Thoughts on Daylight Saving Time...

Not only that...I have six digital type clocks in my kitchen, stoves, microwaves, coffee makers...

So, it drives me crazy for each one to have a different number, so I have to spend an inordinate amount of time to coordinate each one so they are synchronized. I know, it is a strange obsession. Too bad they are not all smart, so I could set them to my phone. Maybe some day.

I miss Arizona so much.

Among other things, no daylight savings time there. Neither does Hawaii.

Maybe it is time for the rest of the nation to follow suit.
Indiana didn’t adopt Daylight Saving Time until the year I moved here, 2007 :)

It figures. When I lived in other states we had always talked about how great it would be to live in Indiana where the time didn’t change.

Scientific evidence supporting maintaining standard time all year long has been around for many, many years however when what is truly better for us conflicts with what some want for reasons of their own ... well, we've seen and lived how that works out haven't we?

In the UK out clocks went back last weekend. Don't much like waking at 5am. Ah well, just another eleventy billion days to go.

I have lived in Indiana my entire life and so has hubby, hated it when former Gov. Mitch Daniels changed it and still hate it! To make it even more confusing some parts of the state are on a different time zone than others!

Is Indiana in the Central or Eastern time zone?

While most of Indiana is in the Eastern Time Zone, there are 12 of our 92 counties that are in the Central Time Zone to make things convenient with their surrounding areas.

I travel all over the state for work, and I always have to check the time zone when I work in Evansville area or the northwestern Indiana counties that are considered metro Chicago.

It’s about time to once again adjust the clocks, with Sunday being the latest installment of daylight saving time.

But this year, one big question is hovering over the nation as people prepare to adjust clocks: Is this the last time we’ll ever “spring forward.”
In March 2022, the U.S. Senate passed what is known as the Sunshine Protection Act, which would end the twice-a-year ritual of changing clocks by making one set time permanent after the nation springs forward again on Sunday.

In essence, it would be the last time to ever change clocks again.

But not so fast...

Even if they get rid of daylight saving time Indiana will still have two time zones. Evansville area and the counties near Chicago will be on Central time while the rest of us will be on Eastern time.

IMHO I HATE IT WITH A PASSION! I hate the loss of an hour and feel like crap for several weeks until I get my mojo back. We have four seasons with a moving solar system and we actually think we can alter time (which by the way is different all over the world) for everyone in the US by Falling behind and Springing ahead every year! Thank goodness a few states have stepped up and said no more! Rumor is that Congress will make a decision this week. PLEASE DON'T QUOTE ME! I've only seen it mentioned once. OK I feel so much better. I am done ranting!

Rant away. I have to be at work at 5:30 am on Monday (6:30).

I hate it with a passion, thank God and Honda that my new car changes the clock automatically, it used to drive me nuts to have to dig out the manual twice a year. Moo

While 60% of countries across the world follow standard time all year, most of the U.S. shifts between standard and daylight saving time (DST) each year. However, many people are questioning the impact that changing clocks has on health.

"There has always been a debate in regards to daylight saving time," says Phyllis C. Zee, MD, PhD, sleep medicine specialist and chief of Sleep Medicine in the Department of Neurology at Northwestern Medicine. "The science has evolved over the last decade to show the transition between standard time and DST is associated with adverse health consequences. The big question on the table right now is, should it be permanent standard time or permanent DST?"

Dr. Zee shares why she is in favor of getting rid of the time change and moving to year-round standard time...

Love love love DST. I live in the North, winters here are cold and long and dreary enough as it is, it's awful when it gets dark so early in the afternoon (starts as early as 4:30pm). Gimme more light at the end of the day, it makes it easier to get the dog out for a walk after work for most of us, also most people run errands and do outdoor activities in the late afternoon/early evening (at least where I live), so I am one of those who love Daylight Savings Time.
