Army had received a call saying that Gonzalez had been kidnapped. The caller demanded $100,000 and the withdrawal of all troops from the border.

"He was pretty happy," his brother said. "He had a house, a car and had taken that step to manhood. He was enjoying himself."
The family has so far been frustrated by the Army's response.
"We don't feel the Army is taking it as seriously as we are," J.C. Gonzalez said.
Gonzalez was awaiting trial this fall on misdemeanor charges stemming from an argument with his girlfriend. His brother said that it was being handled and would have been no reason for him to disappear.

from the other articles I read I am able to glean that he was stationed at Fort Hood and that the ransom call was made the same day (allegedly) that he vanished/was kidnapped... on JULY 13TH Just glancing at my calendar I notice today's date... hmmmm that was eight freaking days ago! What gives? (hinky)

thank you for that update Stead! Hmmm.... wonder if one of the things he will be under arrest for is faking a kidnapping and ransom call? What a loser!

I'm glad that he was found, and that he is safe. However, I'm really disgusted over what he has done. It seems he was facing a misdemeanor charge over some altercation with a girlfriend, and had missed a July court date. What a jerk ! With all the problems the military is already facing, all the problems along the border already, this could have blown up into a major fiasco !
