Moved over from thread #7:

What does this post mean on her guest book? Did I miss that she has 3 other siblings?:

Lindsey, I want you to know that L****, B*******, and A***** are praying for your safe return! It has been hard on them to know that their sister and brother is going through this hell!! We all pray for your safe return! Scott our thoughts are with you and Melissa as well.

http://www.findlindseybaum.com/31001.html

I think Scott has a new family in Tennessee - likely Lindsey has half-brothers & half-sisters

I'm guessing that is Scotts wife and they are either half or step siblings..

Scott (goes by Greg) and his new wife were married less than 2 weeks before Lindsey disappeared.

I'm confused though.. her myspace talks about "taking her step daughter" to the airport on July 14

How many families does Scott have?

the L child mentioned in the note has the last name B. older than lb.
facebook.

Ok, so I think I have this figured out. Scott has at least 5 kids (the three mentioned in the guest book--T is the mom to those three), Lindsey and Josh (by Melissa) and then his current (new) wife has two children from a former marriage/relationship.

I'm amazed at the incorrect info that a "local" is posting over at SM. It's like she's trying to send everyone on a wild goose chase. Bizarre.

OMG.. I just figured out the area she posted. Doesn't make any sense at all. How'd she get that and where she says the picture is of.. mixed up?

I would like to find out more about all the 3 other brothers and sisters that Lindsey has and their ages. I would have to assume they are all older...but how old? It would also appear by that post from their mom that they do have some relationship with Lindsey and her brother. How strange we are only finding out about them now!

SeriouslySearching

No, they look nothing alike! Unless they tore the fairgrounds down and started rebuilding it with first getting rid of the highways...that is not the same place at all, imo.

Congratulations on the return of your son, Jennifer, even moreso when he steps off the aircraft and embraces you.

SS, a candle light vigil here, on the same night, to me sounds like an "excellent" idea, the locals gather physically and "we" all who can't be their physically can gather in some above the physical way.

I can only find one.. L (mentioned in the guest book). She is 17 and lives in Utah. You can find her myspace (private) by looking for the mom (public myspace, name in guestbook). She is on her friends list (so is Scott/Greg and his new wife-public with some private areas)

Can anyone find a vehicle ownership for FL this year? I'd just like to find out if it's white. Just a request if anyone knows how to legally access such records

JenniferO
07-21-2009, 11:15 PM
No, they look nothing alike! Why?

She posted the second picture saying it was the Elma Fairgrounds (not sure why she didn't really explain). The first picture is of the fairgrounds. Her picture is of the high school here in Montesano.

I don't know how she got them mixed up.

She also talks about some man and something that happened with her. If I'm correct.. she has the wrong name. Yet she's trying to make it sound like he is Mark (the drunk the JVK ran into). Saying he is connected to Larson Road and everything.

She's giving me the creeps for some reason. I don't understand why she is giving out false info.

Jennifer, one thing that I appreciate about what I perceive in your nature is that you have the ability to be both objective and subjective, and you can turn it on and off when it is necessary. I appreciate that very much when reading your posts because you are able to be objective when objectivity is required, without attention to subjective things like emotion. You tell it like it is, and ask questions and answer them like it is, that is a fabulous talent, indeed, imo.

Supersleuthe characteristics, imo. It's something that is important for detectives, who are human, but keep the goal in mind, and sometimes need to get extremely objective in the search for the motive, method, and opportunity.

I think this is the reason you are so bothered by a whole lot of "emotional" speculation from time to time, and I agree with you, it smokes up the view.

The white car seems to me to be important, if FL owns a white car then that is something to consider. He has clearly demonstrated that he is both a bad driver and a drunk who has no problem jumping into a vehicle when intoxicated. He is related to ML, may have even lived in the ML residence during the time of their occupation of that rental property. The local kids chat about this "white" car that drives around trying to pick up young girls. One girl admits that this person has DUI convictions, 5, but she may have been exaggerating. 2 would be enough, surely, over a 2 year period, that this guy has problems with driving drunk. And he seems to live in town.

Correct me if I'm wrong but past posts from kids have chatted about some guy running around McCleary in a white car, trying to pick up kids. If that isn't correct, then I sincerely apologize for my input.

