I don't understand why this one didn't get the Amber Alert if they have a description of a car. Also I'm about 20 miles from Cleveland and this was the first I've heard of this story. Guess I should watch the news more often.

I've looked at every link offered here and haven't seen one picture of the missing child. Wouldn't it be common sense to publicize her image, or am I missing something?

There definitely should have been a picture. This seems to be happening a lot lately with some of these cases. The newspapers aren't including even at least one picture.
There is a poster of her. I put in her name and the Ohio Missing Children's Clearinghouse has a poster.

Family Members Want To Know Why No Alert For Missing 11-Year-Old

CLEVELAND HEIGHTS, Ohio -- A 14-year-old girl is found safe Sunday after an Amber Alert was issued.

Amanda Mullikin-White was found only hours after the alert was issued for her by Cleveland Heights Police.

Officers said that she hid out voluntarily in a Cain Park instead of going home late.

Meanwhile, the parents of missing 11-year-old Shakira Johnson want to know why an Amber Alert was not issued for her.

Cleveland Police said it's because there was no evidence or indication that Shakira was abducted.

The little girl has been missing for more than two weeks. If you have any information, call Crime Stoppers at (216) 252-7463

"The man is described as having dark black skin, a low haircut and a trim beard. He is reportedly between the ages of 20 and 30 and was driving a red older-model four-door Toyota.

The car they were looking for in Shakira's case was a 1990s bright red, four-door 1990s Ford Escort or Mercury Tracer.

Those cars look very similar, and this happened only three blocks from where Shakira was last seen.

I've watched the news on this a lot this evening. The coroner has told Shakira's family that they are sure it is her. However, DNA will absolutely establish this. But, everything about the body points to the fact that it is her.

The Mayor went to see the family. Just from watching the people that were questioned about this, I believe there is going to be an outcry like none before over this. Why no Amber Alert? In all that I watched this evening, that was never brought up. Not once.

Her poor mother is devistated.

CLEVELAND -- It's all but certain that the child's body found in a field Wednesday morning is Shakira Johnson, the 11-year-old girl who disappeared last month.

As of today's autopsy they are certain it's an 11 yr old female and some clothing is similar to what Shakira was wearing that day.

I feel so badly for her family. I read an article saying that Shakira's mother was baptised last night. Every parents worst nightmare, but no one can even imagine the pain Shakira's parents are living through....

The suspect (acquitted) in Shakira's murder, Daniel Hines, was arrested last Thursday for raping another 14 yr old girl. I can't find anything but video on the case right now.

Daniel Hines, the Cleveland man acquitted in December 2004 of the murder of 11-year-old Shakira Johnson, was arrested Thursday on a warrant accusing him of raping a 14-year-old Cleveland girl.

and

Hines was the only suspect in the 2003 kidnapping, rape, murder and dismemberment of Shakira, whose body was found about a month after her disappearance in a field on East 71st Street.

Hines maintained his innocence, and accused police, then-Mayor Jane Campbell and Cuyahoga County prosecutors of persecuting him.

Hines was also accused of trying to rape a 13-year-old cousin a few weeks before Shakira's disappearance, and spent 20 months in jail during his trial before being cleared of that crime as well. Several of his young relatives accused him of raping the 13-year-old girl, then assaulting her 14-year-old brother and a family friend when they intervened.
