Also, i just looked at myorangeclerk for his criminal record. he was just arresed on 4/19 for criminal mischief and was out on bond. Also, in 1998 he was arrested on 3-6 felony counts of theft and burglary. So he's no stranger to the breaking of the law.

A judge issued a $500 bond for Hataway on the drug charges, but he is being held without bond for violating the conditions of his release from a previous charge. Hataway is out on bond from a February criminal mischief charge.

Police said cell phone records place Ocasio in the area of Hataway's home around 8:30 a.m. Wednesday, despite his claims that she left. Police are not ruling out the possibility she left and had car trouble.

I checked all those dumpsters myself on Saturday. In fact my friend and i checked most of the dumpsters in the area. We did a foot search in the surrounding area. We did not go onto Lyle street though, but we were on Taylor and oakland (east of Taylor). We went down the tracks - looked in the trains, the 16wheeler trucks around, an abandoned house - we checked just about all we legally could. half of the dumpsters around were practically empty (so prob emptied between the time of her missing and Saturday) the others were very full but had no foul smell (smelled of boxes or rotting fruit).

they should check the dumpsters from the building in the top right corner of the map. It is not far from her car.

Was a call or text made or do they mean PING? I'm thinking PING and her cell battery ran out of juice or someone who may have been in possession of it turned it off .

we checked the tractor trailers too - underneath them and in a number of them - not all - there were lurkers aroudn so we didn't stay too long.
we looked in the dumpster over there too.
most of the tractor trailers were locked up - but a few were broken and could be used for squatting but we checked out the ones that seemed like someone could be in them.
then again - we didn't open the backs of ALL of them.
I think they need to focus on the woods back by the guys house on Lyle and the wooded area between it and the railroad tracks.
In order for him to get to the lake, though he'd have to literally travel by the main police station. seems too risky to me - the police station is due east on bluford from where her car was found - i don't think he ventured too far with her if he took her somewhere.. i think the cops need to stay in a small radius from his house. Where does his Dad live? maybe nothing is noticable in James' house b/c maybe they never went there -they went to his dads?
Apparently yesterday when his dad heard that his son's name was connected, he drove to the police station, cussed out everyone, cops and media - threw a bottle at them and sped off.
what a nutcase. and THAT is james' alibi. that guys rap sheet (the dad) isn't too great either. Child neglect (not feeding his child) when James was 13.. and some other things.. i looked up his record.
So we aren't dealing with the greatest of citizens here.
it wouldn't surprise me if the Dad was involved.. being that he's the "alibi"

An Orange County judge ruled this morning that James Virgil Hataway, questioned in connection with the case of missing Ocoee resident Tracy Ocasio, will remain in jail.

While determining his bail, Judge Heather Higbee questioned Hataway's prior juvenile conviction of kidnapping and bodily injury out of Hillsborough County.

Around 7 p.m. last night, investigators searched Hataway's home on Lyle Street in Ocoee which is a block away from where Tracy's Chevy Colbalt was discovered...

...Sgt. Mike Bryant said there were no signs that Tracy was inside Hataway's home. "We had cadaver dogs search this property as a precaution. Nothing at the house indicated she had been there," Bryant said.(My comment in Blue, I'm sure they took forensics at the home that they eare waiting on too, they are probably talking about visual evidence)...

..."They had a warrant to search the house because he was the last person seen with her," father Joe Ocasio saod.

I'm trying to remember~ isnt' there something about the body must be deceased a certain amount of time in a certain place before the dogs will be able to pick up the chemical compounds that come about when a human dies?

OMG!! Well, i am so glad she came forward - i think that her information will be vital to keeping him behind bars until he confesses or they find Tracy (hopefully alive). Maybe this girl can file formal charges against him as well and that will be enough to hold him for awhile while the police get their case together. i really think her belongings (and maybe even her) are somewhere between his house and the car -- off of the railroad tracks.
Just seems logical that he would ditch the keys and purse as he walked back home (down the railroad tracks) and probably tossed them into the wooded area.
As far as what he could have done with her - who knows - he sounds like a psychopath.. i wonder if the car has any clues - like scratches caused by branches - certain dirt on the tires - this whole thing makes me sick and is so tragic. my heart goes out to her family. i now wish my friend and i had kept walking down the railroad tracks and looked alittle further on Lyle. we tried not to encroach on people's residential property, so we stopped near the tractor trailers. i'm sure the police and dogs are all over that area tonight.

Actually he also had a case of felony criminal mischief that he was out on bond. When he was arrested on the new drug charges, his bond was revoked on the Criminal Mischief case.