I don't think anything about the white car is quotable and probably RUMOR. It could have come from a MS page, another site or a comment in the paper that Lindsey thought she was being followed by a white car and that one of her friends had a man in a white car stop her and offer her something {can't remember what, maybe to drive the car}.

I never thought that was true as girls that age are very impressionable. It would be a good question for Cyber to ask Sheli if he ever sees her again.

Norm, We learned earlier today about someone in McCleary who has several DUI's. Now I can't think of his name. I'll have to try and find it tonight and stick it somewhere not to lose it. He wasn't an SO.

checking out the ownership of a "white" car with someone who is relative to the crime would be, yes, incidental, but something to consider if the registration clarified the color. If the color was "red" then complete elimination would be the result

While I am thinking about it, the website for Lindsey did say that it was being done by "friends and family of Lindsey". However, I found it strange the only photos that had been put up were the ones the media used. Does anyone else think this is a bit odd if the family were part of the website? I recall on Kara Koptesky's site from her family and friends, there were TONS of photos put on there which you could tell came from intimate affairs she attended with them.

Normcar21
07-22-2009, 12:15 AM
Just because he wasn't registered as a SO means nothing, is there anyone in McCleary with any criminal background who drives a white vehicle? That's a suggestion to investigate. Any drunks in McCleary to me are potentials. I am just offering suggestions, I apologize if my ideas are ridiculous.

Thank you for the compliment, Norm. I've always been drawn to things like this.. whether it be PI work, reading true crime books, watching tv programs on the subject or doing "riddles" that I was given clues and I had to solve it to move on.

My father always told me that reading all of those true crime books when I was a teen would come in handy someday. He said I'd either solve crimes or commit perfect ones.
I would hope solving would be the path I took (although raising 4 boys there were times where I would have loved to pull off the "perfect crime" ;) )

KK mentioned a white car & given a (2nd hand, via kid(s)) description.

It's not entirely rumor but it came off a bit marginal.

While speaking w/KK a vehicle somewhat meeting the description pulled up to a neighbors house.

The guy that got out might have been the most creepy looking mofo i'd seen in McCleary.

KK said she didn't recognize the vehicle & i took 2 shots.

ffwd a few minutes - i get 'stopped' - i reflect ^ - & i am told to 'report this down there so it gets back to us' .........

When i got home i sent those 2 pictures in w/a report. No response.

Whether this was a shade of imagination (kids) with a side of heightened * i'm not sure.

[QUOTE=JenniferO;3978671]Thank you for the compliment, Norm.

I would hope solving would be the path I took (although raising 4 boys there were times where I would have loved to pull off the "perfect crime" ;) )[/QUO

Don't you all wish that pervs were so easy to recognize". Then LE could just put out an APB for the "fugliest guy in town" or a BOLA for "the creepiest looking mo-fo you've ever seen". LOL

How many patrol deputies does the McCleary Police Department have? How many county sheriffs patrol here? State Police? These guys know where all the real creeps are. They need some undercover agents to move to the area. Ahem. I see there are houses for sale, really cheap. Shall we set up shop? I can play Crazy Southern Blonde with a mysterious past. Someone can play beloved daughter-in-law and we need some kids. I'll supply the pets.

We'll arrive in Cadillacs, buy a dump and fill it with fabulous furniture.

Then my sister will show up, with her gang and will buy a house. We join all the churches and clubs, shop a lot, gossip and listen. Someone will tell us what happened.

ohhhh ohhhh i want in on that... i wanna be the barefoot and pregnant, girlfriend of some loser! yeah!!!! lol

I think we are kind of learning that McCleary is pretty well staked out with a couple of gumshoes who have top-notch technology under their belts and have a mission to accomplish.

I think we needed some laughter tonight. People sometimes don't understand that and believe we are being in some way disrespectful to Lindsey and her family. However, when you spend hours and hours wading through RSOs, horrible scenarios and theories, and know a little girl is waiting to be found...you have to find a way to burn off a bit of frustration and steam. It is going to be some little thing, or something said or maybe not said, that will crack this case IMO.

