CA - Rebecca Zahau Nalepa - suicide or murder? #10

And besides all of that, after such a horrid accident, would a 6 yr old bother to say the dog's name? Wouldn't he say OW or help me or MOMMY!!!! But 'Ocean' ? Why would he bother to explain that the dog knocked him over with his last dying breath? I just don't buy it.

Too convenient that RN had the boy giving us the 'clue' to his violent accident with his last breath. And that both she and her sister were safely tucked away in the bathrooms when Ocean knocked him over the balcony.

like I said previously, we have a two story home and a big dog, and I never ever saw the dog get close to knocking one of the kids over the TOP of the railing. If anything she was always trying to herd them and to protect them. It just seems phony, like the story of him saying 'ocean'. Sorry.

I agree! Why didn't he scream? All she heard was a loud crash & Ocean, it just doesn't make sense to me. I've raised two boys and have a six year old boy who is always on the move, but he's loud and I always know where he is. Once he went flying off the swing and hit his head on those wood landscape ties and ended up in the ER with a concussion. I saw it all happen and the entire time he was in the air he screamed with fright... it chills me to this day just thinking about it and what could have happened. I also agree about the dog... I had a Weimaraner growing up and she was always very protective of us kids and knew when to play and when to be careful. I now have a GSP, just like a Weim, and he won't even walk up any of my staircases if the kids are on them, yet he will walk right beside me or any other adult... I swear he knows kids are clumsy & fragile.

We don't know what the circumstances were surrounding the "shopping" that occured with Rebecca and her sister on Tuesday before taking the sister to the airport. They both could have not wanted to be in the house after what had happened but still have a while before the sister needed to be at the airport for her flight. The house could have been secured by LE just in case and the sister had to leave some of her belongings behind so Rebecca took her and replaced those items. There are a number of things that could have happened that we simply don't know about. Personally I feel it is unfair to condemn Rebecca about the "shopping" without knowing all of the facts behind it.

I think all anybody here is trying to get at is the truth. And there certainly have been an abundance of criticism directed at Max's family, much of it totally unjustified because his parents have been cleared.

Once all the facts are known, what then? I think LE withheld facts about such things as shopping trips to respectfully protect RN from negative public opinion. But now that her family insists everything be released and their attorney has accused LE and JS of a cover-up, I think LE will oblige and it is not going to be favorable.

People trip over dogs and get injured day in and day out. Some repeatedly.

Of course they do. And I have myself. But how often does a small child get propelled over the top of a balcony railing, smash head first into the chandelier and hit the other wall, bringing the chandelier down with him? All by tripping over the dog? Not often.

I respect everyone on WS and value everyone's opinion, whatever our take is on this or any other case,we're all here because we care. We all have our own expertise, whether it be schooling, job experience,or life experience. With that said, being a step mother is one of the hardest, most unappreciated(sp) jobs ever. My husband is 15 years older then me and has 3 older children that I have cared for since I was 18. To this day my step daughter tells me how great I was to her,and how she has a better relationship with me then her own mother. Being a mother to 4 of my own children,I see it from both sides. But truth be told I think sometimes I was nicer, and tried harder with my step kids because I knew they needed extra tlc, seeing as how their birth mother was MIA. Not all step mothers are bad,and not all birth mothers are good. Step mothers are there because we want to be,not because we have to be. Accusing Rebecca of neglect is out of line imo. She was going about her day,in her own home,as we all do on a regular basis. I have a six year old daughter and realize kids need constant supervision, but if she were his birth mother would anyone even question her parenting?? Accidents happen,it's a shame but it is what it is, LIFE. SHE was the one found dead under suspicious circumstances, bound, beaten, and gagged. I don't usually question law enforcement,or consider conspiracy theories, but when money is involved people don't always behave as they normally would. This SUICIDE theory is b.s and smells as such. Just my 2 cents.

Including me. A dog caused me to go flying in the air once when I was running because it went the same way I turned.

I remember all of us looking at these photos trying to figure out if there were a rope. Clearly when helicopter flew over there is no rope. Does anyone know what that was?

As I recall, they were stopped by about 2PM. (I don't have the heart to go back and look at those awful videos). At any rate, this was from the evening news on 7/13, so the pix had to have been made earlier that day.

That would have been easily detected and documented in the autopsy, wouldn't it?

Lotsa questions about what did and did not appear in the autopsy reports. I didn't prepare them so have only opinions, not answers.

Well this certainly is bizarre, considering at 7:19 pm the rope was there.

No, not often. But probably more often than a woman hangs herself outdoors, in the nude.

Here is the description from Detective Tsuida, who arrived at 714PM with the Medical Examiner, Dr Lucas:

On 7/13/11, at 1914 hours, I arrived....Dr Lucas and I were escorted to the back of the residence...I noted a naked female body....A rope was hanging from the second story balcony.

So where was the rope when the helicopters were doing their flyovers earlier in the day? Why would the rope be removed, then replaced? They had no qualms about leaving the victim out where she could be seen.

I assume crime scene photos had been recorded by LE and the rope removed to examine it more closely. It was evidence, wasn't it?

Handling the victim's remains is usually up to the ME, who examines the body as evidence.

Screen shots are too fuzzy to pick out things in great detail. I do remember one picture that wasn't so fuzzy that clearly showed a rope hanging in the middle. Even in this fuzzy shot above I do see a faint line in the middle of the balcony right where the rope should be.

So are we now thinking LE removed the rope, then put it back for pictures? I highly doubt it. MOO

When my son was 4 I had to call an ambulance to our home after he and a friend were jumping on the couch and my son landed face first on a glass coffee table and broke his nose and wrist. At the time there was so much blood from his bloody nose that I thought he was badly cut. But actually no cuts at all, thank goodness. And it was safety glass so it never broke.

But he and his friend screamed bloody murder the entire time. And he almost passed out while we waited for the EMT, and he laid there, but he still quietly cried " Mommy, Mommy."

And I felt so incredibly guilty, even though I was 5 feet away in the adjoining kitchen. But if he or his friend had died that day in my care I would have wanted to die myself. Guilt is irrational, but all consuming.

And then they put it back?

You can argue that it's too fuzzy to maybe see the rope but both doors are closed in the helicopter photos. I don't think that can be explained away by image being too fuzzy.

A freak accident so off the charts that deserves a second look.

I doubt the media's interest concerned LE. I think LE put it back in order to reenact how it may have transpired.

I know who the poster is. Have you asked her what she thinks? It might be enlightening to you.

Bye the way. You keep saying that the LE officials got it right. That Rebecca committed suicide. How could they get Max's death wrong? There are ways to tell if someone was smothered. How did the ME and the ems personnel and the doctors ALL miss that?!

And please, enlighten me which injuries should NOT have been present on Max, after propelling off a landing, hitting/landing on/or pulling down a chandelier that he fell on or fell on him. Oh yes and after hitting his back on the opposite bannister and his head on a carpeted cement floor.

And, are you also a medical examiner?

I brought this forward for you MyBelle, as it was the last post on the previous page. I really am interested in your answer to this.
