I did think that a hotel might have provided a big screen to show the rally on. Much like some hotels do with the football.

Probably a delayed telecast.
But can't be certain

Father and Uncle involved in the Mining Industry. At least they were in the 1970's, according to newspaper articles in Trove, presumably the father still is, if not the Uncle.

Its only to establish the victim has a history of the town, and victim has a history. It is the victims family who have been mentioned in the media on several occasions.

You could be right. It could be vengeance on the Cutler family of years gone by in Kalgoorlie .. Maybe he has a grudge of years ago? If you know anyone, ask if there is any monuments towards the Cutler family etc?

Cutler could well have been a boarder at Iona, as was Sarah Spiers, whose father is a shearing contractor in regional WA around a lot of these towns.

Iona has a lot of boarders who were country kids put into boarding school as parents were out country. The OBH (Ocean Beach Hotel), and Cottesloe hotel are also renowned for country patrons, many farmers kids.

Maybe a regional country connection between the victims and the perp?

I did think that a hotel might have provided a big screen to show the rally on. Much like some hotels do with the football.

They used to set up the rally in the CBD and have races, on Adelaide Terrace for that matter where the Sheraton Hotel i located. The Esplanade had rally tracks at one stage.

If you have Google Earth handy, draw a line from 347 Stirling Highway & Stirling road where Sarah Spiers was abducted, at 77 degrees (90 degrees) from the vector meridian of Jane & Ciara for 347 kilometres, you will hit Southern cross Post Office at the 347km mark, within 50 metres south its location. (aka PMG, aka Telecom).
If you continue through, to 556 kilometres, you will hit Kalgoorlie post office on the head.

Not bad for mapping.without Google Earth. Boy Sea Scout at Kewdale Highschool? Someone with an interest in GPS, registered on a GPS website, with obvious ownership of an early handheld GPS unit.

What sort of map would you use to draw a line through those post offices to 347 Stirling highway & Stirling road? Stirling was a common standard issue manufacturer of home phone around the time government road in Claremont was established.

Actually, the Claremont post office where the phones were, is dead in line with the other two for 557.1km

I know it sounds wobbly dobbly but at 347 kms from Sarahs abduction, we might see some relevance at the trial.

Considering Cutler is from Kalgoorlie? Govan went missing Kalgoorlie, at the Foundry. The Govan surname means place of the Smith.

Govan Name Meaning: habitational name from Govan near Glasgow, first recorded c.1134 as Guven, possibly meaning 'place of the smith'
https://www.ancestry.com.au/name-origin?surname=govan

"Smith name meaning metal worker, blacksmith", derived from Old English smitan "to smite, to hit"
https://www.ancestry.com.au/name-origin?surname=smith

A foundry is a factory that produces metal castings. Metals are cast into shapes by melting them into a liquid, pouring the metal in a mold, and removing the mold material or casting after the metal has solidified as it cools. Wikipedia

Sent you a message on Tapatalk chat regards possible link between Leopold Nickel case and Vernon Silich. Make of it as you will, but requires more direct evidence that he had some knowledge of it and acted upon it.

Cutler goes missing from a hospitality staff party at the Parmelia hotel. Shes a waitress. Govan goes missing from The Foundry. * See previous post explanation of blacksmith.

Cutler Name Meaning. English: occupational name for a maker of knives, from an agent derivative of Middle English, Old French co(u)tel, co(u)teau 'knife', Late Latin cultellus, a diminutive of culter 'plowshare'. Compare Cottle. Americanized spelling of German Kottler or Kattler, which is of uncertain origin.

Ummm Darkan to Southern Cross is 4h35m - 4h49m drive.

IMO No shearing contractor would take himself or his whole team that far for work.

(Assuming Don Spiers managed a team if shearers of course. )

Don Spiers had a farm in Darkan. That gives you some idea of the travel he did in a normal year. Southern Cross not far from farms he might shear on in the scope of his annual travel.

Have you a link for the Leopold Nickel case? Thanks

Although, no one has established that the Cutlers have any relevant history. Mr Cutler might have just gone up there to work.

Could go off on a pointless tangent again? Of course unless the Cutler family do have considerable history in Kalgoorlie?

McGovan went missing from the Foundry Hotel, Kalgoorlie a town known for its metal.
What does the name Lisa mean ?

By the way, Lisa Govan was a metallurgical lab tech working on samples. Oh the irony.

Maybe the perp driving the yellow Toyota with steel rally bucket seat was wearing foundry gloves. Probably not.

Heres a range of rally driving gloves. They look rough to me. In 1998 they may have looked more rustic?