Now Seminole police know where he is to question him on the other case. :woohoo:

Why didn't seminole county get alerted when he was brought in back in April? Maybe he would have been held longer or had a higher bond setting so he would have been behind bars instead of "getting a ride home from Tracy"... That concerns me that a criminal can do something in one county but when arrested in another, not get held. Especially since it's so likely for someone to migrate between all three (orange, seminole and osceola) around here. I guess he didn't have a "warrant" put out for the attack from last year? that's a shame. maybe all of this could have been avoided. he sounds like a textbook predator.

i just looked up his record in seminole county.. 2006 he was arrested for Cocaine Possession and DUI. Then was found guilty, revoked license - the looked like a few months later got arrested again for DUI. went back to court. had community service - was supposed to pay fines, etc, etc. didin't - then i think got re-arrested for driving again in 2006, Violation of Probation, etc.
Then again in 2007 - arrested for driving on a suspended/revoked license.

...He said Hataway acted suspiciously almost from the onset when those posters were being put up in the Tap Room Bar, the location where Tracy seen leaving with Hataway early last Wednesday morning.

"Her friends posted fliers throughout the whole area there and this same man, when he saw the fliers, took off."...

...The Ocasio family holds out hope, but at the same time says they are being realistic. They simply want to know what has happened to their daughter.

I wonder if James had a personal cell phone? If so, maybe they can check his "pings" between the hours of 1am and 9am wednesday. If he was with Tracy, or her belongings maybe police can track if he drove somewhere away from his house. Maybe they can expedite the process to get those records considering..

Also, looking into his father's criminal records, i saw that in 1993 (when James was 13) the father was charged with "failure to provide shelter/food to a child" and battery. So looks like James and his Dad were living on the streets after they were evicted from Oak Forest Apartments (where they lived with his mother) in 1992.

He was MIGHTY quick to be in the press giving character references for his fellow scumbag friend. There may be no scent and no proof she was ever at the house because he dumped the car on the way home from Toole's. He knows both of them and just doesn't seem like a periphery character to me.

That's a very good possibilty this guy sounds very evil. the girl he attacked last year was on JVM saying how violent he was with her. Slamming her into the cement and she was yelling for help and luckily 2 people came out and he ran off. (not word for word this is what I remember). so he's not afraid of violence in a public area.

As far as them searching from the bar i have not read or heard anything about them doing that.

Hataway told police that Ocasio gave him a ride home from the Taproom, where witnesses saw them kissing earlier in the night. When they arrived at his house in the 100 block of Lyle Street in Ocoee, she wanted to smoke marijuana with him, according to police.

Hataway told police he showed her the drugs he had, but she didn't like them and left his house. But records show that Ocasio's cell phone was near the area of Hataway's home about 8:30 a.m. the next day.

On May 28, police found Ocasio's abandoned car just yards from Hataway's house. It was hauled away as evidence. Police executed a search warrant at Hataway's house over the weekend, but did not find any evidence of the missing woman, police said.They did find drug paraphernalia.

So I am familiar with after parties for the workers and their friends. Sometimes it was even inside the establishment after hours and the doors were locked. I don't know about this situation. I never stayed or went to them, I had kids to get up with in the AM. Just an aside.

I did a criminal record search on Hataway's ex (the one who fathered his child).
In november of 07 she ran a red light and was drinking and driving. Then
in april of 08 had 2 domestic violence charges against her. She was given a no contact order and required to move out of where she was. Then january of this year got arrested for DUI (causing bodily harm or injury) and resisting arrest. Her trial date is this month...

There is nothing to suggest that Jennifer Kesse knew these guys or would have even considered getting close to one of them but the possibility that they saw her and maybe stalked her cannot be dismissed yet either - JVH has a history of violence against women and Jennifer certainly would have put up a real fight - something that would have likely set off a very violent reaction in her attacker. As for the photo of the POI in Jennifer's case - there is still too much debate as to height, weight, sex, race, etc - one thing does seem to be clear - the POI is wearing a hat, cap, bike helmet - that would cover up a bald head pretty well - right? JVH didn't drive - his MO seems to be getting a ride from someone and then attacking - I think he had help.

A search of pipl (another website I sometimes use) doesn't show anything for Onda, just articles that have been published since Tracy disappeared. No social networking page links~ that doesn't mean Onda doesn't have one somewhere, that means he hasn't put his first and last name as an identifier or that pipl didn't pick it up. I searched Myspace, no pages under Onda(that fit), or Onda George.

He does have a record at "Myorangeclerk" (add a www. to the front and a .com to the back without quotation marks and you can search too)

His date of birth is listed as March 2, 1980 twice and March 20 1980 once.