I have often thought there should be a foundation where the talented writers of crime shows like Monk, Law & Order with Jeff G, The Mentalist, Criminal Minds, NCIS and such others, who would volunteer so much time to work on live cases every month and figure out how to catch the perp.

This week I saw a piece of brilliance in the Law and Order show with Jeff Goldbloom {last name?}.

The jist: He had reason to think this lady had murdered her old lover out of jealousy as he had married a different woman, or SS. At the memorial service for the hubby Jeff got up and said he had found a poem in the dead mans desk that he wanted to read because it showed the man's true genius as a writer of poetry.

The poem told of rekindling an old love and how throughout life, it had been the very person he truly loved and always would, even in death.

Silence after the reading, and you see the lady with tears welling up in her eyes leave the bldg and start walking down the street. Jeff came up and talked with her and told her it must have been she was the love of his life after all. And she caved as she realiazed he really did want her after all and now he was dead.

We see her taken into a police car, and in the next scene Jeff is talking to his partner. She says to him, SS to 'The one thing you didn't tell her is that you wrote that poem, right?' And he just grinned and they walked away.

I think we need to put the thought that goes into that writing to good use for true Justice. xox

Actually SS with audiences getting smarter and smarter, writers do a lot more research and they do come up with some clever ideas. Now they may not all be practical, but they just might come up with that one thing that could solve a case. Just as any of us who are not real detectives might. In general I think you are right about that SS. Except Monk. LOL It seems with about 10 min left in the show they are at a dead stalemate when suddenly he remembers something that was very odd, out of place or a comment made from the subconscious of the perp that ends up being the last piece of the puzzle ! and plunk, down he/she goes!

I just thought crime writers who have to be very clever, knowing the particulars of a crime from the investigators, could scheme a way to trap the perp.

It does break your heart. I have always said that those who perpetrate crimes against children are the worst offenders. Those little people look to us for trust, guidance and protection and when someone takes advantage of that, you literally want to choke them. And I'll be honest, I have no, and I do mean zero, tolerance for sexual offenders.

Lately we have read about these guys getting out and still being rated level II or level III, then not registering. They know the police don't have the manpower to track them down easily. What I don't understand is, if they knowingly let these guys back on the street, aren't they just as guilty? Why does another child have to be subjected to some level of pain perpetrated by these animals before they get locked up again? If they don't have the manpower then they should at least have to be electronically tracked. The laws don't make a lot of sense to me. When someone is convicted of a sexual offense against a child, they should forever be labeled and tracked, without exception if they are deemed to reoffend. In my book it is truly madness to let a known offender ever walk the streets unmonitored. Time servered or not, the greater good of the public and the nature of these crimes should outway any freedoms SO's have.

Sorry for my rant. I am very passionate about this subject.

Sure you could discuss it, in a closed forum. If you are not an Official Investigator how can they stop you from sharing information that you have dug up and post on a forum?

There have been lots of groups formed that have no legal power, yet assist the police. Like the Guardian Angels for instance.

Don't worry about the rant as we all pretty much feel the same way. The laws are inadequate. The punishment is not equal in any way to the crimes being committed. The judicial system appears to be softer on sexual offenders than any other crime (I have seen people who abuse animals or get caught smoking pot get stiffer sentences than child predators). There is no rehabilitation for sexual offenders yet they let them walk our streets and live among us...until they are caught again and the revolving door hits them in the @ss as they are back out on the streets before the ink is dry on the arrest warrants. We should be angry! The system doesn't work and they are doing nothing to fix it.

Omigoodness! Ya'll had me ROTFLMFAO over "operation infiltrate McCleary".....we've all been on edge while waiting for new info......and a good laugh was MUCH appreciated! So I've gotta get in on this action somehow.....I live in Arkansas so I've got the real-deal when it comes to the accent.....and I already have the tramp-stamp so I can spare ya'll the pain that comes with Spongebob iron ons (I admire the creativity, though!!). I normally drive my Celica like it's an ATV, but for such a special trip I'll upgrade to the big red truck complete with toolbox, a cooler of Bud Light, some muddin' boots shoved upside down between the cab and the truck bed, and a couple of dogs to ride up front w/me (all I'm missing is a gun rack and a grill....cause you never know when you'll run across/over something that needs to be shot and/or grilled). Needless to say, baby cousin "Willie-Joe" is ready to head up-yonder for the family reunion whenever ya'll are!!

