Authorities in Florence, Clarendon and Sumter counties are seeking help in locating a 74-year-old woman who wandered away from her home in Olanta on Friday night.
Claretha McLeod, who suffers from dementia and Alzheimer’s disease, was last seen around 10:30 p.m. Friday in New Zion after hitchhiking from her home to Shiloh in Sumter County and then to northern Clarendon County, Sheriff Randy Garrett Jr. with the Clarendon County Sheriff’s Department said. She was last seen wearing a bright red coat and beige pants, weighs 130 pounds and is 5 feet 6 inches tall.
“We know that at about 10:30 Friday night, she was picked up alongside the road in New Zion,” Garrett said. “We had three bloodhounds that picked up her scent and tracked her to the intersection of Old Manning Road and William McFadden Road, but the scent went cold. That tells us that someone else picked her up.”