Commonwealth Heritage buildings

Claremont Post Office, Claremont

Built in 1896 on the main shopping street, the Claremont Post Office reflects the town's development during the late 19th century gold boom. It is also located directly opposite the railway station, reflecting Claremont's suitability as a commuter suburb serviced by rail.

Kalgoorlie Post Office, Kalgoorlie

The Kalgoorlie Post Office was built between 1896 and 1899 in response to the rapid development of the gold fields in the early 1890s. When the Post Office wing was completed in 1899 it completed a significant civic design, which already included the Warden's Court and Offices, the Mines Department and the Courts of Justice. The clock in the prominent central tower was promised by the Premier, Sir John Forrest, in 1899 and set in motion in August 1900.

And Vernon Silich was a bikie....
Who's dad, Bob Silich, worked on cases like the Perth Mint Swindle....
You can read Bob's work history in the transcript of evidence he gave at the Police Royal Commission

Lisa has her own thread

Not suggesting this is "the" car. Pretty good confirmation of the exact model and year though
Even the music is a little bit spooky initially on this video and it looks like its WA number plate (in background).
How did you find this noname, its dated late last year right ?
I can't go past this car, it needs further investigation imo .
Dents on rear left corner , damaged left tail light also.
Similar to the one in the Mr bras driveway ?

I felt that the remand prisoners would go in max for their protection. But I spoke to someone who deals with prisons on a daily basis. That person said that they stuff them in all the prisons now as they have so many, and that they go into mainstream. Unless they pose a major threat risk after publicity in the media.

The comment was, if they are in remand, then the prosecution has enough to convince a judge to put them there, otherwise they would have been granted bail. That is someone who deals with the prisons daily in a legal capacity. Not me.

You 'felt' that remand prisoners go into Max at Hakea REMAND Prison, yet you worked there? Hmm, that is interesting. As I was there 22 hrs I know more than you. Remand means they are awaiting their court cases or pay their bail. They keep sex offenders totally separate from mainstream for years. Please don't say you spoke to someone who worked in Prisons when you say you worked at Hakea. Sorry but I have exposed you as a fraud. I rest my case.

Government vehicles were auctioned off usually at 40000 km, or 2 years of age. Occasionally there was a policy for work vehicles at 100000, say trucks etc.
This is part of the reason we came to the conclusion that it was a Telstra worker.
Before the accused was arrested.

There was a van a Karrakatta, which we associated with an electrical tech van, and a Commodore which was a model of car under a year old. The Commodore might not have been 9 months old. Combine that with the speculation of telephone cable by The Community Post was used to tie both the Karrakatta vicitm and Ciara.
Presumption was it be a Telstra stationwagon as the car was a new release and the model less than a year old.

At 9 months old as a new model, the car may have done 40000km as a Telecom vehicle with the option of purchase.

Otherwise, based on the fibres, someone was picking up people in a Telecom car at 9 months old, if that depending on purchase date.

Maybe in 1988 someone might have been driving a girlfriends vehicle of an extra marital affair? Or, he gave it to her after he owned it?

If the vehicle started production in say mid 1995? *Not sure on this but deffo 1995. By the time the car is produced in 1995 hits the sales yard, and on the road through the supply chain. Then by January 1996, VS Commodore would not be a year old.

VS Commodore not even 12 months old, maybe only 6 months old as a model of vehicle, let alone its age. Was it a company vehicle?

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Holden_Commodore_(VS)

The Holden Commodore (VS) is an executive car which was produced by the Australian manufacturer Holden from 1995 to late 2000

Police need to find all the old cars, especially the 1988 Hilux 4WD.

With the type of Holden Commodore VS was first issued in April 1995.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Holden_Commodore_(VS). It could have been used for the disappearance of SS and the abduction and murders of JR and CG. It is not possible that it was used for Karrakatta which occurred in February 1995.

I think the standard work vehicles were Toyota Hi-ace vans or Hilux in the service vehicle. Hi-ace as shown in the ad but search for ex-telstra vehicle on sites like gumtree also show the service vehicles.

It would appear someone was operating in Perth then shifted to Claremont. What was going on in the accused life in 1988?

Rally Australia 1988, steel bomber bucket seat in Toyota. Man wearing very rough gloves, which sounds like Kevlar racing gloves.

Grabs Dorothy by the hair in carpark, wraps her up in sticky tape, then dumps her on Centenary drive the way home to mummys place?

This sounds like a similar scenario to what might happen to Cutler

Different modis operandi

Just a note on the Rally Australia. The Perth leg was held 30 April - 1 May with the rally moving to Bega on the NSW South Coast 11- 12 June with the next one being in August. Any competitors in Western Australia would have more likely been local, however maybe the increased popularity of Rally Cars increased the purchases of rally style cars and car accessories.
