Richard Allen Davis, the man who killed Polly Klass, has a website asking for penpals.
http://ccadp.org/richarddavis.htm
Ward Weaver also has one. The CCADP provides these websites to death row inmates so they can ask for penpals.

I am going to add my two cents and I dont know if it will be taken well, although I will offer my thought anyway.
The problem with Richard Allen Davis being allowed to even ask for a penpal is utterly disgusting. This man is on death row for murder and he's been in and out of jail his whole life. He is a predator and our justice system needs to start putting these people to death immediatly after their convictions, not allowing them to sit around and play games, watch tv, and write to whomever. If you are convicted of a crime, then you need to not be treated like you are a daycamp. He's one of the most sickening people I've never seen on TV. I have no kind thoughts for this man.

I can't even believe this guy is allowed access to a computer in that aspect. It's sickening that our tax dollars support such a monster.
Richard Allen Davis was in a couple of my textbooks when I completed my undergrad studies in Criminology................sick individual.

I agree. Those deputies should have held Davis down and let Marc loose on him. I don't normally "jump for joy" at the thought of anyone dying, but I know I won't be shedding any tears for this monster.

This guy is the worst of the worst... I too believe that the courtroom should have turned a blind eye and allowed Marc Klaas to have a go at Davis. The words Davis spoke to Klaas were disgusting... when I viewed the quicktime link to the video, I was enraged! This guy should not be allowed to draw another breath...
http://www.cnn.com/US/9609/26/davis.klass/index.html
SAN JOSE, California (CNN) -- "The killer of 12-year-old Polly Klaas was sentenced to death Thursday, moments after outraging courtroom spectators by claiming the girl told him her father had molested her.
Minutes later, Davis addressed the court and suggested Polly's father had molested Polly. (17 sec./224K AIFF or WAV sound)
"The main reason I know I did not attempt any lewd act that night was because of a statement the young girl made to me while walking up the embankment (where she was killed): 'Just don't do me like my Dad,'" Davis said.
The shout of "Burn in hell, Davis!" carried through the courtroom. An enraged Marc Klaas then shouted at Davis and was restrained before storming out of the courtroom. (40 sec./1.5M QuickTime movie) Many in the room broke down in tears. "

Indigo, there aren't words to describe a thing like him. He's not worth any more of anyone's time or energy. The sooner the devil has him full time, the better for all concerned.

See this thread for a link to a possible Richard Allen Davis murder. Totally speculation , but the girl he killed was from Hayward around the same timeframe.

I don't see what the problem is. Don't write to him. Or write him and tell him exactly what you think of him. He's opening himself up to it.
Either way, he's off the streets and he isn't killing any more little girls. This is a good thing.

This is a good thing.IMO the thing that I have a problem with in concern to this is that this convicted murderer who should have been put to death long ago has the freedom and ability to have a website asking for penpals. Why should this vermin be allowed such? He took a life of an innocent, has been tried and found guilty and that should be the end of his freedoms, period. Prison should equal /freedoms.
Setting aside the debate over whether a prisoner should be given this luxury, I would suggest that the "CCADP"--at the very least--display a prominent link to an account of the crime(s) for which they're convicted.
There's really no good argument they could come up for against that, I don't think. The fact that the information is not explicitly given casts into serious doubt their purported good intentions in offering the prisoner contact info to the public.

Now I don't know about the contact Death Row prisoners have with other cons in with them, but I would never write someone in prison because even if they can never get out, they might know someone who is getting out, pass your info to them and they can come and make your life a living h*ll. I agree with the link to the crime info. I think that's the least they can do to keep the public informed. I've looked on some of those sites and then looked up the crimes and I am astounded at the bs the cons spew to get people to write them. They probably are lonely. They made their choices.
Richard Davis is vile. When I saw the clip on TV where he said those awful things to Mark Klaas, I could have reached through the screen and strangled him with my bare hands. I'm not that strong, but I was so enraged that I really could have done it. Bless Mark Klaas for going on and being such an advocate for children after what happened to his beloved daughter. He has helped save lives.

