Flagler County helps in search for missing girl

Flagler County officials will send a team to Putnam County today to aid the search for a missing 5-year-old girl.

Special operations deputies from the Flagler County Sheriff's Office, several Flagler County firefighters and officials from Flagler's Emergency Operations Center were called to help look for Haleigh Cummings, officials said Thursday.

Local officials have been helping in the search and investigation periodically since the girl disappeared Feb. 10, sheriff's Maj. Steve Clair said.

Flagler officials said Thursday they believe new information may have surfaced in the case of the missing girl, prompting officials to resume search efforts that were abandoned earlier in the week.
Haleigh vanished from her father's double-wide mobile home outside Satsuma, about 10 miles south of Palatka. Putnam County sheriff's officials said $16,000 in rewards have been offered to help find the girl.

I thought I read in at least one article that the car in TN was a red RAV. And I also heard or read somewhere that the car in custody was a red RAV4. But with LE so tight lipped and the way the media sometimes gets the facts wrong, I don't know how much credence to put to it!

I hear you its almost easier to think of it being a really really bad accident or something at home than of a stranger taking her and doing terrible things to her. Either way its heartbreaking though.

Yesterday LE said they would be searching around the 'area' that Loucakis was found to be in when he broke his probation just as a precaution. They didn't even hint as to where that was.
I guess since they didn't get this help until today and he was arrested yesterday at around noon that that they hopefully didn't wait until today to start searching that particular area and they have since came up with another place to look.
If they have their own people already busy and they received new info they may have just needed this group from Flagler to help them so they can keep searches going in both places.

Did they give Misty another LDT yesterday? If so, then that makes 3 she's taken and it suggests to me that the first two tests were inconclusive. So her statement that they told her she passed the first two, was either to make her feel comfortable enough so that she would relax and let something slip, or they didn't tell her anything about the results the first two times. She didn't look too happy when they were putting her into the detectives' car to take her in for questioning. Methinks they are really putting some pressure on her at this point.

Okay I just finished the video and I am now 99.9% convinced that Misty is telling the truth. The cousin has this child. Good thing the shirt was found. I am hoping they can pull some residual touch DNA from that pink shirt. The perp took it off the child when he took her out of the home. I believe he drove back to Tennessee and Haleigh was disposed off either in Northern Georgia or near the Tennessee boarder. I am also 99.9% certain this perp is Misty's cousin. We have motive, we have access to the home, and we have a pedophile. I wonder if this cousin happened to have made a duplicate key when he visited. I want to know why if he had molested Misty as a child she let him into the home. I want to know how long he stayed and more about him stealing the gun.

Earlier reports said the Sheriff knew where he went when he left his home area because of the GPS and that they would be searching the area just in case. This means to me Loucakis didn't just go to the grocery store or local bar, he was out in an area where there were few people, etc.

I've gotta say here that if LE thought of this "Cousin" as a real suspect they'd have issued a statement identifying him as a POI, issued an arrest warrant, put out an All Points Bulletin, or at least told Misty NOT to talk about him to the press!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Very interesting situation. I think he believes her and is concerned that others don't. In the GVS interview, it was obvious that RC was upset with MC because she couldn't seem to answer the questions. I think when RC and MC are alone, MC is quite convincing, but when she is on camera, not so much. I think RC is having trouble with this. I also think RC is beginning to doubt her and maybe Gma is also. MC is becoming more defiant on camera if ML's interview means anything. What I can't figure out is if MC is just totally nonobservant and doesn't pay attention to any details or if she is just lying. Questioning her reminds me of questioning an 8-10 year old.

The Red Rav4 was seen in East Knoxville, TN being driven by a white man who had a Haleigh-looking girl with him. There is no indication that this car or the people in it have been located. There was an abandoned car in the woods and a car seized by LE (maybe one in the same) No Rav4 was seized. NG got it wrong, wrong, wrong.

PUTNAM COUNTY, Fla. -- A new tip led to a new ground search for missing 5-year-old Haleigh Cummings Friday and an army of deputies searched a wooded area just a few hundred yards from her home.

