A Waukegan father is desperately looking for clues to the whereabouts of his teenage son who has been missing for more than a week.
Max Castaneda, 15, was last seen by his father, Eddie Castaneda, Feb. 3 while working at the family-owned Subway at 11 N. Genesee St.
and
Around 3:30 a.m. the following morning, Max's grandfather heard a commotion outside and saw his brown Oldsmobile Cutlass Ciera speeding from the driveway. It was then his grandfather checked Max's room and discovered he was missing.
and
The family also discovered Max left behind a note saying he was heading to Calumet City. He also left his cell phone behind.
"I don't know why Max would go to Calumet City. He does not have any friends or family members there," his father said. "He does not even know how to drive."
and
While Castaneda does not know why his son would suddenly leave his family without contacting them, he is praying it was not because Max was scheduled to testify as a witness in court later this month.
"He witnessed a violent crime being committed, and we later found out he had to testify in court," he said. "I hope someone did not tell him he had to leave."
Max is 5-feet, 7-inches tall and weighs 125 pounds. He has black hair and brown eyes.
The 1990 Oldsmobile is described as having a dent on the front passenger door and rust along the bottom of the vehicle. The license plate number is 874685.