But 'no freedom' would translate to isolation. If he can write to his mother, why can't he write to a friend? A penpal?
Excessive and unrelenting isolation is considered cruel and unusual punishment.

It was more than flipping Marc off...as I recall...the words make me puke...this was the most disgusting thing I have ever heard said in a courtroom concerning the rape and murder of a beautiful child.

So Californa is continuing the charade. Maybe we need one more liberal court justice to have the whole nation go down with this state....they now allow Death Row Inmates computer access? You gotta be kidden!
I could telll you stories about the people that have been working in the prisons. I am talking mental health and their bleeding hearts. Reading files of child molesters and baby (never reported to the public, but yes, some rape infants) molesters is not a good thing to do. Some of these employees have it in their psyche that these pieces of crud deserve plenty of oxygen, scrabble boards and tv and a decent life in prison...They told me they are "human beings".....I challenged that and no longer work there. The thought of remembering makes me ill and want a sedative.

I will never ever forget the evil that is Richard Allen Davis.
I was nine years old when Polly Klaas was abducted and murdered. My family and I lived in the Bay Area (I still do!) and we all followed this case closely. I will never forget the day I heard a little girl was stolen from her bedroom, a place where all us kids should be safe and allowed to enjoy our innocence. I hoped that somehow Polly would come home to her mom and dad, who could hurt her? her kidnapper must have her hidden somewhere, right? I remember her missing posters being everywhere, I even took the time to write down the description of her abductor (who we later learned was Davis) and carried it with me, just in case I spotted him.
I'll never forget the day that I learned she was dead. Mom and I had just come from Toys R Us, I was so excited because she'd just bought me this huge T-Rex from Jurassic Park that I'd wanted for so long, and we were headed into Burger King in the same shopping center. As we passed the newspaper cases, my mom said out loud "Oh no...please...no no" and confused, I looked at her to find out what was the matter. She pointed to a copy of the Mercury News which had the headline "Polly Klaas Found Dead" alongside the now-famous picture of Polly smiling sweetly. My heart sank, I couldn't comprehend it, she really wasn't coming home? I lived in a world where little girls could be stolen from their homes and taken into the night forever. I lost a part of my childhood innocence that day.
Now I'm twenty-five, and I still think of Polly from time to time. Especially around the anniversary of her abduction and murder. If she had lived, she'd be a little older than I am now, and I wonder how her life would have turned out for her. I'll never forget her, I know that much. I'll never forget the man that killed her, either. By age nine, I was getting a bit old to believe in the monsters of fairy tales and childhood closets, but Richard Allen Davis showed me that monsters do exist and that children suffer for it.

ITA w/ the above bolded statement. Let's have some full disclosure on these sites. I don't think that even Death Row prisoners should be denied the right to correspond with people on the outside, but let's make sure these correspondents realize fully just what their pen pals did to warrant their sentences.
I went to the site and read his ad, even checked out his woodworking site. The man has a God-given artistic talent that I wish I was blessed with. How sad that he chose instead a life of crime and violence rather than doing something positive with his gift. People every day are faced with choices, and it appears that he always made the wrong one. It seems that he shuns the white man's God. I admit that I know little of Native religious beliefs or practices, but I am 100% certain that they do not encourage or accept the sexual abuse and murder of innocent children. This man knew right from wrong and made that decision to do what he did. He deserves his punishment, and I am not a supporter of capital punishment.
The only thing that I hope comes of his pen pal request is that someone somewhere who writes to him is able to reach him in a way nobody ever has and open him up to redemption. But first he has to accept his own role in his crime and renounce his actions, and I honestly don't see this man doing that.

Never happen. I went around and around with the guy that runs that site a few years ago - he is rabidly anti-USA and does not care what these sub-human sacks of protoplasm did. Honestly, if the DP were abolished in the US he'd just find something else to go on about. Throw him in a cell with his hero Davis and see how long he lasts - he's a wimpy, pasty skinned jerk with black painted toenails.
