...Alejandra Salcido, a junior at Canutillo High School, was last seen getting off a school bus in front of her school shortly before 8 a.m. Sept. 10. The teen phoned her mother about 5:20 p.m. and asked her to pick her up at school in 10 minutes...
...An hour later, Ariana Salcido and her husband, Enrique Salcido, received a telephone call from Alejandra's friend. The girl told them Alejandra had sent her a text message asking her to tell the Salcidos to pick her up in Northern Juárez near the U.S. Consulate General of Ciudad Juárez...
...The couple has repeatedly tried calling their daughter's cell phone but it goes straight to voicemail. They have returned to Juárez several times, desperately looking for their daughter or trying to find answers. Each time they visit the Northern area, hospitals, juvenile courts and the Red Cross...
...There have been rumors, she said, that Alejandra and other students from Canutillo were at a party in Juárez when they were supposed to be at school the day she disappeared.
School officials confirmed Alejandra didn't attend classes, Ariana Salcido said. But students refuse to say whether they were in Juárez or not...

My prayers to this family.
Mexican authorities refuse to take the case because she went missing in El Paso.
Myspace page set up to assist Alejandra's parents in finding her:

Alejandra's myspace page for herself is set to private, I am only posting it here so that we can watch the login status. Just in case.

That is all that I could find on this beautiful angel. Of course, there are posters at Topix spouting their usual banal garbage. <sigh>
Come home soon to your parents sweetie, they need you so much.

Hi Kat. Reading up on this pretty young lady that is missing. I saw that the looneys on topix are at it too, but did you see that one poster wrote suggesting an article in the LA Times. It is an interesting read:
http://www.latimes.com/news/nationworld/world/la-fg-juarez-missing9-2009aug09,0,4357807.story
I read it and it is very interesting and very scary. Hope this young lady is safe and I really hope she didn't go across the border like they believe.
Note: This snippet from the article especially caught my attention:
"Most of the young women are attractive, dark-haired and slender."

There are actually quite a few links to different sites about this story :( :(
and the area of lots of missing girls :(
This thought occurred to me when I read that Alejandra had possibly traveled to Juarez the day she disappeared.
I'm reading a book right now about these young women of Juarez that have disappeared and it's called "The Daughters of Juarez" I highly recommend it as a start to those cases.
As for right now, I'm even more concerned for Alejandra because Juarez has out of control violence right now because of a turf war going on with the cartels. Google the murder rate in that city, that alone will make your blood run cold.
Hopefully, Alejandra knows someone there and is staying for whatever reason with them.
I am hoping and praying she is a run away that doesn't realize how painful this is for her parents because she is so very young.
:praying: for Alejandra. Come home soon.
If her friends or family should read here, we care...we will watch...and we will pray.
Kat, Thank you for posting this, I received your message on myspace. I did set up a facebook account. I just read the article in the LA Times, and this is the first time that I'm actually crying. I want so desperatly to help this little girl and her family, and it seems like I'm fighting an uphill battle. I'm so glad you took the time to post this though because it just adds more fuel to my fire, to keep looking for her. Every little bit helps.

Welcome Drea. I'm so glad you came to join us.
I'm am optimistic too. I really think that Alejandra is somewhere and she is safe, and that she will be coming home.
She looks like a lovely young lady and I'm sure her parents are beside themselves with worry. I know I would be.
Don't cry. Alejandra and her parents need you. You are doing a great job.

That article is so scary. :(
And why aren't these families getting more help?????
I wondered this also, why did it take a week before the news ran an article on this missing girl? The Juarez police doesn't want to investigate because she turned up missing in El Paso so that leaves the EPPD, but are they in a quandary with no place to go?? This case seems to be at a stand still from the get go, seems like the family has had to do their own investigating. Note that they were not able to get any info from the kids that were questioned, it's like a gang mentality. No one seems to know anything. Very sad, I hope she's safe and holed up somewhere with a friend.

The above is an article that appeared in Spanish on the El Diario about Alejandra.
It is very brief and gives us no new information. (I translated it and read it).
At least Alejandra has been mentioned in the newspaper servicing Juarez.
This website that includes a forum for missing children picked up Alejandra's story:
http://www.justice4caylee.org/missing-children-f37/alejandra-salcido-16-yo-canutillo-el-paso-tx-t3339.htm
I hope the other missing children's websites pick up her story too. I don't belong to any others but WS.

Police say teen likely a runaway
By Stephanie Sanchez / El Paso Times
Posted: 09/30/2009 12:00:00 AM MDT
EL PASO -- The three-week disappearance of a 16-year-old Canutillo High School student remained a mystery Tuesday.
Police officials said they suspect that the teen might have voluntarily left her home. But her parents, Ariana and Enrique Salcido, are not convinced.
Alejandra Salcido, a junior at Canutillo, was reportedly last seen the morning of Sept. 10. Her parents were told she got off a school bus in front of her school, but no one seems to know what happened next.
Javier Sambrano, a police spokes man, said it appeared that Alejandra ran away and that foul play was not suspected. Detectives, he said, continue their efforts to find her.
. . .
The day she vanished, Alejandra's friend called Ariana and Enrique Salcido to tell them Alejandra had sent her a text message. In the message, Alejandra asked the friend to tell the Salcidos to pick her up near the U.S. Consulate in Juárez.
An hour before, Ariana Salcido said, her daughter had called and asked her to pick her up at school in 10 minutes. Ariana Salcido said she waited outside the school and then searched the building.
Alejandra never appeared.
There have been allegations that Alejandra and other students from Canutillo were at a party in Juárez. But no students have come forward with information.
