On the net a couple of days ago was a cell phone video of a woman in a bizarre outfit getting into an argument with a family on a train and then eventually spraying mace in the boy's face. Comments said it was in LA.
I can't link to it because Youtube removed it and that's what the blogs were linking back to. It was getting lots of hits. I'll describe it as well as I can:
The audio was really bad but basically what it consisted of was a woman with a couple of kids making fun of another female passenger, it seemed because of her appearance (she was dressed like a low-rent pro) and then an argument. She threatens to mace them. The little boy and woman keep arguing with her, and then she maces him. She gets off of the train while the boy starts to scream and grab his eyes and other passengers try to leave the train.
It looked real to me, but I didn't see anything about the incident on the news, which is the sort of thing that the tv stations love. At the end of the video the adult with the child screams for others on the train to call security.
Did anyone else see this or know anything about the incident? From the video, it clearly appeared to be a crime, and the woman who did it would have been quite noticeable. I don't think it was a hoax, since it involved a moving subway car, but didn't see anything reported. Anyone in California hear about it locally perhaps? Thanks.

Replying to myself here: I found a reference in a blog. It's at this link WARNING: it's NSFW due to language although the volume is terrible, the woman curses constantly. (Sorry if there is anything about that source not allowed. Tried to find that info).

Back to my question: Anything in the press? She seems like she'd be easy to spot

I haven't seen anything. That video, though, is...Okay, I'm going to leave the lectures about the parenting styles of today's society alone...What was amazing to me were the people that just acted like what was going on was no big deal. The kid's screaming and they just look at him like that stuff happens every day...and it probably does.
ETA--I have to add that the line "It's my birthday and I'm not going to have this s******"" was actually kind of funny. She just kept saying it...or maybe my sense of humor is just a little warped

Sometimes kids have to learn the hard way.

I hated seeing that boy in pain. But hopefully he learned a lesson that will save him from a knife or bullet later.

Hello, do parents no teach their kids civility and decency.
Do they not teach their children that "you do not make" fun of anyone else. Because hey, it could be you.
We taught our kids that they will never in our presence inside the house or outside that they are not to comment about a person's appearance.
Or you kidding me, this kid will not learn, nor will his family. He is probably going to be the one with the knife or gun to "defend" himself against people that "he and his family humiliate".
It was not like this was "unexpected". Apparently the mom "defended" the boys so she has not problems with their "conduct".
The bullies got their butts kicked...........what the boys were doing is called "harassment". Plain and simple.
Some "people" need to put others down to feel better about themselves. They need to dominate and humiliate others to feel superior.
That is what these boys "have learned" from their family.

I have to agree with you there. As terrible as what happened here was, some of the dialogue was hilarious. The part where the woman calls the mother with kids fat, and then she yells back that her man doesn't mind (and the following exchange) had me in stitches.
I was also amazed that none of the people helped the boy. I can only guess that the reason is that before this person turned on the camera, he was doing something else and nobody took sympathy on him. It's also impressive that more people weren't running.
Still, I think the cops should pursue this woman. To do that to a child over language is unforgivable. Maybe the police don't know about the video. The boy must have gone to a hospital which should have generated a report. I wonder why no press?

Yes. Before I posted it I checked the main page and the message board and didn't see it. Did you see something about it there?

NO, NO tell me it is not so, I was duped. I thought something was "odd" when there was no newspapers reports of this.

There have certainly been a few kids on the subway train I would have liked to mace in the face but when I think about it I am displacing my anger and the person who really needs to get is the parent(s). I am forever amazed at how lackadaisical some parents are and just let themselves be completely dominated by their own children. I would be mortified if my children acted this way in public however I am pretty sure they would because they would have been taught some manners and discipline to begin with.
The closest I have some to being maced is I had some on my key chain and I sat on it and maced myself right in the crotch. YOWEEEEEEEEE! OMG. I thought I was going die. It gave a whole new meaning to pants on fire.

To close the question. This case was not picked up. Clear shots of most people involved, but nothing done.
