GUILTY CA - Det. Michael Davis, 42, & Dep. Danny Oliver, 47, slain, Auburn, 24 Oct 2014

After I read my post above I have another idea. Maybe the report is inaccurate and the officers didn't "approach" the truck at all. I heard that the suspect was armed with a rifle. He could have fired on the officers from a distance and still hit them. JMO.

Ahhh, Sheriff Bonner was the Sheriff when I was there.

Read the article about the coincidence of the date of death, wow.

God speed, Detective Davis.

He was a young teen, 17, when he lost his dad. His father must have done a great job with the time he had with his son to have him. What a legacy. I hope that his family will be well supported by good memories and support of caring friends.

Federal, state and local officers eventually swarmed six separate crime scenes across a 30-mile region encompassing two counties, Placer County sheriff's spokeswoman Dena Erwin said.
"It was an amazing response," Erwin said...

Placer County Sheriff Ed Bonner described the crime scenes as "incredibly chaotic" and vowed to piece together details of the attacks. "It's a very large scale investigation for sure," Erwin said. "It's just a nightmare"...

Police suspect the shooter was 34-year-old Marcelo Marquez of Salt Lake City, who was being held on suspicion of two counts of murder, two counts of attempted murder and two counts of carjacking. A woman with him, 38-year-old Janelle Marquez Monroy, was in custody on suspicion of attempted murder and two counts of carjacking...

Anthony Holmes, 38, of Sacramento was shot at least twice, including once in the head, sheriff's spokeswoman Sgt. Lisa Bowman said. A nursing supervisor at UC Davis Medical Center said Saturday that Holmes had been upgraded from critical to fair condition.

Law enforcement officials, reeling from the loss of two deputies Friday in a series of shootouts in Sacramento and Auburn, began a solemn procession this afternoon to escort the body of one slain officer from the Sacramento County coroner’s office to a Roseville funeral home...

Investigators still are trying to determine what brought the couple to Sacramento and how a simple approach by deputies in a parking lot could have escalated into such violence.

Marquez has no known criminal history under his name, according to records and officials, and the couple were not registered as guests at the motel.

Just checking in to see how Deputy Dawg was doing. I was thinking about him/her today as I attended my MIL funeral. Sincerest condolences.

The suspect in the shooting of the deputies appears to be using an alias.

Investigators were poring into the conflicting backgrounds Saturday of a Utah couple accused in a crime spree that killed two deputies, with federal authorities saying the 34-year-old man charged in the slayings has used at least two identities and has been deported from the United States twice in the past.

Sheriff’s officials have identified the suspect as Marcelo Marquez, but the U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement agency said in a statement Saturday that his name actually is Luis Enrique Monroy-Bracamonte.

Monroy-Bracamonte was first deported to Mexico in 1997 following his arrest and conviction in Arizona for possession of narcotics for sale; he was arrested and returned to Mexico a second time in 2001.

It hurts, makes it more real to stare at those faces. But, that is what is needed...it NEEDS to be real.

My ex called me yesterday morning to see how I was doing...my ex was a CHP officer assigned to the same area when we were married. He was thinking I had worked some with Deputy Davis (not a Detective at the time), but wasn't sure. Now that I look at his picture, trying to picture him several years younger (because goodness knows I certainly haven't aged, LOL!), he looks familiar and I'm thinking I may have seen him at the range or at some briefings, etc...but I know I never was partnered up with him, etc. on swing shift.

Now to hear this was all done by an illegal, convicted drug dealer, deported twice and released.................yeah, I'm pissed off this morning!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Janelle Monroy lived in what I would describe as a substantial compound in West Valley City at:
2419 W 3800 S
West Valley City 84119 Utah

From google Earth, one can see sizeable warehouses, one attached to the home and another separate. Separate and double roll-up doors located along one side of warehouse attached to the home. Where does an illegal alien who was deported twice get the bucks to buy a spread like that?

Yeah, no doubt a nightmare for Hector as whatever biz he, his bro and Janelle likely ran together will be busted wide open.

So this is his brother...they lived together in Utah. Is he an illegal, as well? Wonder if we'll find out.
