What do we know about this business and Jaycee's role?
"Garrido's business, "Printing for Less," catered to small businesses. He ran it out of his home in Antioch, east of San Francisco. His customers say he did good work and had much lower prices than competition."

FYI - Jaycee's Mom worked as a graphic designer for a print company when Jaycee was abducted. Jaycee must of inherited her Momma's talent.

Ben Daugdrill, who used to run the hauling business now owned by J.P. Miller,
He said Allissa did all of the graphic design and he did all of the printing," said J.P. Miller, who hired Garrido this month to advertise his Orinda-based company, A&J Hauling.

"emails sent to Daughdrill, allegedly from Jaycee, are compact, and using lowercase letters throughout. They also contain a few spelling errors.
One email, sent in May 2007, reads: 'i will take a look at the price sheet and send you over a copy of the revised brochure tomorrow. as to the pictures sorry ... but we don't have a digital camera ... hopefully you can find a way to get me those pictures you want so i can add them to them brochure.
'i can get the brochures to you pretty fast within the week of final approval of the brochures. How many are you going to order and do you want them on glossy or matte paper, thick or thin?"
Daughdrill, who told CNN he met 'Allissa' on two occasions, said: 'Nothing stood out. Obviously there was some brainwashing going on. That's all I can think.
'She had access to a phone and a computer, so obviously something went on that no one knows about.'

Phillip Garrido bragged that "his daughter'' was the talent behind the graphic design and production at his family printing business, even introducing her to customers.
But it was his odd and escalating religious fervor that troubled those who knew Garrido, the registered sex offender now accused of abducting 11-year-old Jaycee Lee Dugard and holding her for 18 years.
Lovely children's designs decorated the receipts and envelopes made for a Pittsburg recycling center. They were done by his "daughter," Garrido proudly told Maria Christenson of Christenson Recycling Center.
"There was nothing weird with him at the beginning," recalled Christenson. "But I noticed a year ago he just went off the deep end."

Cheyvonne Molino had used Garrido as a printer for her and her husband's wrecking business for several years, and had recently seen him preaching from a tent near their wrecking yard.

"Sometimes when I go there, she comes out with the work, wearing gloves, with ink all over her clothes," said long-time customer Deepal Karunaratne, about Jaycee, now 29. The realtor often picked up his orders at the Garridos' Antioch-area house. "He introduced her to me as his daughter."
Wayne Thompson, owner of Wayne's Barbershop on Railroad Avenue in Pittsburg, cut Garrido's hair. Garrido did Thompson's printing for years until one day Thompson was leafing through a binder full of sex offender notices at his daughter's karate school and came across Garrido's photo.
Various Stories:
From Daily Record 8/31/2009
Kidnap victim Jaycee Lee Dugard helped run business for abductor (http://www.dailyrecord.co.uk/news/uk-world-news/2009/08/31/kidnap-victim-jaycee-lee-dugard-helped-run-business-for-abductor-86908-21637091/)
From The Sun (http://www.thesun.co.uk/sol/homepage/news/2614821/Jaycee-became-second-wife-to-captor-Phillip-Garrido.html)
Snipped for length:
Meanwhile, customers of Garrido's printing business have revealed Jaycee showed no signs of distress - and regularly answered the phone.
Ben Daugdrill bought flyers and business cards from the sex monster.
And when he visited the home to pick up orders, the youngster - who was introduced to him as Garrido's daughter "Alissa" - would even run out of the house UNACCOMPANIED to greet him.
He said: "The times I spoke to her on the phone, she was always very polite and very good natured. There was never any reason to think anything was wrong.
"She was just like any other secretary in any other office.
"Sometimes I would hear Phillip in the background interacting with Alissa. It all seemed very normal.
"On occasions when I would stop by to pick something up, she would bring my cards or flyers out to me.''

Yes that seemed odd to me too. I think she learned how to keep herself alive and that included earning money. Phil wasn't going to give her a digital camera.
If she could email, he would have access to the internet. With his sexual addiction he had to be online. I hope the FBI has seized the computer.
I wonder if anyone had asked to look at the headers for the email the customer received. It would have his I.P. address.
For that matter I wonder if anyone has checked his blog for the I.P/ address?

Does anyone know if he had a business license? If he paid taxes? Unemployment?
While I'm asking - did he or his family receive any funds from the government? Like food stamps or medicaid? SS?
What was his and Nancy's occupations? Did they file IRS taxes on a yearly basis?
How'd they pay for things? Check, charge, cash?
Who were their vehicles registered to?
Whose name was phone, elec, gas?