Under the March 2 birthdate we see 8 criminal cases and 2 traffic cases

It's possible there was a fight in the car or smack on the head to the driver(OndaGeo) causing the accident. It is at that time he makes some sort of admission that his friend can't be found (saying he ran into the woods after the accident) and implies he is 'looking for him,' trying to direct the policeman's attention AWAY from himself. Hopefully, LE is checking out those woods again.

Also the possibility, he/they hurt him earlier, dumped him somewhere and stole his auto. When the policeman came across him, it was his excuse for why the owner wasn't present. He could have been so stoned or drunk, he caused the acident himself.

I was listening to Fox National News late last evening,and the reporter briefly stated that a man was being investigated in the disappearance of several people, including the recent disappearnce of Tracy Ocasio,and also in the disappearance of Jennifer Kessee over three years ago. Tracy's parents were on briefly, and my heart went out to them for their pain was so obvious. I don't have a link, but it was late last night, and might have been on the Geraldo Rivera show, as it was about that time. I was surfing channels. (I am away visiting a daughter, and on a different time zone.) Both of these families deserve answers, and I pray answers are coming soon.

I hope that LE investigates this guy thoroughly because he very well could be a serial killer,IMHO, and his childhood, and early history of crime after crime bear close consideration. I can't help but say it again - what is happening to Orlando, my beloved city!!

On Tuesday, on of Hataway's friends, Justin Sharpe, talked with detectives for about an hour. Investigators called it an emotional interview.

Sharpe dropped Hataway off at the Florida Tap Room two weeks ago, the same night surveillance video captured Tracy Ocasio leaving with Hataway following an Orlando Magic watch party.

OCOEE - Police are searching a wooded area near Ingram Road and Clarcona Ocoee Road for missing Ocoee woman Tracy Ocasio.

The area is about 300 yards from a bike path. About 10 dogs have been brought in to help assist the search, Ocoee police said.

Police said James Hataway used to work at a bar in Casselberry. WESH 2 News was there on Wednesday to speak with some of his coworkers and friends.
Police said he also used to be an environmental worker, and he used to illegally dump trash in nearby woods. That's why there were teams of cadaver dogs from all over the state searching through the wooded area.
Hataway is still in jail, saying little to police and refusing interviews with the media. Some of his old friends had plenty to say about him.
"He wasn't a good guy, very short tempered," said friend "Tony."
Tony didn't want his face on camera, but he said he used to hang out with Hataway at Holly and Dolly's bar in Casselberry.
Hataway was a cook there for six months. Tony said he was with Hataway before another alleged attack on a woman.
"He tried to choke her out, fingers in her mouth, bruising on her face, bruising on her body -- a lot of substantial damage," Tony said.
He said he thinks search crews are in the right area.

The old friend commenting that he thinks the search is in the right area gave me the chills. It reminded me of Casey Anthony's friend KM who said she thought the secret area where Casey had buried a pet hamster would be where she would have placed Caylee's remains. KM was right - Caylee was found in the area KM discussed, although not from a targeted search. I pray that Traci is found soon, and returned safe. But, in any case, that she is found soon.

I don't have an answer to your question, but I wouldn't be surprised if you aren't right! Many of them "try out" prostitutes in the beginning. I wonder if there are any missing? Sadly, they aren't out in the media when they go missing.

I can't figure out why she would take this guy home, this bullhead looking guy - reminds me of the skinheads in Idaho! Pretty scary, and almost 6' tall too.

To be honest, if I didn't know he was a woman beater, I would think he was attractive. I like the 6' tall, tattoo-covered, bad-arse men, even the bald-headed ones. Usually those are the teddy bear types. He wouldn't scare me one bit. Not likely that I would give a stranger a ride home though. Women really need to be more aware of their own safety.

She lived in a little green house in Salem Or and almost never got off her huge bed that almost filled the bedroom. Any possibility this could link to Nicole Ganguzza? There was also a young woman who went missing from here in Brevard County a couple of years ago - firefighter. They found her pickup in a lake off of a main highway and blood but no body. Just throwing it out there...

Would love to see one map with all of these discussed locations noted - Hataway's home, his father's home, Jennifer's apt, where does Tracy live?, workplaces, Tap Room Bar, you know - all places of interest in the two cases maybe with different colored markers?

I was told by LeLe they did not do a national call out but TES has a pretty large group in Orlando TES they were using. They also had the help of volunteers from the area along w TES searchers. She said the group in Orlando is good, she has searched with them before and that if they stay longer or return TES might put out a nation wide call. I've heard nothing further, but praying Tracy will be found. :prayer:

TES extends search for Ocoee woman

"Texas EquuSearch is staying in Central Florida for at least another day to continue the search for an Ocoee woman...