OK, back on topic now cause I've got a few questions....been a little behind lately....

Are we looking for a white car or a black low-rider truck or both and who do we suspect the owners are?
I'm guessing that the white car is the one that was rumored to be following LB and friends around.....and we're trying to both ID the car and find out who owns it....or am I missing something? Is this where the poster (MB, I think) might be connected or are ya'll trying to connect the "US"es??
The black truck is what the three guys were driving when they tried to abduct the little girl in the other town near McCleary....and we're trying to see if there is a connection between that attempted abduction and LB's dissappearance by identifying the truck?? Or are we trying to ID the three guys? Does the truck that the "ugliest MOFO in town" got out of fit the same description as the one the girl gave of the truck the three guys were driving??

Sorry there are so many questions....I've re-read and tried to keep up, but I'm having some trouble because there have been so many different SO's, names, vehicles discussed in these threads that I'm having trouble keeping it straight.....but leave no stone un-turned, right? :) I want to try and help out....but you guys are much better than I am at finding useful information and seem to be able to research stuff a million times faster than I can, LOL!

You just reminded me of a television show I watched once....forget the name of it. They would set up different situations and see how people reacted. Once they showed a little girl (she was an actress) swinging in the park with a parent (actor/actress)....then they would have the parent leave after asking another parent (a real person) to watch their kid for a moment.... and THEN they had a guy the child didn't know (also an actor) walk up to her, start a conversation, and ask her to leave with him to "look for a dog"....they filmed the reactions that the REAL parents had (who were asked to watch the kid for a moment). Fortunately, almost every parent stepped in and refused to let the little girl walk away with the strange man.
They did a second variation of the scenario where the little girl already knew the guy who talked to her and asked her to look for the dog. He would walk up and say "Oh, hi (whatever her name was)....have you seen (name of dog)? I can't seem to find him." Then he would ask her to leave and help him look. Even when she already knew the guy, most of the parents refused to let the little girl out of their sight with the "stranger".
I wish I could remember the name of the show...sound familiar to any of you guys?

Not sure the name, but I have definitely seen similar shows. I've seen where they will have the parents inside their house, and the child is outside playing. Then, an actor will drive up and ask the child to help look for a dog, etc. It was surprising and sad how many children agreed to do so.

I am going to clarify what i meant by "a vehicle somewhat meeting the description"

The description KK gave (via kid(s)) was basically a clean white station wagon w/round headlights.

She may not have outright said 'station wagon but upon her description & discussion she reflected a likeness of that being accurate.

The pictures i took had a couple of conflicts with that description

1. It was not clean (in nearly any sense)
2. (closer to) Square Headlights.

- It was a white station wagon

I'd asked KK if the kid(s) possibly said 'round' because the headlights were on. This didn't seem to 'ring a bell.

Round headlights probably being the most telling.

I'd been off/on racking my brain on a round-headlight wagon.

I'm usually not bad w/identifying cars. It only occurred to me today what it might have been.

Not sure the name, but I have definitely seen similar shows. I've seen where they will have the parents inside their house, and the child is outside playing. Then, an actor will drive up and ask the child to help look for a dog, etc. It was surprising and sad how many children agreed to do so.

I saw a show like that once too. They also said that when you tell kids not to talk to "strangers" you need to be very specific on what a "stranger" means. They tend to think "Darth Vadar" or some scary person.

The man is described as a white male adult, about 50 years old. He was about 5' 8" tall, weighing about 150 lbs.

It's not illegal to approach someone and say "hey, I lost my dog do you mind helping me find it?" Just like it's not illegal to approach someone and ask for directions or what time it is.

It wouldn't have even been illegal if the child would have (willingly) gotten into the van with him. It becomes illegal if he doesn't let the child back out of the car or if he touches the child inappropriatly.