Good info in your whole post. That is really neat that her mom had the same occupation. I'm skipping ahead to a long term happy ending here, but wouldn't it be wonderful if Jaycee and her mother could eventually have a graphic design business together? At first I was thinking to myself that I wasn't sure whether it would be a good idea to work in an area that might bring back bad memories. But, she obviously has talent and with her mother in the same field, she could really turn her design talent into something positive.

I was just thinking that maybe the reason that he went into this printing/graphic design business is Jaycee might have told him what her mother did for a living and he immediately put her to work doing the same thing for him. I mean, seriously, it's so interesting that he just randomly went into a business in which she would possibly have a natural talent or affinity. Sorry, I'm stuck on the paralell between her mother's occupation and what Jaycee ended up doing.

Ok, Mr Print manager, where do you think he housed the printers? How large of a printer would he of had to have?
Who'd he buy it from? Where'd he order his supplies?
What did he do with the chemicals?
I watched Larry King last night and the friend said there's 4,000 sq ft inside of the house.
Anyone think it's funny Garrido would have all that space and then lives in a shack next door?

I don't think he would have needed a lot of equipment. Maybe just a computer or two and a couple of printers, and good printing software. I print stuff all the time using my computer and printer and it looks terrific with the proper program. He'd spend most of his cash for various types of paper and ink. From the looks of his house, the stuff was probably stored under and beside all the junk.
The larger stuff, like posters, he could have had printed elsewhere, and just slightly raised the prices on that to cover his cost. He was obviously making the majority of his money on simple things like flyers, business cards, envelopes and letterheads, all things easily done on a computer at home.

That link for Printing For Less above isn't for PG's business. The business at that link is in Montana and appears very nice and large, not what PG was doing. His was a small time operation. Now the blogspot link is definitely his, it even has phillip in the name. Go figure.

His clients said he would come out with large rubber gloves covered in ink.
In Jaycee's email she asks about the different thicknesses of paper. The customers made it sound like he had a press.
Many of the chemicals used in the printing industry are potential hazards to human health and the environment.
His mind and those living in that house have probably been effected by breathing those chemicals for how many years.
The parole officer never looks into the felon's work or check to see if it's a legit business? Where did he house the press? In the house? How did he dispose of the toxic chemicals used in printing and cleaning a press? How could there have been proper ventilation to safely run a press inside a house?

Maybe he did have a press. I'm sure we'll find out. Just think of all the junk he could store in 4000 sq. ft. We know he liked to collect junk.
I read there were blood stains all over - on the floor, on the walls, in the tents. Could that have been ink? Or was it really blood? Ugh. Too nasty to even think about. One can only imagine the horror.

The reason for posting this link http://www.printingforless.com/ was my initial impression of his business. It's pretty obvious that he did not run a full printing business out of his home. I think Ms Molina is an opportunist and not to be trusted. She and her hubby are in hot water with their bad business practices. Funny how the photos of the girls showed up in the UK. Wonder if she sold them?
But on the other hand I wouldn't be surprised if he was so bold to put her photos on the cards. He is a psychopath and blamed the rape of Katie on her being beautiful!
I think we'll be hearing more and more from the Molina's, hopefully it'll help more than hurt and convict the SOB.

The more I think about the fact that this monster had a printing business in his house of horrors. The madder I get.
What was his parole officer thinking? A sex criminal on life parole in the printing business. His early cards featuring his child sex-slave photo and she runs the business.
18 years it takes until 2 Berkley female cops (God Bless Them) notice something wrong?
Who was this jerk and why hasn't he been fired? Instead of being commended on Larry King?!

I am so touched by what I have seen of Jaycee's personality and her spirit. For 18 years, there was a consistent attack on her mind, soul and body, and yet she emerges as a wonderful girl with such talents. I was so happy to see that she is an avid reader. I cried when I saw the little ways she tried to make that hellhole home. It sounds like she put her heart and soul into that printing business, and I hope that she got some satisfaction out of her work, which, admittedly, was slave labor.
In any case, I am intrigued by the photo "she" (I imagine it was Jaycee) chose for the blogspot ad.

