Michael Jackson's THIS IS IT will offer Jackson fans and music lovers worldwide a rare, behind-the-scenes look at the performer as he developed, created and rehearsed for his sold-out concerts that would have taken place beginning this summer in London's O2 Arena. Chronicling the months from April through June, 2009, the film is produced with the full support of the Estate of Michael Jackson and drawn from more than one hundred hours of behind-the-scenes footage, featuring Jackson rehearsing a number of his songs for the show.
The film will be distributed worldwide by Sony Pictures Releasing. Tickets for the limited two-week engagement of the film go on sale beginning September 27.

What I'm wondering is what about those of us who don't get to see it during that time frame. I'm assuming it will be available on DVD? Outrageously priced, I'm sure, but I really do want to see this something fierce. He looks awesome in it.
(side note) Man, those dancers last nite totally recreated his videos...was amazing.

I would so love to see this film as I'm certain it will prove that Michael was still magic personified, but I'm not sure I'm ready for it yet. I think I would spend the entire time in the auditorium just weeping for what could have, and likely would have, been some of the best years of his life yet to come - to see his children grow up and have little ones of their own, to hang up his dancing shoes and venture into film production as he said he would like to, to live the rest of his days peacefully and maybe to finally find a good woman who would love him for himself, and who knows, the liars who made his life a living hell for so many years may even have discovered a conscience and asked his forgiveness.
I think I'll have to wait and hope the film is eventually released on DVD. I might be ready for it then.

I went to the "this is it" website that was shown at the very end of the video trailer above. If you click on "remind me" (when tickets go on sale), after you enter your email address, you can check "Please notify me on news about the Michael Jackson's This Is It Blu-rayTM and DVD." So, it will be on dvd. But I can't wait for that, i've gotta see it in the theater!

Well said Devon and I totally agree with you about everything you just stated, I think it would be really hard to watch, the trailer is tough to watch knowing he won't be making any more music and what a waste of genius just gone.

Seeing him everywhere, so ALIVE, just makes everything so surreal. I can't help but wait for him to pop up somewhere saying "This IS the greatest comeback EVER". I know that's not the case, but how can this unparalleled, magical, untainted GENIUS just never be coming back.
I just STILL haven't grasped it, what is WRONG with me?

Nothing is wrong with you. I feel the same way. I think it's because everything he went through was so unfair... I will wait and watch it when it comes out on DVD. I want to watch it alone.

Ocean, I am with you and most who posted here - I was watching Bucharest Live yesterday and the four last songs did me in - and I thought--How can I go to the theater to see this? I'd be a mess. I really have to think about that. From what I am hearing - the CD will go on sale October 27th (better to order it from "This is it" website - it is $19.99, but has 2 CDs, commemorative poster and more - the ones released to the stores will still be $17.99 - but no extras); the movie has been released for IMAX and I heard the DVD will be out December 17th.

'Michael Jackson's This Is It' Ticket Sales Break International Records
Documentary has sold out hundreds of screenings across U.S. a month before its release.
Even in death, Michael Jackson continues to be a guaranteed superstar. Just as the initial run of his planned concerts at the O2 arena in London sold out almost instantly earlier this year, the posthumous documentary about the King of Pop's preparations for that residency, "Michael Jackson's This Is It," has broken advance ticket sales records for a movie.
According to Reuters, hundreds of screenings in North America have already sold out, a month before the film's October 28 opening.
Among the cities with the strongest sales are Los Angeles, San Francisco, Houston and New York. Records were also set in Japan, where more than $1 million in tickets were sold on the first day they were available. In London, fans bought more than 30,000 tickets on the first day, eclipsing the advance interest in the "Harry Potter" and "The Lord of the Rings" films, which were wildly popular in Britain. Record sales were also reported in Holland, Sweden, Belgium and New Zealand.

We've learned Sony reps gave 60 tickets to Katherine Jackson's assistant last night at a special screening for the movie. We're also told Jackie Jackson, along with some of Michael's nieces and nephews, also attended and enjoyed it.
No word on why it took so long for the Jackson's to get the tickets, because Sony had been saying for more than a week they had already been delivered.
We're told Katherine and La Toya have both said they're not going to see the movie. We're told Michael's 3 kids want to see it.

When searching for our tickets, I found different pricing at various theatres and show times.
We are going to the matinee on Oct 28th, paying the same price as the senior discount for nighttime showings.

I saw IT! MJ looked better then he has in years, great really, thin but not in the face..The dancing & singing was very close to perfect..Everyone involved with concert was in awe of him & MJ was very kind & sweet to all!
It would have been a huge hit..I am sure of it!
The kids must be so proud of their dad!

I saw it this afternoon. I didn't think I was ready but it was pretty uplifting. People cheered and clapped in the theatre throughout the movie. The saddest thing was knowing throughout that this really was it. I can't imagine his singers and dancers being told the news he was gone. He is still an incredible genius, his voice is clear and strong and his dancing is still amazing!!
I was wondering if his kids ever saw a rehearsal or whether he was saving the surprise till the show. I'm glad for his children and family that this movie exists. I agree, they should be so proud of who he was and what he did.
I hope this movie shuts everyone up, all those who felt he couldn't do the show, he wasn't physically up to it, didn't want to do it,was washed out, strung out, anorexic and whatever else. But sadly, I know it won't.
It is clear that someone with this attention to detail and who wanted things to be so right had his whole heart in it.
RIP Michael, you are so missed.

If you can - go see it :) I took my son with me on the 2nd day it was out -- no problem getting tickets, and paid the same as I would any other movie. I'm not a huge MJ fan, but this movie really showed the magic that was MJ.
I even think Sony may keep it out a bit longer due to the demand (MOO).

A big fan told me the other day -- "he's the best that ever was, the best that ever will be -- the man in the mirror".
I think that sums it up pretty darn well ;)

We saw it Sat. and it was awesome! That would have been some show. He looked great I thought. When we got there when the 1st show was coming out there was a girl crying so I tried to comfort her. My BF asked me what the problem was and I told him she's sad.

We bought our tickets online and printed them at home so we could avoid the box office. Originally we selected the opening matinee on Oct 28 in downtown Santa Barbara. Instead we chose to go today for the morning show at an IMAX theatre in Camarillo (less than 40 miles away). I am very glad that we made the change and that the choice was available to us!
There we sat in the HUGE theatre...among a crowd of no more than a dozen people, including us. :-o It was almost like a private showing!
The movie was amazing, fantastic, outstanding, and well-worth the modest price. Highly recommended!

My daughter and I saw the movie today -- it is so awesome!! MJ looks, sounds and moves as if he were 20 yrs younger. Didn't look sick to us - he was fabulous. I hope everyone knows to stay past the credits - there are so many extra scenes and songs to watch. A lot of folks got up and left during the credits - too bad, they missed a lot. I want to see it again - it made me feel as if he is BACK!! and bigger than life! He truly is a one of a kind.

This movie was amazing. I didn't quite have a handle on how close to complete the rehearsals were....what an incredible concert this would have been. It was completely focused on the concert, no sad moments, no references to the tragic end. What a thrill to get to see a true genius at work. I'm so so so glad I got it see it.

This Is It! is in IMAX format, but better viewed at an IMAX theatre.
That said, if you attend one, here is a Cautionary Alert:
Wear earplugs during the Previews; or better yet, wait until they are finished before entering the theatre.
I am hard of hearing but the decibels were so up on those previews that the sounds were resonating through my body...kid you not. I think the experience could well damage ears far better than mine. It was painful!
(I know they had to calibrate the theatre before we could enter, and I am not sure that all IMAX theatres are the same in this regard.)
