From the Toronto White Pages:
M. Schmidt
734 St Clair Ave W
Toronto, ON M6C 1B3
If this is Michaela, she would have been just 2-3 blocks from her home when she disappeared. According to the police, she was last seen in the Yonge/St Clair Ave area.

No news release stating she was found on the TPS psge. I wonder if there was a mistake made earlier when antiquegirl spoke to an officer today? Maybe the officer had the wrong name?

I agree, if she were located it would have stated so on the Toronto Police Service's news releases as per usual.
Funny, there was a blurb about a missing female in her 30's from what I recall, from Oshawa, but nothing at all on this 25-year-old from Toronto.

All we know.
Map of the area in which she was last seen, and her assumed address.
Approximately less than 2 miles away from each other.

Other than that, given her last name, we know she is German.

I've not seen where Michaela has been found.
I also have not seen where her parents have come forward and made a plea, nor any other "news" other than the missing person report. Am I just overlooking this information.
I find it odd that there is simply nothing about this girl.

There is a telephone number on the white pages for the M. SCHMIDT posted above.
Would it be good idea to call? Find out the status, and get more information?

I sent an e mail to cp24 asking for an update.
"Please could you give us an update if Michaela Schmidt was found. The last police news release shows her as still missing: http://www.torontopolice.on.ca/newsr...pdfs/17349.pdf
Since there were no news updates on this missing person's case, and in the light of other high profile missing person's cases that you report about, I believe that your audience is interested in finding out if Michaela Schmidt was found. Thank you in advance."

I think calling that number would be inappropriate. There is a phone number and officers name on the news release that can be called, antiquegirl had called the police once, hence the confusion but I would not call that person's number.

ITA. I would never call this number. We don't even know if it's the right person. Many young people live with their parents or with roommates and don't even have a listing in their names.
I'm still thinking that Michaela turned up very quickly or was never missing in the first place. Considering how close this was to Mariam's disappearance and the similarity in appearance, it's hard to believe that LE has not continued to seek the public's help by publicising this in the media or that the media would not have gotten wind of it. It's been five days now.
The lack of any info (besides the LE site) online about this girl makes no sense. Of course, neither does the fact that LE hasn't updated their own site about it, unless it's some kind of glitch.
I don't believe that the officer I spoke with on the phone misunderstood the name since I repeated it at least twice. I probably should not have volunteered the information that I have no connection to the case. Maybe if he had thought otherwise, he would have been more cooperative.
This is very frustrating. I hope that Outcast gets some news from CP24 and we can clear this up.

My biggest complaint about Canada - or at least Ontario - is that missing person notices often appear as short blurbs on the news or in newspapers, and then you never hear anything more about them. It drives me crazy because the US seems so different.

antiquegirl, I'm wondering if another phone call to them would produce the same answer?

I wonder that, too, but I'm not willing to go through that again. The whole thing made me a little nervous, to be honest. I'd be perfectly happy to have someone else do it, though.

I just sent an email to Division 53 asking for information as to whether she was still missing. If I don't receive a reply in a couple days I'll call and speak to someone about it.

I highly doubt the police service would post a news release if she was never missing to begin with. Even if someone reported her missing thinking she has disappeared, only for her to later return the next day or whenever, a located news release update would have been posted on the Toronto Police Service's website as per usual.
One way or another this is strange.

Sorry, I didn't mean that she was never missing to begin with. What I meant was that maybe someone reported her missing by error or as a hoax. It's just hard to believe that (a) if she were still missing it wouldn't have received more publicity, and (b) that LE would have misinformed me about it on the phone. It somehow seems more believable that LE accidentally neglected to update the status. But I guess we'll have to wait and see what happens next.
ETA: If it does turn out that she's still missing and that officer lied to me, I'm going to be really ticked off. Aside from that, I hope she's home safe and sound.

No news from cp24 yet. I did not watch TV all day, so I am not sure if they said anything about Michaela. So I guess we will just wait and see if we can get the information that she was found confirmed.

I'm willing to wait until tomorrow morning. Otherwise, I'm going to contact the press, the police ...there is something very very very wrong that a young lady is pronounced as missing and NO ONE SEEMS TO BE LOOKING FOR HER!!!....
I have no idea what the bottom line on this is...but something is clearly not right!...no family plea, no updates, misinformation...
....REPORTERS......follow up!....WHERE'S CHRISTY BRINKLEY WHEN YOU NEED HER??????????????????????????? bulllllyah.....call Nancy Grace :banghead:
I feel your pain, but I think you mean Christie Blatchford, not the former super model, right? ;)

This morning I have sent a short note to CityTV, Globe & Mail, CFRB and Christie BLATCHFORD asking if they are still following this young ladies missing status and/or is Michaela still missing and her safe return was not reported.
I'll let you know if I hear back.

Now that it has been confirmed twice that Michaela is found, should we not close this thread? I'm not sure how it's done.