I think you'll agree with me it's a very "80's" image, and thus quite au courant nowadays, when there's an interest in 80's style. But more than that, I think that there is such a sadness in the model's eyes. The lashes are spiky, made that way with false lashes and mascara, but the clumpiness almost makes it look like she's been crying. It would seem from the books in Jaycee's tent camp home that she was interested in nature, in gardening, in birds, etc. Here, the model is like a shy but beautiful woodland creature, covered in leaves. Such parallels to the heartbreakingly sad, hidden life of Jaycee and her beautiful babies.

Jaycee was able to stay alive and found a way to still connect to her old self prior to the kidnapping.
She remembered Momma. I know her Momma searched for her and was devastated for years. I am so happy they are finally together again. I know they'll help heal each other.

I agree about the sad look, that's why before it was revealed to be a stock photo, I was afraid he'd dolled up Jaycee to look like that, except if she's blonde, she wouldn't have such dark eyebrows without extensive makeup.

It certainly does look like it could be Jaycee, and is a beautiful girl. If it's not her I suppose she or garrido may have chosen it because it "looked" like her - didn't someone say she aspired to be a model or something? If there are pics of models that look just like her, that would be an encouragement for that kind of thinking.
ETA, I am actually half glad this guy showed the picture on the news because it keeps even sketchier people from getting big money for selling the pic to the tabloids for thousands. Of course I guess it doesn't keep this particular guy from doing so, but at least from this little clip it doesn't look like that was his intent.
Also, the article here is very important, I think: http://www.ocregister.com/articles/garrido-safety-children-2551103-child-gomes
Phillip Garrido once printed up a child safety tip sheet for a children's safety advocate, and threw in some extra advice on how kids could avoid kidnappers, according to a news report.
"Children's safety advocate Janice Gomes told a Sacramento CBS affiliate last night that she has known Garrido for 15 years and often hired him for child safety printing jobs.
Garrido, 58, has been charged with kidnapping Jaycee Lee Dugard 18 years ago and fathering two daughters with her.
Gomes told the station that when she hired Garrido to print up a child-safety tip sheet, he had an extra tip: "'Children really shouldn't be walking to the bus stop by themselves. Children are no match for adults,'" Gomes remembered him saying."
Because what I am thinking is this: what if Garrido didn't really SAY it to her, but it was just printed on the sheet?! If that is even possibly the case, I would say it may have come from Jaycee herself. Which is pretty huge. If she's putting her picture on his printings and saying things like that, it sounds like "FIND ME!" to me!

i have a few opinions on how the printing business could have started:
1) it could have existed before Jaycee was kidnapped (I doubt that)
2) it could have been started to print crazy religious ideas
3) Jaycee could have asked for it to do something like her mom did (I like that idea)
4) He could have known Jaycee's mom had a printing company and decided to copy it (could be his sweet story he claims to have, or it could be sick and twisted or both)
5) He could have made Jaycee work to support everyone (but how much business did he really do. He had 12 customers ever?)
Thoughts?

Gomes told the station that when she hired Garrido to print up a child-safety tip sheet, he had an extra tip: "'Children really shouldn't be walking to the bus stop by themselves. Children are no match for adults,'" Gomes remembered him saying."
Because what I am thinking is this: what if Garrido didn't really SAY it to her, but it was just printed on the sheet?! If that is even possibly the case, I would say it may have come from Jaycee herself. Which is pretty huge. If she's putting her picture on his printings and saying things like that, it sounds like "FIND ME!" to me!
bold by me... O.M.G. - that is truly horrifying if he really said that to her. his boldness is making me so angry!!!

Yes I agree but my point was what if he DIDN'T say it but if it was just PRINTED on the list, added by SOMEONE that maybe was actually JAYCEE?!

I listened t an interview with Gnomes on the radio today. he did solicite her business and it makes me wonder if he did that because she was in the business of finding missing children. She said he offered her tip about the bus stop as a suggestion to her safety list when she came in and was making some corrections on her dated missing children sheets.
She said his printing service was excellent and she always just thought he was weird, but he still did a good job.
She also said she used to have an office in the Contra Costa PD office for her task work. She said he came right in there to deliver things to her.
She also said she met him about 15 years ago after the birth of a daughter.
But she also said that he never mentioned his wife in any of their dealings.

Unbelievable!
So very ironic. He even gave them advice on their child safety sheet!
He printed Gomes' business cards for 15 years and created fliers for her nonprofit work with the National Community Empowerment Program.
On a job in 2000, a kidnapping-prevention fact sheet, Garrido chimed in with suggestions for Gomes.

