At 10 pm there was/is a new show on for the summer called Crime and Punishment. It's in San Diego and the go into the courtroom during trials.
Seeing how I'm on the "left coast" it's just starting for me.
Did anyone else see it tonight?
I'll be back in an hour to give my opinion. What's yours?

Okay, I'm back. This was a case about 2 guys who were drag racing down a stretch of Imperial Ave. in San Diego of which I am very familiar with seeing how I drove it everyday for 12 years. In this case, of course, the defense tried to blame the driver of the GEO Storm, which I might add was twisted and crushed like a soda pop can, for making a very slow left hand turn across two lanes with 2 cars going in excess of 90 mph bearing down on them. 2 of the three teenage occupants were killed instantly and the teen that survived is confined to a wheelchair.
They were found not guilty of 2nd degree murder. They were both found guilty of vehicluar manslaughter with gross negligence. It's sad they are only both going to serve 6 and 9 years in prison.

I saw the show last night.
I was in and out of the room during some of the details. Wasn't it true that one of the drag racers was NOT involved in the crash?? But he did leave the scene of the accident, right?
Why, and How, was he charged with manslaughter? Was it just because he was involved in the drag race??
I don't know much about law but I had thought that he would be charged with other stuff... reckless driving, leaving the scene, etc.
I do realize that it was an accident. They didn't mean to go out and kill someone but I guess that they were just too dumb to think through the consequences. what a shame...

The one guy who wasn't involved in the crash, fled. It took them quite awhile to find hime because he took off to Fresno. They were both convicted of vehicular manslaughter with gross negligence and the guy who left the seen was also charged and convicted of that. But it was very difficult for the prosecution to find for 2 degree murder. They would like to hope a conviction of that nature might sloow down the street racing but sad as it is they will not spend enough time in prison. they will be back street racing one day.