That is why we need to teach our children to never ever willingly get into a car with someone other than who we tell them to (even if they know them)

What is the implied message in that line? After reading the story you can take it a few ways, imo. They could doubt the girl's story or after the officer mentioned they found and talked to the man...he quickly added that phrase not to spook him. Perhaps they have surveillance on him now and it was said for that benefit.

I would consider it to be too much of a coincidence for him to drive a vehicle with that description, match the description the girl gave to LE, and have WA plates.

However, it wouldn't be entirely out of the question for the girl not to like him for some reason and to have made up the story to get back at him. If he lives nearby, she could have seen him several times to come up with all that information she provided to LE. (Not likely, imo.)

Morning Jvk, Thanks for your post this morning. I'm still a bit fuzzy from lack of sleep after a late night here, but am trying to understand you fully.

What she was describing was a SW like you have pictured in your post with round lights as she had described to you from what the kids said. But in acutality the car you photographed which prompted a stop and request so they could get a copy of it, was a SW that was dirty and with square headlights.

It could be the inconsistancy of her statement and the coincidence of that dirty SW pulling up and parking at the house of one of her neighbors that raised the eyebrow of the one who stopped you. They were possibly watching and waiting to get proof of the car this Mofo was driving. Or knew the car and wanted to see who is driving it around. ???

Thanks and if you want me to delete this post I will. xox

The photographing of the car had nothing to do with the (reason of the) stop. - I informed them.

The coincidence of the SW pulling up was a bit strange. (combined with the person who exited) - But that SW didn't fully match the description.

That station wagon was only there briefly, possibly dropping something off or getting something. - it wasn't quite clear what he was doing.

"But as of right now, they are not sure any crime has been committed."

Maybe there needs to be a Luring Law. Just like there are other laws based on intent, perhaps this needs to be made a crime. Anyone who is legitimately looking for a lost puppy or assistance of some sort wouldn't run or drive away. They'd stay and look for the puppy or seek assistance somewhere else nearby.

I mean if you can be arrested for stalking or have a restraining order thrown on you for no real reason, why not one for luring a child? No one lures a child into a situation with good intentions in these cases. By the time a crime is commited, the perp usually has them hidden from view and then it's too late.

Please don't quote this cause I am going to delete it. :)

There is also a Federal Luring Law. However, the way it is stated with the example may or may not apply to enticing them with a ruse to get them into a vehicle.

Luring any individual, including a child, by knowingly persuading, inducing, enticing or coercing any person to travel in interstate or foreign commerce to engage in prostitution or sexual activity that constitutes a criminal offense violates federal law. See 18 U.S.C. § 2422. An example of luring would occur if an adult found a child in a chat room and used email correspondence with the child to persuade the child meet him with the intent that the child engage in sexual activity.

Whether this was a shade of imagination (kids) with a side of heightened * i'm not sure.

jvk, thanks for your sleuthing and sharing so much of what you have discovered. I do have a couple of questions for you:

Did that car have any damage or repairs done to it?

Have you done any research on the resident of the house the car stopped at? If they own the house you can get a name from the property records and then search to see if they have relatives mentioned in obituaries, etc.

Is there any way to determine whether or not this is one of those houses with a basement? Property tax records should show that.

I'd be especially freaked out if it was a square-edged older vehicle, with something unusual about the body and if the driver were visiting or living with his mother in a house with a basement. I know you can't disclose much to us, but I would be going crazy trying to find out more about this guy.

It would have been nice to even get a confirmation e-mail back from sending the info/pictures in.

I have not personally done any research on this person or the house he stopped at. - I do not believe he is a/the resident.

No idea on basement.

As far as damage to the vehicle.. nothing severely/obvious that i noticed.

Since i've had no direction from LE it's been up to my discretion on what to say.

I really don't mean to be vague - It's between comfort & judgment at the moment

Hey I got some additional info from KK on the bike situation involving the brother that some of you have been asking about.

The bike that the kids were fighting over was actually not ride-able. It did not have a chain on it so Lindsey had actually been pushing herself along on the bike and then decided she no longer wanted to so she dropped it at the Shell station off to the side of the gas pumps closest to the police station. The argument actually stemmed over who was going to take it home her or Josh. Needless to say neither wanted to - hence the fight.