"He said kids walking in groups wouldn't prevent a kidnapping because the kidnapper is just going to pick one and make his move," Gomes said.
This is from the article in the Contra Costa Times.
Since the "tip" about not allowing your child to go go to the bus stop alone was directly related to his personal history, could this "tip" be related as well?
Do we know anything about a prior victim that was abducted while walking in a group of kids?

Does anyone know if he had a business license? If he paid taxes? Unemployment?
While I'm asking - did he or his family receive any funds from the government? Like food stamps or medicaid? SS?
What was his and Nancy's occupations? Did they file IRS taxes on a yearly basis?
How'd they pay for things? Check, charge, cash?
Who were their vehicles registered to?
Whose name was phone, elec, gas?
They probably received some sort of money for taking care of his mother. In California, the state will pay a family member for in-home care instead of a nurse.

well what is kind of interesting about that is, I listened to an interview with Ms Gomes the lady the runs the missing kids foundation that had printing done by PG. During the interview, she was explaining how it came to be that she got to talking to PG about her brochures. She brought back her printing in the first place to update her information, but she also said there were several words spelled wrong. She said she told Jaycee about them, she apologized and had them redone perfectly. So misspelling words was seemingly not unusual for this printer. But at the same time, he was supposedly known for very high quality printing at low prices.

What do we know about this business and Jaycee's role?
THANKS for this thread because I think about her all the time and how she managed to do productive things, and teach her daughters to read and write.
I have been very impressed with Jaycee having been able to dig deep inside and find her creative source, being able to go on doing something like "Creative Director" learning computer etc....I think her bio Mom was in that business...and somehow she managed to hold on to a part of her past that way. I am totally impressed with Jaycee. Bless her heart.

If you read his manifesto/blogs he doesnt really misspell much other than use the wrong spelling sometimes when there are two words that sound the same. Jaycee's e-mails on the other hand are not like that, so that typo (and the printing ones mentioned) may well be hers. Which is not surprising since her education was essentially that of a 10 year old, and she likely didnt write at all for a few years after her abduction. Philip's written work generally seems well written (allthough nutty).

I thought I saw 16 years mentioned somewhere.
Jaycee's mom was in the printing business when Carl first met her (according to him) but she might not have been doing that afterwards. I think she is some sort of school administrative assistant now.
It is more probable that Philip started the printing business, and Jaycee was recruited to help out as she was growing up. In a way it would have served his agenda quite well, because it would have created a connection and purpose that would have kept her linked to the family. It would have made her feel valuable and helped solidify the bond between her and Philip.
And btw, being involved in the business probably played a big role in keeping her reasonably well grounded, if she hadn't been doing that she would most likely have been a crazy lady chained up in the back yard when they found her.

Has anyone else wondered if the printing business may have been a way to advertise something else more sinister?
The picture (which was said to be Jaycee but not proven) sure looked like an advertisement for a mens club - more so then an advertisement for low cost printing.
I am curious to see some of their work and where did they had it printed? At home on their home printers? An actual press? On-line to a bigger printer?
What kind of turn over did they do?
I am very suspicious that this business did much more than your regular print shop would.
Did it have any connection to the girls he had or the parties he's been reported to have?

Great points and questions.
If you look at Phillip Garrido's blog, I think you will see examples of the printing. Just scroll down, and there are business cards. I bet his company did them.
http://voicesrevealed.blogspot.com/
If you look through pictures of the yard and home, you will see cartons that held paper and also boxes that once held printers. These LOOK to be small printers, not what you might consider professional, large size printers capable of doing major printing jobs. This is just my opinion; I have not worked in a print shop, but in offices where there was lots of printing done.
I don't believe the printing entailed embossing or engraving or more high-end, complex printing, like multi-page brochures that required binding, but that which could be done with a color printer.
Interesting comment about Garrido's business card!

