day before" Haleigh went missing...yet...would be clearer stated as "the day Haleigh was last seen". Is this correct?
I didn't see any information in this thread suggesting the time of day or location of the alleged fight.
Also didn't see any information specifying the location of the "ditch" in which the gun was found....esp. in relation to the home, etc.

11-14-2007 RC was charged with posession of modern firearm during Muzzleloader (blackpowder) season and trespass. Trespass with a firearm is a FELONY charge in Florida... Funny the trespasss charge was nolle presequi. FFWCC LEO Eason (Ben) would not have made the charge without undoubted proof of the trespass. Also in Florida a property does not have to be posted, etc... to incurr trespass charges. Fencing, planted trees, farming, etc... is proof enough in court to hold the trespass charge.
Unless, it was trespass by projectile. Which is still a felony charge (Firing over a fence, etc.. into another parcel of land that you do not have right to be on) that one has been tough to prove in court.
It is sad that a person with such anger control issues is able to posess a firearm, had he been convicted with the felony trespass then LE would have been able to haul his arse in for posession of a firearm by convicted felon.

Funny the trespasss charge was nolle presequi. FFWCC LEO Eason (Ben) would not have made the charge without undoubted proof of the trespass. Also in Florida a property does not have to be posted, etc... to incurr trespass charges. Fencing, planted trees, farming, etc... is proof enough in court to hold the trespass charge.
Unless, it was trespass by projectile. Which is still a felony charge (Firing over a fence, etc.. into another parcel of land that you do not have right to be on) that one has been tough to prove in court.
It is sad that a person with such anger control issues is able to posess a firearm, had he been convicted with the felony trespass then LE would have been able to haul his arse in for posession of a firearm by convicted felon.
And let's not forget that Ron apparently hit his hand against the backdoor with enough force to make his knuckles bleed when he learned Haleigh had been abducted from the MH.

Coming to work this morning, I heard on the radio (WSKY) MC-C's attorney say Junior had told his mother he woke up because a black man in dark clothing had "squeaky" shoes and he heard "bumping" noises. The announcer then said something about MC-C having "dated" a black man in the recent past. Has anyone heard about this past bf?
In this report I am led to believe Ron Jr woke-up because the man who took Haleigh didn't care about making noise and he was carelessly bumping into things and wearing shoes that squeaked. This report paints a different picture than his report where he says the couch was bouncing LOL! So, if the person made enough noise to wake a child from a sound sleep, why didn't the perp wake Misty too?

A relative told First Coast News Cummings accused the other man of stealing a gun. The relative could not remember the name of the man or where the fight happened.
The relative said the man disappeared the next day and the gun was found in a ditch.

Joe rode down to Florida with a friend named J. Her car and everything have been checked by LE. J was on a planned vacation with a planned leave date. That just happened to be the same day that Haleigh went missing.
Also if I remember correctly, Ron discussed the gun in the culvert incident with Cobra which was recorded.

I think that was TN who told LE about the gun.
Ron stated to Cobra that HE himself put the gun in the culvert at Tommy's house...at least that is what I understood rc to say. He then said he retrieved it, cleaned it and gave it to LE...makes lots of sense, doesn't it? If you were trying to prove that somebody once stole your gun, would you clean it?

Several statements have been made regarding Misty being able to sleep through almost anything. Add that to 3 days of hard partying and you get Misty. I don't know how anyone could consider her a "babysitter" knowing this about her in the first place.

How come we don't know the name of who RC was fighting on the day before (rumored the day of) his daughters disappearance? A gun; argument or physical (?)fight; unknown location of ditch where gun was recovered; who recovered it?; and the OTHER person in the fight is missing;.....seems like all this is related to Haleigh. Is this mystery person alive? Does LE have gun?
RC denies all, of course, Misty and a family member say it is true. I imagine LE is really pressing on this issue.
We need some facts!
I think what Ron is denying is he is saying there wasnt a "physical fight" where blows were exchanged, imo.
Many of us in the south have a habit of substituting the word "fight" for "fuss" or "spat" or "disagreement." Often I hear women say they had a knock down drag out fight with their husband about something but they really mean they got into a heated discussion with them but no blows were exchanged.
I do believe the argument over the gun may turnout to be a trigger to what happened in this case and why.

Sounds like they were talking about Joe.

The relative probably didnt know Joe's name or that he went back to TN when he did.

It is my opinion that at the time Teresa said this on television that she actually didn't know for sure who the "relative" was, because Ron and Misty still hadn't gotten their story straight and weren't sharing their "cover story" with anyone outside of themselves.
Teresa probably didn't even know that Joe was in town at the time she was informed of Haleigh's disappearance. All this "Joe did it" stuff came down waaaaaaaaaay too late to even be credible information.
I do, however, think that Teresa's light-bulb may have gone on since her tv statement many moons ago, and she is just gonna zip her lips so as to not cast any aspersions on her son, yet not destroy whatever credibility she has left by falling into the "Joe did it" brew-ha-ha.

