SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (WWPL) - Springfield Police have stepped up their patrols after a 9 year-old girl was allegedly kidnapped when she was walking to school on Friday morning.

Thank you for this post!!! I watched a child walking to school today after I dropped my two off-she could not have been more than 9. I immediately thought what a perfect target she would be, and yet I couldn't offer her a ride because she should not be getting into cars with strangers....so being a WS freak, I watched until she made it onto the school property and where the teachers were waiting to let her in the locked doors....:crazy:

WS freak here too...I've done this same thing a million times, watch out for other kids that I've seen walking alone that is. I wish other parents could/would read the hundreds of thousands of stories I've read here, on CP, DN, etc.

Stranger safety tips for parents

....The man is described as Hispanic, late 20's, 5'9" with a medium build. He was wearing a dark puffy coat with skeletons on it. The car is described as small navy colored with tinted windows and a possible Massachusetts plate of 593-KV.....

Since Interstate 91 is in close proximity to both incidences it may do well for CT & VT residents of MA border cities/towns to keep an eye out for this car.

The Amber Alert Global Incident map was posted by imamaze in the Missing Forum. It allows for us to know about abduction attempts that we might not otherwise be aware of. Common sense says if there are 2 incidences in close proximity as seen in this situation....proactive awareness is essential for the protection of our children and grandchildren.

Winchester, MA - A woman driving a red car, possibly a Ford Focus, allegedly attempted to abduct a 12-year-old Winchester girl Monday, March 9 at about 7:40 p.m., police said.