Garrido did printing work for foundation to keep kids safe
By Hilary Costa
Contra Costa Times

After decades working with criminals and gang members as a youth counselor and child safety advocate, Janice Gomes says her instincts about people are usually pretty good.
But Phillip Garrido had her fooled.
He printed Gomes' business cards for 15 years and created fliers for her nonprofit work with the National Community Empowerment Program.
On a job in 2000, a kidnapping-prevention fact sheet, Garrido chimed in with suggestions for Gomes.
"He said, 'Children should never go to a bus stop alone,'" Gomes said. "He said what were his exact words 'They're no match for an adult.'"
*snip*
Gomes said Garrido went on to dispel the idea that children are safer traveling in groups.
"He said, 'If an adult approaches a group, they all scatter and you just grab one. That's all you want anyhow.'"
Gomes, who was named Oakley's Citizen of the Year in 2002 for her advocacy work, said she didn't find Garrido's comments alarming at the time.
"I've never gotten the impression anyone I'm talking to is talking from experience," she said. "This has just made me sick."
But she did observe the same bizarre behavior in Garrido that others recall: creepy or uncomfortable, but not dangerous. He would begin singing in the middle of conversations and in hindsight his song choice was chilling.
Gomes remembers him singing Madonna, including her hit "Like a Virgin."
"That's really freaky now when you think of it," she said. "'Touched for the very first time?' That's just sickening."
But Gomes liked Garrido's work so much his low prices didn't hurt that she overlooked his oddness, as well as the frequent spelling mistakes that appeared on business cards. Manager became "mangager" and safety was "saftey".
Gomes said Allissa, the professional-sounding woman who answered Garrido's phone, was always apologetic about the mistakes and rushed to fix them.
*snip*
Gomes, who has done work over the years with Marc Klaas, father of kidnap and murder victim Polly Klaas, also referred Garrido's services to family members periodically. On Aug. 24, two days before his arrest, Garrido dropped off business cards at her daughter's house while Gomes' 16-year-old granddaughter was there.
"He starts singing to her, scares her half to death, and said 'Why don't you come over to my house Wednesday night for Bible study,'" Gomes said. "That was two days before he was arrested. Apparently, God didn't tell him he was being arrested on Wednesday."
http://www.apimages.com/Search.aspx?sh=10&st=k&remem=x&kw=A%26S+TRANSMISSION&intv=None
From the AP Images website, you can see a photograph of Andy Dryer of A&S Transmission holding up the business card Garrido's print shop made for him. Fairly simple. The racing flags are a nice touch.
From the AP article on print shop clients http://hosted.ap.org/dynamic/stories/U/US_KIDNAPPED_GIRL_FOUND_BUSINESSMAN?SITE=OHCIN&SECTION=AMERICAS&TEMPLATE=DEFAULT, which you might have read elsewhere:
"I heard him talking about God, but he wasn't talking about the God I knew," said Andy Dryer, who owns A&S Transmission in Antioch.
Dryer worked on Garrido's car a handful of times over last four years and bought business cards from him for about two years. From Dryer's shop, about two blocks from Garrido's house, he can see the trees that shrouded the backyard compound where authorities say Garrido kept Dugard captive.
Dryer said Garrido asked him and his wife to attend a church service at his house, but they did not go.
"It was like he was doing his own cult or something," Dryer said.

I don't think he was a printer. All you have to do is get a reseller's license in California, and poof you're a wholesaler. Printing alone is not super profitable, but it's a nice addition to other income. (I resell printing for my own clients, and have been working with other people who do this for almost 6 years) Just google "wholesale printers" and you'll see how easy the larger print houses make it to sell for them.
I was wondering though if it was even that advanced, or if they were just selling vista print cards that have templates at a mark up.
It'd be interesting to see if everyone came to get their cards or if they were drop shipped from the real printer.

Customers said Garrido's behavior struck them as strange but not threatening. They continued to use his services because his prices were low, and because they found they could deal easily with "Allissa," who seemed normal.
When Garrido delivered printed materials or picked up checks, he would often arrive with two younger girls, who he would introduce as his daughters. They would stay close to their father and said little, customers say. MBB

I don't think it was even that sophisticated... if you look at the national Printing For Less website, you see many options available for ordering printed materials from mockups that you post yourself:
http://www.printingforless.com/Card-Printing.html
In other words, it's a franchise system...
So I think all they did was mock up the card, brochure, etc, then when the customer said it was ok they sent it in for printing. The Garrido's would get it back in a week and take it over to them. You only need small printers to print the mockups - everything else comes from the national office.

Are you sure they are the same company? The national franchise one is "Printing FOR Less" and the one PG ran was "Printing 4 Less".
Still, doesn't seem to be enough to support a whole family, even with limited expenses...