On Sunday, as word spread about the search, the crowd of volunteers grew to 125 to 150 people.

EquuSearch spokeswoman Carolyn Todd said the group will be dispatching teams throughout Monday, with the last team being sent out around 2 p.m. She could not say how long the group might stay in Central Florida.

"It's going to be a day-by-day decision," Todd said. "That's normal on most searches."

In addition to people who can search by foot, EquuSearch is in need of all-terrain vehicles and horses. Horse owners must present a current Coggins test at registration, Todd said.

Volunteers can check in starting at 8 a.m. at the staging site for the search, Vignetti Park, 1906 Adair St. in Ocoee. They must be 18 or older, with a valid photo identification, and able to withstand the heat.

Volunteers should bring their own food and water, wear long sleeves, sturdy shoes, insect repellent, sunscreen and hat.

Donations of bottled water and other drinks, nonperishable snacks, pens, staplers, copier paper or general office supplies can be brought to the staging site any time after 8 a.m."

TES continues to need financial support however large or small, it will be gratefully accepted and judiciously used.

My heart aches for these parents - unlike "A" parents, this family quickly and for the sake of Tracy made the jump to accept the sad and heartbreaking chance that she may not be alive. How terribly painful for them. I wish I could hug them - and the Kesse's too.

Maybe we won't need to have a next time search! Praying, Praying~

The Hutto brothers, specifically Paul, were involved in an argument with Ocasio that turned physical outside the Florida Tap Room the evening of April 14, 2009."

The home formerly owned by the Hutto family and was seized in a lis pendens motion in 2008, was one of two homes Police drained the murky pool of on Monday. They do however have a sizable property 11 miles away off 429 on Lake Joseph.



Let me get this straight.....is he implying something may have happen to Tracy AFTER she dropped him off? like maybe she ran in to those brothers somewhere? Doesn't make sense since he and Tracy left the club after 1am, she supposedly drove him home, looked at his drug stash and didn't like it or didn't want any and then left. So exactly where would she have run in to these guys if most all bars would be closed by 2am?
I don't believe him at all. If he is trying to blame them, then there is always the chance he dumped her somewhere on or close to their property to make it look like they may have been involved.

The Hutto property off 429 on Lake Joseph would be of interest since he's pointing LE in that direction.

"This ain't the 70's baby" KWIM? Marijuana is considered very innocuous by kids born in the 80's and 90's. They don't even think twice about it most of the time.

As of Monday afternoon, over 700 acres have been searched.About 60
volunteers participated on Monday. The focus has been on the area between
the Florida Taproom and where Tracy's vehicle was found. Texas EquuSearch
met with Law Enforcement on Monday morning to discuss the status of the
search and possible other search areas.
There is an URGENT need for foot searchers, ATVs, and horses for Tuesday's
search. Horse owners will need to present a current Coggins test at

She is, but maybe she just smokes when she drinks, so she doesn't really consider herself a "smoker". I know a few people who would consider themselves the same. I personally don't think she ever went to Hataway's house at all which is why no neighbors saw her car and her scent wasn't there. i think he had her stop the car on the way to his house (ie: pull over i have to pee).. something bad happens - he drives to unknown location and drops off her body. Then he drives to the location her car was found. People hear the car pull up around 2:30 - he walks home via the railroad tracks. Fits the timeline. Then his dad is his alibi. When people lie and use "time" as an indicator "She left my house at 2:30".. He may be lying about what happened at 2:30am but 2:30am is significant. i think that's the time he saw in the car as he turned it off, checked the backseats for any residual evidence of himself being there (maybe wiped down any prints) and tossed her stuff in a dumpster and headed home.
Question is still: WHAT about the 4:30am call from her phone? PING location? and if the friend didnt answer the phone, did it go to voicemail??? if so what did the recording show? was it silence? was there background noise (ie: buttdialing).. i think the phone call is important which is why police aren't telling the public much

at 4:30am there was an outgoing call FROM her phone. From what i have heard, the call was to a friend of hers (however that hasn't been made public so i don't know that for sure). I do know that whoever was called, didn't answer the phone. The police have not released the ping location or the identity of the person called. To me that's significant. Where did it ping? Was it identified to ping from the same tower by Hataway's house as it did when her parents called at 8:30am? I guess we have to wait to find out. I believe the last identified ping was from the 8:30am call - i assume her phone died after that or the battery was removed.
Either way the 4:30am call is odd. Who made the call, and why? was it to coverup something? was it an accidental call made by a stranger picking up the phone? Such an odd piece to the puzzle.