(Oh, btw, I have been clipping and saving local newspaper stories since the late 1980's when I moved to my community where folk's really DO assault each other over food, LOL. If I find the section at WS to post the stories, I will.........they are a hoot!!)

Remember in the first interview many of us saw him in yard w/his Mom and they showed close up of his hand?It was tore up,looked like he had been in a fight.Then we wondered if it could be work related,guess we know now.That hand looks like he tore somebody up.Possible cousin came in trailer that night and Misty saw him,oh,the blanket washing is really scaring me.And I swear,she said bleach cleaning,has anyone listened to 911 call with good speakers and earphones?

We are just recently learning about Tim's auto accident and I do not remember seeing him around during the early events of Haleigh missing. What if Tim is the one Ron got in the fight with? Maybe thats why Tim was on pain meds and they didn't rush over to the trailer when Haleigh came up missing.

Jessigirl, when was this clarified? I'm not doubting you, I just don't remember ever reading or hearing an LE statement to that effect. Nor that they had checked it out and corroborated it.

We need to remind ourselves that this man is a ticking time bomb, and he's exploded in very inappropriate ways in the past. The stories we hear him tell about how he'd just drop a jack on someone's hand if they stole from him, rather than getting a more severe charge of attempted murder, or talking about blowing the back of someone's head out by sticking a gun in her mouth....or or or. It absolutely terrifies me to imagine what his children saw when he was out of control like this.

Really, what door? I didn't see any holes in any doors.. And are you aware a local who used to post here claims Ron C claims he hit his car with his fist when he found out Haleigh was missingand that is why there was a dent in his car and his hand was messed up.. As I see it we have two differenct stories concerning his hand..My bet is neither are true as to WHY his hand was so messed up...
Also, I find it very interesting LE claims he was not able to answer any questions about his daughter because he was so distraught, but he somehow managed to pull himself together to explain to LE the reason his hand was so messed up... Piece of work that guy is...Always CHOA....JMO

Once again, it is how it's retold that matters: LE never confirmed or corroborated the story. LE said that was the story Ron told them. Also, there is on the Cobra tape a passage where Ronald talks about LE taking the doors and replacing them, almost immediately after the disappearance of Haleigh.

He describes the most violent details related to someone stealing things from him. He could be all bluff, I don't have a doubt in my mind he likes to talk tough. What's worrisome is that he also acts on it. He has in the past, he terrorize CJ in the truck a few weeks before Ron and Misty were arrested, it's relayed by both Misty and Crystal that he's physically violent and emotionally abusive, threatening both them and his own safety.
Appearing tough, I don't care. Acting out inappropriately in front of his children, I pay attention. One of those children is now missing and presumed dead, a victim of a homicide, and I have to wonder whether Ron's temper boiled over yet again, after it had boiled over about his gun, after it had boiled over after Misty dared leave him for a few days, and after he had to run willynilly everywhere to get Haleigh to school.

No offense to you personally but this explanation just floors me everytime I hear it! Really, think about it. Imagine if your husband worked nights and you're home with the kids. By no fault of your own, while you're sleeping, somebody comes in and takes one of your children. You wake up to find them gone and when your husband gets home he's pi$$ed at you??! For what? For sleeping at night?! In reality that makes absolutely no sense. The only reason Ronald displayed (performed) this reaction - for this reason - was, once again, purely for affect. If HaLeigh had really been abducted, as Ronald would like us all to believe, he would not have been acting like this toward Misty because she went to bed at ten o'clock and fell asleep! His actions were all an act IMO.

I could see him being pi$$ed at Misty because he knew or he believed that she had done something to her or had been so drugged up that her condition was a contributing factor in whatever happened but the best babysitter ever act doesn't sit well with that scenario. I bet many parents would rather sit on hot coal than lie for, protect, flatter and pamper the person they believe hurt their "heart". If I imagine being in the situation it would feel like I was insulting my missing child if I publicly sucked up to the person I thought had done it, whatever "it" is.

Debs, I thought rc said LE just took the locks...I'll check.
I do recall it being confirmed there was a dent in the door that match rc's handprint...now from everything else LE told us I take that with a large box of salt. We have all seen the doors many times and my eyes have never seen a dent.

A lot of guys hit walls or doors when they are really upset. They usually end up hurting themselves worse then they hurt the wall or door but it does seem to be a guy thing. If my baby girl was missing I might hit a wall or door too. Who can say how anyone would react. And yes, grief can cause us to do things we normally wouldn't do. Seems to me hitting a wall or door is a better thing to do then to hit a person. I don't think that Ron could have done anything right in the eyes of some people no matter what it was. If he had been seen sitting by a brook reading his bible someone would have found something wrong with that too.