The graphic work was always lovely -- even childlike, one customer recalled. Kids' designs decorated the receipts and envelopes for one customer, a Pittsburg, Calif., recycling center.
You don't get ink all over you when you're working with just a laser printer and scanner. So they must have had some kind press or something. I hadn't seen this article before and I couldn't find it in the media one. Though this is from the NY Post, it references information from a Santa Cruz newspaper. This article really makes me wonder, just how many people actually saw and talked with Jaycee, not the daughters. There are two listed in this article alone and most of them talk about how bubbly and happy she seemed, and so far all of them have said that Jaycee was introduced as his daughter. Do we have a place that just lists people who saw who when here? No discussion, just lists? Not sure if it's relevant at this point, just wondering.
(Just correcting my post, because this article only really says "one" customer saw her, don't know if the Pittsburg recycling center saw her.)

This is the article that states that the barber had not seen Jaycee for several years and that pg told him the picture was his daughter. Answers a previous question on the threads as to whether he said it was Jaycee or if pg did.
>snip<
Thompson is Wayne Thompson, owner of Wayne's Barbershop in Pittsburg. Although the Enquirer has a policy of paying sources for stories, Thompson said he had given the card to the tabloid for free. He said he hadn't seen Dugard in recent years and had told the Enquirer as much.
"I was told it was her by Phillip," Thompson said. "He said he put his daughter's picture on the card to show what he could do with photos."'
Thanks Natal.
To finish my thought here and take it one step further, this should not lead to discounting his sighting of the two younger girls that pg took to the barber shop. He didn't say the picture was Jaycee, pg did. (Well Alyssa, you know what I mean, I hope)

Pure speculation here: Do you think there could be more than one "Allissa"?

I don't know how probable that is, but it certainly would have allowed Garrido to obscure things and make it easier on himself. Others might not differentiate between one blondish woman/girl of similar age and another. It sounds like some freaky thing someone like it might do.

:waitasec: You just made me wonder..... Why did Phillip rename Jaycee, Alissa? To help hide her identify of course, I figure that, but why the name "Alissa"? Was there a significant Allissa in his past somewhere, high school girl friend? A previous victim? Are there any missing children named Alissa? The girl on the business card, could she really be a person named Alissa? People usually spend a lot of time in determining their children's name and it usually has some sort of significance. Hmmmmm?
Good thought - When is the first time that Garrido refers to his daughter as Alissa (although let's not include what Patricia said?)

Exactly. Was the girl on the business card really "Allissa" and he called Jaycee that too? Was Allissa a generic name for victims, or something like that?

I know you said barring patricias input, but it is interesting that she states that is how Jaycee was introduced to her. Do I think she knew who alissa was? Yes, but I think by introducing her as alissa, pg was trying to spare patricia culpability. This doesn't work when the person in question is on reasonably sane mind and knows the difference between right and wrong.
Looked up the name Alissa, Alyssa, just for fun on wikipedia and got this:
The name Alyssa comes from the name of the flower Alyssum. The name of the flower derives from the Greek roots a- ("not") and lyssum (insane); the flower was formerly thought to cure skin diseases. It has also been said that the name may mean "rational" or "noble." Alissa/Alisa and Elissa (in Arabic script: اليسار, اليسا and عليسا) are variations of the name of Queen Elissa, the founder of Carthage and is used in Middle Eastern countries.
I know she says that and maybe she never knew her real name. But, I thought if we knew who was the first outside person to be told his daughter was Alissa, that might give a different timeframe to it, e.g., maybe there was an Alissa between 1991 and when he told the first outside person.

If I remember correctly, Janice Gomes' son also met her, but I can't find the link to where I read that.

In Plain Sight: Jaycee Dugard (http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/33062980/ns/dateline_nbc-crime_reports/page/4/)
Page 4
"Janice Gomes: Phillip had a very jumpy personality.
Janice Gomes opened a window cleaning business, and was also a loyal Garrido customer. Quirks and all.
Janice Gomes: And he told me that his daughter was helping in the business. And I'm thinking, why is he using a six-year-old to make my business cards? They keep coming back misspelled.
But the girl was not six. She was much older, and was in fact, Jaycee, now known as Alyssa, as Gomes's son once learned during a rare visit to Garrido's house here on Walnut Avenue, where the printer introduced him to a pretty blond girl.
Janice Gomes: He said, that's my daughter Alyssa. But she didn't make eye contact with my son like Help me. She didn't act like she was worried or scared or fearful."