Putnam County sheriff's deputies stopped all physical ground searches for Haleigh Cummings last Monday, but Friday morning Eyewitness News found a search team in Satsuma in a parking lot and followed behind them.
The tip that led law enforcement to the wooded area came in overnight. Officers from all over, including Flagler County Fire Rescue, showed up early Friday morning to begin the searchI didn't see this posted yet.

One of our members who is from Putnam County said they headed to the south part of the county (Satsuma) this morning.

The main - and I believe the only direct route from the County headquarters (Palatka) is hwy 17 into Satsuma. It's not at all out of the question that this was witnessed by many people.

Also I understand that the Flagler County Crime Scene unit is on site.

Yes, me too. I went and looked at the google map off that area again in the stickies and it is or what seems to me (I'm in the desert) a lot of wooded area that appears to be very dense. That too, is if I'm looking where they are searching.

i really don't think that this guy is at all involved.

they know where he was every minute of every day (within 20 feet).

he was no where near haleigh's home on the night in question.

he was arrested for violating curfew on a night about a week after she went missing.

the only way i can see him being involved is if someone else took her and brought her to his house. how likely is that?

they searched the area that RSO was in when he missed curfew a week after she went missing? ARE YOU FREAKING KIDDING ME? what does his missing curfew have to do with anything? he was home when she went missing!!!!! if he did somehow have something to do with this........wouldn't he do it during the day when he didn't have a curfew?

PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE tell me LE has better leads and better things to do than conduct a search like this. am i missing something here? this guy can run around all day and do whatever he wants, but he stays out late one night and that must be where he hid the body? he couldn't have been involved until he broke curfew? then he's the prime suspect? unbelievable. LE is probably just "making sure", but come on. they have nothing better to do?

It doesn't make a lot of sense because they said he was at home and it was verified the night Haleigh went missing. If MC is telling the truth...he could not have taken Haleigh during the hours of his confinement. It was only later when his GPS monitor went off that they decided to follow up on his movements. I don't get it either.

LE checked him out very early on and found nothing. Or did they and were just waiting on him to mess up? Something isn't right.

I was talking with my husband, he said those trains go through there , they spray weed killer, dogs cannot pick up a scent through weed killer IF it had been sprayed recently..he said at work one time they had a bomb scare, and they could not use the dogs due to the gases that they had had work , said it would mask the scent

Yes. Late model means "as of late" or newer model. (Usually describing brand new or in the past 3 or 4 years.)

They used to refer to 1st, 2nd and 3rd gear shifting pattern with the handle connected to the steering column as 'three on the tree'. Worked the same way as a shifter on the floor. It was odd. It made for a huge shift pattern while changing gears. I know that some trucks made in the mid 70's had this yet but any truck I have driven from the 80's on up have been automatic transmissions so even though the shifter was still on the column it was just an up and down from drive to reverse etc. Don’t know when they started putting the manual shifters on the floor in trucks as a ‘standard’ thing. As far as I know any manual transmission trucks that you get now have the shifter on the floor.

BBM I would assume that LE did show this person a picture of Joe and other as protocol. I could be wrong though. LE did say Joe was not a suspect though.

Family members told Channel 4 that a relative named Joe visited the Cummings' home and left hours before Haleigh disappeared. "He's a criminal, pretty much," Croslin said. "He's been in trouble his whole life."

"We're continuing to follow up any leads that are generated anywhere," Florida Department of Law Enforcement special agent Dominick Pape said. "All the relatives have been interviewed, and Joe is a relative."

In Tennessee last Sunday, a woman called 911 saying she saw a little girl who looked like Haleigh getting into a red Toyota Rav4 in the parking lot of a Carabba's restaurant.

The woman said it appeared that the man was attempting to shield the girl's face.

"I don't believe that she would go into a restaurant and not cry for somebody," said Teresa Neves. "I can only pray it was her because that means she's alive and eating well."

Knoxville police and the Florida Highway Patrol searched the area, but they could not find the vehicle.

The truck I was talking about was one that a reserve LE officer saw near a pond on highway 17 after Haleigh was reported missing. It was just something he noticed while out looking for Haleigh, iirc.

This part did come from a reliable person, but it had nothing to do with an abandoned car full of drugs found 2/10/09. [Just for clarification.]