I don't know where I read this,and I cannot say if the info was accurate, but, I remember reading that even when the battery is depleted a cell phone's GPS still works. Remember the case in Kansas where the girl was taken from a Target parking lot? Her body was located because of her phone several days after her abduction. So, having said that, the location of Traci's phone remains a mystery. I have to think that LE would have located her phone if at all possible. There is so much not being said in this case. Hopefully, LE has a lot more info than is being released to the public at this time.

I don't think you can still get a signal from a cell phone when its dead or if someone took the battary out if that were the case i think we would hear alot more about people being found or at least the phones being found like casey anthony's missing phone stuff like that.The 4am Phone call does sound suspiscious to me too but then i remembered she was at a bar drinking most of us can relate to making those kinda phone calls to a freind when out drinking for the night.

She had already left the bar with Hataway and by his account, he last saw her at 2:30 am. I think that he made sexual advances to her in the car & she possibly thwarted his advances which ticked him off and imo strangled her out of anger! Maybe her phone was in her pocket and when she was dumped wherever, her phone did the butt dial. I certainly hope that the police are zero'ing by the pings at 4:30 am & 8:30 am. Wherever those pings are, she is most likely within a 3 mile radius. JMO

IIRC, the police reported it to the media that there was an outgoing call from her phone at 4:30 am and that they know who the call was made to and have already spoken to that person but will not release anymore details about it.

Cocoamom asked if I could answer a few questions about cell phones and GPS:

Will the GPS on a cell phone work if the battery is removed?No. The GPS function is implemented using an antenna and a microprocessor chip (I believe nowadays the function is integrated on the same chip as most of the remaining cell phone electronics). The transmitter / receiver and the microprocessor chip all require electricity to operate. With the battery removed, there is no source of electricity. Cell phones do not come with a big capacitor to maintain charge for a period of time after the battery is removed.
Will the GPS on a cell phone work if the phone is off?No. When the phone is turned off, the electronics are really put into a "deep sleep" mode to conserve as much power (and battery life) as possible. The only electronics active when a phone is off is the sense circuitry for the on/off button.
A reported Ping can be incoming or outgoing right?Yes. Incoming and outgoing pings (calls and texts) are both registered by the tower. The exception is a call that is never answered, even if it goes to voicemail. In that case the provider network will record the event, but no tower will be associated with it because no tower actually handled a call or text. A call that goes to voicemail does not do so through a cell tower. It does so through a central office computer.
Can a phone ping if it is not in use but on?Yes. By not in use, I presume what is meant is that no calls are being made or texts being sent. An incoming text, which does not require the user of the phone to handle the phone, will cause a cell tower ping and this will show up in the tower records. (Incedentally, if a bunch of texts are sent to a cell phone while it is off will show up as a flurry of text pings when the phone is turned back on).

There are also roaming pings that occur periodically between a cell phone and a tower. By periodically, I mean about once per minute, maybe even once every 15 seconds or so. This ping is not associated with calls or texts. It is a "handshake" between the phone and a tower, basically letting the two know they are in contact. This ping is what tells your phone the signal strength (number of bars). The cell tower does record these pings, but because there are so many of them, it erases them (writes over them) very frequently. I recall reading at one point they would be kept for at most one day.

Holding hat in hand - you are right. I vow to spend a bunch of time on the JK threads as my prayers have been with her from the very beginning as well. Please know that I understand. I feel the same way about the Wix girls. They've received hardly a drop of interest, yet their family's lives are still as destroyed as they were the day they disappeared. Also know that I have visited Jenn Kesse's thread a few times and pray that she will be found, and pray for her friends and family. I really feel that the person who harmed Tracy also harmed Jenn Kesse. I really do!

I don't know if Tim Miller himself is still here or not but I do know there is a Central Florida Division of TES that was formed late in the Caylee case. It's made up of locals who live in FL and/or Central FL all specially trained and practicing. They have the ability to search longer and more often than the entire "official" crew because they are local.

I think if Tim and the main crew have to leave, (it is VERY expensive every day they stay) that the Florida group might be able to search. Not sure who you would contact about that though.

The FL group searched for a missing man here in Brevard a few months back and found his body for his widow. I think they have searched several times for several people.

I have two questions. I have followed this case from the beginning but have not seen or heard anything as to whether a search warrant was served on Hataway's residence. Also wondering if the ground surrounding his house and in the general vicinity was closely examined for signs of s fresh grave? I ask these things because sometimes things are hidden in plaind sight because the perp knows most people won't search in an obvious place because it is too obvious. Maybe far-fetched, but I can't help but wonder.
