I've seen Guan spelled as Juan in other articles. I wonder if the first was a typo? I have never seen Guan as a name before?

Prayers that this baby is found safe and sound.

I wondered the same. You're not talking about the name in general, right, but that you have seen it spelled Juan in articles referring to this particular child? Aggravating when significant details aren't verified prior to publishing. I understand the rush to break news about a missing child, but is it really so difficult to get the important things right initially?

Guan is spelled the same way as the father who has taken him, Guan.

A couple of forums have spelled it Juan.

But the alert says the child is not in danger, they just want to reunite him with his mother.
Then why is there an amber alert?

Still seeing names spelled Guan and not Juan, even in this more recent article, but will change ASAP if error is confirmed.

You're getting better info than I am, though I haven't been able to sleuth to any degree. I had to contact the first news agency which broke the news because they had not provided ANY description of the individuals involved nor of the surrounding circumstances. I assumed the alleged abductor was the bio-father because of the name and custody issue, but your post is the first confirmation of it. Your post is the first I have heard of an amber alert as well. Thank you and a thumbs up icon to you if I could find it!

I think this thread title was near another that had Amber or Amber Alert in the title. Eyes just playing tricks on you. I thought I saw that once myself yesterday.

Mother of the child says Gomez is a violent man. Family wonders why an Amber Alert hasn't been issued. LE claims no imminent danger, etc.; therefore, situation doesn't meet criteria of AA.

Gomez's name is on birth certificate, so LE has identified him as the father. Mother says he is not. She thinks he is still in Montgomery, AL. LE reports he has ties to Birmingham, AL, too--and, you guessed it, Mexico. Valuable time wasted.

Don't currently have video or article of the recent news report above to post.

Baby Missildine returned safe and sound to mother! Perhaps Mr. Gomez heard he may not be the bio-father after all. In any case, he attempted to return the child to the mother's apartment(?)or apt complex this morning at 2 a.m., 8/21/09, unsuccessfully, so he left the child with a security guard and said he was headed to FL.

I think it makes all the difference in the world that we're getting this info dispersed quickly and nationally/internationally. Even if a child is supposedly "not in danger" (though this status can accelerate quickly, even with a parental abductor), a parent with control issues snatching their "property" might think twice if he/she hears that the word is out and their are potentially alert eyes/ears wherever they may go.

Thanks for your time and concern WS!
