If he did that, it would almost certainly result in a mistrial. Hence, I think its a pretty reasonable concern to have.

I suspect it's just a mild preview of the case he'll present. That'll be a full opportunity for him to unleash his obnoxiousness. I wouldn't be surprised if CN does testify if he dares ask her about what an amazing lover he thinks he is.

The letters are considered hearsay under evidence law. It's really weird that they'd be admissible without corroborating testimony from either CN or DM. Remember at Tim's trial the crown entered the letters into evidence during CN's testimony so she could explain them. It makes sense that they...

There's a statute of limitations for how long SL and Laura's family have to sue police. typically it would be 2 years from when you discover you have a potential claim against another party. As far as I know there aren't any special rules for suing the police that would change that timeframe.
