Though usually held on the last Wednesday of February, this year Pink Shirt Day in Canada is being held on April 14, as the org wanted to avoid conflicting with the Olympics.

So, wear a pink shirt on April 14, to show that you are against bullying.

This is for me…
…my friends today…
And my friends tomorrow.

I think being mean stinks…
I won’t watch someone get picked on
Because I am a do something person…
…not a do nothing person.

I care

I can help change things

I can be a leader

In my world there are no bullies allowed.

Bullying is bad…
Bullying bites…
Bullying bothers me.

I know sticking up for someone is the right thing to do…

My name is (your name)
And I won’t stand by…

I will stand up.

Stand up to bullies in a pink shirt

Posted By Jordie Dwyer / Record Staff

The idea sprung forth from a pair of Nova Scotia high school students who, back in 2007, took a stand against some bullies.

The pair found out a Grade 9 student had been bullied because he wore a pink polo shirt to school. The two students came up with a novel approach to the situation, going to a local thrift store and buying 50 pink tank tops that they handed out at school the next day.

As they did that, the bullied Grade 9 student walked in and looked like the weight of the world had been lifted from his shoulders. A bigger point was that the bullies were never heard from again.

The story got national media attention and the idea was picked up by a Vancouver radio talk show host, who is also a former B.C. MLA, who has turned it into annual event.