I wonder though if it would have altered her route enough to go around the north side of the Shell Station vs the south side which would have been her normal path? I also wonder if the bike was in line of sight of the camera there? If it was and she was not in the video from the pump camera, at least we could eliminate the bike as being an object of deviation from her normal walk home.

Her brother is an avid bike rider according to his mother. Why would he leave his bike by the Shell station so he cannot ride it to "go look for Lindsey"? It is obviously fixed now so I am curious to know when he really got back and who fixed it. If the chain was simply falling off or if it broke entirely is another question.

Why would Lindsey push a broken bike around town? Why not drop it immediately where it broke or take it home since it was only half a block? When and why did she leave it at the station?

I am going to suggest one possibility for that. From Lindsey's house and down through Maple, there is a slight incline towards KK's. You probably can't see it in the photos, but it's there. Lindsey could have coasted all the way to KK's house, then pushed it back as far as the Shell Station and simply grew tired, then told her brother where it was so he could push it the rest of the way home.

The incline increases from the Shell Station to Lindsey's house, maybe that was as far as she could push it and felt by leaving it there, it was relatively safe from theft being next door to the police station.

I don't know if the chain was off, missing or broken. Seems if it was hanging there, her brother could have and probably knows how to realign it onto the sprocket. So that leads me to believe it was broken and could have been missing too.

I've always assumed, and merely my assumption, that Lindsey had taken the bike and it broke and the brother was upset with her about it. I figure it was broken enough that once Lindsey went missing, the brother didn't care since he knew it needed repairs in order to ride it to look for her. MOO

And see...to me this makes absolutely no sense.

I don't know.. I grew up in a poor family. We had limited resources when it came to entertaining ourselves. My brothers and I used to push each other around on our broken bikes, even wheel barrows when times were really tough.

One year we used an old wagon with the axles removed as a sled in the snow.

ETA: I am in no way saying that Lindseys family is poor. I know nothing about their finances. I was just saying that when a kid is bored they will find a way to entertain themselves. Pushing around a broken bike is really not that odd when you have nothing else to do. Who knows if it broke while L was on it, or if it had broken months before. The fact is.. the bike (for whatever reason) was left at the Shell. For how long? No one really knows.

I had a son who rode a broken bike because I don't think he even realized it was broken! I gave all the mechanical ability genes to his older brother!

So you are saying she was at KK's house earlier that day? The bike never made it to KK's for the last trip as the fight happened behind the Shell station where it evidently was left by both of them.

I don't know SS. I was just trying to relate one possibility of why she was on a broken bike at all. Also I am not suggesting a timeline or when during the day that might have taken place.

They don't live there any more.
It used to be a trailer park.. but as you can see from the pictures in the link below.. it's gone.

Watch those search sites, Norm! I paid for one to find my ex for child support and the only info it gave me was stuff that he did BEFORE I ever met him!

Any of the above scenarios related to the bike are possible, clearly the bike may have inspired some really nasty feelings between LB and JB, the exact method perhaps isn't as important as the negative sibling rivalry that resulted.

Kim, I've already figured that out.

I should know better, I've been dumped on with a number of "only today" offers with photography. Clearly the "dump ground" extends beyond video and photography into the sleuthing domain.

I'd love to be able to clear him completely, but I continue to be nagged by the "juvie" stuff. I have had experience with kids who have behavior problems, I worked with one individual, a teen, who one day could be so polite, in control, and helpful, then the next day he was the complete opposite, everything setting him off, even the slightest things. On those days he could be quite physical with peers, and the next day he'd be apologizing profusely.

I guess kids do things to entertain themselves that we as adults would never consider. I recall turning the bike upside down and spinning the tires for a long time for no apparent reason. LOL

PS - I really like your Sandra Cantu portrait, really excellent.Off Topic: Thanks~ It was the photo of Sandra with a pair of shoes in her hands and someone in the background on a sofa. I loved the photo because she looks so angelic with the light hitting her face so I manipulated it into a mist or a cloud type background. I can't stand clutter in a photo. ;)

Paypal is too easy. I don't do the paid sites. I use Veromi.net or other free ones.
